Predators Movie Review
Short Version: Predators is finally a step in the right direction after decade of this franchise being lost in the dark. Its entertaining, wont do anything to piss off hardcore predator fans, but ultimately by the end I can’t help but wonder what the point of this particular story was? Its time to expand on the source material, this is a good first step but only just.
What you’ll Like:
• One of my beloved franchises has finally been done justice! This feels like a Predator film should.
• Tension is tight as they keep from showing the predator hunters until the second act.
• Interesting dynamic with two predator factions (that is unfortunately not explored)
• Laurence Fishburne (who is sadly underused)
• Best Moment: The Yakuza on Predator Sword Fight.
What you’ll Hate:
• Average characters and dialogue in a movie supposed to be driven by bad ass personality. Nothing Quotable here.
• Devolves into predictable cliches during the last act.
• Cop-out Lazy Ending that sets up a sequel.
• Basically remade the original. Without Arnold it couldn’t have possibly lived up to it.
• This franchise needs to dive into its source material and wow us next time around or it will quickly devolve to AVP levels of disappointment.
Final Verdict:
6/10

I think you compared this to closely to the classic causing for it’s overall score to greatly suffer. This was a solid movie. 7-8/10 minimum in my honest opinion and I’m really particular about movies.
i liked predators even if it wasnt up to par with the first. i didnt like the second. avp could have been better and avp2 skinny predator jus wasnt tough lookin compared to some from the 1st yet i liked the movie more then the 1st. the only cool thing on the 1st was the back story which made them seem like ancient beings. they need to make an AVP that integrates colonial marines in a future setting since the avp2 leaves off with predator tech in human hands from weyland corp which could hint to the phalanx laser and pulse rifle tech in aliens! even if part of it is in the jungle of the yautja (predator’s) planet or even somehow they set coarse back to a different sector of LV426 since the older queen is nowhere to be found.
they need to do an AVP with pulse rifles and smartguns and the motion tracker and bad ass people with very little civilians…
maybie a prison world like on alien 3
In the movie, Fishburne’s character says he has been on the planet for X number of seasons. They play it off as him having been surviving for a LONG time. Seasons are only a couple days long. The seasons are back to back. If I remember the time frame right, that means he has only been there for… less than a month. To me, this made his character laughable and detracted from the story.
This is from memory. I watched the movie over a year ago. I could be slightly off. Overall though, this movie was kinda bland.
Only problem is they never say how long a predator hunting season is

I think that they really won’t ever give more details about the predators because they are more threatening while shrouded mystery.

I like how Joe complains that Brody is too “girly”, then loves the part in the movie where he’s taking the last predator on, and is totally ripped and tough. Huh.
I agree the should done predator movie in future again colonial marines vs predators, or something sci-fi soldiers against the predators ^^

They fucking killed Danny Trejo in the first half hour of the movie, instead of that freaking Brody or the other 8 or 9 forgettable characters. Such a piece of crap. 1/10.
I really liked this movie, 7 out of 10. Is just nice to see there is still some corny fun horror, BUT still creative actionpacked movies in F******* hollywood (Teh Hell of film making).
I just want some entertainment
What i disliked about this movie was the fact that since it wasn’t the original predators, because these were the renegades, kinda barbarians in the predator world, that ending scene Joe wanted couldn’t be.
And because of that the “honor” theme of the predators wasn’t there.
I almost want a Predators vs Predators movie because of that. So I can see my loved cold, calculating hunters win over the bastards :p
Actually my feelings for the movie have grown since i saw it from a 5/10 to a 7/10.
I wanted this movie to be more good man , I wanted to see how predators fight aliens and how humans cant understand whats going on , explorations on this speaces , but we got some bit nuclear explotion and thats all
no one get annoyed by all the line rip offs for example kill me and ile do us both all the newer movies do it i did like it but
sadly its a very good predator movie, but your right in that some things are somewhats messed up, would have liked to see lawrence fishburn not go crazy like that but oh well.

the greatest moments were the fight of the yakuza and the moment with the russian his death was atleast awesome^^
I hated that the main bit from the trailer where adrian got surrounded by predators and has all their lasers on him was cut out of the film i was so fucking looking foward to that
To me, the whole idea of this movie was to introduce the clans that the Predators have. The new ones want to become better than their counter parts and from what I’ve read on some site I forgot, these new Predators are younger and less wise than their smaller counter-part. They are very talented and from what i remember reading the site, the leader had killed quite a few xenomorphs to be able to lead a clan. I forget about the other two but go look for the information if you want to know about them.

The predators are space hunters, the hunt has always been dignified in its primary movie series. The problem is that they tried to turn it into a horror movie.
Saying things that make no sense
“they adapt, and they are smart” (not an exact quote from crazed Laurence fishburne) i wonder what the first hint was. THE FACT THAT THEY BUILD SPACESHIPS
plus there was the sacking of the original predator design, a very cool design, but the new predator they streamlined all of the features.
the masks were great, the idea of integrating trophy parts into the armor, not just a string of fox skulls but actually integrating a jawbone.
And as al alien world it wasn’t impressive, and how do you not notice that there is a planet in the sky until after you get out of the forest.
The forest doesnt obscure the whole sky, THERE IS A PLANET UP THERE
and the predators were disrespectful of the trophies they acquired from their hunt, the idea has always been treat your trophy with dignity and respect.

But no, and when they track down the humans they kill the man who had eluded them for YEARS killed a few of them.
they VAPORIZED the man killing lion, the ultimate of trophies
The predators behavior in this movie is the problem, they are random berserkers rather than the dignified hunters that i have come to know and love
But here is the thing, they are clearly defined as being of a different sort than the original predator. Being racially different, likely they have different creeds and codes.
So I cannot say it is contradictory to the established lore (unlike AVP)
But i dont want to know about the new predators, i want to know about the ones that i love and know.
And i dont want the original to be pathetic in a fight against the new, Its all just, off putting

Being one who has read the Novels, Mangas, Comics, and played some of the games. The Predator Tribes which all vary in size and such seek honor which makes em look good to the other Tribes which are not in the hunt (Tribes hunting in the same place fight each other kinda like Aliens Hives fighting each other for land control).
There are sub-species of Predators which vary in how they act. They follow their own codes and conducts. Example is Hunter Predators which wear almost full body armor compared to the predator tribal armor. They are hated by all predator tribes for they don’t kill for the honor and such (They also don’t hold back to the sick and/or pregnant). But what makes the Hunter Predators the most hated is the fact that they in a way tamed Aliens as attack dogs (using specialized pheromones and such).
i like this movie its good to see a predator film that hasnt got any xenomorphs in it i also heard about a aliens prequel movie hopfully they will make a decent film from that to though it will never beat the second alien movie
I would like to put in a quick Recommendation for the movie Faster. The new The Rock movie. Since it is one his better action movie since the Rundown or Walking Tall.
I’m with Joe on this one. The movie wasn’t dissapointing like the AVP movies, but there is room for improvement. I liked the movie, I liked the predator vs predator fight close to the end, and Adrien Brody(in my perspective) didn’t do a completly bad job he did an OK job.
The clifhanger ending of this movie(WTF!) I’m sick of those endings.
Also, for the main character role for the movie could have been for: Vin Diesel, Michel Behn from Aliens maybe, Keanu Reeves(just a sujestion), Sean Connery could have been a nice choice, Samual Jackson, I don’t know his name but he played as the bad guy from the first Mummy movie; he could have been a good choice. So movie producers for the Predator movies think about it.

The Predators novels kick ass, But they also lack Arnold and Trophies.
They need to make a sequel, where the MOTHERFUCKING COLONIAL MARINES!!! Are sent on the planet to investigate, and then stuff happens whos with me?

I think Predator 2 is actually on par with the first movie. On first view when I was a kid, I admit I was let down. I saw this in the theater when I was a 11 or so. But as an adult, and watching it about a dozen times at least and getting into the comics and books … Predator 2 is actually pure to the source material.
This movie was good and deserved the ok rating.
I’d have to agree, and actually when I first saw Predator 2 I felt it had even more action, character development, and environments than that first as well as supplying a very unique view into the Predators lifestyle that was seemingly ignored in Predators.
But it’s got pleanty of plotholes, as well as unexplained parts of the story, and Bill Paxton at his most annoying.
Yeah I think I am going to see the movie. But I wont expect too much of it. But I think it would be kick ass cool think to make Commando 2.
Of course with original actors.

But other then what i think of him, i think he would be awesume! Riddick(Pre Chronickles) Vs the Predator! Hunter hunting the hunter! They would size eachoter up and try to play the battlefield… Hmm but maybe taking the Riddick character in there mig seem week in the “Why is he there” part. Well physicly he is very very fitt (yum yum) And he has that voice!
