Movie Review: Star Trek
Its no secret that Joe’s a Huge Fan of Sci-fi so this weeks Star Trek Reboot was the place to be – and Joe wouldnt have it any other way than the IMAX theaters in Downtown Austin! Check out the Opening Night Premier, some Fan Interviews and His Review after the Jump!
The SHORT Version::Star Trek is an excellent movie that proves that sometimes hollywood can do reboots justice. This is the kinda film the franchise needed and with quality like this, I hope that we see 10 more movies in the series!
The LONG Version: Maybe Later….
What I Liked
• Every Single one of the New Cast members on the bridge is perfect for the role. I cant choose who is my favorite.
• Space Battles, nuff said.
• The movie has a lot of moments, where they said you know what? Eff It! (in a good way) and actually do the logical thing instead of the “movie” thing to do.
• Captain Pike (Previous Captain of the Enterprise) is a great wise older veteran character who develops a sort of father son relationship with Kirk. The best part is he doesn’t end up dying like other movies would pull so hopefully we can see more of this dynamic.
What I Hated
• Uhm…….I didn’t want it to end?
• The Lens Flares were annoying, but not that annoying.
• Could Kinda be odd to have the Enterprise trekking around while a second Spock exists in the world, why not just consult with him for all the answers to their future predicaments?
• Anyone know why they parachuted to the drilling platform instead beaming themselves there? I know it was more fun this way but, it would have been nice to hear someone say, “they are jamming our transporter”
Video Review Check it out….
SECOND OPINION WITH STONE-
No.
BUT this was one hell of a movie. I love remakes and reboots. Tons and I argued once over the two different versions of Willy Wonka. I hated the original and loved the reboot. Tim Burton is my god. Anyways, this movie kicked ass. It had an excellent soundtrack and I have no idea what Angry Joe was complaining about with the sky drop scene. They mame it very clear the drill emits a field that stops signals and transporter abilities. This movie made me like Star Trek but feel sad that it would eventually turn into that crappy 60′s series. What I loved about the movie is it made everything exciting and it actually had real beastly aliens in it! It was exactly what I expected it to be. What it was missing was that epic feel. It had a bad ass opening, then it just kinda rushes along and has a lot of fun. It did have a great cast from what I remember watching the old series with my mom. I just, I don’t know, didn’t feel anything or any sense of urgency in the story. It was a good story, but it just wasn’t epic. Beautiful movie over all, and i really dug the ship design. My favorite was TNG’s design, then the Voyager. Yeah, I have seen the series before. I actually watched all of TNG when I was a kid. Even that didn’t have me drooling like I do for Star Wars. But this new ship design is freaking bad ass. I look forward to having it on my christmas tree one year so my Death Star ornament can menace it. I want the franchise to continue and build in momentum.
Total 5.

But this takes place in an alternate timeline, therefore Spock would be useless in this case (the older one), as different situations would occur.
Regarding the “What I Hated”
They did say that that platform WAS the transporter jammer.
Regarding the stuff you hated… I wouldn’t think they’d be able to just check with spock prime to see what’ll happen since this is an alternate time line. I mean, SIMILAR stuff might happen, but it would never be EXACTLY like the other time line, ‘kay? (been playing too much Star Ocean… X-0)
[...] Yep, I’m a Fan of the Franchise and I hope we see another. Its not at the levels that the new Star Trek film is, but its certainly better than the X-men Origins: Wolverine Film. I bought a few toys for [...]
But they did explain why they couldn’t use the transporters! Nero and his ‘advance tech’ whateveryacallit jammed their warping and transporter stuff. Only, it was said in some vulcan-like way which makes it hard to catch in all that chaos. xD
Somebody probably explained already~ you get it now right?
THE BEST TREK MOVIE SEINE 2 CAN’T WAIT FOR THE OTHER 2 TO COME OUT
Actually they said, “It’s jamming our tramsport abilities”
Exelent movie overall, I wasn’t a trekkie before this but when I watched It, It changed everything.
Hello,
1st post, so bear with me.
to begin I’d like to say good job in all this work Anger Joe and the AngryJoe team. ( ok enough sucking up. ^.^ )
StarTrek in my opinion was AWESOME! To bad for all those ppl who bought toys tapes DNO ( Do Not Open ) boxes with prices material inside, which is worth didaly squat because there is another reality.
As for the second Spock, yes he is a library to all thats out there but whats the fun in telling. StarTrek is as all intros says “go where no man has gone before” with a cinematic screen, warp drive, barely dressed ladies, photon somethings, barelly dressed ladies, etc.
Later.
[...] out the Blooper Reel from my Favorite Sci-fi Film of 2009, Star Trek! Beatboxing, Scottish Accents, and Goofy Faces. FULL SCREEN IT. You may know this already but I [...]
Altough I was kind of let down after people talked it up too much, I still thought it was a pretty good watch. My sister loved it though. To each their own.
I have no interest in the Star Trek series or movies but I’ve watched this movie about 8 times.
It’s just so incredibly fun and well-cast.
The movie sucked…..
Um actually they did, they said that the Romulans lowered a device into the atmosphere that was interfering with interstellar communication and transporters. A larger plot hole would be why Old Spock didn’t travel to Scotty’s base himself to warn someone about Nero’s plans, then again maybe Spock didn’t know until Vulcan imploded.
[...] If you haven’t been following, let me fill you in – I went to both the Wolverine: Origins and Star Trek Midnight Showings. After being disappointed with the Wolverine: Origins Movie [2/5] (Which I should have rated [...]
