Toy Soldiers Review
The Short Version: Toy Soldiers is a prime example of a highly polished Xbox Live Arcade game. This Tower defense game adds a few new innovations to its formula resulting in an awesome single and multiplayer distraction – that is if your into its niche appeal.
Toy Soldiers Angry Review
What you’ll Like:
• Good amount of Content with 12 Single player levels and Bonus Challenges
• Both Offline Split-Screen & Online Multiplayer
• Taking Direct control, Sending offensive waves and its WWI theme makes for a unique Tower Defense Title.
• Embracing its diorama style, Its just good fun playing with Toys Again!
What you’ll Hate:
• The Boss’s have a massive amount of life and restarting the level entirely can become frustrating.
• Soundtrack is repetitive and gets on your nerves fairly quickly.
• Airplanes can quickly score points by diving into the enemy toy box making come from behind wins near impossible.
Final Verdict:
7/10
A Good Game

While the tanks are slow that is mostly because the tanks of that era couldn’t move very fast in fact the fastest speed for one type of tank was either 5 or 10 mph. So personally for me (as a history buff) that was a plus on historical accuracy.

I for 1 wazn’t a fan of tower defence games until this came out. I also must say that toy soldiers cold war(just released today) is a massive improvment from the 1st. one. The mini games are to die for and i recomend checking it out!!!!!!!!!

also while playing it on my buds 360 took out the Csar tank by slaming a plane into it. and i got it…. ON THE FIRST TRY! i have not beat it since, so HA! but i feel your pain. i love the WWI motif too! heck, anything from 1900 to 1950 that’s military or toy trooper (sounds more bad ass) related i have sought after.

When you were describing the game it kinda sounded to me a bit like WMW (Wintermaul Wars), a custom game on Warcraft 3 where you basically play a TD game with 3 other people on the opposite team. Its really fun and the main game itself is my favorite RTS game.

This game looks really cool. I just like the fact that it’s a WWI game. Finally there is a good WWI game.

Dude.. you HAVE to record more when you play with the toys! It’s so hilarius! Spoony is also damn funny when it comes to play with toys! Would be cool if you make some more short film or something haha. Anyways, AWESOME review as allways joe.
Oh yea… I would LOVE if you could review Dead Space 2 when it comes out! Dead Space 1 is one of my favourite game. Tho it lacks of multiplayer.

really cool,im thirteen and I can say to anyones face, playing with your army men is one of the coolest things ever,I have a fraking tub of army men from when I would actually collect them, and I recently got into the mechwarrior/battletech board games now too, even though the rules are as long as crap…

I must say that it’s impressive for a little game like this to be as developed as you’ve pointed out, Joe. And I really wish that more strategy games would take the approach of being able to take control of one of your units for the fight. It would change the dynamic of rts games as a whole and take a whole lot of doing, but this is a great start.

then check out rise and fall civilizations at war

Well the shitty men of war did that but they screwed it up….Hey someone remake army men rts, include jeeps, and allow you to take control of you’r soldiers tanks etc etc and allow you to build trenchs

Yeah, it looks like a lot of fun. I might try this one out at some point. I think it’s hilarious that they use a Tsar tank as a boss since the first prototype of that tank was a complete failure and would get stuck in mud and become useless. Also, loved the ending…lol

Whilst i agree with ya jo on the planes and tank blowing up for nothing. But to be honest WWI tanks were slow as hell so it adds to the realism,Thanks in WWI were used originally to grind up barbed wire and treches. I love the bosses because there models off real things
although they are a pain
