The Short Version: The New Aliens vs Predator stays true to the series, so closely in fact that it seems not much has changed since the original in 1999. Despite Rebellion not taking any risks or offering anything radically new, what we end up with is a fun single-player ride and an strongly unique multiplayer component in spite of its dated game design mechanics.

• Multiplayer Progression only unlocks 6 rigid and uninteresting character skins per side. Alien skin differences are barely noticeable.
• ONLY 2 EFFING Multiplayer Maps for Parties of 12-players or more?

To be honest, I found the first AVP film extremely amazing. I loved every bit of it. However, I hated the second film. it didn’t feel as gripping as the first and it was a lot slower but there was a few bits which made me smile but i felt it weren’t as good as the first. Aliens was by far the best film in the Alien Franchise and Predator 2 in the Predator Franchise in my opinion. I found this game good but it didn’t feel strong or gripping enough to keep playing. The Marine Campaign was excellent. I loved the Alien campaign but I didn’t like the Predator and I am stuck on that campaign. It didn’t feel as good as the two. But I felt that Aliens VS Predator 2 Game on PC is by far the best AVP game. I absolutely loved that game and every campaign was unique and thrilling and interesting. If I was a reviewer I would give this game a 6/10 because the campaigns are mostly really good, some good weapons and multiplayer is good but the only thing I can complain about is the matchmaking in multiplayer which took forever. But good videos Angry Joe. Keep it Up!

A fair review.
Hopefully Gearbox doesn’t fuck up Colonial Marines. We don’t need another stumbling block for the Alien franchise. It’s mess-up enough as it is.

with the Multiplayer being so weak, I have a few ideas for their Sequel or Aliens:Colonial marines:
Maybe there should be a Predator Ship map, or an Entire Hive map! or maybe even a Drop ship map?
perhaps playing as Different Ranks, like from wolf to leader for Predator/Drone to King!/ or even recruit to colonial!
How about actually playing as a Queen, adding parts to your Aliens Body Symmetrically! Adding skulls armor and Chains to your predator. via Halo:Reach!

One thing, I would love to see in another game, is to be able to help your fellow marines survive. There were a couple of levels that gave you this option. The first was in the first level where you and a fellow marine are the only ones left and you have to fend off three aliens…only for her to die off screen. Same in the third level where you and two other marines fight off waves of aliens…only again for them to either way die off screen.
I’d love to have a ending where more of your fellow marines made it through because of your actions. And thus! give you a higher score.

Ok, so I think that this was done in the PC Campaign, but Eh,
So on Mutiplayer, 18 Marines are Dropped in an Outpost and a Single Egg is Among them, a Player
Plays as a FaceHugger to Impregnate one of the Other Players, An animation shows the FaceHugger Moving the Marine Along into a Dark area with its long Tail. Soon after, when the Marine Wakes up, the Alien Player Waits for the Right and Appropriate time to Pop out!
the Marines try and Shoot the Fast Moving Chest-Burster with High Health.
it Hides and Sheds its Skin to reveal itself as a Full-Grown Xeno.
it Kills Off Marines Swiftly and Quietly, Head-Biting from Behind and Dragging them off to Cocoon them for the Next Facehugger Player.
the Alien goes in for Stages
-Drone
-Warrior
-Preatorian Guard
-Queen
Every 3-5 Kills this Metamorphisas Happens, and then as a Queen your Free to Run around, or Lay Eggs to Prey on more Marines. it Can Also Give Orders to Other Aliens with the D-Pad.
(the First Alien Can’t Die, so its a Survival Mission for Every Marine)
When Everyone Becomes a Xeno the Match is over, and your Score is Displayed on how Long you Survived against the Other Player.

The extraction mode sounds interesting. The marines could hold out against the aliens, waiting for an evac vehicle, or alternately get from one point on the map to the vehicle. I imagine it would be very reminiscent of Left 4 Dead. The alien team could try to kill the driver of the evac vehicle, or otherwise disable it, or they could simply try and stow someone (like a facehugger) away.
I believe someone above mentioned character creation. Don’t get me wrong, I would LOVE to customize my human, my alien, and my predator. I love character customization in games. It’s what suckered me into getting Brink. The thing is, it’s just not viewed as a necessary or even considerable feature in the FPS genre. It would be more at home in some kind of open-world Aiens vs. Predator RPG. WHICH WOULD KICK ASS.
Seriously, someone make a fucking AvP RPG. Now. Just go and do it, I’m not even kidding.

get to the choppa and why not make it so that in the campaign that you can make your character and then what ever that character is you can choose to look like that or change in multiplayer plus why can’t dlcs be free i mean we already paid for the damn game thats about 40 bucks or so and now we need to spend more money on new maps and other random shit plus fable 3 did suck i thought it was to short and that the stupid thing never let m e do things like trade items with my friend i don’t wanna send a gift i want to trade plus they need to make a avp game where you choose what you are like a predator hunter or something facehugger, xenomorph , marine , spec ops you get my drift also on xbox my live name is michaelsmithern

HOLY SHIZZ!!!! that was ah pretty bad ass video even though it was a review but i think they should actually make the next avp game without the predator and make it the sequal to the recently made game “avp3″ when the marines find the home planet of the alien and go to see and research the new alien species and to experiment with them. but then they have an accident when the new species and the other breeds break loose on the ship and they….well,..I don’t know about the ending but i want it to be hard core and kick ass like in the comic books but i don’t know how it should end. But in the alien campaign i wanted to have a face hugger beginning when you start out. And there SHOULD be a new breed of alien. But another thing is, well lets just say that the marines AND the aliens and WE as the people that are going to be playing as them should be able to customize them as the way WE want them to look. And one last thing is that the marines campaign should NOT be F@#KED with and it should be kick ass as always!!!! And there you have it “AngryJoeShow.com”, that should be in the next and up coming avp game that comes out 11/11/11 called, “Aliens Colonial Marines” and man i can’t wait ’til it comes out!!

I just wish their would be alot more skins to unlock. there is so many skins from the movies and comics why can’t they put those instead. I would prefer the hybrid or the skull alien and maybe the half human half alien from resurrection. for a marine arnold schwarzenegger should be unlockable and for the predator there should be more skins added as well but whatever its just my opinion

the Alien campaign needs to have you evolve, i mean the marine and predator get new weapons and what not where as the alien is stuck with the same tools from the start to end.
like being able to chose an evolution path, be either faster or stronger or heftier so you can chose how to aproach the campaign.

How about a game mode where its a mix of RTS and FPS With towers and different marine, predator and Alien classes and weaponry. also a cover system and crouch, more maps and longer, funner more realistic campaigns.
And also more freedom to choose paths of your own like the Alien would have to infect an entire colony without having its forces destroyed.
That was a freebie………….. Next ones $5

hey yeah how bout this u know how u were talking about different species so why dont they make the alien crash on earth and the we can be a face hugger and not only choose to infect of kid or some random guy but the pets like the dogs and then we go into a zoo and have like 26 different animals to infect (but some would be the same like lion/tigers and wolves/coyotes that way we could have a little diffence and fun with it instead of this one type alien who always has the same goal and plot but instead play as an (i havnt read the comic so give me little leway here comic) a empress who wants a new planet for herself and goes here or some other planet we colonised and then the marines come by and u play making ur army bigger and bigger playing as either the empress and army while also having stealth missions with a coice for ur own alien u’ve made

and put alien life cyle back in the game as option players how dont like it can turn it off in mulityplayer of course and if they need a new alien vs predator exp thay can make a nex-gen alien vs predator extinction a great game al do the alien campain whas too easy but al lot of facehugger and new aliens carrier and raveger. and i love the way it was strategy game.

Maybe the multiplayer is skipped becouse you have to wait on PC with F…in steam for at least 15 minutes to connect and have only 3 other persons playing with you.

i like this game for the story for preds and marines but on multiplayer the preds are too good i mean i could go on a mixed species tdm and nearly everyone will be the preds and im like the only one being something different so if they make a avp2 they should either give the preds a little less power or make the marines and aliens more able to contend with it

i actually really like this game, the only thing that annoys me is the unbalanced multiplayer (preds seem to dominate 90% of the time) and the clunky melee system it reminds me of rock paper scissors or rock em sock em robots but overall a solid title,

i agree AVP is a good gam but i’ve got all the trophies and im lvl 43 now i dont want to play it because i have nothing to aim for if anyone has any ideas to help reply to this

Oh I got another one! A MP mode where 18 Marines are dropped in a simple map. Some of them are impregnated but the non-infested Marines do not know that.
At some point, the chestbursters emerge and can be killed before they grow. But to compensate for that, they are black chestbursters instead of standard ones. You know, the ones that the slime they release, if stepped on, make the marines turn on each other and blow up!
After growing into an Adult, the Marines left have to hunt the aliens down. Whenever a Marine is killed, he is impregnated with a new black chestburster. The team whose player remains last alive wins.
Also, about the Predator, they should take more advantage of the fact that he short-circuits when in water. Like, I do not know, create slots for online perks. One perk for the Predator would be water resistant cloak. It would be an awesome perk and that’s why it would occupy THAT many slots out of 10. The slots remain constant (10) and you get to choose what perks you attach to them. The same would go for the marine and the Alien. For the Marine it would also be equipment and for the Alien it would be substances and resins found in its body. For example, the Spitting Bowl perk would allow Alien’s Concentrated Acid Blood to spit into greater distances when the Alien gets killed.

Ok, I am new here so I thought I would drop a hint or two for new game modes.
Someone here said something about a mode called ‘Get To The Choppa’. This is not a bad idea. Have a group of marines being hunted by Preds and have it being a blue team-red team chase. The blue team has to get to the chopper-finish line before the red team kills all of them. Something like the Marked Man from Burnout Paradise.
I seem to recall some point at the previous games in the franchise where you began as a facehugger and then burst out of your host. You could then have a stealth section trying to remain hidden long enough for you to grow to adult size.
In the Aliens movie, the Space Jockey’s ship was probably where the Queen laid her eggs. Has anyone wondered how did she get into the Colony Complex? This could work well for an escort mission if done correctly.
Joe was right about pointing out that the alien takes chars from the host it bursts from. Imagine it coming from something other than a dog. Like, I don’t know…another alien? What happens when your cross these two? Or (this is me being optimistic) what if a facehugger finds itself attached to a lion?
The Pulse Rifle and Shotgun are not the only guns with an Aliens homage. Several new tech was created in the comics. Something like a sound cannon that could freeze the Xenos. Introduce new gadgets for ALL SPECIES. I haven’t played the game so I do not know what gadgets each race has but a simple look at wikipedia can provide Rebellion with a buttload of ideas. I cannot even begin to detail how many types of mines there are. JUST MINES. Think about a mine that explodes into Chakrams! Also, use more immobilizing techniques for the Predators. They ARE hunters, Where are the trapping nets and booby traps?

Agree 100% with this review tthey should have taken a leaf out of Monoliths title and added the alien lifecycle mode (includes starting as facehugger-worm-drone-queen (after a maximum of 20 kills) and when you were killed you had to star over again its what made the Alien gameplay interesting, a comment for the last poster if its true and Rebellion have turned thier backs on the community and consider it a closed completed game then thier total fools.

I actually took part in their developer forums that put together patch 4 and patch 5……i have to say im very disappointed in Rebellion. After all the hype and promises about this game there was a total of 1 or 2 developers that stuck around after launch to make patches.They even said FLAT OUT in the forum that there will be NO new code, weapons, gear, skins or anything in any further patches. so what we have now we are stuck with….till mod tools, which i guarantee AvP 2010 will never get.
The forum has since been abandoned, not 1 of the developers will answer questions about anything…hell they havent even logged on in 6 months. So if you were hoping for Mod tools, or new skins, or hell even them putting CROUCH into the game, im very sad to inform you that all your hopes are to no avail. Rebellion has abandoned the game and turned their backs on their fans.

Is there any news about the sequel?? I really liked the game but I’m a sucker of aliens and preds…so I can understand the disappointment which has been undergone by those who are less tolerant with the franchise. Anyway, great review Joe!!I I would love to put forward some ideas for the next game, I will do it soon if its not too bothering. See you soon!! and sorry for my English!

I know Joe, Rebellion should make Aliens VS Predator better like the story mode. 1. Put more new Aliens in the Marine and Predator story mode. 2. Make the Aliens story make longer. 3. Don’t not make it no collectables it F**king annoying. Multiplayer should be better like customize like you can make your Marines, Aliens and Predators looked bad ass online but can’t. They should put in a face sucker game mode and a Marine vs Predalien mode that will be awsome in a way. I hope Gear Box make aliens colonial marines awsome not crap

i agree with you joe that REBELLION needs to add new Alien types to the game also the Arnold and Danny Glover along with the items for the aliens, predators and marines. and yea get larger maps but also they need to upgrade the servers because each time i go online it takes so long to get a game ready.

Funny that you talk about a facehugger character… I would certainly LOVE! to jump at a marine face in multiplayer mode and pop randomly when he gets back to is team. As we all can hope is a really good sequel of this game and preferably a more customizable character interface, not just the character itself but in the equipment as well. It’s good to know that you gave it a good review and I hope the voice of the rebellion will be heard! All we need is more choices!
