Deus Ex 3 – Joe’s E3 Best of Show!

Edios Montreal have a Mega-Hit in the making! Angry Joe was extremely impressed with a closed doors demo of Deus Ex 3, a Prequel to one of the best PC games of its own decade. Watch as he interviews the developers with your questions and discover why this game has earned, The AJS E3 Best of Show award!
Deus Ex: Human Revolution – Angry Interview with Jean-François Dugas
Deus Ex: Human Revolution – Demo Impressions
Jaw Dropping CGI from a Square-Enix game – only with actual meaningful open-ended gameplay! Throw in Cinematic Dynamic Takedowns, a great High Tech “Blade Runner” Atmosphere, Varied Dialogue options and Multiple ways to approach a mission and you soon start to see why this was the Best of Show from my own personal experience at E3.
Finally a game that both me and Spoony can agree on. Deus Ex 3 has the potential to be the next mega-hit!
I’ll share the gameplay footage as soon as its released to the Public! I can’t wait for you guys to check this sh*t out its awesome!

The term “Big Hit” is not enough to describe this game, there is no word that can describe this game. I only hope that the producers dont make mistakes. If the games is balanced and has a solid multiplayer ( a combination of BFBC2, Halo technology, RPG types or something like that and not having the mistakes of MW2=Shit) it could be the best game ever!
Remember its my personal opinion.
¡Viva Mexico and Viva Angry Joe!

I’m pleased to see more game developers taking on complex forms of gameplay and storytelling. However, I somehow feel like Human Revolution will be a simplified version of the first Deus Ex game, in terms of its controls. Obviously, consoles do not have controllers as complex as a keyboard, so the HUD and GUI will most certainly need to stay user friendly. Even for that one reason, I do not see myself enjoying this game anywhere as much as the first game. Also, I’ve moved on with gaming, and I expect more from other forms of technology like voice recognition, which should help game design be reinvented, having games go beyond violence.

I must say this game suprised me, and is deffinetive a must play game.
But I can’t agree that it is the best game that was there, cause I’m a “Assassin’s Creed”-fan. So I have to say that “Assassin’s Creed 3 – Brotherhood” is the best game that was there.
But good video, great Interview and good explanation on the gameplay. So I most likely buy this game, like I’ve done with the most of the games you’ve said were good.
On to another game, I’m still hoping you’ll do a review of “Aion”, cause I agree with the most of your review’s. And I like this game and just wan’t to know what you’d like about it and what you don’t like… Anyway…
So last but not least, keep up the good work and you rule.

I’m really interested in the story line besides the game play. I haven’t played the previous games, how will they catch us up with what’s going on in the world?

I freakin love this show. Just thought I’d share that with everyone.

hey joe, did you see Vanquish in te E3, the new shinji mikami’s game ( creator of the resident evil series) that game looks pretty badass, i think you should take a look at it, another thing, when the review of Borderlands joe???!!! please!

Another thing too. Since like 3 months, I started watching your show, Angry Joe. I started to base the games I buy on your rating, your hype and your opinions. I must say I wasn’t disapointed with Borderlands, Dragon Age, Army of two… You made me discover some great games, continue like that

After watching this vid, it looks like Deus Ex: HR is promoted from a cautious buy to a must-buy, if the final product actually lives up to the demo. I was looking forward to Alpha Protocol, and was sorely disappointed mainly because of the problems Joe mentioned. I experienced this facet myself throughout my 5 complete playthroughs, and even playing as a Rambo Thorton was not fun when you had to deal with Type B and Type C A.I. (i.e. Zig-zagging when the aiming system is too fucking slow for us to get critical hits, or my personal favorite, my inputs not registering properly when fighting bad guys with martial arts, resulting in numerous cheap deaths, regardless of the fact that I already used Fury and maxed out the tree.)

Being a fan of sneaking myself, I have to comment that playing the stealth game makes you more of a badass than just killing everyone. Maybe it’s because I’ve been a huge fan of the Metal Gear series and gotten used to that idea, but sneaking makes you a lot less of a coward because you know that if you’re caught, every henchman and his brother will end up coming down on you. Killing everyone on the way in just means you’re not willing to try it like that. But anyway, well done on the interview, and I can’t wait to get my hands on this game.

lmao i typed in Angry Hoe on accident when i meant to type in Angry Joe and it still took me here xD. Any ways nice video.

Stealth is one of my favorite genres! Of course with badass moments. Sneaking without action is lame

WTF JOE? Are you kidding? It’s Like Deus Ex 1. Fuck ME 1 and 2, they sucks.
Deus Ex 1 is awesome and Deus Ex Human Revolution looks like amazing sequel

If you think Mass Effect 1 & 2 sucked, you have no business being a gamer. End of story.

Great demo impressions Joe. No other site gives detailed impressions of their hands-on demos like this. I loved hearing what you got to see behind closed doors. Your excitement and love for video games is contagious. After hearing what you had to say, this has skyrocketed to the top of my most anticipated game and I haven’t even seen any gameplay footage at all!

Yes very promising the first one was good never even played second version. We will see young padawan not a jedi master yet.

Warren Spector promised a lot with Deus Ex 2:Invisible War but sadly Ion Storm did not deliver on their promises..the whole game was compromised due to the cross platform PC and XBox 1 development .He was also quoted in saying DX:IW could be completed without firing a single shot! Yeah right mate..
So thankfully the franchise is back on course again with part 3.Perhaps we will see how Bob Page rose to power in this one?

I need to see some gameplay before I put this on my “must buy list”. Also I think Alpha Protocol was done well, I had no issues with it whatsoever. Joe just went in guns blazing which is why he failed. It’s a tactical stealth game, play it stealthy, lol.
I Didnt fail at Alpha Protocol. Alpha Protocol failed at Alpha Protocol. Its without question that the A.I. in that game is broken and pathetically coded. There are multiple game braking bugs that require a restart from the checkpoint system.
Are there methods to make stealth viable? yes. but they break the game making you NEARLY invincible. What game are YOU playing, LoL!
to me this game was the best i played in years, the ai was great, they climbed ladders and flank you in your hiding spot, throw granades and then beat the shit out of you/shotgun you to death. it really made me nostalgic of the original deus ex(how gun skills suck when you start) , they didn’t just sit in cover and waited for you to kill them like in mass effect 2. this game makes you think strategically of how you are going to approach each encounter
the only this i didn’t like was the hacking mini game, but you can just use emp grenades to instead so it’s not a big deal. but i played it on pc, maybe xbox had a bad port
Report this comment
Sit in cover and wait for you to kill them? What difficulty were you playing Mass Effect 2 on? I had the enemies sneak up on me plenty of times and shoot me to death when I wasn’t paying attention. You have to think strategically in ME2 as well since not everything works well against all enemies.
i have never had an enemy act intelligent in mass effect 2, all the enemies had problems with terrain navigation (the map where you get grunt was funny, also the space jail), they always stopped randomly for me to get easy head shots, or sometimes they get confused in a room with lots of cover and they don’t know what to do so they run from one cover to another and never hit you(i just ignore them, i don’t kill the retarded)

I never had one game breaking glitch. And I played with martial arts, stealth, and pistols, cuz once you get them maxed you can like instant kill 5 people at once. I played the game on hard and had no problem with buggy A.I because they were so fucking powerful it kept me on my toes to be even MORE stealthy. To me the game played fine and I didn’t encounter a single solitary bug or crappy A.I. Maybe it varies, but I don’t know, lol. AP ftw.

This game looks very promising. When Deus Ex came out, it was such a blast to play. The choices, the familiarity of the world, the good plot and all the dialogue. If they can improve these, I think that this game is going to be really good.
IW’s biggest flaws were(IMO) that it felt constricted. The world wasn’t relateable in the same way as the first one. It felt like any other sci-fi world.
DE:HR seams so far to be good. I just hope that they no matter what, focus mostly on the gameplay, the feel of the world, the richness of the world. And if that means downing the gfx a bit, then so be it.

I have only the best hopes for this game. This looks to be one of the most important games in the next 10 years. Sounds like a hyped exaggeration, but that’s only because of how uninteresting most other games look. When this comes out, other developers will probably try to copy it (poorly).
Wait wait wait… what?
So the stealth system uses covers and that didn’t bother you too much, but in Alpha Protocol the exact same stealth system meant it was broken? I call out BIAS.
Company’s use the same ideas in many cases. Some just do it better. Alpha Protocol wasn’t a very good game, Deus Ex has a great track record, and even as much crap as Invisible War gets, its only considered that because of what it had to live up to and the things they changed. It was a sophomore slump and more series have them. Yes, it could screw up just like Alpha, but I think they will do the job well.
You obviously havent played Alpha Protocol. The AI is hyper aware of your position at all times, regardless of cover. And when you play stealth the game has OVERpowered skills that make your character invisible for your entire combat experience essentially.
I can’t agree with that Joe, I play on the PC version and i got stealth all the way and i was rarely discover even when you have like 10 guys in the same room at Rome. I play as a recruit on the last difficulty level and i did not have that much problem. Once you have the perk with insibility for 20-30 seconds you can pass the “impossible” sneak part as i call them. But other time you can do it without it.
For the Checkpoint bug, i don’t had any on PC except sometimes the numbers of ennemy spawning from a checkpoint was not the same… like sometime they are 3… sometimes only one… WTF ?!? XD
Is this worse than in Mass Effect where when you are 50/60 even on Insanity you can run straight forward and shoot everything in sight without any problem ? Because before becoming invulnerable in Alpha Protocol I had to level up infiltration a lot and i was really invicible at the end not before. Its like in Dragon Age… Playing Hard and Nightmare on Xbox 360 and after 10-20 hours its a child game. Revenant die in 20 seconds without being able to attack, not to talk Hight Dragon who are completly blast off by Death Hex… Difficulty is not a good way.
- Alpha Protocol superior on PC,
- Mass Effect 2 fairly equal some people had problem with stupid IA but i do not so i can’t tell if my PC version is better than my 360 version.
- Dragon Age i would say PC all the way even playing on Xbox 360 because Edge of Reality or something like that did a really poor job as cross platforming tool.

I find it sad that this is the only game I’m really hyped up for (Halo: Reach, GoW3, CoD: Black Ops, bleh I’m already obligated to buy them due to popularity). I recently played through Deus Ex 1 for the first time, very excellent game (One of the best even now). 2nd Deus Ex wasn’t even playable on my computer due to inconsistent slow motion and no widescreen support (Hell I didn’t even play through the 1st level).
Anyway can’t wait for this game to be released (the trailer caught my eye and heart). I also find it sad that this game is unpopular, my friends don’t know what this is.
Awesome interview Joe, btw you never got an answer about the universal ammo since it trailed off to regen health question. Can’t wait for that gameplay footage.

Also why is the Badass seal different, is it because it looks cooler or is it a special E3 Badass seal? I strongly agree this game will be BADASS!

It’s not an officially BADASS! seal of approval unless a shoop-de-whoop gets worked in.

ye don’t bother with the second one it’s a huge let down and makes no sense story wise(if you read all the codex stuff from the first one). you really don’t accomplish anything in the second one in relation to the first one(they just introduce a new enemy that makes no sense), o ye and no citadel and no car WTF instead they have quick time events and resource scanning for HOURS
just play the first mass effect on pc with an opposite sex character, it’s like a new game and hope they make a nice finisher

They dont use the universal ammo system any longer if I remember right.

hey Joe , did you like the Assassins Creed Brotherhood CGI trailer? , that trailer is badass too..
Actually, do you like Assassins creed?

ya, I’ve been hyped for this game for several years now. Even though this is probably not the same game they were developing when I first found the websites more then 5 years ago now, it definitely looks awesome.
My only questions, that no one else seemed to ask (where I’ve seen) is why do the implanted/Androids look different. They had a very stylized, unique look in the original Deus Ex (with the blue outlines around the mechanical implants) and now it seems less obvious. I’m not saying its bad, im just curious why its so vastly different. I am going to assume for now its just further in the future so the technology has become more advanced, but thats just something I’ve been wondering.
Anyway, I agree, it looks great and I am hopeful that it will live up to the great game that was Deus Ex. As far as Deus Ex not being known by many: i recall it being very popular. So either I’m remembering it wrong or somethings weird here… anyway, bleh… looking forward to the game.

If I’m reading this correctly are you saying DX:HR is a sequel? If so it’s a prequel. DX:HR takes place in 2027, DX:1 takes place in 2052 (I think).

There’s a leaked gameplay video somewhere in the internet, and from what I could see from it, Deus Ex: Human Revolution (the correct title of this game) will be much better than the previous one, Deus Ex: Invisible War.
It certainly won’t reach the same level of the Warren Spector’s masterpiece called Deus Ex, but so far it seens that Eidos is on the right way, and they’ll deliever an amazing game.

This game looks incredible. I’m guessing i’ll be getting it for PC since you said the graphics in gameplay were as good as the ones for cutscenes.
