HBO’s: The Pacific – “Band of Brothers” Follow-up Series

The Pacific, (Sequel Series) to the Excellent Band of Brothers

The Pacific, (Sequel Series) to the Excellent Band of Brothers

“The Pacific” is the highly anticipated follow-up to Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg’s WWII epic “Band of Brothers.” The budget for this TV Series has been reported upwards of $200 Million Dollars – one of the most expensive, if not THE most expensive TV project ever. Check out the Trailer!

Though I’m willing to bet that while not everyone has HBO to see the series, it will surely convince some to sign-up – and then there’s the DVD sales. Band of brothers did extremely well and deservedly so.

I’ve always been more interested in the land war during WWII that occurred in Europe rather than the Island Hopping of the Pacific. This extends to the WWII games that I play – I’ve never bought any of the medal of honors or other war games that were exclusive to the Pacific.
Despite my preferences i’m willing to give this series a shot – only because Band of Brothers was so engaging. “The Pacific” has some large shoes to fill.

Joe’s Prediction: The Pacific wont be as big of a hit as Band of Brothers, but for those who give it a chance, i’m confident based on this franchises past work that it will be engaging with excellent story telling and deep characters. Menacing Tiger Tanks will be replaced with an even more brutal and violent human element when GI’s and the Japanese fight in close proximity, with far more ambushes and traps awaiting our heroes.

The ingredients are there for a great series, lets hope its put together intelligently. What do you guys think?

Good points raised here. I am thankful to you for that, even so you deserve more thanks than that. I have color blindness. I principally use Opera web browser and consider a number of web sites are baffling to grasp thanks to a careless range of colors applied. Still, here, as the range of colors is beneficial, the design is highly tidy and pleasant to comprehend. I don’t know whether it was a planned and conscious undertaking, or just the ‘luck of the draw’, but I nevertheless thank you.

How ya doing? You picked the ones closed to my heart too, despite the fact I know I am guilty of #1 when I don’t pay attention.

I have a personal connection to the second world war. Any time we can be reminded, I’m for it.

I will definitely watch this. I almost have to. I am working on my doctorate in the history of WWII. If it even approaches the quality of band of Brothers, it will be worth every second of air time. This is one of those increasingly rare programmes that is actually “important”. I am rooting for this one to be a winner!

A doctorate in WWII history? Damn that would be cool to study, thats the only thing I paid attention in history class, and even did extra reading on. But what will you do with that once you get out of school?
