Dance Central Review
Short Version: Dance Central is THE reason to own the Kinect, an incredibly fun, engaging, and exhausting workout! Unfortunately it falls just short of expectations due to some glaring omissions and its bare bones style presentation.
What you’ll Like:
• All of the Dance routines are extremely fun to play through, even during the girly songs (if you dont mind being embarrassed)
• You will have a smile on your face the entire time. I swear it!
• Great for getting you up off the couch and working out!
• A completely new experience – Harmonix has definitely done for dance games what it did for music guitar games!
• Best Part: When you finally just say, “Fuck it”, and go all out dancing your ass of to any and every song no matter how girly or booty shaking it requires.
What you’ll Hate:
• Choose from 8 pre-made avatars, and one unlockable robot. However custom avatars or at least more customizable options as seen in other Harmonix music games are missing.
• Unable to practice specific moves or small sections of a full dance routine.
• Multiplayer is lacking for a “party-type” game. No simultaneous dancing, No Online Dancing whatsoever.
• No Singleplayer story or career mode – Could have been a great “You Got Served” Parody!
• Worst Part: Getting over the initial fear of feeling stupid.
Final Verdict:

i just picked up a kinect and dance central 2 because it looked like so much fun in joes video. and it totally is. it is quickly becoming one of my most played games which is really wierd because i’m an RPG kinda guy and occaisonal fps. thanks for the great recommendation joe!
should i pick the first one up if i have already have 2? any recommendations on that?

We just got a xbox 360 with kinnect bundle. Then got dance central. I play it when ever i can.
It is an amazing game i think one of my all time favorite games. It is fun and addicting. I just want to keep dancing. I even dance at work when i hear the music. Its so much fun and worth the kinnect. I cant wait for dance central 2
With the avatars. They grow on you with there personalities and you get your favorites. Mine is Angel and my friend likes Maccoy . I hope they will bring the avatars over from dance central to dance central 2.

Dance Central is okay but with an exercise resistant mat, it’s even better. Burn up to 4 times more calories while dancing. I saw it at stridedeck.ca. Has anyone heard of it?

NO BS…. You guys KICKED @$$!!!!!!!!! But Joe I think it may not have all the multiplayer and other things cause it was rushed for release and maybe they were afraid they would flop the game. But then again the sequal will have most likely have all that. Also MJ’s Experience is going to kick ass… Hope you review it when it releases…

Why was it that Dance Central could not support simultaneous multiplayer? The Wii was able to have this functionality for their Just Dance games.
Well, that’s completely irrelevant. 2 Wiimotes =/= a single camera pointed at two people.
The Kinect is entirely capable, that’s how multiplayer Kinect games work… they just didn’t put it in this game.

the game that made bought the Kinect, and we had a load of fun and to me dance central deserve a 8 / 10, even if the multiplayer suck a little and i cant wait for the MJ Experience release. i hope you ll do a battle against benzai during the next season of hotel awesome.
Can we say epic party game?
Well, not exactly. It is a very great game, but I agree with Joe that the game could’ve really used simultaneous multiplayer. That way, we could not only get different players dancing to nearly the same moves, but also have the players engage in dance battles like they’ll take a section of the song and dance before a cue goes off for the opposing player to make their moves. This game has a lot of cool ideas for what Kinect is capable of.
