Red Dead Redemption Review
The Short Version: Red Dead Redemption earns every bit of its distinction as our first “10/10″ game. Not only is it easily the best western video game of all time but its also the definitive sandbox experience. From the get-go it completely immersing you with amazing visuals, engaging missions, and a plethora of side-activities – The single player is worth the price of admission alone but also offering a full quite of competitive online modes as well as 16-player co-operative “free roam” makes this game a Legend!

• Some of the Side Missions are really intriguing.
• Great Variety of Locations (I was worried by its 1910 setting, but I was wrong – its a strength!)
• Dragging people by Lasso through town.
• Each mini-game is incredibly fun and extremely thematic.
• 16-Player Co-operative Free Roam.
What you’ll Hate:
• Game suffers from the occasional glitches and bugs. (but they are funny!)
• Why cant we play the damn mini-games in Multiplayer? (Poker, Blackjack, Liars Dice, Arm Wrestling, etc.)

80% of the comments here are fucking retarded. How is this game even remotely similar to Oblivion and L4D2? And why are people bitching about the multiplayer? Rockstar didn’t have to implement multiplayer, the single-player mode alone is a full package that’s worth every single penny.
2 things piss me of in this game
1 it isn,t for the pc
2 the protagonist dies
This is a really great game, but I do have a big issue when it comes to the story. It would have been more work, but would it not be awesome it you could play a bad character and have it influence the story. You could play as an evil character and join the outlaws instead of defeating them. It would all connect and would have given the game a whole lot of replay value.
ok, I just wanted to take the time to say that almost every comment to this video is BULLSHIT! why in the fuck are people comparing this game to L4D2 and Oblivion?! why are people so stupid?! and dont even get me started on the cunts who were complaining about the 10/10 rating. that doesnt mean he thinks its a perfect game for all you assholes who stopped the video right after he said 10/10 and complained that the game isnt perfect. On Joes rating scale a 10/10 means that its an awesome game and it has flaws just like any other game. BUT, those flaws mean nothing since all the good things in the game cancel out all the flaws.
So would people stop saying bullshit and jjust enjoy Joe’s awesomeness.
No offense to you, but once your Nerd rage has cooled down consider this: RDR is a game that on the one hand allows you almost complete freedom in where you go and what you do, and on the other hand tells you a story. So we have two major elements of this game here. The problem is: they do not mesh! Your actions have no bearing on the story whatsoever and you have no way to influence the story in any way. You can act like a wild bloodthirsty beast in the unscripted content of the game, but as soon as you do a storyline mission, you are basically forced into the role of sheepish ex-criminal seeking redemption and trying to get his family back wheter you want that or not. Now, some years ago that would have been fine, but by todays standards you can rightfully expect more. This lack of influence over how the story plays out can be considered a major flaw! Especially when dealing with a game that had the production value of a movie.
If you are so generous to overlook that shortcoming, then what is the true meaning between a 9/10 and a 10/10 rating other than the fact that you are hyped up more about a specific game or genre? Sure, no game is perfect, but I expect a 10/10 game to deliver on all major aspects of the game, and as I mentioned above, the storyline qualifies as one of those.
For that reason I don’t think this game deserves the highest available score and I assume Joe wasn’t entirely objective in his rating

Reviews are usually pretty subjective so to speak. I would have to admit that Joe might be a bit biased towards RDR, but in the end, it’s just that good of a game. I don’t mind Joe giving the game the highest rating, since it’s his review and he can do whatever he wants. I thought the game deserved it because of it’s quality and I still do after the end of my first playthrough.
Though I have to be honest, there were some missed opportunities to be had with the game. I admit that it would be a nice change to have your character’s actions actually influence the story to how you want it. And John Marston’s character sorta negates all that throughout the game. But still, I don’t mind it much this time. The story is superb, game is fun, a must buy for gamers, end of story.
BUY IT! BEST GAME EVER!

For me a must buy. WHEN it comes for PC. I can´t affort a console and i have an up to date PC so when it doesn´t get a PC port i will miss an epic game…

hay paulG! zero punctuation always trash talks good games. even if they are good i think he does it to be funny (which it is by the way) but im going to buy this game. i have hered from to many places that this game kicks ass.
Exactly, zp will savage even great games thats the joke. the way to figure out if he like it is “how much” did he savage it. the only true exception is portal and he even acknowledges that it’s weird for him to review a game that is so perfect.
There are a few things that just pissed me off.
1. John Marston is just like Nico Bellic. This “I don´t talk much and i never show emotions” was cool in Action Movies of the 80. But not in games. It feels like he isn´t interessted of anything.
2. The Open-Wold are full with glitches and bugs. Not only this funny “flying Horse” glitches. It happens 5 times that my horse died without reason or i get hunted by the police.
3. The horses are a bit shitty. Ever see a horse that can only run for some seconds?
4. 100% in 30 Hours. Ok there is multiplayer but Even in Vice City i take longer to get 100%
5. The Missions are mostly the same. Ride from point A to B and shoot some people. OK i don´t blame rockstar for that. Would be hard to take more different missions.
I played it for some weeks and i must say it´s not a 10/10 Game. I would give it a 8/10. It´s still a very good game but way not the best open wold game of all times. This is the first time i no agree with you Joe. Sorry.

Joe, I just noticed that your Swear Censorship is a bit inconsistent.
On one of his videos he briefly explains how he only censors things if it is funny.
I don’t no if I’d give at a 10, even on your augmented scale, Joe. A 9.5 definitely, but not a 10.
I don’t understand how you didn’t see the obvious archetypical characters within the game. For example, take a look at the drunkard named Irish, who is an Irishman, the crazy prospector, not only the one, but two hillbillies, the dastardly snake oil salesman, and the ineffectual lawman. I do like how they stay true to the Spaghetti Western standard of “Everyone hates your guts and is out for themselves”. Heck, even Marston is somewhat selfish in his methods, as Landon Ricketts points out. I also wish that the characters would stick around. Once their chapter is done, you pretty much never hear about them again unless you’re willing to sit down and listen to ambient conversation.
I also hated the save system. In a world that huge, I NEED a save system that remembers where I am. It made me think of Just Cause 2.
I too enjoyed the side quests, though most of them seemed to end on a note of, “You’re going to die or go crazy. Have fun with that”. I also found combat somewhat difficult during the day because of the sun glare obscuring my tiny reticule.
I did like the world and its immersive qualities. I just wish that the immersion was worth something, since all you get is money, which stockpiles really quickly. The outfits are a nice way to remedy that, but it still feels annoying watching Marston pick through plants for the 30th time in 20 minutes with no option to skip it.
As for the glitches, I had to restart the game 3 times because of the “Like A Cholo” hydraulics glitch. I still haven’t finished it and hope it doesn’t happen again.

You know what sucks though? My game froze the other night. While I was in public free roam trying to clear all the hideouts. On my way to the last one. One slap to the side of my X-Box later, the system was tipped over and I ended up with the perfect circle error on my disc. I’m hoping if I can get my friend’s unscratched copy and install the game on my hard drive I can play it again.
Everyone should follow the purchase order! The game needs to be experienced. Not played, experienced!

Actually Joe it’s surprisingly profitable to be a good guy. This is the first game where I’ve genuinely made a lot of money being good.
Ten Hut! Okay, I’m sold. I’m a major fan of this genre, both the sandbox free to explore genre as well as the shoot em’ up western genre. I was gonna skip this one actually, but as a faithful member of the Angry Army, I will buy it. oh man you have no idea how much trouble you put me through with this review sir lol. After I saw this review I went to not 1, not 2 but 5 shops in my local store and then tried in town and nothing. I waited a week to finally get this game…………………..and it was totally worth it, that is one fine game.

Everyone that wants the minigames in multiplayer should go to rockstars site and use the mouth off section to send them a comment on it, and post on their forums. Do it politely and maybe they will listen.
Yeah I donno. I got VERY annoyed with this game. My mulitplayer keeps disconnecting Rockstar NEED to patch this, its not my Xbox cos my friend had this problem like once and he’s on it all the time and normally on every other game is connection is terrable and mine is good. But whenever I go on the multiplayer it will come up with the message “You are experancing connection problems with other players” and log me out. I sometimes get like a few minutes of play time where I don’t have any lag so its probably rockstars servers or the game itself.
I so whant this for my PC

This game is realy worth every dimes you will spend on it….and yes its sad when you get 100% you dont know what to do!!! Big world but not enough…well….towns (but its normal we are in 1910 but then again…its a game…made me sad But its en Aw-to the-some game)
I have to agree with PwnerPuppy it doesn’t deserve 10/10, more like 8/10 at best for what they did in free roam.Free roam feels like it’s been strip down and left barren so that rock star can sell you on a later date unlock codes for the single player content and name it “add-on” or “expansion content”.I mean look at what they did with the lasso they removed it from free roam, and a few days later from the games release they started to sell the god damned piece of shit as a “add-on”.this is the type of crap that inspires piracy and rock star and for any other developer and publisher for the matter shouldn’t do this type of shady business practice.
