Capcom Hear Me Roar!

Stone here and when I say Capcom, what do you think of? For most of you, it is complex controller combos to execute that finishing move. For others it is ‘itchy, tasty…’ and for others it is a little blue guy shooting pellets. I think of those things and others, one thought of which is Capcom you are fucking retarded.

I love Capcom just as much as the next guy, but face it they make some seriously poor choices in their game making. What do you mean you may be asking, well sit back and let me take you through a few examples.

Lost Planet lacked a co-op mode. What? I do not understand this. Talk about an excellent set up to run around with some friends! Oh, and then there was Resident Evil Outbreak, the ‘great’ foray into an online RE universe. But what? You can’t talk to other people for real? You have to go through this stupid set of button presses? RUINED THE GAME!! Same for Monster Hunter. What’s the deal Capcom? Don’t understand the importance of talking to your team mates in real time? Let’s talk about the ass loads of Street Fighter 2’s out there. Look how long it took them to get around to SF3, and finally SF4! Did SF2 really deserve hyper, hyper fight, hyper fight turbo, turbo ass kick edition, shame-pionship waste of time and more? Dear God! Mega man is a joke. It’s the same game over and over and over, and then they put X behind it and confuse the masses. You actually drag out a story a few games too long for RE5 for what reason? Then you have bad ass games like Darkstalkers and Rival Schools and do nothing with them, allowing Darkstalkers to slip to another publisher even! What’s up with that? And you can do amazing crossover games like Marvel Vs Capcom, but you can’t stop making those crappy 1942 games? And you own Strider!!! That game deserves a reboot if ever a game did! You made that awesome AVP arcade game a long time ago. How on earth did you lose that license? And do not even get me started on DLC. Who the fuck seriously charges extra money for what used to be unlockable costumes?

And worst of all, you let that Jean Claude VanDamme Street Fighter movie get made!

Capcom you have a great roster of games and licenses, but I just do not understand why you have let so many things fall behind, like voice in games in Monster Hunter. The tech was there, why are you not using it? It is almost as if you gimp yourselfs on purpose. Why? You have some great ideas, like RE Outbreak, so why did they fail so horribly? Because you didn’t care enough to put forth the effort. Why should you, you are like the king of fighting games. Half your game roster is fighting games yet time and time again you rely on Street Fighter. But you have so much more to offer. Unfortunately you have let your power corrupt you and soon enough you will lose your audience. Things overall in the house of Capcom are not well, and the sad part is that they just don’t care.

I don’t know what to expect from you in the future except for another Resident Evil game and a billion SF4 variants. I would hope you would learn from the trends in the gaming market but I am not counting on that. Instead I will be passing on great games that seem to have a good potential but just lacking in some obvious areas. I see that there is some hope that you can learn, like the improvements on Lost Planet 2, but knowing you the game will ship half completed and you will charge for DLC that’s already on the disc. (cough, cough RE5 anyone?)

And bring back Rival Schools already.
