Wow, I Want To Stop Playing WoW.

What’s up all, Stone here. Everyone I know, correction -just about everyone I know, plays World Of Warcraft. I was the hold out. Every time I turned around someone was telling me to come play WoW. I was nervous cause I played City Of Heroes for over a year and got really, really bored with it. How would WoW be any different?

And then I downloaded the 10 day free trial and got hooked.

Man, Wow is an excellent game and it makes City Of Heroes look like child’s play. There is so much to do in WoW that it is confusing for a newb like I was. I was sold simply cause I could be a zombie, so I made one. I am usually the magic caster in my games so I chose to be a warlock. I have no bottom jaw and a cockroach for a pet. I was having the time of my life playing with all these people that I know on the game. I was summoning fire imps and void walkers and running around in areas where all the targets have skulls for level numbers just to see how long I could last on the run. I was mining ores and making armor and flying bats around to far off places. It was a little difficult to get to the Argent Dawn server with my other friends cause it is so full but I managed. WoW is simply beyond what I expected and I started to get really into it.

And now everyone is mad at me cause I am quiting the game. They have thrown every promise and suggestion at me, but they do not understand. I am not quiting WoW cause it sucks. I am not quiting because it was unfulfilling. I am not quitting because I want to be power leveled. I could care less about that. I am quiting because I am a Star Wars ho and The Old Republic is on the horizon.

Let me take a few steps back. City of Heroes was my first MMORPG. A friend of mine in Ohio got it when it came out and told me I had to play it with him. So I went out and got it and started to play. I am a super hero guy so it was a perfect fit. I ran around the Victory server as Gavin Stone, blaster at large. I had a huge group of friends to play with and I got hooked. I wanted more online games to play like this. So I went out and got Final Fantasy 11. And Star Wars Galaxies. Both of those games sucked. FF11 was far too slow for my tastes and no one was friendly in Galaxies. And let’s face it, I wanted to be a Jedi. So I stopped playing each of those after the 30 day free run.

I also learned a very valuable lesson from those days – I can not dedicate any time to more than one MMORPG and enjoy any of them.

So fast forward to today. Star Wars The Old Republic is getting closer to release. I am all over Knights Of The Old Republic, which I consider to be one of the best games ever made. BioWare is an amazing studio and they are promising a whole new MMORPG experience in Old Republic, like your NPC ally. I am totally going to get an assassin droid. And everyone is a Jedi, or Sith. I won’t go a lot into it here cause, you know, we’ll be doing an Angry Joe Video about it soon enough, but this game has me all excited. Trust me, I rarely get excited over a game.

But then there is WoW. Sorry Blizzard, I am a Star Wars junkie through and through. My mind is made up. I will devote my online time to Old Republic. My friends are scoffing at me for this. They are WoW pushers. They are taunting me with ‘Oh you’ll be back, you’ll see’ and I hope that they are truly wrong on that. But they may be right. Old Republic looks to fix all of Galaxies mistakes, but no one will know until the game actually hits the stores. I promise you I will post where you can find me in it when it does so we can all go raise some Hell together.

Until then, I am retiring my WoW account. I do not see the point of investing all the time into a game I do not plan to continue with. And I can not wait for Old Republic. I think it will be so much fun to be there on day one when everyone is just starting and grow with the game.

And before you all ask – I know all about Champions Online. If I play that, I’ll do it on the XBox, but seeing as it is being made by the same studio as CoH, I’m not holding my breath for a lasting gaming experience like WoW is. Hopefully they will learn from their downfall from CoH and make Champions a truly amazing game. After all, they are boasting alot about the features they are working on like custom power colors. I just think I will be doing that one more casually if at all. We’ll be making a Champions video too.

And again, before you ask, I will be rocking the side of the …… Well I won’t tell you what side I will be in Old Republic. I’ll announce that in the video.
