Movie Review: Land of the Lost
Stone here, and I love the Land of the Lost. I loved the TV series, I loved this movie. It did everything it could to look like the original but updated, and it really at no point took itself too seriously. It was fun and campy and very not at all what I expected. There is a certain factor of this movie that I have no doubt leave some people scratching their heads, and there are some things that you see and that happen that will no doubt have some people leaving the theatre. I saw it happen when I was watching this movie with my friends.
Let’s get something straight – Land Of The Lost TV show = for kids. Land Of The Lost Movie = Not for kids. that’s right, this is NOT a kids movie. You can kinda figure it out when they get to Devil’s Cave and the gift shop is selling coffe cups shaped like naked breasts. There’s foul language, ChaKa gropes boobs and crotches throughout the movie, and there is an awesomely funny ass stoner scene. Needless to say, they don’t really warn you about that before hand and there were a lot of people with kids who left the show. All of that aside, the movie is really funny, but sometimes it seems like it just drags on. It’s a predictable movie, but it is fun. And Michael Giachino is rising quickly as one of my favorite composers. This is his third summer score, after Up and Termiantor Salvation, and it is perfectly done yet again. The cast is great and they work so well together. Will Ferrell is funny as always. But for me, it was Danny McBride that made the movie. He was so freaking hilarious.
- Grumpy was awesome. Especially in the giant walnut scene
- The cast dynamic was fun to watch
- The SLEEZTACKS!!! God when they opened their mouths…..
- The score is 100% kick ass
- Way too predictable
- Can Will Ferrell NOT be Will Ferrell? All of his roles are basically the same
- The annoying Chorus Line running joke

This is one thouroughly entertaining movie. It definetly deserves a 3 outta 5, but I give it a 4 OUTTA 5 cause Danny McBride is so freaking funny and the Sleezstacks were awesome and still creepy as I remember from childhood. Go spend an afternoon with your friends and sit back, relax and get some good laughs in.

I saw it with my friend Marshall, and I didn’t go in expecting some groundbreaking masterpiece of comedy like the Christopher Guest movies, I just wanted to see the movie for fun. And, despite being incredibly cheesy, I just thought it was fun.

I havent seen it yet, but I’ll try to go with Other Joe and Jacob. I think that it probably would have been fun if they used a stop motion T-Rex instead of a CGI one. Seems like the perfect opportunity for an awesomely nostalgic sight gag! Ah well….
