Medal of Honor Review
Short Version: Medal of Honor is just average in everyway possible. Perhaps to eager to join the current trends by going “modern”, MOH is unfortunately not quite the production level of Modern warfare 2 and not as refined as Bad Company 2 – making it seem like a game without a strong purpose. Honestly, I would have rather the MOH franchise stayed in WWII.
What you’ll Like:
• You battle in Afghanistan, something that most games have tried to stay away from
• Military Jargon and Atmoshpere is dead on, perhaps too much so that its not cinematic enough
• Excellent sound design!
• Best Part: The Helicopter, AC-130 attacks and ATV riding
What you’ll Hate:
• Relatively Boring but Passable Campaign
• Whats with some of these cutscenes, did Danger Close not finish them?
• Too few game modes and extras in multiplayer to have any staying power
• Game’s Campaign took me ….only “5 HOURS and 37 Minutes!!!” to complete!
• Map balancing needs work
• Worst Part: Why does this game exist?

That was a boring review. Not even a single screenshot of the game… no videos… just a beard talking. It was funny for like 2 minutes. I mean, good points and all, but that was lazy Joe. Real lazy.

Because, as Joe said, ODST is an “excellent” game. It was just short and overpriced. This game was short, and also not a good game.
At first I was like: “What’s that dead raccoon doing on your face, Joe?”
Then I was all: “OH MY GOD IT’S ALIVE!!! KILL IT!”
But then I lolled. I wish I understood what that racoon was talking about, but I pretty much anticipated an average score when I saw this game for myself.
Joe, on the megatives you said this game took you only 5, 37 minutes to play through…..it’s around 1 hour longer than it took me to play through MW2 or BF:BC2
you sholudnt expect these kind of singeplayers to last any longer…..

I think your wrong here about not expecting more than 4-6 hours of game play on single player. i mean sure MW2 and BF:BC2 have strong multiplayer elements but 6 hours of single player is just lazy. Joe is talking about value for money here and the shorter games do not deliver on that. if you look at many different types of games (Action, Adventure, RPG, etc) you may notice that the best games have at least 10 hours of game play if not hundreds. look at MGS for example, ya a lot of it was cut scenes but there was a huge amount of game play there and a lot of it had replay value. MW2, MoH, BFBC2 all seem to fall short on the re-playability.

I was worried that Medal of Honor would be just another bland shooter that’s definetly not worth $60,
unfortunetly it came to that. I’ll probably rent it or buy it when the price drops and I bet ya it will.

Anyway, great review, Joe! I stayed away from MoH since I played the beta way back, it just didn’t seem like the game would be any good. I notice a lot of people are complaining on you because you’re comparing the game to other games in the genre, and because you factor in your opinions. My conclusion is that these people want you to be neither subjective or objective when reviewing the game, leaving you with nothing at all. These people should look over their opinions before posting. Keep up the good work! And get the moustache back! At least it doesn’t take all your women!
This game has the most epic game error though. “You need to be logged in to log out. Please log in to log out”
Man dunno what review everone else was watchin, beard bit was hilarious. Voice was awesome and script was well written. Its always cool to see new and different stuff in the reviews, and good on you Joe fro lettin someone else get their name out there.

this review sucks ass man i love your shows but this game is Awesome it is different in so many ways the story rocks where u don’t fight the Russians u fight different people and u get to be in the rangers and tier 1 guys and the ending of the game is kick ass and some great cut seance oh yeah u get to fight in the fucking mounts of Afghanistan dude like come on what the soldiers do ever day i have more respect for them now then i did before i played this game i so for the most FUCKING PART WE SHOULD ALL THANK THE GUYS AT EA FOR MAKING A DIFFERENT GAME FROM CALL OF DUTY AND OTHER CRAP that is out there part of EA SO I THANK THEM FOR GOING ON AND TRYING SOMETHING NEW and yes there is a problem with the online parts like the fucking lag man really but it s a good game and a different one at that so GOOD JOB EA AND THANK U

I have to say I wasn’t very entertained with this review but to be fair Joe, you have done so many good reviews consecutively its was inevitable at least one at some point will hit an underground low.
But hey, it happens and I have no doubt your next review will be at the great high level of laughter you produce.

One thing I do have to give this game is the fact that it went into unpolitically correct territory and took place in Afganistan. Btw, I loooove that beard!!! lol

This review is probably one of your worst since you cant understand a thing thats being said half the time, i like your reviews cause you give good info and you add a fun flair to your shows, but this one was all fun and no info.
However I completly agree with the score of 5/10, i tried the multiplayer beta online, which most people will prolly play this game for in the first place, and even though i only seen a fraction of the game I could kinda see where this game was going in terms of gameplay, camp shoot move forward, camp shoot move forward etc.
the game seems like counter strike with respawns and viercles.
I actually didn’t mind this review…I mean, there is really nothing much to talk about this game…It’s just too…..average. It’s fun at some points but gets boring quick on single player. And the Multiplayer to me just plays out like Bad Company so much that I might as well be playing that instead. That’s all it is folks, an average game. Stick to MW2 or Bad Company 2.
You know whut. Ignore my last comment about this game. Truthfully, i think i didn’t give it much of a chance to really explore it. I brought it again, this time for ps3. After playing to the campaign again, and dealing with the multiplayer alot longer, it actually grew on me during time. Infact, it grew to the point were it seemed wayyy better than anything in the COD franchise. The graphics did look very good, and detailed, and the i adapted to the gameplay well on it. Not to mention I got the limited edition on ps3 which includes Frontline, (ps3 Exclusive of course) haha. You did make some good points on there Joe, but then again, i can see why most people here are upset at the review, because it didn’t get the chance to be thoroughly examined as it should’ve.
Next time you use it make it to STFU!!

However, 5.0 on the critic scale. Right. This review right here was like a joke, there was nothing informative what so ever.
When reviewing a game, don’t include hype (You did a good job on Halo Reach), there is always a lot of negative flaws in games; that are always clearly pointed out. The positive, good part is then compared to another game which is in the same genre, which gets sort of wrong.
Also, base the review upon the game itself; and not what you like.
Playing games on the Xbox360 is.. okay, get it on the PC maxed out; you’ll pretty much see no noticeable graphical flaws. Medal of Honor is not bad, far from bad, as others said “Single player was superb.” I agree. Probably the best experience I’ve had since Crysis; a dark night with headset, a decent sound card and a top end-rig = War!
Mock the games that really needs it. Don’t destroy the games with a new twist; that you dislike.
I’m just saying: “Lets wait and see what Black Ops has to give us. Might be great, but who knows, might be a remastered Call of Duty MW engine, or a true masterpiece.”

The beard thing was milked to death after about a minute. I thought “well he’s not gonna do this for the entire review is he? Oh…” A potentially great review ruined.

This is actually the first time I can think that I havent pretty wholeheartedly agreed with one of your reviews Joe.
Medal of Honor WAS too short but while it lasts I personally think the single player campaign as superb, with a very realistic/believable feel to everything (certainly when compared to MW2 or Bad Company).
However. The multiplayer was very underwhelming to the point where after playing for a bit I just got bored and would rather be playing MW2, Bad Company 2 or MAG for multiplayer modern shooting. All of which are faaar better than MoH in their own distinct ways imo.
The thing that bugs me with MoH overall is that while the single player game lasts I thought it was superb so I would HUGELY recommend this as a rental game, just not as a purchase. In fact this joines a limited number of games that I adored start to finish but will never play again and really recommend either borrowing from a mate or renting.
(the other two in recent memory are Heavy Rain and Uncharted 1 by the way

Please review new vegas joe! i really hope you like it cause its my now my favorite game of all time, sure it has some bugs (although all my friends copies work fine) but its fucking fantastic!

Medal of Honor wasn’t a bad game for Single Player, however, the MP was complete and utter shit. Who in their right mind would enjoy being shot from god knows where only to spawn right where you died to be shot again? I don’t brag much, but I know I am not absolutely horrible at games to the point where I should be going “Where the F am I being shot from?!” only to see a muzzle flash from across the map and die by the Spec Ops Machine Pistol thing.
Take a look at games like Call of Duty, Gears of War, and Halo for their player to player size ratio. Even the distance from one player to the other. You cannot make a FPS game with that distance against a character the size of a damn ant or as skinny as a toothpick. It just won’t work.
Who would enjoy picking the Sniper class when you get the same amount of zoom as you do with a Rifleman or Spec Ops class except instead of being fully auto, you get semi-auto? Just stupid. I played that class up until level 6 and still didn’t even get a sniper that was worth piss.
Medal of Honor and Battlefield Bad Company have amazing single player gameplay, and story lines. Their MP on the other hand is utter shit.
If you want a good SP, rent this game.

I admit that MOH was not as polished in multi as other games in the genre nowadays. In fact I find it frustrating at points. But it at least feels to me like a real war, where I can die at any point.
But where I disagree with you is your point about Bad Company. I haven’t played the original, but BC2 has probably one of the best multiplayers ever. The maps, guns and vehicles are ballanced, the size of battlefields is perfect. What I dig is the physics. As a sniper you actually have to aim slightly up if you want to score headshots on long distances!
I would like to hear from you why was the BC2 multiplayer shit?
to be honest this review was a bit meh. i really like your stuff joe and i was looking forward to this one. but i think you should be the one doing the talking, not a beard. it is nice however that you`re trying out new stuff. but this wasn`t really great.
as for the review itself, i kind of disagree. (this didn`t make me think your review was bad though. it`s just the beard.)
singleplayer wise it`s just as long as call of duty. but the multiplayer while pretty simple cannot be as a fail as modern warfare 2.. no perks that people will only use in ways that will piss off everyone. no overpowered killstreaks. and best of all. no retarded community that will abuse all that stuff. i don`t think modern warfare 2 is a bad game …in theory. but after getting killed many, many times in cheap, annoying ways i decided to trade my copy in for the awesome mass effect 2 special edition.
but yeah, it won`t top bad company 2. but the battlefield series is one of the best, most refined shooters out there, so no contest.
i will still be picking this game up. and if you are right i`ll let you know, at least i`ll still have bc2 to play though

Of course BC2 crowd is still alive!!!!!!!!!! I am actually looking forward for the Black Ops to come out. Not that I will actually play it, but all the kids who are now on the servers will leave and only the serious players will remain. I can’t wait for that to happen!

You see Joe we come to you because you give good honest review that entertain us and give us facts and while this douse give us the facts it’s mostly just a joke throughout the whole review instead of having jokes and the facts.

this was a pretty funny review, I lol’d like crazy at the beginning when you walked out lookin all awesome and then the beard started talking! But that voice got really annoying really quickly and i lost interest.
one thing is that all of us love this site and look forward (i know i do) on a daily basis to see what the crew comes up with. we all want this site to keep succeeding. if joe does not get comments, both good and bad he wont know what works and what doesnt. he never got any critique then he would turn into……….. michael jackson….. joe’s nose is fine the way it is…
joe i dig that you are going out there and trying new ideas. definately keep that up and push the boundries but make sure you have enough balance between the entertainment and the review information. for example this is the first review that i am not sure why you gave it the rating you did and it is also the first time i had to read the comments to see the pros and cons. every other time you explained it really well and did it in an entertaining manner.
us so called “haters” are just giving suggestions not demands… isnt that part of what a comment blog section is about? and yes i donated to the site. i didnt do it so i could dictate what i want to see. i did it because i believe in and appreciate what they are doing.
