how dare you to give 8/10 to battlefield 3
Argument, please? Or are you being ironic?
I think he wants a higher rate, I am for a lower right, that all those DLCs came up and Premium…
In my opinion it was a rip off. Spent 110€ in a game, which you could buy for 60€ after half of a year…
Oh and it is EA, I think a game should be effected by its marketing. Because the price is very important, too. Or are you ready to pay 100€ for a little flash game?
For me the game nets about 5/10. Bought it for the 360 (mistake). Single player was average and I do play games for the single player. Disappointingly nowhere near the level of BC and BC2. I feel like I was ripped off multiplayer wise. Detail level is worse than BC2 and destruction is almost nonexistent. The larger maps are a complete ghost town.
To sum it up the game is average. I still enjoy the previous battlefield games so much more. The PC version may be better but the console version is severely lacking.
If you hated how to looked why didn’t you install the HD texture pack? I’ve played it like that and it looks amazing
What the hell? The epic version of the Battlefield theme plays TWO times during the campaign. One at the para chute scene, and another during the credits. Angry Joe didn’t play the game until the the end, or he didn’t pay attention.
3 weeks ago part of EA servers has been hacked, also my account, best security pass EA support service accepts is date of birth, who was also hacked (becouse who the hell use to change such a information, becouse most games u dont run around ur date of birth around playground) so even that shit was hacked, becouse personally can say that never used to change my fukin birth date becouse im grown up a while ago
basically support service is crowded with customer tickets, and google is crowded with text “selling EA account” meanwhile policy of EA doesnt accepts that, very fukin disapointing. much fun lost and money gone
That’s why, all EA games shouldn’t be mentioned here anymore… Or just give some bad ratings.
I think BF3 was the start of copying CoD, BF4 will go even further with the ridiculous HP regenration
Joe you should make a review about the premium pack in wich most people paid twice for the same DLC named back to Karkand.
These days its all about muliplayer or dlc, dont see many games with long camaign these days unless they put a bit of rpg into the game. And those with rpg elements seem have mainly side ques than main quest. MOdern warefare was slighty short but it was good and compelling story. Price was awesom. This game is okay, i dont care for multiplayer.
I’m not a professional reviewer but BF3 earns a solid 9/10, and you are not doing a HUGE disrespect to yourself if you buy it on console, I have it on PS3, and it’s better that it is on a console that runs it well, instead that it’s on a crappy PC/MAC/laptop right?
umm wrong.
I didn’t even play SP. Didn’t even care, you’ve got to take the license’s origin into account. Battlefield isn’t a single player game.
Just like Mass effect 3 didn’t loose points for the MP beause it didn’t take away from the SP.
BF3, being a MP game, shouldn’t loose points for the SP if it doesn’t take away from the MP. And it doesn’t.
I am a little disapointed you didn’t mention “more” how incredibly satisfying the game is at times. Being surrounded by tanks fighting, and seeing jets fighting it not only so good, but the sound is unbelievable.
BF3 should be rated 8.5- 9.0 on PC. On console, it should be rated 8.45- 8.95.
I wanted to play BF3 again yesterday on my pc, so I started the whole origin/battlelog thing up. It said that there was a new EULA, so I went and looked up what changed. Turns out, they took out the parts of the EULA that said that they could gather information on my computer using Origin and sell it to whomever they wanted. Glad that got cleared up.
Then, when I downloaded an update and started Battlelog, it said that the Battlelog Com Center and Origin had been merged, and my friends list now applied to both. I didn’t care until I started a game.
Worst lag ever. Battlelog said that a server had less than 20 ping, but when I got into a game it showed 100-300 ping. I tried three servers that showed less than 20 ping on Battlelog and the same thing happened.
Something they did when they linked Origin to Battlelog must be causing this game breaking lag. I can’t tolerate this game any more. When I rubber band so hard that I can move from objective to objective, start capping it, then bounce back to the first objective to find that I’ve been dead for 10 seconds, a game isn’t worth playing.
The people I play with have already voted with their feet, none of them are on at all since I started checking our Teamspeak server about a week ago. These weren’t casual players either, all of them were very competitive, arguing incessantly about the merits of the AEK-971 compared to the M16A3.
I find this sad, not just because EA broke my game that I paid $60 for, but because I’m a fan of the BF franchise. I have never played another FPS that encourages squad based teamwork and communication like this one.
My current rating for this game on Joe’s scale is 3/10. Single player being the only part that scores any points at all, because Battlefield 3′s multiplayer is BROKEN. Don’t buy this game, and don’t buy any EA games.
it has a boring story. it would be nice if you respawned faster and it sucks to have idiot teammates. those are my only problems with the game.
“People need to stop bitching about the battlelog”
Joe, I believe you understand my burning hatred when i tell you that i’ve had to sit through so much online “assistance” crap from EA to get the battlelog to work properly, getting “disconnected from EA online” all the time, even when i just want to play the SP campaign.
I’ve had assistance 5 times, totalling around 4 hours, none of it have helped me for more than around 15 minutes before it was shitty again.
And before i get any comments on this being about my connection, i should tell you that my internet connection is about 1Gbit thats right, just about 1000mbits. It isn’t my computer either, it is high end gaming hardware, the problem lies within the battlelog-plugin, and i’m not the only one i’ve known who’ve had these exact same problems.
I recognize the genius of the concept of the battlelog, i just wish they could execute it probably instead of this having to ruin the game experience for me, just sayin’
Hey, Joe seems to care and enjoy the cod single player mode. So, can everyone stop acting like it is the worst thing in the world.
Well, just because Joe enjoys it doesn´t mean everyone else has to!
Well, i think they should make these shooters without SP. Almost nobody plays them, and they are almost every time bullshit.
I bought Battlefield 3 for the 360 used off of amazon with no online pass. So in short I got the lack luster version of the game without the multiplayer which is really the only reason I bought it. If you ask me the single player wasn’t too bad aside from what joe said about the braindead AI. The level design was spot on to breed familiarity with the area. Example is “Operation Swordbreaker” when you have a firefight in parking lot and then later in the mission you see that same parking lot from 3 stories up. At least its not fight in one area and then never see it again. But we all know that the real meat of the game is multiplayer which is absolutly amazing. I know the PC version is probaly on a whole new level but I’m perfectly content with the 360 version. The only gripe I have is that sometimes my multiplayer just doesn’t work at all and kicks me out, I then restart the game and boot up the multiplayer and it works fine. Is it just my disk or does this happen to other people as well? If anyone can answer this question it would be much appreciated!
The game is by far better than MW3 arcadey fps. This is although nowhere close to ARMA II realism, is really really great for it’s graphics, sound effects, and physics.
I have to disagree with Joe on Origin and Battlelog. It may work for you, but for me when the game was released it was complete crap. It would not log me in the server, it still to this day keeps crashing now and then. At one time it lost all of my progression and mysteriously as it lost, restored all of it a week later. Frostbite 2.0 engine was a bit dissapointing since they had to tune it down from it’s full potential (otherwise servers would of crashed). Bad Company 2 in fact have more levels of destruction than BF3.
Just re-watched this review. Really great video Joe. Now come online and play with me
bf3 ending is really bad, with no sense
I have to disagree with you on the single player aspect… Battlefield has been about realism and looking at it from a military standpoint I love the single player. Being Infantry myself if I were put into the situation of the single player it just feels right. All the combat feels real and I feel like I had a good attachment to the characters in the game. The AI yea that was a bit buggy but other than that I loved the experience it gave me. As for the new theme song… I love it, I think that what they were trying to do with it was bring out the chaos of war and the gritty, ugliness… if that makes any kind of sense to you. When i hear it i just think chaos.
I’m sad that this review didn’t cover Origin or battle log expect for a small 30 second part which basically glossed over and said that this horrible software that they package should be ignored.
Sorry my dad who uses to be a program and is now moved up to managing programmers stated to me that if anyone made a software like this (Meaning both Origin and Battlelog) while employed by him; they’d be fired. Now my dad doesn’t make games (not anymore and never did professionally) and what programs he makes has less users then BF3 has clients.
BattleLog and Origin ruins the gaming experience for me and my father. Now you said to stop complain and I do understand where you’re coming from but you didn’t even cover the fact that origin was beta software when BF3 was released and the fact that have to exit the program using taskmanger is horrible (Why can’t I use the exit button like I would steam? Exit buttons aren’t a new thing. Hell just make a button, slap an actionlister on to it and then add “System.exit(0);” to the action listen and you have a java program that exits. ). These are not minor complains.
1 I should not be forced to use software that isn’t complete just to run a game. What if the next generation games for windows 8 required you to use DirectX 12(alpha); which is prone to crash your computer. (Made up. I don’t even know if they’ve started work on updating DirectX yet.)
2 When I hit the exit button and see it closed and next person that uses the computer sees it closed; we don’t expect it to reopen itself within minutes. Not ever in fact. However origin does reopen itself if you don’t use something like Task manager.
Now battlelog; the only time I’m going to check my stats, is when I’m waiting for somebody to start the game on their computer or when we’re compare stats.
Great, the web version will do just fine that!
What if i just want to change from one to server to the next?
Well I have to get out of the game, this increases chances for error.
I have to find the server which also increases chance for error more so in the browser than the game.
I have get back in to the game again and normally when i get errors it’s at this step; not always but normally.
I can only remember a few times when the game would crash on me in BF:BC2I can remember a boat load of times BF3 hasn’t even started.
Origin and battle log strangely enough, while program to do this; they aren’t really programmed to do this. Look the Steam would do this better (It’s strangely designed for this not that they do it. I can start nearly any game and pick a server at the same time using steams server tool. It’s more power in the sense that it works with nearly any game on steam and I do believe there is a reason they don’t use the server tool like this.)
Going back to origin; It turns out that if you don’t have internet, then you want to play the single player. I never want to play the single player since it’s i’m not normally using the computer that my save are on. It’s kinda annoying when the game starts up in single when you didn’t say you want it in single player. I know this sound like bashing but i did lie about something.
sometimes origin decides you want single player and not multiplayer even if you’re connected to the internet.
As much as I’m bashing I do like the game but origin is horrible and so is battle log.
Both aren’t needed and this is coming from my father who is a manager of programmers and was a programmer himself. He hates both because they are poorly made programs that are buggy as hell to this day.
I do admit that i clean up what he said to me so it wouldn’t be so crass.
Again sorry last bashes of the day,
1 I can program in java a easier GUI on the eyes and just plain more usefulness. (Big deal, I know.) I do admit that i can’t do all the server or HTML stuff they did, because i just plain don’t know how to do that stuff. But UI alone I could do.
2 Microsoft IE by law has to be easily uninstalled. Now if i uninstall IE, don’t install any other browser and program my own. (I’ve got a book on weekend projects to do for java and that is one of the projects) browser; This game will not work. The battle log server should not rely on third party software to work unless they know it will be there. DirectX is okay to rely because it’s part of the engine and how the game runs and it’s not like I could program my own version but a browser is different since you can’t trust the user having a normal version of something you support.
Sorry i like rant and there are so many stupid thing to rant about with origin and battle log. Origin, BattleLog and BF3 are all buggy on the PC and i would need to write a long letter about the problems if you want a idea of what bull i’ve had to put up with from EA over the 6+ months of owning the game.
BF3 isn’t bad but Origin and battleLog are both good reasons to stay away from it. I personally like BF:BC2 more than BF3. BF3 has been updated and a lot of the bugs have been removed but the topic is still sour to me. I personally would give the game 5 out of 10 at most since you have to deal with the other software. The game itself is more like 7 out of 10 to me and that’s being nice.
BF2 was a great game.
BF:BC2 while taking a new style to the game, was worthy of being called a great Battle field game.
BF3… falls short of both. Graphically it’s good but I personally don’t care about graphics as much as game play.
stupid formatting. looked better when i was typing it up.
Joe, if your’e reading this, reviewers are barely touching MW3′s singleplayer and giving the game 10s and 9s and ignoring bugs and glitches. As a part of the joe army, I demand you adress this! Please and thank you
The single player sounds really like Black Ops. I didn’t know to buy Battlefield 3 or Modern Warfare 3. I chose Call of Duty because I had played others in the series, and regretted it. MW3 is SHIT!
Is that the original battlefield theme playing really low in the videos background?
Please READ THIS!!!!
EA has yanked all online support for this game, in order to play online you have to either rent a server or join a clans rental server which may charge a maintnence Fee, It is official EA has killed BF3′s free to play servers in order to endourse rental servers.

If anyone can contact AJ via twitter or face book, he needs to alert the angry army, the very reason to play battlefield has now become a pay to play service.
Im sorry to tell DICE Air to Air combat storyline team. But from my own military expectancy a pilot would not be breathing in a aortic kind of way. While going under extreme G forces he or she would be doing a thing called the “Anti-G Straining Maneuver” which teach them to control breathing and maintaining a normal cardiovascular rhythm while in a dog fight. They would not be breathing like they just run 3 miles. If that was case they would loose consciousness, black out and die. Just though people should still know it’s not close to the real life. But kudos for trying DICE tho should ask for some military advice next time. Also the whole laser sight would not even work since most laser sight are made to see in IR (infrared) or with NVG (night vision goggles) with IR mode on. You can manual switch it on were it can be seen with the necked eye but thats for testing it a BZOing which is a military terms that means alining the laser with the barrel of the rifle to that where laser and your rounds are on target and any case you just see a red dot not line or beam. It would blind you most definitely during the day with the sun out.
Why does it say 32 players online?
Because the console version only has 32 player support for multiplayer , while the pc version has 64
I just noticed that the critic is the one who sings “AJ is There!”
I will be honest that this game is not like BF2 at all but its still good. I won’t say its bad. However for me, I do not like competitive games much. I am really bad the shooter games at times. Mostly due to bad luck and cheapness. But it was a fun game. I got more kills in that game than in MW3. However, due to the story and issues when I played my PS3, I did not pick it up much and I recently sold it. Joe, you gotta realize that we can’t all obtain BF3 for the PC. I would but I do not have the money to obtain an expensive laptop OR desktop computer. You wish us players to buy a possible 3000 dollar laptop (for a good graphic card one basically), AND buy the game (around 40-50 bucks now) just to play it? Hell no.
One question, Joe.
Why the hell is your Red Dot in front of the ironsights? That just seems so unnecessary.
Hi Joe. From my point of view, I would gave this game 6 max 7 out of 10. The reasons are several (At least for PC version):
1. Totally bugged out on their release date (Had to have 3 patches to actually play it smoothly)
2. Punkbuster sucks and a number of cheaters are on the official servers.
3. Campaign
4. CO-OP
5. It’s okay to have that kind of feature like see your progress…but why for God sake we have to start our multiplayer game even through the browser??? Shouldn’t it be great to start the game only once and search servers from the game? Instead we have to wait until it loads and when we want to end the match, we have to turn it off…find another server and start the game again.
6. Way too much of the weapons which 60% are useless.
7. DLC which include 4 recreated maps and added several weapons for 15 Euro ???
I’m sorry, but it’s really hard for me to see how a game with 4-5 hour single player can be given an 8 just because of graphics and multiplayer. You say that you disagree with that paradigm, but you exacerbate it by not having any conviction on the matter.
I’m gonna make an Angry Army on Battlelog. WHO’S WITH ME?!
Give me the name of the Platoon!
I have to disagree on ONE thing with you, the Soundtrack.
The main theme HAS the original old-school Battlefield theme, it’s in the background and gave me goosebumps when I heard it.
