hey joe if you like Action rpg you should try Dragon’s Dogma!!!!!!!
Dude, cool review, and I’m really excited now about the game. But your moustache is ridiculous and you look like a douche
Never seen flaming chakrams?
I guess you’ve never played Kingdom Hearts.
Hey Angry Joe!
Try Elsword Out!

Is there a chance that we will see a “NeverDead”-review? That game got trashed by Gametrailers and also slightly less destroyed by Gamespot, yet I’m still unsure. It looks like it has potential if you manage to make the best out of it.
Please review SWTOR Joe, PPPLLLEEEAAASSEEE!!!!
I pre order this kickass game & have been able to stop playing since! SUPOOPRT THIS GAME RPG FANS!! SUPPORT THIS GAME GOD DAMN IT!!

Good news: They ARE working on another Amalur game at 38 Studios.
Potentially Bad news: It’s an MMORPG.
As many have noted, this game has a lot of similarities to World of Warcraft and other MMO’s. This is part of the reason why.
However, if they kept up the combat style and voicework, then it could be a very good MMO.
I just hope they continue the single player games as well for those of us not interested in MMO games.
What’s with all the TF2 review requests? That game is like 5 years old. And its free to play now so you don’t need a review just try it.
I want a review so that everyone can know about it because its a fun game and everyone keeps telling me COD is better so i would like to see what JOE thinks about it thats all
No, you are just a fanboy who can’t respect opinions of others. Normally people wouldn’t care such thing unless you lack faith in yourself. So get one for yourself if you know whats good for you.
So what if other person said COD is better? It’s not true if you think otherwise. Granted, I don’t know much about TF2 and its community, but I’m sure it has a lot of fans who supports it so what’s the problem? You just wish there was a problem because you believe everyone should love your favorite games don’t you? No games can satisfy everyone in this world, because everyone got different tastes and there is no right or wrong answer to this world, especially in case of a game because if you are having fun with it without a doubt then there is no problem.
If you are thinking gaming as some sort of social status you are making a mistake. Either way, if you are having fun then you shouldn’t get upset about opinion of others. So stop asking Joe to review it. I have a feeling that if Joe says COD is better you is going to troll like mad.
Again, have faith in yourself.
your right i am sorry thanks for making me think
how about you do team fortress 2 next plz!!!
This is the review Skyrim should have had
I am actually so sick of everyone requesting a retrospect and whinning about the skyrim review. I think it was his opinion. he may have actually liked the main story and such. and if not the side questing makes you so distracted i barely did the main story till lvl 32. again its preference. if you liked the story cool, i was not a fan but whatever. its a 10/10 for him. even if you don’t agree.
ps i know i am late on this i was without decent internet for a while.
great review joe the story is lacking but the combat is great and the fate shifting mode is really fun
I think this game is better then skyrim. In skyrim the main story is aright i guess u beat the dragon and thats it.The dragons don t go and thats it no one says anything to u that u beat the the main dragon the combat in skyrim is aright better then oblivion.I really like the story in kingdom of a amalur like the things u do in it if some one is going to die u can stop it or u could kill some one who won t die u change things in this world so i give skyrim a 9 out of 10 the main story might be aright but the side missions are good and i give kingdoms of amalur a 10 out of 10 but thats what i think
wasn’t even as big as other big RPG’s such as Dragon Age Origins.
Overall, good review Joe.I had a lot of fun with this game, even though the story was lackluster,it still made me play everyday until I finally finished it.
A thing which, surprisingly,Skyrim didn’t manage to make me do.
Completing Skyrim’s main story after doing all the faction quests and some other side quests(was level 47 at the time)made me uninterested in the game any longer.I haven’t had the immersion I once had at the beginning to make me enter the game again.I haven’t since.
I’m completely agree with Joe here. Story of RPG makes up 2/5, if not 3/5, of it overall score. The Combat is pretty fun and endless but bland character, bland lore, and bland quest doesn’t make me hooked to KoA like Elder Scrolls or Dragon Age: Origins did. In Oblivion, we remember Martin Septim, Mankar Camoran, Sheogorath, Gray Fox, Lucius Lachance. In Skyrim, there is Paathurnax, Ulfric, Jarl of Whiterun, Nazir and that loli vampire from Dark Brotherhood. And of course in Dragon Age:Age Oirigins, we have Flemeth, Duncan, Master Wade, and of course your party. The fact I can write them all without looking up to goggle, that mean it truly a must for a RPG to have not only great story but also great lore as well.
Score of 7.00 really done a justice.
I’m about 30 hours into KoA so far and it is one of the most enjoyable games I’ve played in a long time. I love Elder Scrolls but its mundane hack and slash or hide behind a pillar with your bow combat made me stop playing it. Also, Skyrim has a complete lack of unique items that make dungeon crawling worth the effort. In KoA I’m constantly driven to explore new dungeons cause I never know what weapons or armor I’m going to find.
I agree that the story is as forgettable as the NPC’s, except the intro, and often find myself just clicking skip instead of reading what they say, but about everything else is thoroughly enjoyable.
You forgot to mention Unbinding your Destiny which is a really nice feature. Say you spec’d your guy into a full rogue but a few hours into the game you decide you would really rather be a mage but don’t want to start over. No worries. Go to a Fateweaver and you can reset your skills and abilities and then redistribute them as you see fit for a couple grand in gold.
Im playing the PC version and would be interested in knowing any difference between it and the console version.
Actually I have would have to fully agree with you I’m been waiting for this game for about a year and a half to just play and to me it was totally worth the wait. The combat totally blows skyrim out of the water. This is a game I could easily see my spend hundreds of hours playing without ever get tired of playing. I went and bought KOA for the x box 360 and it was worth the purchase.
I couldn’t agree with you more while skyrim was good but the combat was bad whit some cool cut scenes wich kinda made up for it and after i become a god steamrolling all my enemies i stoped playing because it became boring but in KOAR combat is fun story has it’s awsome moments but yeah it is week in a lot of places but a lot of fun non the less best game to go from skyrim if you get bored of it
respeccing (fateweaving) is a dumb noob mechanism and should not be praised
Talk about “Pisses me the hell off”, our family is tight on money, so once I got BF3, I got home only to find that I have to spend $10 on an online pass. ….which I don’t have!
Quick time events? no thanks, I think i’ll pass.
Epic Boss fight!

I doubt that i will buy this game. But i do love RPG’s. Its first of all because i hate that gameplay type where you just boringly stand there with an annoying overhead view from too far away,. I like the more direct fighting system in the Elder Scrolls series. The second reason is because it looks overexcessive. I hate games that overdo the things you can do. The third reason is because youre not given enough freedom in these types of games, unlike Skyrim, where you can go wherever you want to.
And the last is because of kind of unoriginal it looks and how bright all the colors are. I want my game dark, grim and detailed to a level that doesnt make it look like a cartoon. And because of some of the overly sized weapons. And the boring and cheesy way to activate spells and skills.
So far I find this game more enjoyable than Skyrim, the best part about Skyrim is the world and exploring it the combat in that game is so bad is not even funny. I can’t remember any NPC’s in Skyrim aside those from The Dark Brotherhood, The Thieves Guild and Lydia.
In this game I can’t remember any NPC so far but at least exploring the world and the combat is fun.
You don’t forget Lydia because she always behind you lol
I can’t believe that you actually skip Ulfric, Paathurnax, Jarl of Whiterun, and Erandur.
Try to read some books in the game and you will chance your opinion really fast.
Nah… That “DLC” included on those codes are usually quite minor things.. But still they’re quite bullshit.
The game is good but it wont show up on any game of the year list. I’m personally using it to kill time until Mass effect 3.
Hope Joe isn’t into perverted Witcher fanfics. It makes me worry every time I see the sex scene in that game in your reviews (kidding kidding).
The combat sounds interesting enough, but I want to know if everything in this review is true or not. Not that I don’t trust him, but he isn’t exactly a guy who can analyse technical stuffs accurately. I am picky at this thing so keep in mind where I’m coming from when any of you reply.
Joe completely left out the really bad parts of the combat system, the archery is the worst I have ever used outside of an MMORPG. It is embarrassingly bad actually and relied entirely upon auto-targeting which often ended up with it targeting a pile of boxes instead of enemies. The magic wands seem pretty bloody similar to the wands in the last Harry Potter game Joe reviewed too, not quite as bad but similar.
I also found that button mashing worked as well as using the combos much of the time too and in comparison with games that actually have good melee combat like Dark messiah of Might&Magic or M&B: Warband it was pretty awful on the PC.
Well. maybe it wasn’t as bad as you make out to be on the 360. Although, you are talking about the PC version, which I was planning to get, so thats something I should consider because control scheme will be different on mouse and keyboard.
As for the button mashing I don’t think it will be a problem because as long as the game allows me to choose my prefered fighting style. I can always restrict myself from using an overpowered stuffs to maximise the experience. Sort of like Devil May Cry, which doesn’t require you to fight efficiently but demand you to fight with style.
Hmm it looks like your site ate my first comment (it was extremely long) so I guess I’ll just sum it up what I wrote and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog. I too am an aspiring blog writer but I’m still new to everything. Do you have any tips and hints for first-time blog writers? I’d certainly appreciate it.
YES! YES! YES! YOu are absolutly right joe. We need to support this new ip so that it can live up to the potental is could so easily have. Great review! : )
Should’ve been an 8.
So it’s as good as Dragon Age II? Hmph
after playing it I must say the game’s…meh
I dunno I think i’ve just been playing to much rpg’s last year because it felt like I was playing a weird mix of Skyrim, dragon age and WoW
I’m going to try this game even though it comes short to some rpg qualities but really this is a new franchise and a new setting so it is understandable that it will take a while for the developers to get comfortable with it and how the game plays.
More movie reviews please …
has joe reviewd god of war?
Why would he everyone already has bought it already. He makes reviews so you know if its worth your hard earned cash to buy it. GoW wouldn’t make sense under those standards.
review T F 2 TEAM FORTRESS 2! PLZ
i think its important to remember that its the 1st game of Kingdoms of Amalur.
and i gonna play this game only becose of the main story and battle system
if EA gonna keep this up and improve more stuff this could be the perfect RPG for me.
Agree with the EA rage but you needed to adress the difficulty issues and weird leveling progress (you are overleveled pretty fast if you do all sidequests in an area) and abilities are kinda force when you level up and want to stick with a build. Also if 1 sidequests sends you into another area the mobs are locked in level but you might only be there a bit for that quest and then when you finally start that area you are leveled too high.
We also need a SHARED STASH (between chars trading like sacred 2), finding so much cool loot for different builds you cant use sucks
Lets hope DLC fixes all this.
The rest of the review is spot on! I even posted on the official forums that I bought it anyways even though I had my doubts to support a new RPG ip.
awesome review joe =) are u going to review ‘amy’ by any chance? it would be hilarious !
Yes! If you were to compare AMY to the worst games of 2011 AMY would have sent them ran back home to their mommas (might be on the same level as Mind Jack if not worse)
The combat is not good because the game is too easy even on hard. Spamming rewards you more than actually using the combat system to its fullest, and 4 ability hotkey slots SUCKS.
But still a fun game though I love looting and boss fights are great.
Later I’ll watch the review and see if Joe dislikes this too and comment on other points he makes.
I agree with Joe. This game is average. It feels exactly like I would be playing an MMO, only without other players. Nothing you do (at least so far) makes any real difference in the world. NPCs may have slightly different dialogue, but thats it. For example, the NPC who constanly prays at the graveyard for her huspand to return still does that even after the huspand has (allegedly) returned. And the village that is struggling against the spider witch never cleaned up even after I killed the witch. I would have hoped that the village would have slowly repair itself after I dealt with the witch.
But the combat is so good that I still want to continue playing it.
Except Joe said it was a “Great game” not average.
I agree with what you mentioned in the review, Joe. I can also add that the PS3 version doesn’t have any online-pass of any kind. Just pop the disc in and you’re good to go.
Detect Hidden is a great skill, as is Mercantile. The amount of money you earn from those two skills is mind blowing. Currently, my toon has over half a million gold on him (imagine those pockets!) and I’ve absolutely nothing to spend them on. I haven’t even begun to scrape the surface of the main quest, either. Think it’s time for that.
The seeding of items at vendors seems a little wonky. too. Most of the times they have really crappy stuff in stock. Only once did I find something worth buying.
So, yeah. 7/10. Definitely worth your money and it is a fun RPG. But as Joe mentioned, not so memorable NPC’s and the story is kind of terrible.
Actually the PS3 version does have an online pass, but using it is completely optional. The online pass gives you access to a new faction quests and also it gives you the Mass Effect 3 armor set.
Hi Joe!
Have you ever played Dante’s Inferno? Because some of the interface of this game was in that game too.
I dont have any money to buy this sadly as im saving for a holiday this year (and im gonna break the bank to get Mass Effect 3 lol), besides Skyrim has got me hooked ive been making different charicters and with one of them almost explored the entire map. its kept me away from Star Wars The Old Republic which I really enjoy part from the side missions and actually trying to find peeps to group up with.
I hope you will Review SWTOR soon or give your impressions on what you think of the game so far, how is your guild doing, or are you still lvl 10 or something?
i dont think im gonna buy at full price, probably wait for a steam sale or something
I agree, Joe. I felt the game could have been much better but it was still great. Hopefully EA won’t fuck this one up for us too. Poor Dragon Age…
Sorry, but not buying this one. 1) I don’t have an internet connection for my xbox, so I couldn’t do the key code. 2) I just dropped $60 on SKYRIM!!! Still playing that. 3) I refuse to support EA in its efforts to destroy the used game industry. The only thing I have that’s EA is the Mass Effect games, but if they do this key code bullshit with ME3, I won’t be buying that one either.
They have key code “bullshit” as you call it. Every EA games have one now.
Mostly agree with the review. A thoroughly enjoyable game with a few “meh” parts
Hey Joe, what’s the song on 12:34?
I wonder the same.
Man :/
The choppiness in AJs reviews have just gotten even worse
I can’t actually watch this review through.
If you’re going to make an accusation like that, elaborate. Otherwise you’re just an asshole who’s being a troll to get negative votes.
I am enjoying this game thoroughly and I agree with most of the point that Joe makes.
Definitely worth the time and money.
