Earlier today I asked my Social Legion (Twitter & Facebook) what movie they were most looking forward to next! I was surprised and disappointed at how many of you missed this over-the-top action-exploitation film by the great Robert Rodriquez! For those that don’t know prepare to be hacked into piece by Machete!

Machete is packed with a star-studded cast just like The Expendables, including Robert De Niro, Steven Seagal, Michelle Rodriguez, Lindsay Lohan, Cheech Marin, Jeff Fahey and Jessica Alba.

Alright so I didn’t see Grindhouse. And I’m young so I never got to an actual Grindhouse, but I appreciate the style. I was one of the few who picked up House of The Dead: Overkill for the Wii and loved it. That being said, after seeing some trailers for this movie, I think it’s going to be awesome. Crazy over the top, bloody gory action with a male lead who isn’t pretty and female leads that are smoking hot. Yeah Lohan is a pill popping drug addict. But she does look good, at least in this fim. As does the Rodrieguez chick.
Anyone getting up in arms over this due to politics, and laws and shit GET THE FUCK OVER YOURSELF. It’s a movie! IT’S ENTERTAINMENT! Pardon my language but if you’re going to act like a cunt over the way your state is represented in a movie, cry us a river. It’s not the first time someone’s home country/state/nation whatever has been presented the wrong way, and it won’t be the last.

LOL your idiocy makes me laugh. You come to this Joe’s site bitching and moaning about how you don’t like his opinion, well what makes you think we give a fuck about your opinion. We don’t care, we come here because our opinions line up most of the time with Joe’s opinions, or we have no opinion but have the same standards in gaming and movies that he has. On top of that, you have obviously watched some of his reviews, mentioning what he said about starcraft proves it. Now I don’t remember if joe said that if there was only one single player campaign he wouldn’t play the game is true, i don’t remember seeing that review, but even if it is big fucking whoop. He changed his mind, he has the right to do that. Maybe blizzard proved him wrong in some areas, where the fuck is it your place to judge him for that.

The funny thing is that when i watched Planet terror on dvd a few years ago. I saw Robert Rodriguez in another movie called “Machete” But it looked nowhere near the same. This one is less badass than the old trailer.

This film could be either realllllllllllly cheesy/terrible or brilliant. Personally I didn’t see enough character or charm in the trailer to even peak my interest. Though hey, maybe they need to fire the guy who makes the trailers, it could be a good film.
Anyways It’s not a film I’m going to go crazy for or get hyped up about.

It is super hilarious that there is so much freakout about Lindsay Lohan and she appears in the trailer for literally 1 second! She doesn’t even have a line!! Judging her screen time by that, she could just be a cameo.
I compare the reaction to Lohan here to the old Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction, which was a fraction of a second that caused a shitstorm. How do you thumb your nose at a whole movie over the mere mention of a name?

I dunno, I thumbed my nose at Scott Pilgrim when I found out Michael Cera was the star. But I suppose the Lohan thing, who is probably in the movie for a whopping 30 seconds before she gets shot, chopped or blown up (*crossing her fingers*), is a bit more of an over reaction.
If anything, Id say the political satire is a more valid (but still not very valid) reason to get worked up over this movie. The people getting mad at this movie because of the immigration commentary are the same ones that say 1984 was anti-Bush administration (The last one, not the first one). But whatever, people will always find reasons to get pissed off at stuff. Their loss. I’ll enjoy watching shit get blown up while they sit and watch Fox News.

I watched the Expendables and even though the fight scene towards the end was epic, I just felt like the movie took its waaaay too seriously and made it into a rather boring monotonous action flick. I mean admit it, if it didn’t have the cast, it would have been a straight to DVD movie. The Expendables should have taken a note on what Machete is setting itself up to be; a fun badass film with over the top action and an obvious storyline that isn’t taking itself too seriously. Machete will no doubt be more badass than the Expendables because its not taking itself in the least bit seriously. This is without a doubt an amazing piece of Mexploitation coming to a theater near you.
Also, I’ll probably get thumbs down for bashing a bit on the Expendables which I apologize for.

I find this entire premise in poor taste, I have done some research on the Arizona Law for a paper on state versus federal powers, and as far as I can tell, the law only really applies to those convicted of a crime. That is to say, it gives the police the right to check the citizenship of people who have committed a crime and, if the offending party is not a US Citizen, he/she is reported to the federal immigration authority. This seems hardly unreasonable to me.
What people don’t seem to realize is that it is expensive to keep criminals in jail, and it is very difficult to keep illegal immigrants in jail because they are citizens of another country and entitled to a trial in their home country.

Agreed, this movie in the end didn’t seem that tasteful to me. This movie would’ve been much better off avoiding politics and just going with the awesome action it has. The rest of the movie is in such a comedic tone anyway the message just seems stupid and not needed.

Okay this movie will kick major ass. Not in a wow this movie is so good, in the wow this movie is so bad it’s good. Trejo is a bad ass no matter what he is in, and is fully deserving of the lead role. As far as the political aspect who gives a shit, it’s a movie, the writer and the director have whatever freedom of speech they want, just cause you don’t share their opinion (I don’t either) doesn’t mean you black list a kick ass movie. It’s entertainment, and when it’s all said and done, this movie will deliver on that promise. Even if it does have lindsey lohan.

Man, I was looking forward to this movie but those goddamn politics… That trailer single-handedly ruined my interest in seeing Mechete. I’m all for the action – it looks badass. But man… Damn it… The message behind this movie seems like a giant, back-handed slap in the face to, uh, I don’t know… EVERY SINGLE UNITED STATES CITIZEN. Most people can get around that fact, but I apparently can’t! Plus, I honestly can’t see this topping the expendables in the slightest; but that’s just my opinion. : /

When I saw this trailer on the big screen, I thought it must be a joke. I mean this was one of the fake movie trailers that came out with Grindhouse (Before Planet Terror) I am amazed they actually made it into a full movie. I guess I am not the only one who thought that trailer was so badass that the movie had to be made.

When I heard that they were making this movie I was excited. When I saw this trailer and saw what the story was, it made me considerably less excited. Political statements have no place in a grindhouse action movie, and it looks like this movie will be ruined because of it.

The plot of these style movies usually aren’t really worth mentioning, and I’m okay with that, but I don’t want to facepalm every time some stupid line is uttered because of its political subtext.

I was gonna see it but. If there gonna go after arizona law which is where i live ill pass. We had to enforce this law cause the liberals in DC were not doing anything to stop the flow of illegals which bring more drugs and unemployment. Two thumbs up for the idea of making a fake-grindhouse-trailer a real movie. Especially as awesome as Machete’s original trailer was.
Two thumbs DOWN for all the political bull they crammed into the movie. Seriously, makers of Machete, stop obsessing over the arizona law. If we waltzed into mexico illegally, tried to get free school for our children and free medical care, would they be as politically correct as we have been? I think not.

My distaste for Action-Exploitation + my distaste for Lindsay Lohan and Jessica Alba = Much yawning during this trailer.
Seriously, Lohan and Alba are two of the biggest examples of pure eye candy in the world, possibly only outdone by Megan Fox. Neither of them can act to save their lives. But I suppose they don’t need to be able to act for a movie like this.
Honestly, I just don’t get the appeal of a movie that has bad acting, a bad script, cheesy special effects and absolutely zero substance. But hey, if people don’t mind a bad movie with lots of explosions, they can enjoy this one with my blessing.

This is going to be the best 90′s film we’re going to see this year! I love every single actor that’s there. it’s Robert Rodriguez’s wet dream becuase he wanted to make this. If the script is very tight and the fights are just right…I know it will be a great success!

In all honesty, the film looks pretty badass. I’ll definitely see it when it comes out! I don’t know if it’ll compete with the Expendables. Maybe on different terms. Expendables looks to have more impact in the action, but this looks more like a comedy/action flick. Should be good.
