Farcry 2 Review
So finally we get to our first “True” AngryJoe “Angry Review”, now this is ANGRYJOE Flavor BITCHES! Still a few things we evolved after this one, you will notice this is the only time we mention Tons0Fun as “Chris the PC Guy” and hes not wearing his cool shirt designs. Even though this one is better then our last two tests (Brothers In Arms, and Blitz: The League II Reviews) we could always get better, and we’ve tweaked the format a bit since this video, but this one is pretty much in line with kinda what we would like to do with our “Angry Reviews”. Hmmm….Now after watching that, im thinking this one is actually a bit of a Bad Example as ultimately both me and Tons0Fun ended up both liking the game enough to not bash on it too hard.
We labeled the Video an “AJS Experience” because by then the game had been out for awhile and we were just concerned that most people had already made a decision about it. So this particular video was a little bit more for discussion of the things that we all liked and hated about it overall.

game is garbage. It’s so fuckin boring and repetitive…
I own this game and its worth the money, but the advertisement that Joe do sucks big time. Have they paid you guys to advertise the stuff already?
Well the first couple of hours i was really pumped for this game, after seeing this review i thought i was in store for a complex FPS. I was very disappointed because the next 8 hours was the same mission over and over again, annoying as hell re spawning enemies, and the already weak story is abandoned during that time. I wrote a similar rant on the far cry 3 review say i was doubting Joe’s integrity on judging these games, however, i still wanted to complete the game after the 32 percent completion mark. The story starts to return, its still needs work, but its there. Having said that i still do not think this game should have ranked so highly, i am the kind of guy that likes almost any game regardless of minor to moderate problems. This game is okay at best, worth 15 dollars.

Alright Joe, most of the time I agree with you, but this is the one review you did that almost pushes me to the point of hating you. I WANTED to love this game. I WANTED to. I STRUGGLED TO FIND FUN IN IT AND THERE WAS NONE. First of all the two factions, the UFLL and APR, have NO development whatsoever; instead of being able to maybe choose one and get ideological background and find the one you agree with most, you’re forced to do boring, repetitive missions for both as a grind for more diamonds and to move what little story there is forward. It could have been epic, working with the UFLL and destroying APR bases and watching as the influence of one faction or the other spread as you gained influence and fame and eventually found the source of the Jackal, but what we’re given is a half-completed piece of ass.
If this game had 6 more months of development time, working closely with writers to produce a compelling story, and 2 months of beta testing so that the devs would realize that having EVERY PERSON IN THE ENTIRE MAP WANTING TO KILL YOU, FROM RANDOM CARS TO EVERY GUARD POST, this game had the potential for a 9, maybe even a 10, but what you get is frustration from poor game design and terribly BROKEN stealth mechanics. Seriously, try stealth. TRY IT. I DARE YOU. DOES IT WORK? TELL ME IF IT WORKS! TELL ME! IT WILL NEVER WORK! YOU STAB A GUY WITH A MACHETE AND RANDOMLY EVERYONE IN THE ENTIRE BASE INCLUDING THE SNIPER A MILE AWAY KNOWS WHERE YOU ARE AND OPENS FIRE! WHAT THE FUCK!
Huge disappointment. The mapmaker also gives the -appearance- of being versatile, but is really pretty basic, and what you get either a) looks good, or b) plays decently, NEVER BOTH, and that’s even if you WANT to actually play the game which is questionable since multiplayer combat was, even for its time, dated and boring.
Trust me, I want to love this game. I do. I love going around, collecting diamonds with that Crackdown-like gameplay and upgrading my weapons and armor, and the animations are really good, but that’s not the core gameplay; the core gameplay is either frustrating or at times straight-up broken, and for that, I give this game a 5. Anything higher than a 5 and you’re lying to yourself. LYING. GET OUT OF DENIAL AND REALIZE YOUR ERROR. IF YOU HAVE TO STRUGGLE TO HAVE FUN WITH A GAME, IT SHOULDN’T GET ANY HIGHER THAN A 5. God DAMN I’m angry now, this game just gets me PISSED OFF EVERY TIME I THINK ABOUT IT AND THE FACT THAT I WASTED $60 (I bought it TWICE) on this PIECE OF INCOMPLETE SHIT.
I bought this game for $10 at EB and traded it back in almost a week later. Huge ambition and scope ruined by extremely frustrating and cheap difficult gameplay and lack of a cohesive vision. I wanted to love this game for it’s ambitions but ultimately ended up frustrated and hating it because of how difficult and frustrating it was to get anywhere.

Guys, I really recommend you all play it on the hardest difficulty. On normal and easy it is just you running through the bush shooting everything that moves. On infamous, you are surviving in the jungle with low ammo and health and you have to plan your next action to survive, and I mean SURVIVE! Just 5 bullets from an ak-47 will kill, and take into account multiple enemies shooting you at once, snipers, mortars, mounted guns, bush fires and getting run over by vehicles. So in MY opinion(which may not be yours), if you don’t play FC2 on ‘infamous’, you are not giving it a fair go.
Sure i loved the game, and it Deserves the 9/10
but i found it odd they didn’t mention the milaria popping in every 30 minutes and the one hit Deaths with the cars, SOOOO ANOYING
other than that the weapon jamming was indeed, very intresting and thought i knew they could blow up in my face, it never happened to me

for a 2008 game its ok, but there are 8 GOLDEN AK-47 weapons that is far more durable ~3000 shots I think!!!!
Joe I CAN’T understand how you could give this game 9/10!! like are you sirius?? may be I can understand it IF you don’t play FIRST FAR CRY!, because I am from the land which made this game and the first game!!! CZECH REPUBLIC!!! this game is… legend just legent it’s for Czech Republic like for Poland witcher ( the same with mafia ) !! realy little people know the first game because I think there is no english subtitles or dabing but I tell ya.. Voice acting – great, game play- awesome BUT and this is the think in which WE CZECHS are the best! – STORY – 99% of america no! 99% of the world doesn’t know that the famous game MAFIA was made in CZECH and it has the best graffic in the history of years from 2005-2007 and the story is best what you can possibly made it has 68 missons!!! and every one of them is has 2-5 chapters! first game is call: MAFIA: CITY OF LOST HAVEN and it was created by Illusion Softworks today known as 2K CZECH but the seconnd game was created by other company and Czechs only help with creating a story (only help because the company was designed a strait line of how the story should look like AND the resolt was only ee god but back to the far cry – I don’t know if is anyone familiar with the story http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Far_cry – as you can see the game was sponsored by UBISOFT which was realy overwhelmed by the story and it game itself the game was developed by studio name Crytek which has seat in the Germeny BUT everyone in the studio were Czechs! – mark Far Cry buyed Ubisoft and developted the Far Cry to which is SH*T it has NOTHING ABSOLUTLY NOTHING TO DO WHIT THE PREVIOUS STORY SO WHY IT HAS LABEL FAR CRY????????? Which you take a long ass time to explain what you don’t understand about this review. Basically, your ONLY complaint (ignoring the babble about Czechs) is that it has nothing to do with the other Far Cry game? Seriously? That’s hardly an issue. Seeing how most sequel games have little to nothing to do with the game that came before it, other than name and how it plays. Also, to compare Far Cry, a game about exploring and taking on missions differently every time to a game where you take on pretty much every mission by shooting everything and running along linear paths Ala, Mass Effect is quite laughable. Mass Effect games were about the story and how you could interact with them. Far Cry is seemingly about how you complete missions and wander around the OPEN WORLD.
Look at Final Fantasy games. They pretty much have nothing to do with each sequel with only 2 exceptions in history, I think. Your complaint is like saying, I didn’t like the game because of the controls when you can completely change the controls.
First Far Cry was developed by Crytek which was founded by German-Turkish brothers in Germany and which is located in Germany. Stop talking crap.
Should have read more, you wrote that it was developed by Crytek which is seated in Germany, but still, the main producers of the game are German-Turkish not Czechs.
Joe I really respect most of your reviews…but this game was just horrible, compared to the original its worse in every way. the weapons are horrible, balance was horrible, battles were bland and predictable, missions were repetitive, it was just awful!

I have to agree with some of the things about this game, but if you want to get this game, get it for the PC. This game can be run on a low end graphics and still look good.
I hate that its trying to “act real” but at the same time it doesn’t. What kind of game that has the Ak-47 Degrade and jam in just one day of use or for any weapon for that matter????? That’s not close to real. The driving is boring and takes forever just to get where you need to go (70% of driving and 30%shooting) I know there are buses but really… do I have to take the bus every time just to make the trip shorter, even though that it takes about that same time to drive to the spot ???? .
I have to admit that this is a pretty good game “For PC” (less frame drops) . I played the xbox360 and have bought the ps3 version for 10 bucks. I got the PC version for 5 bucks. The aiming mechanics for the consoles are stiff and weird.
I’m not trying to troll or anything. Far Cry 2 is a good game, but no way the best and revolutionary game out there.
I hope FC3 is going to be revolutionary
there was some kind of glitch of some sort that happened a lot to me in this game, and that was that if i stood near one of my buddies that helped me, he suddenly just gets downed, and if it happends two or three more times, i wasnt able to get him up, but instead, i had to kill him
the weapons jamming and overheating so easily is ridiculus.
There are a few things I’d like to point out about this game.
Firstly, the PC version is probably the only game where I think that quicksave button is a bad thing. You talked about how the buddies come to help you when you are about to die. I almost missed all that due to frequency of my saves. I had to restrain myself from saving outside safe houses to add tension.
The second thing is that the guns jam a little too often and there is no way to clean them. It’d add a lot to the game if it could be predicted when weapons become unreliable.
There are the issues you two pointed out, and some more minor ones too. It annoys the hell out of me that most of the weapons are mirrored in the way that ejection port is on the wrong side. It really couldn’t be considered a flaw, but every time I see that it fills me with unspeakable frustration.

You missed the most disappointing thing about the game (for me at least) … that is, the “re-spawning” of enemies … over, and Over, and OVER, and OVER again!
For example, you pass a “check-point” and kill all the enemies … drive forward, then you realize that you want to go back the other way, so you make a U-turn … AND guess what … enemies you killed 1 minute ago are BACK! This sorta, ruined the game for me.
The game is still high quality, and pretty fun. BUT i think the long driving sequences, the repetitive missions make it more of a 7.5 ‘ish rating AND should have a “Be careful before you buy” recommendation … NOT a must buy!

I agree with you completely, i do not think the game would even be a 7.5 rating because of the reasons. I have brought at least 10 games from these reviews and this is the first time i has thought “What was he thinking”.
plz tell me that you where high when you made this video , far cry 2 is a piece of shit , it have nothing to do with the original game , no mutants , stealth is non existents , gun jam all the time , the enemy can snipe you with a shotgun a mile away , the mini map takes 2/3 of the screen , its a gigant world with nothing in it , you have malaria … this game is a piece of shit and any1 who say different is a fucktard !

If you think that this game is crap it is because you are a fuckin pussy who is not playing the game right and should stick to games that hold your hand like a child and doesn’t allow u to do things ur way. This isn’t run and gun it is stratigic and emersive and requires u to slow down and use ur head. That way you can kick ass!
They think its crap because the game is very repetitive for a good 8 hours. Most people do not want to play a game for 8 hours till a story is finally reinforced, i think callings people pussies for that reason is unfair.
I like the healing animations they’re nice when you have low health

Just rewatched this for old times sake. It is funny / great to see really how much you have evolved the show in relatively short time. Keep up the great work.
gameplay was clunky and driving got tiring. enemies were all the same and guns jamming MADE ME RAGE!!!! i died at least 20 times on account of a jammed gun as i was charging in like a numbfuck.
The gun jam was not an issue. I never died because of that because I was always packing new guns that I bought. I didn’t like the travelling system but thank god for buses.
