i like the sorecer but lvl 35 heals rock but i gotta go with fucking ASSassin
Some cinematic goodness
Watch Satele (Bastilla’s great great grandchild) bust it up!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l1KM3E0emjg&feature=related
And Darth Malgus (the empires equivalent, at least story wise) was friggen awesome the whole campaign.
This is the intro, then Republic, then Empires cinematic
i still play swtor. imo, its the best mainstream mmo out there atm.
- the questing is MUCH more engaging than WoW’s
- theres a main plot, a plot for each planet, and a bonus plot after that you can do if you want keep going (otherwise u can continue on to the next planet)
- it feels quite polished for a pretty brand new game (i remember doing baron runs in wow for 6 month before any major new content was released)
- they release new content quite often
its basically KOTOR 3 Online, so plays really well if your solo. and the LFG tool is comming out next patch i believe so that should be awesome.
and the intro alone is better than Star Wars Episodes 1-3
the beta seems awesome. I don’t know if I’ll buy it though, since EA is involved and I vowed not to give them money anymore after what they’ve done to a lot of games I love (most notable example: ME3 ending, other examples: ruined Red Alert, Tiberian Sun, Spore)
I think the charater is moving a little stiff. and i dont care much bout the graphics but it helps!
but comming from bio-ware i expect more fluid movement. now the char move like a robot.
but yeah its funny to kill some rebel scum off like that lol
Hi Joe if you are still considering a name for your second guild might I suggest DoH :Archfiends: ?
I played the beta this past weekend and I gotta say I am truly impressed! I loved Kotor and Kotor 2 and this game brings me back to those games. In fact this is my favorite mmo and will be for a long time. I got Star Wars: TOR withdrawals right now,I miss playing it!! Cant wait to get it and play for hours and days on end lol
Sonic Generations review please LOL
I got my mind blown by this game. Fuck the graphics. The story content, WOW. Never felt like this game in any other MMO. I’m playing jedi knight and I’ve got this KOTOR feeling EVERYWHERE, really nostalgic, yet different because of well, being an MMO game. I wish I had more time with this, play dark side and something very different, like Bounty Hunter. Unfortunately I don’t think there will be and I’m not getting it now for may reasons. But I’ll miss it, I certainly will. Recommend to anyone who likes either MMOs, Star Wars or enjoyed KOTOR in the past.
Hmm…I have to admit I am rather underwhelmed with what I see. Animations look really stiff and lifeless, characters seem very cartoonish and sterile. Combat seems a bit boring and uninvolving; you essentially just stand there and take turns attacking each other. There is no energy or excitement in it. This really doesn’t look like a 2011/2012 game truth be told.
All of that can be forgiven if the atmosphere is sucking you in. But even there it seems rather bland. Worst of all, it doesn’t really feel like Star Wars. Yes, there are Jedi and Sith, but that alone doesn’t create the “magic” of Star Wars.
I applaud Bioware’s decision to bring a real story and dialogue into an MMO, for that reason alone I want the game to succeed, but I had hoped they would have executed it better.
If you take the innovation of introducing a single player style experience into an MMO away, all you are left with is a game that appears to be sub-standard.
Sorry if I am so negative, but so far I am dissapointed with what I have seen.
have you ever played the first kotor. thats how the gameplay was it was like an rpgish type of game with a really good story.
I have more of a question…I notice no choice of races…is there anything other then human?
No choice of races? there are plenty, One of his characters was a sith (red skinned humanoid), but I am not sure how much choice the beta has, and it varies what you can have per class.
For the “alternate” or “sister” guild how about, The Hated Disciples if you wanna keep the naming scheme otherwise just a tag like..
DoH The Anger Forged
DoH The Cult of Krath
DoH Children of Hate
DoH The Hated Ones
Many online clans in FPS games do something like that, anyhoo just some ideas. Hell even just a cool name if everyone in it understands that they are a sister guild then they can make sure recruits know and whatnot.
Hey Joe. If you need someone else to run the 2nd guild (Disciples of Suffering? Disciples of Anguish?) I used to run a WoW guild for years until the pandas took over. my bioware profile name is dagadus if you’re interested.
please joe can you review kof xiii
Joe, no Corporate Commander Sith play through?
why is my SWTOR beta installment taking so damn long!?!?!? i kept it on all night and it still hasn’t finished! wtf!
Thousands of people at the same time, 20 gig download, and its beta….
Aren’t you supposed to be playing Skyrim?
Like the dialogue options, otherwise still looks a lot like general MMOs. Just waiting for Guild Wars 2…
give me a review of skyrim or i will kill you…you are taking too long angry
Caca-JuJu.
Nuff Said.
Darth Joe, very nice, finally patching myself…I wonder how the bounty hunter will do at the beginning, even though torture as a Sith warror looks like fun :3
Nice preview!
What would be interesting to try with the guilds is assign some sort of military structure to them. Like the first guild would be known as the first legion with Joe as the Supreme Commander then have his inner circle be in charge of other guilds, or legions. Inside each legion you could break down roles so there’d be sub commanders and lieutenants and so forth. Rank could be according to level of the character or something to that effect. The higher up in the hierarchy you are the more you’d be responsible for gathering players under you to carry out raids or group missions.
Think of it. Legions of Sith players focused on destroying the Jedi, but also constantly trying to get ahead of everyone else around them! Just like the real Sith! How cool would that be huh? It would add an awesome level of intrigue to the game don’t you think?

Nice game, too bad I’ll probably won’t be able to play it from my country ;/
Hey Joe,
Have you thought of putting an RSS in your website? It will keep the complainers from spamming you and your fans to know when you release new videos! (winwin situation if you ask me, unless you want people accessing the web and check manually for some other reason)
If you go to news (where he post most if not all of his videos) your browser should give you the option to follow it on RSS
Disciples of Joe or Disciples of Darth Joe
Nice.
Dont forget to play Skyrim though!
Commander Joe, may i suggest the new guild name to be Disciples of Anger?
The videos are great, although I wish you even mentioned PvP. You also didn’t mention any of the games shortcomings. It has numerous, numerous performance flaws and graphic flaws/bugs/etc. There’s no way it’ll all be fixed up upon release. But this is all the kind of stuff that could be fixed up in a few more months, really. Warhammer had similar issues at its release, and the fanbase held for around 6 months waiting for fixes that never came. In the 6-12 month area, the entire game died because at that point it was obvious they weren’t coming.(I bet even today the game is a broken mess) So it’s just a matter of whether or not they will fix up the game with the time that they have before the Star Wars newness wears off.
But PvP will be a HUGE factor as well. For people like me, that alone will entirely determine if the game has any value or not. If the PvP is bad… I will unsub immediately after I see all the quests play out. So let’s hope they can deliver on that. I’m sure they’ve seen Warcraft year after year, and Warhammer, and Rift, and countless other games… they should know what they are doing.
I hope they do fix the game up and that OR succeeds and actually holds ground in the MMO world, because this world should have more choices than JUST World of Warcraft. Since 2005 that hasn’t been the case. Any other MMO came and went in mere months or <1 year upon release. I've seen them all be hyped up prior to release, then bite the dust less than a year later. Rift will be no different. I don't like lightsabers or fancy force powers, but the game should still have appeal and be fun. I hope I can get some kind of vibroblade. I loved those things on KnightsOTR. I said screw the flashy sabers and ran through the game with damn vibroblades. That was awesome. I also like to shoot stuff. Sniper rifles firing lasers=awesome. I rolled an Operative and what spec choice at 10 for me will be really difficult…
I'd join the guild Joe, but I'm in the East time zone so I likely won't be on the realm.
I’d so love to see Warcraft finally tank and lose 90%+ of its subs some day. It’s been around too long and Blizzard has used/abused its own community too much year after year to deserve this kind of feed. Old Republic won’t make that happen, but if it takes any kind of bite out of that 10mil fanbase, I’ll be happy. I’m already planning to sub up on this game come January, where I will likely put my WoW on hold while I explore the game and hope for the best.(I would drop my WoW sub then, but I already play for free so it’s not like there’s a reason to.)
That is a terrible thing to say.
Well that’s kind of the point of the beta, for people to play and report problems they are finding so the developers can fix it.
When are you going to do warhammer 40k space marin? It was sow long time ago it came out and you have not even mention it
Love you shit man, Angryjoe army will be the most feared force in the universe!
Jesus… Force choke + stab through the throat… Angry Joe needs some anger management… or perhaps some better toys…
Great job joe… cant wait till this comes out.
Too bad we couldn’t see the player owned ships
and for the 2nd guild… name: DoHNuTs (Disciples of Hatred Not under-killing The Spoony)
Anyone else thinks this looks a LOT like Mass Effect 1? with lightsabers?
its made by the same people… and the graphics are more like Mass Effect 2. (tho this is still beta)
clicking select in haste a victim of your own haste to choose (so like a young sith apprentice). nice vids i do agree that an ARE YOU SURE YOUR NOT A DURP button should be implemented for that crucial part.
call the second guild Disciples of Rage / Acolytes of Anger.
Sounds better than Disciples of Hatred 2 oder something similar.
Ive got a beta invite but no key, kinda feels like a tease cause I dont know if im gonna get it or not or if im missing something lol. But whatever, the game looks awesome and from what ive seen from other impressions it looks exactly how I expected it to be, Id love to join your army joe, but since im from uk ill be joining a different server with my friends, but whatever we all darkside here right? =)
It’s not a tease. Everyone is getting into an open beta this coming (thanksgiving) weekend. Thats the invite you got. Everyone got it. You will get another email probably on tuesday saying you can start downloading the client. You can go to http://www.swtor.com/tester if you dont have access to your email and it will update when you can D/L the client.
Thanks for telling me, and the info, I have a friend who doesent know either so thx again =)
Can’t wait to play this game. I just hope the computer I’m getting can run it.
I saw Joe in game running around ^^
Any game that’s made for PC that looks this bad is just inexcusable. I know people will say “but it’s not about graphics!”, but in answer to that; It’s not entirely about graphics but they sure do help and accepting a game that looks 10 years old really isn’t the way forward. This looks so bad it’s laughable.
You are aware this is beta testing right?
yeah you are an idiot. it is all about contenet. of course graphics help out a bit but what matters more is what you can do in the game and from what i see or hear of you can do a lot which is why they have to cut back on graphics unless you want to buy a 3k computer worth handleing the game. as long as you can tell that this person has a face and you arent like ”what the hell is that i cant identify with it.” then the game is ok. think back to the golden age of games in the N64 and NES you had games like perfect dark and just games where the creators and gamers asked ”what can you do in the game?” instead of now where its like ”hows it look?”
So all games that look 10 years old graphically are allowed because they have good content? As long as you can make out a face in a game it’s okay as long as there is good content? You don’t need a 3k computer to advance these graphics by 40%, you would need a £400-500 PC. If you don’t have, or cant afford a PC that costs as little as that then you have absolutely no buisiness gaming on a PC and you should stick to consoles as they’re more affordable.
You quite clearly have no clue what you’re talking about as your logic is baffling and extremely flawed yet somehow, Im the idiot?
Oh and subject1928, I’m perfectly aware this is a beta as I was also invited, but don’t get confused as this is the finished product, graphically, minus some glitches.
I’m sorry but releasing a game that looks no better than WOW and can run on your grannies 10 year old laptop is inexcusable. I could understand if it was consolised, but it’s not, so there is just no excuse no matter how anybody trys to dress it up. It’s a desperate attempt to milk every penny they can from the game whilst sacrificing massive amounts of quality and I won’t be touching it, which is a shame as I was looking forward to it.
Did you even see the cutscenes or pre rendered dialogue conversations? They look fantastic to me. They need to fix the game play engine. How can you judge it right now when Anti Aliasing isn’t even enabled? People like you, dking, are morons. It’s obvious that it won’t be up to our expected standards(Or theirs, for that matter) by the deadline, but you need to have some patience.
You expect perfection right out of the box, which just isn’t possible. You have any idea how many problems Warcraft launched with? Or how horrible the game was in its first year? People still played it, and it’s been the largest MMO ever since. All you can logically aim for at launch is to be competitive, not “better”. If you are one of those “better” or “not better” people, I suggest you stay on Warcraft.
The graphics are awful, and you’re trying to defend them? And I’m a moron? They’re terrible and no amount of AA or dressing up from you, or any other fan boy will change that. Accept the fact that the graphics are 8 years old and move on as any other argument just makes you look even more stupid than you already do.
When did I say I demanded perfection from a game? Why are you putting words in my mouth to save your fanboyish argument? I said the graphics were 8 years old and thats inexcusable, not once did I mention ANYTHING about the game play so befoire you post such drivel I suggest you get your facts straight. Seriously, you’re a complete and utter imbecile and your moronic, fantastical attempt at an argument/post basically proves my point.
well also remember its an MMO. you cant expect an mmo to have 10/10 graphics since it has to take milions of people into account. i personally dont care how the graphics are as long as i can tell what it is because graphics do not make a ghame in any way shpe or form the are an aesthetic. they would be milking it if this did not having any content whatsover but from what i hear the content is overwhelming and trying to be its own. and how is my logic flawed. here is a worse/best case scenario for you. would you want to buy the game that just looks breathtaking almost life like but everything else sucks such as game play, story, content, etc. or would you want a game that has a shit ton of content a really great story and fun/great gameplay but sadly for the creator to make this game of your dreams come true with the content that you wished there was in a game they had to cut back on graphics and the graphics arent that good.
It doesn’t have to be 10/10 graphics and not at any point have I suggested they should be, however, 8 year old cartoon graphics are unacceptable for a PC title. They could improve it by 30 or 40% and any rig could run it, as long as it wasn’t your grannies 10 year old laptop which you would have no buisiness gaming on anyway!
The game looks bad because you can’t turn on the Anti Aliasing. It’s locked to OFF. The game has you seriously restricted with graphic options by this. But since it also runs really badly and has serious pop in/bugs everywhere… it isn’t a wonder that it is turned off.
I’ve regularly seen flaws, such as my character thinking he’s holding his gun when there is nothing there. His gun vanished but he still thinks it is there.
Are you serious? Just because it doesn’t have the latest, cutting-edge graphics technology doesn’t make it a visual failure. Crysis, for example, did NOT raise the graphical bar, it slammed into the granite ceiling of graphics. I personally like the game’s art style and applaud any game that isn’t hell-bent on topping Crysis (an impossible task) and focuses instead on content and depth.
Having the best graphics and looking good are not one and the same. Just as an example, check out gog.com and look at the screenshots for Simon The Sorcerer 1/2 and Simon The Sorcerer 3D and ask yourself which one looks better.
Must say I’ve ignored this one for the most part, but you’ll always get me intrigued someway or another.
In the end, I might consider it, and I’ll keep an eye out for that second division guild.
Looking good though.
Honestly, I have to say I had the opposite impression of the game. Admittedly I played on the Republic side, but everything felt more like a chore. While I enjoyed the voice acting, there were times I was just wanting to read the dialogue instead, and I’m unaware if there is a captions choice in the options because the last time I adjusted any of them, my map got nuked into complete blackness so I couldn’t see anything in it.
Having watched this though, I think I’m going to give the game a second go on the Sith side, since it appears to at least look more interesting than what I’ve played through on the Republic.
Also, can’t believe ya fell for the old “Yank-and-spank” move, oldest trick in the Boss Book. =P
Also, I think a more apt comparison for the NPC team mates you get would be the Heroes in Guild Wars, instead of just pets. They can have their equipment altered just as much as the Player Character, and their appearances can be altered (provided you have the item for it).
I and the rest of The Expendables shall end your reign of tyranny Darth Joe. All hail Grand Master Spoony!
Damm joe your guys a badass!
holy crap at 16.45 in the 2 video it show my guild the corellian league
Awesome…
Can’t wait for the Skyrim reveiw!
like always joe great videos but i thought you were doing the review for skyrim not to rush you
I don’t know this for a fact but i think Joe just uploaded video he had already recorded from before. I think NOW hes working on the Skyrim Review
If I can get back onto my account, I’m going to be going onto the Darth Malak server and hopefully, I will be able to team with you Darth Joe.
DARTH Joe… LOL!!!!!
