lol… Awesome video to start the new year. Yup, i agree with the majority of your list. I think Marvel Vs Cap com 3 is perhaps the poster-boy of why video games are pirated. Video game companies have lost the trust of their consumers with crap like this and so many others.I laugh so hard when i watch your movie licensed game reviews man. I know its all a script, but i imagine it being truly as painful as you make it appear to be.
Do you like video games? Did you know that the ESA ( Entertainment Software Association ) is a company that runs E3, which is the gaming industries biggest source of advertisement for video games and anything related to them. They are Supporting SOPA/PIPA And these folks who are making this video have asked us ( their viewer’s ) to tell all of our favorite game critics such as those on TGWTG.com and those associated with Channel Awesome ( to name a few ), to not attend or cover E3. If you enjoy the internet and video games of any sort. Even just Facebook ones. I suggest you take this issue seriously. There are many more immediately dangerous things that have been approved by the government than SOPA, such as the FEMA camps and the bill that allows the military to indefinitely detain any American citizen they feel is adding terrorism. But such things, sadly have been proven in the past to be immune to public outcry. However SOPA can be effected by public outcry. As the white house itself has spoken out against it, which is amazing, honestly. I need to admit on something. at least two of these games are disappointing, but i can understand why you put them here.
You hate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 because at this point, it’s just fodder now and you wasted your money while people are going for Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and we know you better than that. you ranted your head off on the idea that somehow for the first time, Capcom somehow listened to your idea and made it into a product. But in essence, MvC3 is just disappointing because of no story mode! C’mon! i’m a Story mode addict! i LOVE that shit! but all in all, MvC3/UMvC3 is an EXCELLENT party game. We played this game like crazy in our Anime Club and had fun.
now with duke….i couldn’t tell, but i knew you hated it not because it didn’t have such good gameplay and it looks nasty, you HATED those AND the fact that they dumbed down the Duke universe. I’m not sure if you played The Doctor who Cloned me single player campaign DLC or even if you did, it wouldn’t have made a dent on your verdict or not. Better off playing the Download titles of Duke like the Classic 3D game or even the awesome 3rd person Manhattan Project. Untill the release of Duke Nukem 3D: Reloaded, Duke has to deal with the shit (but they do deserve credit for going out of their way to shock the hell outta us with the Hive scene. Anyone who has the balls to do that something risky probably understand the mature level of Duke, but not enough to match up to him)

Ya it was funny that they completely ignored his(And anyone for that matter) criticism and anything of value that he said that “would have” helped them, but yet took his JOKE into account and actually rushed out another quick cash in attempt. Screw Capcom, they company went to the toilet.

Dragon age 2 was disappointment. Duke Nukem was trash. IS trash. Either way the creators of both game have nothing to be proud of. Duke is no disappointment noo it is crap. The jokes are not that good and the spirit of its predecessor is gone. Maybe they should’ve started it from scrap. 10 yrs development bunch of different companies and that is what u get. Don’t know about CoD and MW3. They are all about multiplayer afterall. Anyway nice job once again Joe

It felt like a clone of a clone of a clone of a clone… Probably the best way to put it would be to say that it was a 2004 or so game released in 2011 instead of in 2004 when it “would have been” good. I mean, look at any older game and imagine what would have happened if it was instead released 5+ years later in exactly the same version. This thing was rotted and decayed long before it could even be played.

MW3 really should of made it onto the list, it was basically MW2.5, a few new things but besides that nothing had changed

Why wasnt MW3 on this list? Sure it wasnt as bad as most of the other games on this list, but the lack of creativity, the unoriginality, the bad voiceacting, the stupid AI, the bad story, the bad graphics and the boring characters, the badly simplistic online, the toy sounds on the guns and even some of the unoriginal game modes. This at least it should be nr. 11 on the list. And when it comes to Duke Nukem Forever: Although it was utterly disapointing with a bad ending, i had fun with it. I had much more fun with this than with for example MW3. MW3 made me sick when i was done with i. And when it comes back to Duke Nukem Forever. I saw some behind the scenes, and the creators of the game looked proud of what they made, i think they actually tried, but they didnt realise how disapointing the game would be. Lets just hope that someone somewhere can get the real duke back.

No one gives a fuk about CoD games anymore and have no expectations for them. Back in 2005 CoD was something, now it is “just another shooter”. Why would one disappoint you now? You shoulda been disappointed years ago.

Marvel vs Capcom 3 had the fighting mostly down (it still had its problems) and it was fun but the problem is that’s the very basic of a fighting game.
It either lacked or sufferes in nearly every other way
in other words, again, IT’S FUCKING BARE BONES

His point was if that all the money the rich movie industries have couldn’t make a decent game, how well is a much lower budget TV channel/show going to do on it? Sad thing is that Man Vs Wild probably had more money put into it than Thor did. Those movie licensed games are literally 0 effort copy/paste cash ins on the movie’s name. They expect the name to carry the sales… and it does. It’s a profit. That’s why they do it. Man Vs Wild looks like it had some kind of effort put into it though; I think it was just too low budget to succeed. That type of thing should be DLC for like 10 or 15$, not on a retail disc.

It’s strange Joe, you either don’t understand the difference between a bad game and a disappointing game or you had to put Duke Nukem Forever in here, because you forgot to put it in the most disappointing game’s list…
Like I said in my comment on the most disappointing games of 2011, Duke Nukem should have been in THERE. All of the “bad” of this game, comes from the high expectations. Therefore it should be counted as a severely disappointing game, not a bad one. Duke Nukem Forever wasn’t good, nor bad, just incredibly mediocre.
Other than that, great list and I agree with (most of) it.

Duke Nukem wasn’t a disappointment because anyone with brains KNEW it was going to suck long before it hit the shelf. It was downright obvious. You seem to be the one that doesn’t understand. Also, the game is utter trash, plain and simple. Calling it “mediocre” is generous. Call of Duty quality games are “mediocre”; this is just garbage. All of the games on this list are garbage. The “disappointment” list are games that aren’t garbage… but just didn’t live up to expectations. With DNF you had no expectations, because you knew it was going to suck cock… at least if you were smart.

Duke Nukem Forever was a 2000 game released in 2011. That’s a bad thing. Don’t get it? Well, it’d be no different if you re-released a PS2 game today on the 360 or PS3, with barely any difference, but yet charged another 60$. It’s outdated in every way possible and boring as all hell due to today’s standards. After <1 hour, the "coolness" of Duke's jokes, if they can so be called, will wear off and you will be forcing yourself through the rest of the boring game as if it were a boring chore. The only reason you will bother to do that is because you paid for it and want to get your money's worth… The linear gameplay and progression bored me so much that I couldn't bother to finish it. I didn't even get up to the wall boobs before wanting to wash my hands of that trash… and that's probably the best/most funny part of the game.

It’s good to see that the atrocious piece of garbage called Duke Nukem is on the list. As I’ve mentioned before, this is NOT the Duke we came to love. It’s his halfwitted inbred cousin.
As for Mindjack: It’s like they tried to make a Deus Ex-esque game but failed in all aspects. Or they must’ve been high when they began coding it.

Some of these games aren’t just bad, they’re violations of the Geneva Convention. In fact, I’m pretty sure that Mindjack was developed by North Korean terrorists as a part of their psychological warfare program.

Great wrap ups Joe! I’ve been waiting to see your angry side again since so many good games came out recently. A few suggestions if I may:
*By dubbing your review over your previous review footage, it made for awkward syncing at times when we watched clips of you talking. Not too bad in this video but it threw me off a few times in your “Best of” list
*I really would have liked to see some titles in these countdowns that you DIDN’T review already.
*More Other Joe (dude is hilarious)

What I hate are all the other critics out there that give trash like Duke or Mindjack 7/10 or 8/10. It’s downright insulting to our intellect and a downright LIE. I do have to give Duke credit for its intro though… because it’s a perfect display of what the rest of the game is about. It basically says, “If you don’t like this shit, quit now”, and I did soon after.

MvC3 does not deserve to be on the list. It’s a tourny fighter. All a tourny fighter needs is mechanics and balance and it has enough of each to be the top game of EVO 2011. From a tournament player’s standpoint it was an excellent game, and to be honest, for MvC3, nobody else really matters but the pro gamers.

I agree. It should have been on the “Most Disappointing” list due to it’s lack of features. Otherwise, the game is a lot of fun to play.
BUT! I do think it’s criminal that the game never got any updates. The online matchmaking is SERIOUSLY BROKEN. Anytime I want to play online, I have to start a Story mode and REMEMBER to enable Fight Requests (cause it doesn’t save a default under your profile). Traded it in for 9 dollars, only to spend another 30 on UMvC3. A REAL bummer

If you bothered to compare MvC3 to other fighting games… you’d understand. Mortal Kombat is BURSTING with value/features, where as this game was just bare bones with bare MINIMUM. So tell me, would you rather spend 60$ on a game that has 10x as much on it, or spend 60$ on a game with 10x LESS?

You know, looking back now and playing Marvel vs Capcom 3 again, I can understand why Joe ranked the game #5. There’s other flaws that went without mention in the review, one major flaw I can point out while keeping this comment short and simple is the AI.
It’s god awful and by that I mean “Call of Duty” god awful.
It either blocks everything (anything above Normal) or is a punching bag (Normal and below), seems to cheat often ala Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 style, even on the harder difficulties AI performance is inconsistent. One playthrough you kick the game’s ass and then play again on the same difficulty and team and have it completely kick your ass the entire time.
Hell, after the first update it seems like it got worse as it learned to projectile spam (Sentinel, MODOK, Ryu and Iron Man in my experience)
Doesn’t help that I remember Seth flat out admitting that the game reads your button input.

I’m surprised that Marvel vs Capcom 3 made it to #5 on Joe’s worst list.
Pretty saddened he didn’t mention the blatant balancing issues in the game (i.e. Wesker, Akuma, Chun-Li and her unpatched infinite combo)

Great video joe! You and the AVGN are my main video game reviewers, I learn history from AVGN, and I learn of current games thanks to you! Being poor and only able to play rythme games ( guitar hero, rock band ), I never had to chance to experience these games, and watching your reviews makes me feel like I’m playing them. You rock!

Well, Capcom is known to fuck over its fans a lot lately, so I am not surprised anymore by what Capcom does to fuck us over a table. Just hurt.
And if Capcom felt Megaman was going downhill and blames that as a reason to make him obscure now, maybe they shouldn’t have released that DS Starforce stuff. My god, it was boring. T_T And the character was not Megaman! EXE had more of Megaman!
And man, I completely forgot about some of these games. @_@ At least I was right about Mindjack being the worst. Look on the positive side: you dealt with the worst of the worst at the earliest. Now I just hope Mass Effect 3 will not end up on this list; just preordered it on amazon.
Good job, Joe, and I praise you for enduring such torment from all of these games! I can barely do it as it is. Example: Spider-Man Edge of Time for the DS. Now if I can just muster the words for my 3rd Birthday review…

You know what pisses me the hell off, having to watch two advertisements that load in 1080P, 3D, 7.1 surround sound, and say they are 30 seconds but in fact are a complete minute.
and after that i want to watch the you know video i came here for, it needs to buffer……

I don’t get any advertisements at all. I just click the video and it plays without anything else. Even on Hulu I don’t get it. Maybe you should learn about some browser plug ins.
