Bayonetta is Shaping up to be one of those games thats looks to have High Production Values, Unique Art Style and Beautiful Visuals but I just can’t seem to bring myself to care too much, its looking like a Rental for me – no matter how Naked She Gets. (Maybe.)

I’m hyped for this game. 8/10 for me. I’ll probably rent it when it comes out, because there’s not much to do after the story mode. However, the demo is very fun. The combat system is fluid and full of cinematic combos and moves. Yes, there are some times when the camera is iffy and there is too much happening on-screen, but overall, the game looks solid. Does it deserve the 40/40 and 39/30 it got from Famitsu? Probably not, but I would be surprised if this game got any score lower than AA.
I don’t know, alot of it seems very pointless, and Im not dissing the games style,I mean,one-button control,WHOOPTIE DOO!!!Yea,I could care alot less about this game 1/10,Im not bashing it because I think its stupid,Im just not into alot of that genre of gaming.
If you are getting this game, I wonder how many times your actually ganna play it? I’ll give you a reason too play this over, and over, and over again!
Booby’s! Just Booby’s!! Yeaaah..! ;P
Personally, I’m excited, because I’m a huge Hideki Kamiya fan (Okami, Viewtiful Joe, Devil May Cry) and I’ve been looking forward to this for a while. As for the the *Ahem* Fan service, I think that’s 25% sex sells 75% Japan being, well, Japan.
ehhhh….rental
Ive say its 5 of 10
I give it a 1. I dont give a ass about this game!!!
ohhh talking bout the joe-meter the ONLY game that’s in 10/10 is nothing else than MOTHER FUCKING MODERN WARFARE 2….srry for that out break i hope u buy it joe cause i wanna see who wins u or ME!..no seriusly buy it!
Well if I have to be fair. This game ain’t making me as thrilled watching this preview or how the actual gameplay flows.
I’d rather sit back with Darksiders: Wrath of War. If there’s a chance, I’d like to see a preview of this one. That’s a badass game at least.
Anyway I’m unsure after seeing the controllers. Like em! Where’s the excitement with that.
one word BORING
Can anyone say “Bullet Witch?”
-1/10
I’m excited for the game for the simple virtue of having the same creative team as the now defunct Clover Studios, more specifically, the same lead designer that gave the world ‘Okami’.
Please Joe dont buy this game or soon the games will only be about big boobs and naked ladies!… hmm well now when i think of it…
I agree with you, Joe, in many things about the game. For example, the replay value can be something near to nothing, the camera might have issues sometimes and they seems more focused on the her butt than in her game.
But well, after playing the Demo (Which is only avaiable for the Japanese Playstation Network Account), I can see that the game is not as bad I thought it would be (at least the Demo). The controls are pretty simple, combos are done fluidly, the camera hardly gets in your way (and you can control it), and yes, the more powerful the attack is the more naked she gets. And not only that, but the Boss fights are AMAZING, they are fun, requires at least a minimal strategy, and everytime you finish one of them, she turns her hair into a giant Black Hair Dragon that eats the boss, which gets REALLY bloodysh and awesome.
The Graphics are good, but there are better ones, but it doesn’t matter that much since you might be only focused on the fight or on her butt (which is really detailed – really)
The Controls are almost the same as Devil May Cry, but unleashing more interesting and diverse combos that doesn’t really occupy the screen leaving you totally clueless of what’s going on.You can also use Taunts if you press the L1 button, with different weapons, there are different taunts, and if you hold L1 for a moment, she will make a dance while saying “I’ve got a fever, and the only cure is more dead angels.”
Speaking of weapons, you can pick some on the ground, like a gigantic axe, spears and swords. In the demo you have 2 “weapon sets” to choose from, her pistols on her hands and feet, or the Katana and 2 cannon pistols on her feet.
The Sounds are good, they sound fitting and the music can shift from some kind of Jazz to a song which I think is her theme song.
My hype about this game raised about 2 points, which was 3 is now 5.Mainly because the variety of combos and weapons, but even though, this is the exactly kind of game that I don’t think it’s worth buying cause it (probably) doesn’t have any kind of Multiplayer or Online mode, I could be wrong though.
So yes, my final score AFTER playing the demo is now 5, not a buy, but a great Rental.
Forgot to say:
1- Her suit is really her hair, so she’s actually naked the whole game, unless if you consider hair to be a clothing. But it’s only her Head’s hair, not whole body (I guess).
2- There are rings that you can collect, that looks like the same ones on the Sonic games.
3- There are power ups that you pick and stock for later use, like…a Popsicle…A…Tiara…and..uh..some butterfly and herbs?…I really don’t know what they truly are….
I kinda like the combat system it looks fun , better then god of war anyway
Well, it sure looks like every 13 year old anime fanboy’s wet dream.
Looks stupid as hell.
Seems like AngryJoe is way more than just half a console gamer. I haven’t been seeing much PC games lately.
It’s not like there was a lot of big release on PC these days… and he still talked about SW:tOR, Star Treck Online and Dragon Age Origins (I know it get out on consoles too, but a gimped version of the PC without the tool set and with a largelly amputated zoom out feature compared to the PC version)
Well, if some people are into these kind of games, they will definitely gonna buy it. & plus, the one who create this game is the creator of DMC1 & Okami, Hideki kamiya. & alot of fans of Clover studio(One of Capcom’s former studio, which got closed in 2006) have high hopes to this game. :-/
Oh yeah, my vote for this game will be a 7.5/10, because I’m not sure if i can try this game out, because my PS3 is gone & my uncle bought it. :-/
Lets see, I highly doubt I would be interested since Hack and Slash is hardly my genre. But from the overall design I think this is a pretty interesting way to make a game.
Base value of 5.
Gameplay- Hardly worth the effort in reviewing, the amount of action in 1 scene is too overhauled to be fun. Dynasty Warriors did this better by giving you crowd clearing and simple to execute moves. This is ridiculous. -2.
Controls- 1 button? I am NOT liking how this is shaping up. -2.
Graphics- 0_o This department wins because of the vastly amazing detail they were able to put on character as well as the design and background is amazing. Almost makes up for its lack of playability. +3
Story- Seems rather generic but I can’t fault it yet. 0
Modifiers
Glasses Moe- Oh you would definitely be shocked at how few glasses girls are as main characters in gaming. An easy +1.
Woman Main- Well this is an uneasy modifer given that it plays heavily on the very sexually revealing scenes making me wonder if that is a good thing. +0.5
Overall: 5.5
Not as amazing as it should be.
From everything I have seen when searching about this game
-Terrible Jpop music for the main theme and fight themes
-twirly attacks and specials that really just involve adding tons of bright pink colors and turning the girl into a blur
-Button mashing action that boils down to a few buttons that are just tapped over and over again in sequence
So in the end it’s a game about listening to bad Jpop music while tapping the context sensitive fight button to control a half naked woman on screen that I won’t be able to see past all the generic bright colors.
EEeehhhhhhhh….2/10? Maybe 3/10?
Don’t get me wrong, I like the genre, it’s just DMC has already done this and looked more impressive and professional while doing so. I’m usually very wary of video games that have to push off ‘lolol 8008135!’ as a selling point.
I NEED SCISSORS, 61!!!!!!!
also, I find it a tad hypocritical that people attacked me for bashing on Dragon Age: Origins because I was interpreting it as advertising sex and this game is being bashed for the same reason as well as a few others. Seriously, do gamers just have multiple personality disorder?
I know Bioware game, i have played them all, finished them too… They introduce some little hint of sex in theyr game, but it’s always in a tasteful manner and they offer some hint of it in the advertisement to attract crowd, but It’s only a little part of the game who can be missed easily in the game and completlly optional…. Here they made it a part of the gameplay… It’S really not the same thing
Well, my preview score is a 7/10. Reason why is because, in my opinion, the game looks rather fun, and in the end, that’s all that really matters. I havn’t played Devil May Cry and I’ve only watched my step-brother play God of War, though these types of games do appeal to me just by looking at them. The settings also seem original in some parts such as the fight on a falling piece of clock tower. Also, doesn’t anybody know that this game is being made by the same guy who made the Resident Evil series?
I don’t play much games but this game looks interesting tho I doubt I’d play it. but you (Angry Joe) mentioned that it looks like “Devil May Cry” you probably already know it but it’s by the same creator as that game and Ōkami.
Cheers from Iceland,
Gummi
I’m with you as far as the hype meter goes – 4/10. A good point was made that the (impossible for most people to get) demo had great action, etc. However, that’s the point of a demo. The question is, which was brought up, can it keep it going? If you do the same moves over and over again they’ll become redundant, no matter how flashy.
A naked woman can only be there to sell the game, because there’s no real point to it otherwise.
The automatic mode is, apparently, for people who just find action games too hard but still want to play. But, if you just want to watch the game and cut-scenes, you can easily find videos for just that a few days after release on the internet. Why pay $60 for the game (or even $6 for a rental) when you can watch for free online? I certainly have nothing against difficulty modes to accomodate various skill levels, but that’s going a bit too far I think.
Of course, it might be a very solid game, but I don’t see any reason to get excited about it.
its gets a 0 from me, i’m neutral. yea, it has boobies but overall i’m not that interested. it doesn’t look near as good as devil may cry. i think all it has is a gimmick for her being hot and naked. the art style is kind of interesting, but not that new. if there are girls like my wife that like playing as girls(biggest factor for her when it comes to games), they might get this game for playing a bad ass female. but in general the game is meant to be played with one hand.
if my wife sees it and doesn’t mind have a naked chick on a video game, and think it looks like an interesting game i will be able to give a review of it. but first impressions is it is a boobie game where they won’t actually show boobies, she will always be covered just enough to blue ball us, with lack luster action and game play.
I couldn’t care less about this. No hack n’ slash will ever be better then Ninja Gaiden, and no jigglephysics will ever be better then Dead or Alive.
I’d give it a 3.
Never say Never when it comes to JiggleMechanic Improvements!
We have scientists working on improving the jiggle!
We are on the same page, Angry Joe. While I like “Spectacle Fighters”, like Devil May Cry and God of War, I’ve rarely felt the need to buy one at full price. I’ve seen games with better fan service and better games with better fan service to boot. The story isn’t catching me either, from what we get to see of it so far.
I don’t play these kind of games.
I’m probably not even going to rent it.
The art style looks good.
One button controls not very creative.
Naked chick always good to look at.
Replay ability very doubtful unless they hide collectibles.
I’ll give it a 5.
@Koari
Thats only at Very Easy mode.
In Easy mode you have to do a little bit more.
But on Normal it’s all you doing everything.
Yeah the Easy modes are pretty damn pointless….but you can just go ahead and skip that.
Knowing the creator of Devil May Cry you’ll probably unlock a few more difficulty modes…..including some insanely difficult ones.
I’m going with a 5, it could go either way really in terms of gameplay imo.
I WAS an 8/10 when I heard it was made by the same people who made Okami… but… one button control? All that with one button? 2/10 just for that.
Well…yes….that naked thing could possibly be partially be to sell more games.
But is it to cover up flawed gameplay like they tried (and failed) with Bikini Zombie Slayer?
I’d say No.
Where do I base that on you might say?
Well I made a Japanse PSN account on my younger bro’s PS3 (got a 360 myself) and got my hands on the demo.
And I gotta say….it was AWESOME.
The action was nice and fast, the combat workes really well the level design is great and there are a few nice over the top fights in there.
If the game keeps the action going throughout this is gonna be a hell of a game.
And the nakedness? Well thats just a nice extra I suppose.
Replayability?
I expect there to be….somehow this game gives me the urge to go back and redo the combat to do even better moves.
After each fight you get a bronze, silver, gold or platinum award…the better you fight the higher the medal.
And it seems there will also be a lot of unlockables.
I loved the demo…the demo got me to a 7/10….seeing some of the preview footage in Joe’s video actually got me hyped to a 8/10.
But the game is far away…there is more important stuff out there….Like Brutal Legend releasing this week.
Solid defense. Still so far the majority of opinions are below the Neutral mark. Looks like it’ll be a hit with Rentals.
Hell no! Devil may cry is much better than this one. This looks like a rip off to me. I’m giving it a 1/10
Im about the same as you it looks interesting but Im still sceptic though I am a dmc fan and bayonetta has the director and some of the crew that worked on dmc 1, 3 and 4, Il rent it first and if I like it Il get it second hand.
also uber lolz at the bell reaction.
For me it look boring… and does it’s me or she sound like the BAroness in the old GI-Joe Cartoon… think Deil May cry looked more interesting and it’s more a rantal game than anything
im not rally looking forward to getting the game
if that music is gonna go on during the game
my head wud explode
Consider this game purchased. I’m not buying it because the chick is hot or anything. No, really.
Devoloper 1: Hey, we just got this used gameplay for cheap!
Devoloper 2: Awsome! Now we can make our game for one third the cost.
Devoloper 1: But it’s terribly repedative obsolete gameplay, nobody will buy it unless we put some really hard work and turn it into a unique game that stands out.
Devoloper 2:….
Devoloper 1: Just kidding! We’ll throw a pair of tits on the protagonist and use a thinly vailed excuse for her to get them out as much as often.
Developer 2: Cool, you make the tits, I’ll make the sales pitch.
Developer 1: Like that’ll be hard! We’ll be done by 6, then we’ll hit the bar!
Developer 2: Ya awsome!
And thus was born Bayonetta. It will sell thousands of copys while Tropico 3 sits gathering dust on store shelves. 0/10, hype meter. 9/10, rage meter.
I bet I can predict what reviewrs are going to say about this game when it comes out. “A watered down version of devil may cry that is so easy you can set up a record player to beat the game for you by hitting one button.”
their trying to hide the fact that they are ripping off devil may cry by adding/changing/removing a few minor details
1. female lead
2. nekkedness
3. instead of devil trigger, hair trigger?
the display on the screen for life and energy even looks the same as devil may cry’s.
I’ll have to go with a 3/10.
1) If one can play this game with only one hand, that sounds like the gameplay is very, VERY shallow.
2) The protagonist herself isn’t my type; even if she gets naked, she doesn’t turn me on.
3) I’ve never been a huge fan of these DMC/GOW type games. I like a few, but they’re few and far between.
I feel that the two things that keeps me from giving this a lower score are the excellent visuals and the apparent soundtrack. However, aside from those, nothing really appeals to me.
Well the one button thing is optional on very easy mode, I should have been more clear on that. My Fault.
Well, at first i didn’t understand what is that one button mode, but when i watch it, i know what Hideki means about that.
Meh. It’s not my thing. I’ll rather play Devil May Cry then this. I bet all the pervs out there will buy this game because of the nekkedness.
It’s about a 2 or a 3 for me. I know it’ll be a great game, but I just don’t like the look of it at all. Give me Ninja Gaiden 2 over this any day.
Joe, when you walk out of the screen, you disappear before actually reaching the side of it
I’m not very hyped, but I don’t really dislike this game either. I give it a 5/10.
I really like games like DMC, but to be honest, I suck while playing them…maybe because I rarely use a gamepad (I’m not owning a PS3 or Xbox 360, and I don’t play that much on my brother’s PS2) or because it’s one of those think fast – smash faster – games where I’m just stuck with thinking instead of, you know, SMASHING things
By the way…her HAIR transforms into her wearings? So we’re basically watching a very hairy lady fighting? That’s…weird.
German greetings,
Blackbot
I guess hairy ladies can be Hot!
Oh and nice catch, Ill be more careful in post production next time!
I’d say it’s a 6/10 for me, it looks interesting, but I’d need to wait for reviews, for all we know, it could be like the latest Golden Axe game, and that didn’t turn out very well.
Look’s terrible, I mean seriously the only reason people would buy this is because she’s naked…That’s it. If that’s your only reason at least play a game with naked women and gameplay. Like, I don’t know…Mass Effect?(Hot sex scene with a Blue Alien or a hot Tough Chick= Epic win. It’s also great to know even though Fox nearly destroyed them saying their game is basically porn, there still putting another sex scene in Mass Effect 2, now THAT my friends means Bioware are troopers.)
Now that Sega finaly understand that Sonic is going the wrong way, they put someone else to collect the god damn rings… And they yet fail, “Hmm… Lara Croft went pretty far with her boobs. Let’s make our character more just as bad ASS and let HER collect the rings!” What’s up with Sega and collecting rings..? I guess no one of the creators got married… O_o
In terms of Sonic going the “wrong way”. have you seen the teaser trailer for their new sonic project? i would. it certainly put my faith back into the Sonic Franchise which i humbly adore from my youth.
Have a look.
Is sonic going back to 2D?
Well, after so many failures regarding the character, Sonic going back to 2D is most likely the case with the new game. Though hey, doesn’t anyone remember the game for Shadow released for the gamecube, XBox, and PS2. Now that game kicked some major a**. It just shows that Sega and Sonic Team aren’t going to make a good Sonic game because Sonic is meant to be in 2D, not 3D. The reason why Shadow did so well with his first official game was probably because he was meant to be a 3D gaming anti-hero.
I actually enjoy games like Devil May Cry and God of War, so for me this one seems right up my ally. Basically what it boils down to for me is game play and story. If both are good I’ll play the game again, or if one is somewhat lacking while the other is amazing then I might still play it again. I won’t play it again right away, and it will probably sit on my shelf for a year or so, but someday I will replay it.
I say that this game is about a 7 on the hypemeter. They sex appeal has nothing to do with that really, but I like the visuals, and combat looks fun. Difficulty would be the only issue I would be concerned about. I don’t like an insanely difficult game, but I don’t like it to be super easy either. I want something that I can pick up and play casually without memorizing all the moves, but I also want something that lets me feel like I’ve accomplished something when I beat it.
The gameplay looks very similar to the DMC games so I’m interested in it but until a demo comes out I’m around 6 on the hype meter.
The fact that it comes from Hideki Kamiya who directed DMC1 and Ókami gives me high hopes for the game.
i give it a7 out of 10 i love this kinds of game but its just the same in every game looks cool but MODERN WARFARE 2 is better XD
Re-posting from my comment on Youtube XP
I must say I’m mostly interested in the visual style than the gameplay. I often have more fun with easy games, like this seems to be, as I usually suck.
But anyway, the auto play might be only for those who don’t want to go deep into the fighting tech and such.
I’ve read an interview with one of the developers where he said that they let their monster designers go nuts and do whatever the hell they want, just making sure it looks cool. That made me pretty hyped about it. I wanna see all the crazy stuff their talented designers can come up with.
7/10, or 3 on the hypemeter.
they definitely made it “look” epic visually, but from what I’ve seen and read myself…..it looks like they are masking the games potentially piss poor gameplay. So I’m kinda skeptical of it. for any game, it will always boil down to gameplay/ replayability. that will always make or break a game. And I’m just not getting any good vibes off Bayonetta. and that really cheap sex appeal tactic never works on me. I have never once bought a game simply because the female character involved looked sexy/attractive. but that’s just me.
I will admit that it is a perk, but no reason to buy a game strictly because of it, in my opinion.
