Terminator 5 Details – Please STOP TIME TRAVELLING!

In this first video in a possible new series here Joe has details about the already green lighted Terminator 5, the Next Movie in the New Franchise Trilogy by McG.

We’re mere days away from the premier of the hopefully uber bad ass Terminator Salvation and McG is already running his mouth off about what he’d like to see in Terminator 5!
I strongly suspect the next movie is going to take place in a [pre-Judgment Day] 2011. John Connor is going to travel back in time and he’s going to have to galvanize the militaries of the world for an impending Skynet invasion. They’ve figured out time travel to the degree where they can send more than [just] one naked entity. So you’re going to have hunter killers and transports and harvesters and everything arriving in our time and Connor fighting back with conventional military warfare, which I think is going to be fucking awesome. I also think he’s going to meet a scientist that’s going to look a lot like present-day Robert Patrick [who famously played the T-1000 in Terminator 2], talking about stem-cell research and how we can all live as idealized, younger versions of ourselves
Damnit! are you serious? I mean part of the reason why I’m so excited about these new Terminator Films is that they were supposed to take place in the War Torn Future something that as a Kid I always wanted to see more in in T2. What the hell, why go back to the present, it just seems like a step backward.
…and whats this stuff about sending HK, Transports and Harvesters back in time? In T1, Kyle says,
“You go naked. Something about the field generated by a living organism. Nothing dead will go.”
Luckly, WordMan over at the Io9 community has a solution,
“Maybe skynet starts wrapping everything in bacon. That would work right? Shit, not only would it work, but it would be some tasty terminating.”

I agree with you Joe
If they are going to continue the Terminator series (honestly, T2 was the perfect ending to the series), then the movie studios need to bring something new to it. Terminator 5 needs to BE and STAY in the war torn future and tell that untold backstory of the humans fighting the machines. Like you said, the time travel were Arnold’s moments in the series, that’s finished and needs to be left alone. The story is now in the future and we (the fans) can see all the bad ass epic battles unveil. Also, the only time they should talk or mention the past films, is to start giving subtle hints of Connor getting Kyle prepared to go back in time to protect Sarah Connor and it would be f***ing sweet if we got to see CGI Arnold again. So STAY IN THE FUTURE DAMN IT!, I DON’T WANT TO GO BACK IN TIME “AGAIN”, MOVIE STUDIOS YOU OWE IT TO YOURSELVES TO GIVE US A TERMINATOR MOVIE ALL ABOUT THE FUTURE WAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
P.S. – Terminator Salvation was a great film, it was a respectable homage to the original two films. True Terminator fans will love it, but if you just watch the Terminator films just for the action, then it’s not for you. TERMINATOR FAN 4 LIFE!

I agree with you man. This whole goin back in time stuff was for Arnold. Now that were actually in the future i think that we should stay there. I thought that Terminator Salvation was hella good and in the end he they even set themselves up to stay in the future by sayin somethin about how Skynet was still everywhere and they still had a long road ahead of them or somethin like that. they could like, mass produce that thing that shuts the machines down and the war would be almost even. And I loved how there was new shit in Salvation like the water tings and the big ass terminator a the gas station with the bikes. They could just make some bigger more bad ass stuff and end T-5 with somethin hella epic thats bad for the huma ns that no one thinks the humans can overcome that they eventually do in T-6. Bottom line, the time traveling in the past was cool but keep it in the future. They left themselves a huge window of oppurtunity and the possibilities of T-5 and mabey some after that are virtually endless. Lets just see what they can do WITHOUT time traveling.

NO MORE TIME-TRAVELING!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stick to the future. I really liked Terminator Salvation. I want to see more post apocalyptic battles, this time with lasers and T-800 endoskeletons. Don’t make yet another T1/T2 rehash. If MCG want to show us the backstories of some of the characters, then make them in the form of back-flashes. Save the time-machine-twist to the last movie.
Also, a Sarah Connor Chronicles tie-in or reference would be fun.

-No more borring judgement day. scenes maybe just for a few second, like in T4, but not more!!!!
-No abnormal ideas like Connor become a robot … We are praying all day for somehow, or somebody to save the terminator franchise. If McG strongly suspect that he will put his abnormal ideas in the T5 and they let the movie come out…than we strongly suspect too, that we shall be the first fans who is going to put our first DVD FILM into the refuse bin …:( They have to stop this project and remake it, or the audiences all over the world will be very very dissapointed…and McG will lose his respect…:(

what i want to see is a f*cking ending. The whole series is a grandfather paradox on hyperdrive. Think about it, SkyNet wouldn’t exist if the Terminators wern’t sent back in time. The terminators wouldn’t be sent back if John Conner wasn’t born. John Conner wouldn’t be born if Kyle Reese wasn’t sent back. And Kyle Reese wouldn’t be sent back if Skynet didn’t exist. Stop going in circles and give me a f*cking resolution!

Yeah definitively no more time travel – especially if they can send multiple terminators back… Then the only logical solution would be to time travel so far back in time that humans live in tribal societies and could easily be crushed. And if they do this then ofc Connor has to go back and organize the “savages” and then we would basically have Battlefield Earth 2 – and no one wants that.

I have to agree with you, Joe. The “Time Travel” gimmick has lost its flavor after the Arnold terminator films. There should be an evolution of the T-800′s and the impending infiltrations they can perform. Plus they can introduce the concept of the dogs being able to differentiate humans and terminators.
I also hope that they use more practical effects over CGI. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed Terminator Salvation, but some of the CGI was really noticeable, and I hope they go back to basics and use more models and puppetry to bring these death machines to life.

I think they could go back in time before sarah conor was born…kill her parents The End next movie…T6 where they go back in time to the pre-historic time where the robots will try to kill the first homo-sapiens “The Connorectus”

MAYBE go futher in the future where John Conner has been sent to a future with no terminators, because a group of terminators went to that same future. Or even have multi-dimentional travel. ANYTHING would be better than that crapy idea for T5.

stay in the future dude!!! And dip the terminators in ice cream that should make it awesome, this plot device has been used for 3 movies now and I don’t really want to see Christian Bale or whatever actor used to play John Connor(seriously John keeps changing actors) to go back in time, only terminators are allowed and Kyle Reese, John you stay in the future and protect the human race!!

i kind of agree with you about the idees of traveling back in time.
it was cool in the first 2 movies. but i think they are going way over ther heads. and it is just a mather of time, before every one who watched it all goes crazy.
what will the timeline look like. all twisted like an elastic ball.
they better put lots of months figuring out how to correctly making them back in time.
but they could better stay just in the future.

Agreed. Surely a time device is undefeatable? If you f*** up first time; just try again. To be honest, I thought T2 would have been the end of it. At least where plot was concerned.

Yeah, lol, I was wondering what Angry Joe was doing on the AVGN’s side of the battle since Joe does both movies AND games. I don’t mind the movie reviews though, but I wouldnt mind having a video game-based mission instead of just going to see “insert awesome movie here”
