Required Viewing: Star Wars Old Republic Gameplay

If you haven’t seen these gameplay videos already you need to watch it immediately. As you may know from our Top Upcoming MMO’s Series our top two MMO’s are Star Trek Online and Star Wars Old Republic.
While I may not be a fan of the cartoony art direction (likely chosen for its ease on system requirements), I cant help but still be every bit as excited for this title! Fully Voiced Characters, exclusive class mechanics, and heavy story driven gameplay in an MMO!
Open these up in a full screen window or visit IGN. Make sure you watching them in a larger view!
You can BET your ass that I’ll be playing this one (the first game to pop my MMO cherry). If anyone wants to meet up and play when the game comes out i’ll likely be leading a SITH Army.

At first I wasn’t too excited about this game, from looking at its art design I too thought it was a bit too carrtoonish, that is until I seen the trailers. SWTOR looks as if is going above and beyond the standard MMO with its choices that influence the story and it full voice acting. It drew a man tear from my eye, not a full but the watering of the eyes, to see the great amount of effort that is being put into this game.
I am most certainly buying this game and will try to convince my friends to play. At first I was thinking of trying out the pacifist Jedi, but seeing as I am a part of the angry Joe Army it requires me to have a “backbone” something the Jedi lack or soon will. *insert deep dark laughter here”
When I receive a copy of the game I would be honored to fight by your side, my master.
CAN’T WAIT FOR SW:TOR!!!!, Xbox Gamertag as is Name, most likely not gonna happen would be honored to have you on my Friends List Joe.
SW: TOR Class: Jedi Knight
PS: Would very much like to see you rant against the epic fail of SWG…I know you most likely didn’t play it but I want to see what you think this game has come to.
Just added this to Xilinus (not sure what it is? let me explain Organize and manage bookmarks online.:
Yes, Star Wars the Old Republic looks to be a great place where we can all have cool force powers. The fact that it is multiplayer means that we will have many opportunities to make new online friends, but unfortunately, it IS an mmo, so we’ll get the goober players too (“n00bki113r-27 just lightsabred you’re head off!”). I can only hope that there will be less of them and more serious players in the game.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I must take the time between now and when the game comes out to decide which side I will play first. and whether to play a force-user or someone with a blaster. decisions, decisions.
Oh look, the smuggler get the most powerful attack in the game; the all important “krotch shot”
wow that was the dumbest thing i ever saw. They took kotor and kept a single player style and said hey lets put lotsa ppl in it. It would make an awesome single player game but as a mmo its no good. shoulda just put out kotor 3 offline. oh well sitting thru 4 mins of dialoge u cant skip sounds like fun to me. maybe ill get this game to gank the ppl listining to the dialog.
Ah, anger leads to the dark side and dark side leads to destruction… but as a Jedi I will have to stop you Angry Joe, by any means. I will find you and destroy your legion as you have destroyed many lifes as the ruthless sith.
AJ, I know it’s a sith legion but can Bounty Hunters Join to
This game looks fanstastic. The Voice overs are nice and everything. but Unfortunatly I dont think I will be able to play this. My computers are pathetic. Much like the Jedi.
F*** the Sith. I’ve been saying that my entire life, I’ll be saying that ’til the day I die.
F*** THE SITH!
Quite a passionate statement there RaNDM G. Good, embrace that passion. Through passion you gain strength.
here’s an idea, create 1 badass group of like 20 people Jedi’s, Sith’s, bounty hunters, troopers, and whoever they add till the release date. then we wipe out all who oppose u. we will obliterate all who oppose JOE!!!!
Game looks very promising but I’m still not sure what side I’m leaning toward. I know I’ll wind up re-rolling a fuck load though.
I realy want this game ivve played the first two kotors and they were epic, although i was a litttle issapointed with number 2 due to extreme content cuts im looking forward to number three.
Long Live The Sith!!!!
Kotor 2 was made by Obsidian instead of Bioware, that is why the content suffered in comparison.
Do or do not, there is no choice! Sith you must be, yes!
Ah The dark side awaits me will anyone join me? We have cookies
Oh yeah, I’m very excited about this game. I will definetely serve the Sith Lord Angry Joe!
sweet
cept i need a new computer
I’m actually very excited about the cartoony art direction. Once the PS2/Xbox were released, it seemed to me as if the entire goal of video games was to make “realistic” & “life-like” graphics. As a direct result, games have been lacking any sort of personality, or pizzazz, visually. Think about it, name one older game that’s aged gracefully in terms of graphics that WASN’T cartoony.
Awwww yeah, I’ve been an off and on MMO player over the years. I could never find any kind of guild that I liked enough to keep myself interested in a game, but with the Angry Joe Army leading the forces of the Sith, I think I’ve found a game that will keep me hooked.
First, Joe once again THANK YOU for embedding these gameplay footages. The first thing I did after I watched them all was tell my friends about them to go see them.
Second, follow me on Twitter D: I think you’ve missed every reply I’ve given because I protect my updates.
http://twitter.com/kahncub
And finally, I just checked after my recent reply to your CoH/STO beta tweet. They removed the banner for getting the lifetime subscription and the 6 month sub
But if I can find a way to get you into the closed beta (if you haven’t found it already by the time it gets out) I’ll let you know!
Im sorry joe, but Im a jedi through and through. But I will say this; The path of the dark side can never be more powerful than the light.
i know but i’m planing on having a charecter like a storm trooper probubly a bouty hunter or what ever class that they have thats closest to the storm trooper
the closest probably to Stromtrooper, will probably Mandalorian, the class have yet to be annonced, but it have been said that there is Mandalorian in the game and that they are on the side of the Empire, they are soldiers and merceneries, Jango Feet was a Mandalorian and he is the template to the stormtrooper
I will defintivelly be a Sith force user on the release day… Bioware are my favored game companie, and with the fact that they are now merged with Mytic, the team that made the famous Dark Age of Camelot SW:tOR will be nothing short than amazing
krieg, there is 2 faction, both with 4 classes. Old Republic and Sith Empire… there wont be any Stormtrooper class cause they appeared only way later in the Star Wars universe, but there will probably have the Mandalorian as a Sith Empire class (Only 2 have bean revealed for now, the Sith Warrior, and the Bounty Hunter)
btw joe when you said sith legion are we talking an entire army of sith or will there be a mix cause im hoping to play as a storm trooper in this
Im pretty sure all the “bad” characters can team up and hang out. Like Sith Force Users escorted and supported by some ranged bounty huners, so I think its possible.
any one can team inside his faction in SW:tOR, but like KotOR you will have a light/dark side metters, this means inside a Faction you can be good or bad…
That mean you can be a member of the Republic and supporting, but still act as ruthless bastard, Or you can also be on the side of the Sith Empire but still act as a good samarithan to everyone… But you cant change of Factions
Overall all Sith Empire member can team with others Sith empire members but not with member of the Old Republic… much like Warhammer Online if you want, order vs chaos
I’ll have the Champions to play, and then I’m in for the Beta for Star Trek Online. If I decide to keep on with STO, I might not do SWTOR.
But if I do, I’m up as Sith or some kind of soildier class. Or Jedi, if I feel like it.
I’m trying to figure out if I want to pay $50 for champions + another $60 for the subscription plan that will get me into the Star Trek Online Beta – because thats the only thing I’d really care about. $110 is alot just for the right to play a Beta, but I really want STO as much as I want SWTOR.
Hey Joe! You still interested in getting a six month sub to Champions Online to get access to the closed beta for Star Trek Online? THEY REINSTATED THE PROMOTION! http://www.champions-online.com/exclusive_specials You have until August 31st @ 11:59PM PDT to decide if you wanna do it. Let me know if you decide to!
looks bad ass hope i spot you in there joe can’t wait
Joe I’ll totally be playing that shit with you, We shall become the SITH themselves, or more like, the Sith shall become US
Joe, be on the look out for me as Count Boobu…the nicest Sith the galaxy has ever known. (I hear you can actually play like that in the game, lol!)
Oh ya. I’m totally gonna go and buy this game, it looks awesome. ill see you on the battle field AJ!
Definitely man! Its still TBA 2010, but when it gets closer ill try to put something formal together so we can roll out as a SITH Legion! We will break anyone who dares stand in our path! Let the Anger Flow through you and Join our Ranks!
Hahaha, Schweet!
ha yeah joe you better have force lightning. and ill for sure be a bounty hunter
If there’s going to be a legion of evil then count me in. I think a bounty hunter is what catches my eye the most out of all the classes.
dude ill join your ranks lol
I’m not sure if I can go back to paying a monthly fee to play a game (not even sure if this will require one) but if I do I’ll join you for sure! Need an Assassin to… “Vacate” some positions of power for you to take over? I’m your man!
