Lara Croft and Guardian of Light Review
Short Version: You may be skeptical of Lara Croft & the Guardian of Light at first, since Crystal Dynamics took the classic style of “Tomb Raider” game and flipped it on its side – but fear not! This reboot is a good thing. The control scheme is easy and natural, the puzzles keep your attention, and it’s especially fun to play with a friend cooperatively. The sexy Lara Croft shines in her much-needed video game makeover!
What you’ll Like:
• Totek! This game is most fun when played with a friend in Co-op!
• The control scheme is natural and easy to pick up.
• The challenge modes are fun and addicting – you won’t find yourself giving up easily.
• The graphics are gorgeous and the environments feature intricate detail.
• RPG-Like Skill, Weapon & Ability Upgrades that can be unlocked.
• Best Part: FREAKING DEMON T-REX’s!
What you’ll Hate:
• Throughout the story many lines of dialogue are a bit silly and cheesy.
• Occasional Glitches and Bugs.
• Worst Part: Some of the challenges are located inside of levels, so in order to retry them, you’ll have to play through the entire level to get back to the challenge. Can be frustrating.
Final Verdict:

Played on demo on ps3 and well it felt bad.
I tried to enjoy but It is not like Tomb Rider at all.
As You said Lisa Story is weak and I’m playing for interesting stories not pretty graphics.
I would think about 5/10 points to this game.
So what it has dinosaur or that You have to collect things. I played a little but am glad that I didn’t bought this game.

I personally have missed these type of games and the fact that it plays coop and already has 3 4 DLCs is awesome. A Unique game for local COOP – which is imo the best way to play this game .

Hey, uh, Lisa? If you want to make self-referential gestures while holding a pair of pistols, maybe it’s a better idea to free your thumb and use that, rather than pointing the firearm at yourself. ^_^;
In any case, good review. I’ve never played a Lara Croft game before and hadn’t even considered this game before, but I might decide to check it out now.
Umm… O-kay… I couldn’t take my eyes off Lisa’s midriff this whole review… Two points though:
1. “This smokey mirror thing”? REALLY? Are you KIDDING me?! THE Smoking Mirror of Tzcatlipoca, the dark god of the ancient Aztec? How can you just fluff that off? Accuracy is nice! And don’t try to say you didn’t know; you’re gamers! You must have at least HEARD of the Broken Sword series! The second game is CALLED The Smoking Mirror!
2. Dual-wielding guns, while indeed sexy, IS NOT EFFICIENT AT ALL! Firing semi-automatic weapons in each hand is an almost garanteed way to miss at ANYTHING but point-blank range! Another mistake where there’s no excuse; any self-respecting geek knows this!
Other than that, great review! Loved seeing a change from Joe and I look forward to seeing more of Lisa (and her tummy
) in the future. Hopefuly, we’ll see both Joe and Lisa on the same set too 
I hate puzzles in my games. They are as fun as the jail in fable 1 or sweeping floors in Risen.
Video games making me think? Really now? WTF! NO
Like a few others have pointed out, surely a lousy story should get more points deducted from the score than just one point?
Not to mention in the text part you mention even more downsides, so that by itself should strip it off such a high score.
Mind you, it was an entertaining review to watch and it shows you care about gaming, but the score kind of surprised me since from the way you talked about it sounded closer to a 7/10, which still means it’s a good game, just with a few considerable flaws like glitches, a lousy way to get to the challenges and a terribad story.
All the same, keep on making them reviews!

I dunno, i never could get into Lara Croft games before
Every time I see the Crystal Dynamic logo a voice in my head screams: NEW LAGACY OF KAIN GAME N0A. But good to see they are doing a good job on the Lara Croft Francise.
I somehow get the feeling Lisa goes to the gym, she has some nice abs.
Man, Lisa is so damn hot, I’d enjoy seeing her as Lara Croft. Especially if we can get those awesome hax like the internet so loves to create or find involving Lara in a special kinda suit

Still, I’m not sure if I’d play this game, at least not for awhile. I kinda gave up with the Tomb Raider series a long time ago :\

AVGN doesn’t review modern games, whereas Joe does and if you don’t like it then go back to watching one AVGN video a month…..
I do agree 9 out 10 and bad ass seal. I hate Tomb Raider series, but this new Lara Croft franchise seem interesting a much more fun with those hack n slash min max elements. I have no friends into video game, i havent tried yet the coop mode, but so far the solo game itself is excellent. For a next Lara Croft game what about a 4 players coop ! a pulp version of gauntled ^^. Crystal dynamics said that most of Lara Croft game will be available only on download like psn and xbla and will be isometric games, and the Tomb Raider franchise will continue in a solo mode with exploration like the old tomb raider

Even though lisa is a joy to look at, more of the game would’ve been nice.
The first actual gameplay footage appears like 4 minutes into the video and there many pointless closeups that might as well be game footage showing what she’s talking about.

This was a great review. I was really on the fence about this game, but I will definitely give it a try. And I would say that even if Lisa Foiles wasn’t a blonde bombshell with killer abs and a great brain and personality. I hope she’ll do more reviews soon ^^

Interesting. It’s not out yet in Australia but hopefully when it is they’ll have implemented the online co-op or else I wouldn’t really have anyone to play it with. I remember Joe saying this is longer than Kane and Lynch 2, but does anyone know exactly how long it is?
I thought Lisa did a good job. I assume Angry Joe wrote the script (she sounded like a female version of Joe, which I thought was cool) so it wouldn’t be hard to find yourself subconsciously emulating one of the most dynamic and engaging online reviewers. I have to agree that a diffuser gel would have been helpful there, however.

For your first review here, unless I missed something, you did a pretty good job, outlining the good parts about the game and giving us good reasons to buy it, while also touching on some other negative aspects. It did lack Joe’s energy that he always brings to the table, but then again you are not Joe. I wasn’t expecting you to act in Joe’s style. And while it wouldn’t be a bad thing to get more experience and develop a style of your own, I’m going to give this review a solid thumbs up. I hope to see more from you in the future.
Agreed, if people were to compare AVGN’s first videos compared to now, you can tell he didn’t have his character down. It takes awhile to get use to acting in front of a camera while developing the character. With time she can become a god of gaming. Even now I prefer her to Morgan Webb, she went as far as to say “Mario Galaxy was too cartoony”. I don’t think she plays games anymore, seems like she’s always posing for the camera. Vanity has besieged her dome.

The story sounds like Lara Croft got lost and ended up in the world of the Diablo series, she even seem to have adopted a similiar gameplay… This isn’t a bad thing though as it makes me rather curious about this game.

I don’t think it deserves a 9/10. Maybe that’s Lisa’s 9/10 but Joe would rate it lower.
I’d have to completely agree with you. If you notice many people here seem to be more concerned with her than the game which I can understand. Lets be honest though if you heard her review word for word and didn’t know what number she was going to give it would you actually think it was going to be a nine. Maybe she just needs to work on being more excited about it, but the way she made it sound, especially with the bad story, I don’t see how this got a 9/10.
Next time make a review on mafia 2!
