Watch Angry Joe & Spoony Play Kinect! (a.k.a. Look Stupid!)
Spoony & Angry Joe play Microsoft’s Kinect! Apparently Kinect has a problem with blacks, someone call Kanye West!
The lines were insane for dance central (the good kinect game) so we decided to try out one of the casual market’s “party games”. Look at how much fun Spoony is having. LOL!
Spoony says the Kinect fails, I on the other hand think the same but ONLY for core games. I think of it more as a “plastic peripheral” like a guitar controller for Guitar hero but here specifically for the Dance Games (that will teach you the cool dance routines) thinking of it like that, the device is actually pretty cool – I’m so much looking forward to the Michael Jackson Video Game! HEEEHEEEEE!!! SHAMOANIT!!

First of all, spiders are not insects ( common mistake!! )!!! They’re arachnids. Spiders consume bugs and as long as they are not poisonous, they are beneficial!! Most roaches enter homes via grocery store bags, cases of soda, or boxes. Very few gain entry from outside with the exception with the American Cockroach.
So is the depth perception a gimmick? If it’s suppose to read a 3d enviroment why would wearing black matter? Seems like they’re going the eyetoy route and using color to track movements which defeats the purpose of the device.

Mircosoft kinect has some prospects for like star wars lightsaber battle games, racing games, and dancing games. but

While I’m not saying that Kinect will be great (or even slightly average), a motion-control device is only good if used in the right way. It’s more about if the games use the Kinect in a way that makes sense and feels natural.
There’s nothing good about Kinect. According to Lt.Lisa it’s the harbinger of doom and we are all screwed.

this thing kinda looks cool but not the party the game the only thing i really thought the games for kinect was good was that adventurer game, the dance game, and the animal game may i add that to many people bash on the animal game just because there’s to many FPS geeks and the fact is its a kids game im 13 and i have a 24 year old brother who also thougth the animal game was really cool i sotra like milo but this time it was live and not scripted i don’t know why but a lot of people bash on interactive AI games mostly cause they say get a real pet or friend but i think its cool and kienct in my opein will succeed but jugging by the demo you and spoony were playing it still need a fix or 2 but hey we got 5 months till this comes out so we will have penalty of time so what do you think of that animal game joe ps happy late birthday : )

Is this the only developer that has said the Kinect is having trouble reading blacks? I trust you guys and all but its new tech, you didn’t get a chance to try the other games and what you did try looks like shovelware shit. Are we looking at a Kinect problem or developer laziness/ineptitude regarding the calibration of the camera for the software? On the Wii and even analogue controllers you can see the difference between a developer that is calibrating the controller properly and one that is using poor development tools.
That’s a good point to bring up, I haven’t heard of any such problems from other videos i’ve seen with the kinect, and I think some of those conferences had people demonstrate in it, although, i’m just saying that from a foggy memory, the only thing I remember was scanning, cute furry animals, and fun looking acrobatics. XD

D: As for the spoony negativity, I’d like to say that I didn’t really see it like that, you can tell he still had fun being at the place and seeing a lot of new things as well as disliking a lot. He has a bit of a more harsher idea of things is all. he either reallly really likes something, or he doesn’t, or he’s holding judgement, which is hard to rely on (most often we never get what we’re promised) and well, if he really thinks things are going to end up bad, then he should very much so voice his opinion and he does, regardless of what he probably knows people will take as being ‘negative’. It’s also important if any developers of these games ever get to see these videos, that they get the big picture of what he’s concerned about and angry joe is a big effect on that, ESPECIALLY in those interviews.
Plusss, everyone’s got their own opinions, So.. Yeah. XD
(Concerning XCOM Particulary, I’ve never played the original and the preview they gave us for it left me unsure, from spoony’s classic view of what has been done to a series, I’m a little turned off at the thought of it, cause I wouldn’t want to play something if I knew it’s just using a good name and is completely different in quality, but then again, from Joe’s point of view, it could be very good indeed! and his excitement for the potential of the game makes me hope it’ll make up for it and maybe spoony will try it out and give us a more positive opinion of it, or not, either way, i’d love to see a follow up from both of them! )
now, i’m not accusing anyone for being overly against spoony, i’m just saying I see where spoony is coming from. :3
Angry Joe and Spoony definately make a good team on discussing video games, they have a very real passion for them and it shows, especially when they work off eachother on what’s good and what’s bad to eachother individually. Very much like Siskel and Ebert like someone mentioned, they make a good argument over something they love and all we can take out of it is that in that they are doing videogames a very valuable service.
Also, They’re fucking HILARIOUS!
love the video, spoony’s expression is priceless, and Angry Joe is fun as always, even when things don’t work out. Love his dedication to his costume haha.
Overall, I think they had fun, they both had their hopeful moments, positive and negative altogether, and I enjoyed it, I hope to see more soon, so keep up the work guys!!
Oh, and happy late birthday Joe. (Not sure how late. XD but when else will a random person get to do that!?)
Oh. And also, I’m pretty excited for the Kinect myself! >.< It looks cool and I have hope that microsoft sees more of hardcore gamers and casual alike, from the other videos i've seen (like from G4) they seem to have in mind that there isn't such a thing as a "Casual" gamer, just people who like to explore all sorts of gaming.
I personally want a kinectimal and the your shape thing. anything to make mindless workouts fun is a win for me (Even if Wii probably reigns supreme for now with that, and from spoony's vids it seems like they're coming heavy as well) and anything else they can implement that's out of the box.
I'd hate for it to just be a phase/fad, the idea of videogames like this is inspiring,

Have to say, I’m a bit of a lazy gamer. If I wanted motion controls, I’d have a Wii. Sony and Microsoft are coming late to the party in the motion gaming. Though I guess Sony has some experienced with the *cough hack* eyetoy. But Nintendo is good at making this sort of thing, on the other systems it just seems gimmicky and an attempt to cash in on Nintendo’s success as well as a bid into the casual gamer market which for me is a scary thought.
While this can be good news for casual gamers, or those who like to have some more casual choices on Xbox and the Playstation, it is certainly something most of us hardcore gamers just scoff at or think is just plain weird.
Not to mention the heavy RPG gamer that I am, motion technology usually has little place in such that wouldn’t just end up teeing me off with the tedious nature of what it would be.
Of course, just my opinion.
Well, I want to know what casual gamer would fork out 150 bucks! And since its getting trampled on by the hardcore gamers, then why even try to cash in on something mostly thought as a cop out at new technology? But my birthday was on the 15th, so happy B-Day Joe!

Great video Joe. It is short and funny but I think the most important part is that this is the first time I’ve ever heard that Kinect has problem with black colors. This is a HUGE issue as I usually wear black shirts most of the time. It was great seeing you go up there with all black on and the guy tells you to take off your jacket and you just tell him that it is your costume and that you want to leave it on. Kinect obviously just doesn’t work. It didn’t recognize you with or without your jacket. You shouldn’t have to do anything extra for Kinect to recognize you. It either works or doesn’t and this video is proof that the technology simply doesn’t work properly. Keep up the great work Joe.
I still have a little hope for this, cause if you watch Joe, he was ready to go have fun, even if it was having a hard time reading him. Just like at the end of one of the previous videos when Joe asked Spoony what did he actually like at E3 since Spoony was impressed with almost nothing. I feel like it’ll match the Wii in the awesome third party titles that everyone will want, and that the novelty of it will never get old…

Spoony’s boredom gave me alot of entertainment. If I get this I’ll be getting Kinectimals for my daughter, and a dance game of my wife’s choice. The star wars game looks kinda interesting from some of the pictures i’ve seen, but I’ll have to see how well it works. Overall, I’m not too impressed with the Kinect, but thats just cause i’m a lazy gamer that doesn’t feel like moving too much unless I have to.
