Why are they looking for Hawke to “put the world back together?” Simple. They couldn’t find the guy they wanted, the Warden, so they had to settle for that other guy they heard about.
All points stated as I expected, Joe; except that there IS a “crafting” system… except not on your characters, but on vendors, you just need to get the right materials… and money. =P
One of the things that frustrates me more tho, is the bugs, like the one where, if you had Nathaniel from Awakening alive, he would appear and if not, you have some random quest. SO it happens that no matter what, you always get the quest as if Nathaniel is dead. And instead of BW releaseing the patch that would fix it, they expect you to fix the problem yourself. =/
Yo Joe! great review. But did you play Origins on the pc though ?! cause origins was so great on pc, kind of a Baldur’s Gate 3 way. A fracking huge franchise and gendre on pc. Icewind Dales, Planescape Torment and kind of fallout, put so much time there. Good Olds Days of Bioware and Black Isle!! So we got cheated of the great strategic interface in DA2 as we cant pull back the camera, “bird view” style and be more tactical about the combat. Thats why on pc we thought the combat was bad. Real dumbed down for us…. i hated it….
If this game was to only explain Hawk’s story then it should have been a separate Dragon Age game instead of Dragon Age 2 it should be something like “Dragon Age: The Hawks” therefore leaving more of an opening for an aftermath of Dragon Age Origins
if da3 has dragon age origens strong story line and da2 combat then that be pritty epic
I’d like to think that this game was so short with all its flaws because it was just made to explain Hawk’s story for DA3
I really liked the new combat system and Varric. But really… Grafics are so low, Anders is no fun anymore, Fenris doesn’t even wear shoes O_O’
Dungeons repeat all the time, no real challanges in the game (even on high difficulties), the elves new mesh looks dumb and you’re trapped inside a city filled with morons (Varric not included)
Bioware… This is not Dragon Age… You should better improve it in DA3 >_>
i agree with u bro amazingly fun combat being able to switch between people as well i loved. thanks joe good review
I agree with Joe the characters and story were weak. But I had great fun with the combat,it was the most fun I’d had with an RPG in a while. In oragins I hated the auto attack button.
I agree it did feel like this Dragon age was a sausage fest and the charters weren’t as interactive or alive with the player, each other or the environment as was in Origins and Awakening. I felt as a male Warrior the only good character worth romancing is Tallis in the mark of the assassin DLC and you don’t even get to keep her. Isabella didn’t live up to her feeling in origins and Merril just seemed like the jumpy afraid of everything who doesn’t know when to shut up. I mean even when she was pissed I couldn’t take her seriously. Now to the story, true it does seem repetitive and you don’t have an ultimate goal in the first game it was about protecting and sacrificing and uniting the nation against the blight against evil. If they are not gonna allow us to have a warden in inquisition. Is it so much to ask for a separate that will allow us to and continue our story. Kinda like the dragon age’s Brotherhood and Revelations. You get to continue your story but still the series itself I, II, and III have different characters. Everybody is happy.
