Im not in the US so this not affect me directly.
Its a serios problem. If the bill goes trough in America then God knows
what stage will this be evolving. Controlling all users on the net worldwide?
Yes the SOPA vs. piracy is a problem too. But this reviews, shows have nothing to do
with it. Involving this kind of entertaintment to their socalled “war” is a shame for the SOPA.
How much skin do they have in their faces?

most of the industrialized countries are ruled by money its not just America, the fact that the government is more or less going to dictate to everyone what they are allowed to do or post on the internet makes me feel like were loosing a lot of rights. granted copyright infringements are a huge deal if people are loosing jobs over them, but i can’t really feel that bad about the multi billion dollar corporations are making maybe a few less dollars. have you ever noticed its not the creators of the songs that attack people for posting their music its the record labels that contract them.
i like using youtube to find bands personally but nothing will ever beat a live show! Canada is even jumping on board and making their own version of SOPA that if passed will make it illegal to transfer songs from CD’s (that you purchase legally or otherwise) to your MP3 player or even your computer. stuff like that makes me want to get stuff for free and illegally then going through all the hoops that the corporations are putting in place.

If they really want to stop copyright they should make the media more accessible, and at a little cheaper price. i’m pretty sure some sort of a war is coming…. and it all will be fought online :P

I don’t mean to troll this comment but I can’t sit here and let someone say that America is corrupt or that money only controls America.
First off, EVERY country is corrupt in its own way, America suffers from a great divide that was once a mutual understanding between people and government has become a divided nation of massive government involvement which pushes federal laws on every state, making it a unified union instead of united states.
The power to the people was destroyed when democrats came into office and lied to the people saying that they’re for people when they’re for a larger, more controlling government.
Republicans are for a much more privatized country, which means it’s ACTUALLY FOR the people and not for large government involvement in our everyday life.
It’s a common myth that has been flared so largely since Bush was in office that Republicans are corrupt and not for the people, this is what the media, popular articles/movies and paid propaganda has lead people to believe, so they can dig their hands deeper into the pockets of all Americans, where things like money, property, beliefs, etc are no longer yours and the government can tell you what to do with this things and if you don’t obey, you WILL be punished in one form or another.
People like Obama have been pushing ideas like “Social Health Care” onto Americans for some time and in retrospect it sounds good, who doesn’t want health care if they’re sick? But in actual terms it’s more or less the government telling you that you HAVE to have health care and it HAS to be their approved health care, meaning you have no say in what doctor or treatments you can explore.
Same goes for things like public schools….is the public school in your district terrible but the private school in it good? If you don’t have the money for the private school, then too bad…you’re stuck with the public school with bad teachers for your child, simply because you do not have the money or do not live in that district. Or perhaps there is a better public school a mile or two away but in a different district, you must suffer and succumb to the school with lower standards of education, simply because the government tells you, you have to.
(Think of this in terms of health care).
Now what if it’s just the problem of having one or two bad teachers in that school, why not fire them and make the school better, right? Just like you would in most other jobs…if you don’t do your work right, you get fired…correct? Wrong. Not in a democrat controlled country…
Now schools have been controlled by democrat loving union companies that put so much force and pressure on schools that they CAN NOT fire the terrible teachers without actual legal cause (simply put, if the teacher(S) is terrible, too bad…you can’t fire him/her because the schools are in fear of the union’s actions that will follow).
Now who does this come down to? But worker rights are important right? So aren’t unions fair for protecting that teacher so they don’t lose their job? Or are they socializing the work place into a equal environment where that teacher that does a poor job, get’s the same pay as the teacher who DOES their job….that my friend is socialism.
Where everyone is the same, everyone get’s paid the same, everyone gives the same, everyone’s money is everyone else’s money and there are NO losers (which means no real competition which is the basis of all proper evolution, unless you want everyone to be dumb over time) and no matter the type of work you do, you will be paid and treated the same…because equal rights are awesome!
Nope. There is a difference between equal rights and the democrat way of equal rights.
So in a short term sense it means “why should I bother to do a better job at my job when I get paid the same as the person doing a bad job?”
What do you think that’ll do to the economy, education and over all nature of human kind over a prolonged period of time?
Can you say, social dariwism laced with stupidity, lazy and belief that “everyone deserves something for at least trying”…we did not get where we are as a country and as a species simply by living off of this method, we thrived and built everything around us from competition, hard work and our own blood sweat and tears which in the end, it was ours to keep.
After all, why would you work 50 hours a week just to give someone else your money that you worked for because they didn’t feel like working? That’s the society that democrats support but they’ve brainwashed so many people to think it’s about the people when it’s really about their control over people.
      WAKE UP America!

By TGWTG trying to stop the SOPA from taking effect, wouldn’t that convince the pro SOPA to really make the bill pass. I mean do TGWTG actually pay for the use of the material used in their videos.
The SOPA is designed to try and stop websites such as TGWTG and angry joe from making videos, so by going down to DC to try and fight against it, isn’t that just pointing out exactly who it is they’re trying to fight against, Not that I agree with the SOPA but I don’t think fighting it is the right course of action to take, Unfortunately Not many things are a good way to stop it, The government will eventually pass the bill in some form or another, Torrent sites are a prime example of what power corporations have over the internet. It’s just that the SOPA is a much bigger task to take on so it’ll take a bit longer

fully support the fight against SOPA. Your reviews Joe are so invaluable because I’m so sick of these corporations selling crap that I buy because they deliberately mislead you and rip you off with their products. By watching your shows I’ve saved myself heaps of money avoiding the crap.
Thanks angry joe and keep up the good fight. Merry christmas by the way and all the best for the new Year!

This damned bill is the worst amount of BS ive ever heard since the tooth fairy. Do any of our congressmen realize that they shouldn’t fuck with what they don’t understand, and this is something that they dont understand. This build is sinister and evil and blasphemous to all people who have even used a web browser. is it that hard to actually research what they are going to affect with their bills?

I left the following comment on a few news sites regarding the issue… After watching this vid (I admit I ignored it for the past week or so), I understand the problem a little more, but not very much… Still seems to me that it’s going to be difficult to pass.

    ======

I have to be honest… The people against this bill aren’t giving me a valid reason to be worried about it. I don’t advocate censorship by any means, trust me… But I’ve never seen a decent point about why I should worry about it. It’s already illegal to dl all that shit in the first place, but it’s still possible.

Please excuse me if I’m ignorant of the situation as a whole, but if the congress doesn’t understand the internet, then why should I worry about them being able to block me from seeing something? What will I be missing? Should I be worried that I can’t watch a movie review from Spoony or Angry Joe? I don’t understand how that would be, considering the fair use and Millenium act… Besides, who are they going to pay (who knows the interwebs well enough) to start blocking websites? Wouldn’t people who have the technical “knowhow” be opposed to such a thing and basically refuse to implement it?

From what I understand, the government can come in and shut down your website based on if movie/music/tv companies don’t want you to review their content? How is this possible? I am a HUGE fan of TGWTG, Spoony, Joe, AVGN, etc. Am I to believe that something as innocent as pop-culture reviewers are at risk of having their sites shut down?

    Wouldn’t that be OBVIOUSLY unconstitutional?

    Thanks for reading,
    -Z-

    I have just one question.
By what standart is it going to be judged?
A Person deciding what is infringement and what is not is just not Possible.
Of course The Piracy wil go down by a bit, but Peoples lifes will be permanennty changed for the worse.
Please ask these People if they have ever watched a video online.
If they have, ask them what the video was about.
Was it about theyr family? A Vacation? Or one of theyr own Speeches on youtube?
Tell them that if they want to pass ths bill, and content seen from someone elses perspective is “wrong” and could damage theyr own name, it could very well be someone who is voting for a different candidate and just block theyr speech.

Please stop these people from passing this bill,
Good luck Joe, show them whats wrong and what is right.

I wish there was a simple answer to that, considering if it starts here, it will only spread around the world. I think the best thing that you could do is to contact your local/regional government and ask them to speak out on SOPA.

However, the movie/TV industry (which is really only about 3-4 HUGE companies) have their hands in every government cookie jar… It’s really a cash issue, IMO, which makes it nigh impossible to stop.

Thank you for your interest in helping us here in the States though…

Sigh… just like those recent “internet safety” bill attempts.
My faith in humanity has dropped 10 points as i head this.
Srsly you are rescuing terrorists and shooting hostages here dear US goverment.

Yeah when we voted for you, when you screamed “freedom for everyone! the Freedom of speech is what makes us american, it’s what our forefathers fought and died for in the world war, it’s what we’ll keep!”.
    And now we have this.
The power to make decisions is truly terrifying, for it corrupts all but the most just ones. And here we have perfect example of what our grandfathers fought against, with bullets and tanks.
Now we can fight as well, not with rifle on our hands but with words, with logic, and with honor.
    Good luck to you, AngryJoe.
