I trust Game Informer a hell of a lot more than I trust Rebellion. After seeing them shit over enough games to not want to bother with them, they went and killed a sequel to one of the first decent Vietnam war console games. Fuck them for deciding zombies belonged in the Vietnam war, and fuck their shitty game. It has none of the fun of the first one. If the Shellshock series starts back up again I hope a good developer gets their hands on it. Maybe they can undo the damage rebellion did. Overall, while the complaints about GI’s review are valid, I still trust them. They haven’t really steered me wrong yet with their reviews.
Regardless if it’s political or religious views, race, size, or orientation- everyone deserves to be and become who they are. As long as they’re not harming anybody, why not?

That Gameinformer review was major ”BS”!!! Also, this Ben Reeves guy’s complains about the game are BS, too many Aliens to kill on the human campagin? What a big WUSS! Too much stealth in the predator campagin? Correct me if I’m wrong but aren’t predators suppost to use THAT?!?!
Look even though I’ve never played game, even though I want to, the game is better than that. My friend the five ton man has played the game and said it was amazing and i take his word for it. Also there was another crappy review for the game at X -play a FRIKEN 2 out of 5, and I for one thought it at least diserved at least a 3 or maybe by surprise a 4 out of 5!
Why is he an idiot? Why is this game all about multiplayer? because you say so? If its all about multiplayer then dont put a singleplayer campaign on there? Why tack on a crap single player just so they can charge the full price for a game?
Futuremark got it right with Shattered horizon, they wanted to stick to multiplayer for whatever reason, the game is still a little thin on content but i would hate to imagine what it would be like if they had to do multiplayer and singleplayer. The multiplayer would have suffered and i doubt the singleplayer would have been any good.
To top it off they priced the game accordingly, no singleplayer meant a cheaper game.
So you cant say the only thing that matters about AVP is multiplayer when the developer adds and charges for on the retial price a Single Player experience.

i played the demo with 6 players i was damn lucky to get that many friends play the game i loved the demo
alltough i wanted to have full 8 players with me it would have ben great
and the gameinformer review = bullshit

so played the game on pc and I really don’t understand how a game like this could be released.
This game will go in the trash bin with STO and to many others with it.
This game is really bad AI sucks so bade they should have left single player out.
Alien controll suck. marine shooting feels like your firing blanks.
And pred well he sucks the least of them all but stil its retarded.
Finishing moves are so lame I can’t even start to explain why this makes no sence.

I played AVP 2 till the very end.
I think that the reviewer did not realize that Aliens has very linear corridors and not a lot of very open areas. Also, he focuses a lot on the negatives and mentions almost no positives. What’s up with that Mr. Negative Nancy?
The gamespot review gave it a 5.5 for bad controls and level design. Giant Bomb gave it a 2/5 for lousy single player and generic multiplayer. Can’t wait to see what Joe thinks.
Well have the game… and well it’s not quite good… the campaing is short, the story is boring nearly absent. The gameplay well it’s the same as in the demo, it’s buggued… disapointed
Thank you! God, I hated explaining that to everyone…so you’re taking a lot of weight off my shoulders! WHY would you make AVP…a franchise ENTIRELY about humans VS aliens VS predator(s)…and the teamwork that involves…FREE FOR ALL?! Seriously…all of the ‘balance’ they worked years to tweek just gets chucked right out the damn window when you have marines running around blowing each other up and aliens shanking each other in the back everytime one of them gets a kill.
The FFA mode is especially stupid considering that the “execution” style kills all have like 8 second animations that leave you completely exposed to an execution yourself. I don’t know how many times on the demo I literally saw a reverse “leap frog” effect of 5 players in a line killing someone who was in the animation of executing someone else.

Now that the game is out…I can honestly say I feel that the early review Ben Reeves gave out was utter shit and the guy has never played the previous games or even seen any of the movies. Only two things upset me about the game: No dedicated servers upon release (PC gamer here), though Rebellion has said they are going to be released soon. The other is a pc issue regarding stuttering during gameplay in the video which is hopefully being addressed.
After playing the game I must say it’s honestly one of the better games I have ever played, even the story works out well. It plays on the strengths and weaknesses of each race perfectly and is one of those great games to play in the dark. Each race is easy enough to control (they even give you two ways to wall-walk as an Alien: button press transition or free-based), the graphics look gorgeous, and the melee system is not hard at all to master. I believe Rebellion has done a great job overall and this is a title very much worth the asking price.
Once i finally got the demo to be working on my pc it lagged so much i couldnt play it for more than 1 minute.
I think he was spot on, what I’ve heard is that it was garbage, the story was subpar and the multi was juck and underwhelming
Didn’t like the demo and it was more than just the fact the multiplayer mode was misjudged. It just felt like the earlier games with better graphics and worse gameplay.
Personally I think that games should be afforded two scores one for the single player content and one for multiplayer. I’m not a huge fan of multiplayer so if it sucks and drives down the rating I won’t buy it and miss out on a good single player experience and vice versa.
I do have to say one thing about the GI review, even the earlier games confused the hell out’ve me in regard to the alien wall-walking and that was with a mouse and keyboard. With a game pad….. *shudder*.

Totally agree with this, making the demo Multiplayer only was a large mistake, as all games where the demo was multiplayer only (Army of Two: 40th Day.. uhh.. ect..) have sucked, and making it Multiplayer DEATH MATCH only!? that was just a horribly made decision. Nonetheless, have this on pre-order. It better be good.
sorry joe, but to me this game sound like 5 / 10. there will be better soon, regardless the licence. i ll stick with my AvP from capcom.
well what can i say early reviews are usually bias,i have waited a long time for this game,if its got the atmosphere of avp 1 & 2 rebelion are already half way there,the screenshots i have seen of the game look great,i cant play avp2 without crapping my pants,if the the new game is only half as scary thats fine with me lol,some how though i thinks its time to get some clean pants ready and plenty of them,roll on friday,the wait is nearly over

I for one played the demo and loved it. I didn’t find the alien controls confusing or awkward, although i did get a little confused at times as to where the ground was, but the crosshair always points to the floor so, it became less disorientating. The marine felt really tense and atmospheric, i got scared a few times when an alien came out of nowhere and sliced my head off. And as for the pred, well a class that relies on stealth cannot, CANNOT be criticised for being TOO stealthy. This Ben guy obviously hasn’t played the previous games, and just thought to himself “Man…i suck at this game, i can’t play it at all…let’s rate it low”. I think the final game is gonna be freakin’ awesome imo, Can’t wait for it to be released on the 19th…
How can he say the review is crap when he himself hasn’t even played the full game. The review may be right or it may be wrong, but you have to actually play the game yourself before you can disagree or agree with a review. This just seem like an idiotic rant by some avp fanboy.

its fine guys, i read the OXM mag today and they gave it a 8.0 for single-player and 9.0 for online, the said the predator and alien campaigns lacked storyline, and the design of the marines. and everything else got thumbs up!

Yeah, I totally agree! The demo was horribly put together, almost like it was only released to keep some raving child happy for a bit. It was fun if you could get two or three guys together and team-up though.
Still have that itch to get going on the real thing. Which I’m absolutely ssure will ROCK! lol

I played the Demo on the PS3 and after waiting like for 5 min to enter a match (because i have no friends LOL that have the game) i can only pick a marine.
Still love the game, the atmosphere and the feeling of being hunted because i was the only marine its great.
Even if it was a free for all, A type of match i never played.
Wating for the game.

i looooooooooooved the monolith version ! the first AVP by rebellion was lacking a good story mode. But joe, be honnest, look at Rogue Warrior by Rebellion was horrible, they missed the mark, so i highly fear that this new AVP will simply be a lame game, of course i ll watch the review from other sources.

I completely lost faith in GI after their 200 best games of all time. That list sucked hard hard hard.
I haven’t played the demo, so I can’t say anything about it. But the GI review smelled like crap the moment I read it.
Did anybody else feel like the demo was a huge resource hog? I can play MW2 on near max settings and can’t play AVP on low settings without graphical lag. Also the audio level changes too much. The game starts up it was loud so I turned down my volume. I go to join a game the audio gets REALLY quite so I turned my volume back up, next thing I know Im in game being screamed because the audio volume varies too much. Also I agree with IMONFIREGUY I didn’t realize it was FFA until you mentioned it. Also they made the predators too weak and the cloaking sucks. I was sitting in shadows not moving cloaked waiting for an alien to go by but he knew exactly where I was!

hey i got high hopes for this game and sense there is only a Day or so left be for it comes out i wont be trying it but again i am a huge Fan of all the movies and i played most the games so i cant wait i hope this is good

i played the demo a bit
didnt really see much of a free-for-all until the final scores wer divided up (though that could be cuz i was hunting around for back kills instead of tailwhipping other aliens[thought it was just friendly firing jerks])
overall i thought it was an okay demo being a guy whos only knowledge of the multiplayer setup was that there would be 7 different game modes
thats what i get for not really looking into these things
but i still hope the final product will be enjoyable
if the game isnt good, i’ll be joining you on the rebellion assault joe

ha the clip with the smartgun at the end is priceless, i’ve played the demo i’ve put at least….iunno between 10 and 20 hours into it minimum. i have enough friends that have the demo to make the game EXTREMELY FUN. and yes the demo does kinda suck mostly cuz its free for all. but they clearly mention it when the demo boots up “THIS IS BASED ON PRERELEASE CODE AND DOES NOT RESEMBLE THE FINAL PRODUCT” how do people miss that message? its like the only thing on the screen at that point…but none the less me and my friends made it very fun even if you don’t like FFA, it was simple just tell everyone to team up with their own species so it was like Species Death Match. very fun.
I tried to play the demo and I waited a half an hour to play the game and still did not launch me into the game itself. So yeah the demo sucked and the Game Informer review was garbage. I still have high hopes for this game to be good. Plus I cant wait for the possibility of Aliens Colonial Marines. I had been waiting for that game since it was announced for the PS2 back in 2001 and then cancelled. A year ago almost it was brought up again and I am hoping that they will make the game possible.
