Still thinking of buying it after seeing Joe’s review etc.
engine looks AWESOME alone………..Max Payne 3 will be freakin amazing using these graphics
Great game sold my original copy and bought the Complete Edition.
Well worth it since it includes all the DLC with the game.
I absolutely loved this game, I was not sure it would live up to the hype but it did, I really fell into the character and the flow of the story and plot line. How they tied in some of the real Hollywood crimes and mythos from days gone by was inspired. The cars were kinda unnecessary as were all the collecting games like the reels and badges but the cases were great and I find myself hoping for more I have downloaded all the DLC and played them and will probably go back and play them again at least the ones i got less than 5 stars on. I hope they either put out more for this game or do another like it and instead of collecting games or wasting programming on over 90+ cars they give more to the “street crimes” because they were a bit repetitive. I would like a few of the holes and questions answered such as what was the deal with the “other woman” and what happens next they sorta left it hanging begging for a sequel or at least more fleshing out. I am not much of a reater but for originality i give it 9/10 , technical mechanics 7/10 it was kinda basic controls and flow, immersive 9/10 Lets all hope for more I think they got a new franchise/genre here.
Not my kind of game but if you like this kind of detective speculations and investigations than hey be my guest
Someone please give me an honest opinion.
This game plus all its content is available for download from the Playstation Store for about £40. Is it worth it? Or can I get it alot cheaper than that?
Thanks alot,
JollySam
i,m 14 and i plaid almost everything that rockstar mad created So nothing for adults i finished the game
Flat Stomach
u’re absolutely right joe. I just bought the game yesterday, and freaking love it. I dare to say this is the future of adventure point-and-click games. They need to make for games like this. Good work Team Bondi
What about Half Life 2? They captured face movement well!
Yep the face impression in hl2 is good too but thats a little old now.
We past six years. Its about time to improve the face mimics ingame.
Bought the game on PC. Lets say it worth for me because of the char acting.
I’m fairly certain it’s pronounced BON-DIE, not BON-DEY, if its based in Sydney. Especially considering the logo is a wave; Bondi is a beach.
dude you are the best reviewer keep up the good work
Laughed so hard at Joe’s acting/facial expressions during the interrogation hahaaaa!
im a fan of the x files and if you are like me then youll find this game a lot of fun
Great review Angry Joe! LONG LIVE ANGRY JOE!! DEATH TO ANGRY JOE’S ENEMIES!
I think Joe is right. They should have made better use of the city that they re-created so beautifully. Red Dead Redemption mananged to put in a lot of side-activities, so I guess it disappointed me a little that there were none here. But I think I can forgive the fact that theres not as much replayability as RDR because of how much work went in to the rest of the game. My score for L.A Noire is 9/10.
P.S Still can’t get over how AMAZING the facial animations are.

I have to agree with James_B somewhat. I think Red Dead was better this was a little too linear and got really repetitive. It was a good game and had a realistic story (I wasn’t a huge fan of the story but it was good) but the gameplay didn’t stay fresh the whole way through. I found the shooting and driving portions were pretty vanilla, especially the tailing sections (I think GTA also does this terribly). this game is really in a genera of its own so its hard to compare it to other games for sake of giving it a score but i think an 8 is fair.
Oh god, I fell in love with this game. Its fresh and completely different . Hell, even my family was watching me play like it was a movie and they don’t even like video games that much. Having friends come over and like solving the case together, trying to tell if the guy is lieing or not.
I give it a 9.0 as well , maybe a 9.5 just because it got other people involve in the story and gameplay.
Yea, it’s that awesome.
James B, you are the WORST PERSON EVER, AND YOU HAVE THE WORST COMMENT EVER!!! YOU DON’T HAVE ANY TASTE IN GAMES, EVER!!! This game has a rating a 9/10 by Angry Joe. Also, IGN rated the game a 8.5/10, X-Play rated the game a 5 out of 5 stars, AND, GameSpot rated the game a 9/10.
Remember, People. James B is a stupid asshole. Period.
P.S., I also didn’t play this game, cause I don’t have a PS3 or XBOX 360.
Ethan, if you dont have an xbox 360 or ps3 YOU are a COMPLETE ASSHOLE
Great review as always although as an Australian i was surprised at how you pronounced team bondi since i’ve never heard it pronounced by anyone from over seas
in case your wondering its bon-DIE like as in to die even tho it doesn’t end with an e
Am I right in saying that there are a couple of Dave Chappelle references in this review. The line ”I hope they burn in hell. They deserved it.” looks alot like the line from ”The Chappelle’s Show”. In this sketch Chappelle is imitating Samuel L. Jackson and eventually out of nowhere he screams ”Yes they deserved to die and I hope they burn in hell.” The strange sounds that Detective Vargas makes at the beginning of the review is also a reference to Chappelle’s stand-up comedy ”Killin’ them Softly”.
I really did thoroughly enjoy this game. Whereas the first 4-5 missions ARE simplistic and basic, the more you do… 1) The harder the faces are to read, 2)The more clues there are to find, 3) More suspects/informants are added, plus you get a crapload of chase scenes, shoot outs, and flat out “Find this mofugga and kill his bitch ass!” sequences. And, I’ve gotta say, Cole’s stoic, hard nature in the beginning eventually gives way to a more human Cole in the end. Finally, Cole (Or atleast is actor) is hothothothothothot soooo spicy.
One thing that I wished that this game had an option for is first person view. Looking for the small details and clues when I’m inside homes and apartments or whatever would be so much better in first person view, and I would better appreciate the detail they took to design the interiors and clues. If they make a sequel, I hope that they’ll add this feature.
great review Joe, love the question part…AHAHAHHAA
la noire is a great game, I love how slow pace it is. I just like relaxing, walking and taking my time with this game. I also love driving realistic and carefully in this game.
the game’s mission were sort of repetitive to me and got boring because they were like cliche episodes.
1. woman gets murdered
2. investigate
3. lying
4. cole 341 badge
5. evidence
6. arrest.
just the same thing, and Joe was right the higher Cole gets promoted the better the mission.
This is Rockstars WORST game to date. Especially when you pit it against the likes of Red Dead and GTA 4. The city has no soul, it’s barebone. theres barely any extra content. The graphics are greatly exaturated. Other than the lackluster storyline, lack of sidemissions and content, Cole Phelps is unlikeable and BORING! Just boring. The side characters were more engaging than Phelps is. When you’re more interested in what your drunk short timing partner is like it hurts your main character. He’s boring. They could have made Cole a straight egde cop with at least some personality. If you were really honest AJ you would have given this game a 7/10 and would NOT have given it your badass seal of approval. This games only a rental if you have gamefly. I’m disappointed in you sir because LA Noire set Rockstar back a few steps, especially coming off the heels of their last two games, which are still two of the best games your money can buy. Shame on you Joe you’re not doing your viewers any favors. God Cole Phelps is just boring.
Go back to bed, James; school starts pretty early tomorrow.
hey Joe! I just wanted to say how much I LOVE your videos, from my brother (David) AND me! Your rewiews have actually influenced me to get this game! -and manny others-! You are so awesome, and I think my brother (and me) are you’re biggest fans!

Reminds me of Kirk in that one episode
love all reviews, you never disappoint
Good review joe. The only thing that bugged me was the pronunciation of Team Bondi. Not Bond-ee.
Bond-Eye. It just bugged me.
good review keep it going
the ending ruins the entire story for me
its a great ride with a shit conclusion

” don’t buy this not worth it turn’s out there was more over 5 exculsive DLC i already grab 4 but the 5th 1 is some kind tommy guy rockstar really didn’t do a good job joe just flat out lie to u ”
i had to re-read this like, 5 times to only half understand it. yet, you give no solid reason at all why you think its a bad game. before you continue to say why something is bad, please elaborate on your reasons. ” dont buy this not nuff dlc joe lie 2 u ” doesn’t really cut it.
Nice Review
“Well acted”…. Play Uncharted 1 and 2 and you see very good acting, because Uncharted#s motioncapturing where done by same guys who speaks them at the same time so the cut scenes are more like real movies, besides the gaming graphics.
In LA Noira the movements of the characters lack a lot of details so a lot of movements look broken and not completely motion captured. Normally I wouldn’t care much but the face animations are so good that the movement of the bodies seems quite ugly in comparison to the details in the faces.
But besides that LA Noira truly is a really nice game. But you really need to be prepared for a very low paced game. A lot of ppl complain that LA Noira is simply boring but it actually is only very low paced, it doesnt have any action. Like Joe sayed it is more like a Adventure game. Actually it is a adventure game, same type of game like Heavy Rain.
I agree. Normally I’m not much for puzzle/adventure games and I was a bit sceptical that LA Noire would hold my interest for any long period of time. I was wrong. I can’t remember how long I’ve been at it, collecting clues, making people squirm under my scrutinizing gaze…. and then pick the wrong answer.
I have it on the PS3 and the immersion is greater than the Xbox what with the disc swapping all the time (come on, M$. Get your act together and release a Blu-Ray ‘Box already).
lol
I was already pondering getting this game. You pretty much solidified it for me. Great review Joe. The comedy was excellent as well. You have a hell of a talent for it.
You really sold me on this game man, now i have to buy it. Great job as usual…love the show.
the only thing i didnt like was how short the game was and the features it has, side missions, collectables, weapons, and such. they were not as expansive as i thought. that and the ending. i really hated the ending. over all i would give this game a 7 out of 10
p.s.
Drop of water + laptop = i hate my computer….
A very nice feature in this game was the ability to play in black and white just like a noir movie, that completely sold the game for me when it came to immersion of noir.
Loved your review!! And Joe, I have a request. Review Madballs in Babo: Invasion it’s a really fun game!
Nice review joe, like it much, ask 4 more)
9:29-9:31 I saw a sleeve on the right hand side! Who is that hiding?
LMAO! You rock angry joe!
Hahaha, it looked like on the part where you were mimicking the game that you were trying to pass a stone.
:HELL YEAH I KILLED THOSE PEOPLE!”
BEtter be careful what you say Joe….
Joe has a gift for physical comedy, the interrogation faces were just as hilarious as his Kickassia “are you insane?!” expression.
I’m so annoyed this game isn’t coming out for PC!
ok, if you hated Sonic Free Rider so much… why do you still have the case?
Because hes a fucking idiot, and these fan boys are autistic just like him so they need the reviews dumb down for them.
LOL that interrogation skit halfway thru may be your best/funniest one ever!
i laughed so hard at sonic part..dam
good review though, keep it up
Did anyone else hate the map screen? Every time I looked around it for a minute I couldn’t locate my position unless I clicked out of it and went back in. I don’t understand why they decided to use a tiny grey triangle that is impossible to see at first glance.
i think i would give this game a 9 out of 10 also
i just wish there was a more open ended experience, but over all it is definitely one of the best games of 2011
