I utterly enjoyed reading about Star Trek Online PAX Interview – Craig Zinkievich | AngryJoeShow and think it was well worth the read. The only other site I found on Google also was http://www.kregjigk3mastersystem.info because they seemed very insightful as well.
Hello from Argentina (The Game pirate country), good questions lord angry joe.
i hope this wont start with that annoying holodeck borg training
Dude…good job on the interview.
Like, seriously, that was very well done.
Learned a lot of stuff that I’m not even sure was released.
man, that guy was too excited. it sounds like a crazy game though
This was truly epic, we need more angry interviews, you realy ask the questions that everyone whould ask, not the offical bs like how many pixels and how many lines of dialogs.
I want this game. I want Star Wars.
However…
It’s gonna come down cost. WOW down here (Australia) is around $30 a month. 30. Freaking. Australian. Dollars. A month. And it looks like these are going to be monthly too.
I can’t that for both! Fingers crossed Bioware does Aussie gamers a favour, but I seriously doubt I’m gonna get that lucky.
Hey Joe, it is Dustin from A-town, just wanted to say hi and say that this was a great interview and appreciate someone who actually asks what really matters.
I will definitely be going with Star Trek, I am a fan of the franchise and the dual gameplay will ensure a high level of re-playability. This will also be my first, real experience with a space combat game and I am very intrigued and excited about getting into it. I know you are a huge fan of space combat games, so hopefully you will be joining me.
You were at PAX? Cool, if I could afford it I’d definitely get this.
Holy Shit, Joe.
That was SO professional, you keep getting better and better at what you do
Okay I’ll admit it. This game looks like the shiznit:
Space combat=Sweet…
Upgradeable shit=Awesome…
Generated landscapes=…?
Star Fleet=HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!!!!111!!!!!!!!!!
Is there anything else that will make me want to buy this game?
Monthly fee…
IT’S A TRAP!!!!
I haven’t read up to much on this game but I’m concerened about the “admiral” rank. He mentions you get access to the best gear, ships, etc but do you get to control more than one ship and have a mini fleet? From what he was saying about it all being communication based I’m assuming no. If it isn’t how specifically do you achieve this rank of admiral? If its just leveling (grinding) or story based (completing a specific mission grants the admiral rank) then you could be looking at a situation where you have a disproportinate amount of admirals in Star Fleet and entire guilds made out of Admirals which really takes the grandeur away from it.
Havoc Snake – if you dislike the subscription model (about .50c per day) then it’s not compulsory for you to play. I’m certain no one will miss your whine.
Jamie 1907 – Good to see you won’t be playing, I’m sure you and Havoc Snake will enjoy the company in the whine cellar.
AG – Good interview lots of nice info, keep up the good work.
No offense but you are lame lol
a great interview, better than stuff like IGN. dont know much about Star Trek, but ive saw the new movie [awesome movie] and im going to apply for the beta [arn't we all?] this should be a epic game, and with cryptic we know we are going to get something badass when its released [take champions for example] they know how to make an MMO and what it should be like!
p.s people who like WoW should know that you can play MORE than 1 MMO game, because no games perfect and its best to check out whats around. still saying, its as dumb as a guy buying Call of duty and refusing to play other FPS games.
nice interview joe
looks good but not worth 15.00 a month no game is worth that.
u rock Joe. we keep getting this information and it just keeps betting better. but now i got a problem. which do i pick?! i mean star wars does have voice, character development and room to improve. but star trek has my own personal race, me with badass armor and upgradable weapons. help us pick. please i don’t want to join a bad mmorpg. i want the best and your the person with all the answers.
Anything with large scale raids is for me. If that doesn’t change I’m definitely giving this a try.
The guy sounded relutant when you talked about the variation in the game.
I’m really interested in both MMOs…at least I was, now that I’m sure that I will have to pay monthly, Star Trek is crossed in my list of future games, I’m still stubborn and completely pissed about the idea of paying monthly a fee to play the game that I already paid for, I just can’t really get over it.Even though I’m pretty sure that Star Wars will be the same thing, I still put faith that there will be some kind of free way to play, like paying for extra items and things like that, but even though, it’s not the same thing, it would be like playing half of a game, leaving you with a tease…that’s what I really hate about it…
Also, Joe, if you can interview someone from the Star Wars The Old Republic team, please ask them about the price too, I still trust the force.
Ive never really been a fan of either franchise so i’m taking a pass on this:P
Wow now Im really not sure which of these to get, they both sound awesome and if I get STO Il be at your command Admiral Joe.
kool
Awesome interview Joe. Great job. ^_^
Keep up the good stuff!
So body armour on bridge officers? Blow shit up in space? Ability to rise in rank to command a battle fleet? I am so playing this!
The information you got from that interview was top notch, Joe. The online beta is a closed one, but applications are being taken in on their main website right now. Hopefully it’s as good as it looks.
damn joe this game is gonna rock hard. which game does it seem like you want to play more? star wars the old republic or star trek online?
Omg Joe this game is going to rock hard. After seeing this review i am most definitely going to try this when it comes out, and ill have to roll out on star wars. But I’m still concern about the how star wars will play. PLZ ask “why play anything but Sith/Jedi” if you can.
Holy shit Joe! You got information out of him that wasn’t even mentioned before on the net that made me even MORE excited about the game! Good questions, awesome answers, and thank you for posting this!
Sounds like something worth playing :3
Oh, and I look most forward to STO, but not because of the dual gameplay, it’s because of the endless exploration!
