Gotta Catch Them All, But How?
Stone here, and I will admit it. I like the Pokemon game. Having said that, I do not understand why there have been like a billion Pokemon games, mostly in two versions a piece, every six months since the original was released.
What’s up with that? And what baffles me even more is how Nintendo insists on making Pokemon a hand held game instead of making the ultimate, end all be all Pokemon game for an actual console, like the Wii. Nope, we get Pokemon Coliseum. That is not a Pokemon game. It is an add on for the hand held game. Period. Why?
Do you understand how cool a real console version of Pokemon would be? It would be the worlds most uber MMORPG ever. Ever person you see could be another player. You could have awesome PVP. And you could actually run Pokemon leagues! True blue seasonal leagues that are all real time with real players. You could have trainers. You could have Team Rocket players. You could have science players and more. You could have this ultimate world that could be so much fun. And instead of whole new games, you get DLC and expansions. You could have exclusive Pokemon in each region! Ultra fun quests to catch rare Pokemon and more! It would be an ultimate online world. you could have true weather conditions. Imagine catching a ariny day Pokemon that will set you apart. You could form your own Pokemon Coalition, have a house that is just for you and your friends. You could have battle stadiums, we all know that works pretty well now cause that’s the only Pokemon next-gen games out there. And to think about your custom character creator. Holy crap. And what if you had the option to make a custom Pokemon type, like you could in Spore. How sweet would that be? The possabilities would be endless!!! A REAL Pokemon game on a next -gen system could be hella huge. This game could possibly beat out WoW in a lot of ways. Yes, it could.
Why has Nintendo not thought of this? Release your limitations that are inherit with a hand held system and make the killer MMORPG you know you can make with this property! What are you waiting for? Pokemon is STILL a cash cow after all of these years. It just keeps getting deeper and deeper into it’s lore as the cartoon continues, followed by the games. Does anyone in Nintendo have any sense?
And I would take you all on with my killer Jigglypuff. Eat it bitches!

Well i understand what you mean, most of my friends quit playing MH1 on the PS2 because of the time it would take to get a decent sword at the time but the good thing is that when MH Freedom came to the PSP ( a remake of MH1) so they did learn from there mistakes. I did get a least like 10 to 15 ppl to play it and at least half went on to play MHF2, As for the problem that you cant chat or speak with friends like on WoW, the only port i know is Monster Hunter Unite or something like that,the only problem is that Capcom has decided that they are not going to take the risk to bring it out in Europe and the US because they think they will lose money trying to compete with WoW.

I would think chat would be a given now, especially on the 360. If there was ever a game that needed chat in it, MH and Outbreak were them.

Monster hunter was one of my biggest letdowns when it was released. Check out my Capcom Hear Me Roar post to see why. After the awesome crap that was the first game I just lost interest. I would love to revisit the series. I think they must have fixed the issues with it by now.

Well sadly i out grew Pokemon in like 3 to 4 months when it first came out, it was just the hype at the time i think. thats not saying i did not have a team(Pyscho FTW ^^) but ya if they would made some where you really can play real PVP then maybe ill give it a look, but till then ill wait for Monster Hunter 3 for the Wii and PSP
, btw check Monster Hunter if you never heard of it personally one of my top 5 best games ever, in the handheld version alone i had about nearly 900 game hours.^^

A Pokemon MMO would be pretty rad to have around, why not make a video around some of your ideas Stone?
I grew up with Pokemon a long time ago, though I stopped playing the games after Gold and Silver version, but recently picked up the pearl version, because I was feeling nostalgic. xP
You know what I miss more than Pokemon? Magi Nation, man that game needs to come back, and bring Matt Holmberg back on the team, because his artwork kicked all ass.

The only time I’ve heard Pokemon mentioned in the last few years was when stumbling upon erotic Bulbasaur tentacle rape fan fiction. Now I don’t have any delicious pie charts (just cherry flavour, ugh) to back me up, but I thought the Pokemon franchise reached the height of it’s power over a decade ago. If they had released a console MMO back then it would have been awesome, however console technology wasn’t up to scratch. (I think I still had my 56k Modem back then) Surely releasing an MMO now would be too late.

Oh well, the series died after… uh… I don’t really have a comeback for that. Probably would be best if it stuck to the handhelds only anyway. As it stands, you’re ideas just wouldn’t interest me in the least.

Pikachu can suck my unwashed south lake park entrance sign. Always hated Pokemon. Some good ideas there though, still wouldn’t touch it with a rounders bat if it were Pokemon related though.

They would also have to make the leveling up system more difficult, since it gets boring after your team hits lv100 so quickly.
