Having played this game and maxed out a character, I have to say that in the combat game-play category this game scores the highest among its competitors. There is no tabbing of targets, and you have to aim for all of your attacks (well, there are some lock on skills, but most skills) This makes the game very skill-based and a lot of hardcore gamers might like this style of combat.
However there seems to be a lack of pvp….despite this amazing combat system. Even when it is on the PvP servers, there is a lack of pvp. Maybe they should have wars like they have in Perfect World International instead of random pvp groups that just kill players grinding, where it is never a fair fight and it gets old after awhile.
As someone whose actually played the game, I’ve got a couple of things to state.
1-An in depth character creation and design system this is not, but it isn’t trying to be, alot of the melee designed classes feel like Monster Hunter Weapons [Slayer, Warrior and Lancer say hi] and to be frank, a Monster Hunter sorta feeling MMO with stronger RPG elements I’d really like and this is it…sure there’s MHF but that’s technically of limits to us brits.
2-Unlike WoW, who’s had I dunno about 8 years to create content, this is a new-ish title, so lots of well designed, polished aspects aren’t going to be here
3-ESCAPISM, LEARN TO USE IT!
4-Sure, the quests aren’t elaborate dialogue segments that involve voice acting branching stories and the such…and I know I’d get flack for this if anyone ever looks at this…I think that’s a good thing, the game focuses more on the parts that make it good, the Monster Hunter feeling gameplay and the main plot narrative, which so far looks kinda cool [Lv16 at time of writing this], I don’t give two shits about why this person can’t stand the screams at night of people getting mawed, cos I can sympathise and go, yup, this is a problem, time to fix.
5-Crafting, if it’s a problem, use the internet, it’s not an excuse for design, but if you really give a crap about doing it, go look it up, it’s obviously not a major part of their idea [otherwise degrading weapons would be about] and to be frank, all crafting ever was an old synthesis engine lifted from a game and just works with MMO’s, only difference being that in TERA, you can’t just mix random shit together.
6-No one’s said a word ’bout the confessedly not too fancy [atm] politics system, not saying a word
7-Let’s just put it this way, Phantasy Star Online meets Monster Hunter for a hefty price tag, I’m sold, doubt alot of others are though.
But, I do have the money to burn for this…sooo make of that what you will
Opening day.
I don’t really know where to begin. Its adult. It has jiggly boobs and eye candy galore. But thats about it.
the quest system sucks. Its wall of text that sends you to 3-4 more walls of text before you go kill 10 of these……over and over.
the tutorial will show you how to move around and fight but doesnt show you squat about your very intricate inventory system.Or crafting. And it doesnt touch upon combos at all.that in few words are a built in macro system.
back to questing. Its just wall of text, occasionally you will get cutscreen and voiced dialog. Those are pretty good. But 90% of it you won’t read nor care about.Click through fast and find out how many of what to kill.Gets boring fast.
I wont make assessments about end game im not there. But for a mmo its shallow. This lacks creativity. The only thing differant about this is jiggily boobs.Questing is old school eq1 go kill 10 of these over and over. And there isnt any real customization at all in classes other than glyphs.
I wish i saved my money for Guild wars 2.I got sucked into TERAs sexy theme. And thats all its got.It has pollished graphics and combat but after that, mindnumbing reasons to do it.
I’ll wait till it goes FTP after a year or so. I DO put money into MMOs, but I circulate MMOs every week or 2, playing any one MMO only once or twice per year, so monthly subscriptions are out of the question.
I got to be honest with you… this game looks bad, especially for a monthly bill game. I know no one is going to agree with me on any of this or my points, because most people are low standard morons that would rather drool over tits than be immerised in a game… but let me list out anyway what I notice so far that keeps me from being the slightest bit interested in this game. Keep in mind that I did all of 2005-2007 in WoW, 6 months in 2010 in WoW, and then all of 2011 in WoW, on top of 6 months in Warhammer. Before all of that, before WoW was even out, I did a year in EQ. I know what I’m talking about with die MMOs…
First issue I see here is the poor class selection. You’ve got 8 classes total to choose from… all with no talent trees. WoW had 10 classes with 3 talent trees per class, which basically means 30 unique choices since you have to go fill up a tree and be different than the other 2. Old Republic has 8 classes, but each still with 2 talent trees(+1 per 2 classes, for a total of 20), again likely separating you from others of the same class. It’s less than WoW, but still far more than this game. You see, those games offer you a lot of choice, variety, and customization for your 15/month. This game, by comparison, has very little to offer vs other MMOs in this area, yet still wants the same 15/month out of your pocket to play. Guild Wars 2 won’t have as many as those games… but it will still have more customization than this game.
Then you have the race selection, which is also weak. Why would I want to run around as a little 10 year old looking pixy girl with bunny ears? I guess some people would, whatever. I don’t care. Forget I asked that. But all the other races look almost the same… In other games we actually get races that look different than one another. Old Republic, Warhammer, WoW, or Guild Wars races look almost NOTHING alike. Here you get like 4 different variants of Humans that barely look different. In WoW you get Orcs, Tauren, Trolls, Dwarves with beards, Gnomes, etc. In Warhammer you get Goblins and Orcs. In OR you get Twi Lek, Rattataki, Zabrak, Sith “Purebloods”, and they all look vastly different than one another. In this game most of the races look the same except the panda and the little girl race… hard to get excited over that… At least Night Elves looked very different than Blood Elves, and the Dark Elves vs High Elves in Warhammer looked very different… here you got 2 Elf races that look more or less the same.
My final immediate issue with the game, just from seeing your video, is the nudity. You may like it, but it actually makes the game worse for us more serious MMORPG players. I realize you said you weren’t much of an MMO player, and that is reflected by how you are more than “ok” with this issue. I believe if you spent years on these games like I have you’d not be that way. Let me explain this in clarity because I am sure most clueless “oooo tits” kids will just flame me without a second thought. The problem with all this near nudity is that makes all the little kids roll girl toons just because they want to stare at a hot ass all day.(Which is exactly what you show in your video) This is a bad thing and makes the game less immersive. Don’t get me wrong, I fully support having our females be naturally “attractive”… instead of like fat ugly cows or whatever(Like female Tauren), but when you take it too far and turn them all into playboy spank material in almost no clothing, even in combat… it ruins the game. You got girls playing guy toons because they don’t want to look like a whore, while also having kids play girl heroes because they want spank material. A game is just more fun when the girls actually play girls and the guys actually play guys… When you turn all the female characters in a game into bikini models, you just ruin all that and cause 99% of the in game female characters to be what I started calling “dudechicks”.(You know, chicks with dicks? They look like a woman… but they really aren’t…)
It also makes the game less realistic when you have half nude chick warriors that have the exact same armor rating/defense as a male that is covered in metal top to bottom.(Which is now commonly seen on WoW since you can now edit your armor models. Literally all the chicks are almost nude in everything they wear now, which helped to ruin the game for me) I want warrior chicks to wear just as much armor as men do… because it’s called realism and I like realistic warrior women. It gives dept… it feels more real. I’m still ok with you being in your bra and panties if you’re like a Rogue or Archer hero or whatever… which don’t wear a lot of armor anyway and are frail.(Like Kera Knightly in King Arthur. She was mostly nude in that vest thing… but she was like a Rogue character with dodge, not an armored tank that stood in your front lines and said “attack me first plzthxbye”). But when you do that in tank/Warrior classes it helps to ruin the game for me. It’s depressing to see some chick up in the front lines tanking in her bra and underwear yet doing it just as effectively as heroes covered entirely in medal. All the hotness you mention in your video like it’s a good thing… just make me LESS interested in the game! It’s really disappointing to see half nude warrior chick heroes when the male versions cover themselves in plate. If the armor isn’t needed, then why do the men bother using it to begin with? If bare skin can take hits just as good as armor, which is the case for your nudy female warriors, then why do the men bother wearing the armor? You see how it just baffles the logic here? It ruins the game for me because it makes no sense. This makes about as much sense as a female cop having just as much protection as male cops when they wear bullet resistant vests while she is in her bra. Ya get it now? I wouldn’t enjoy that in a movie, and I don’t enjoy this in a game. If you want armor… you got to WEAR the armor… that’s how it’s suppose to work…
I still give the game credit for its unique action/combat system, which I will admit is interesting to me after all these years of auto attack and rotation button mashers… but again, Guild Wars 2 is going to do that exact same thing. Why not just wait for that game instead? Even if it takes until Christmas to get here, I’d still rather not waste my time and money in a monthly fee product in the mean time that I know I’ll be immediately ditching in less than a year. I see Guild Wars 2 videos and in that game, characters actually wear clothes… the races look unique from one another… there’s more customization… and to top it off, there’s no monthly fee.
If I was going to buy an MMO RIGHT NOW, aka to tide me over until GW2… I’d go get Star Wars. I’m not even a fan of Star Wars but the game itself looks really good with the dialogue in its quests and all its different classes. I played the beta and it was a solid experience for me. Even without being a Star Wars fan, I could totally see myself as a dual blaster pistol wielding bounty hunter or something… There’s talent trees… no stupid panda or pixel bunny eared race… AND WOMEN ACTUALLY WEAR CLOTHES IN THAT GAME. Female Bounty Hunter tank heroes for example are covered in just as much armor as men.<—–You see that? That right there. That's a good thing.
I didn’t even touch on professions, questing, or PvE/PvP content or anything else… I felt I said enough just having seen those issues and talked about them… I don’t have all the facts and answers but I know the first 2 are also bad. Maybe the raiding and PvP battlegrounds will be great and one or two of its saving graces… but imo at this point it wouldn’t be enough to save the game even if they were. I’ve already seen enough limitations, things I don’t like, and things that don’t make sense, to already keep me off this game.
In short this is just another MMORPG that will be swept under the rug like all the others 6-12 months after release. Things look bad for this one especially since Guild Wars 2 is slated for release later this year and will basically be a better game, in every possible aspect, than this one, while costing less to play.
so basically 90% of your argument is about Aesthetics?
Aesthetics – a branch of philosophy dealing with the nature of beauty, art, and taste, with the creation and appreciation of beauty.
You didnt like the painting? okay. What about the actual substance of the game
“All the characters look basically the same”
You realize this is the case with almost all High Fantasy games right? Rift, even Swtor doesn’t have much variation between races.
Just because Warcraft can pull off the cartooniness doesn’t mean that other games will.
Even still there is the popori if you want something different.
As for the Elin, even though you said to forget why you even asked. Joe already answered that question for you, some women want to play a little cutesy character as shown/heard in the video.
And the unrealistic? Fuck dude, it’s called fantasy for a damn reason.
QQ damn pay per month. id definitely get this game for 60 dollars if it were like guild wars.
Hey, Angry Joe, is their going to be an Angry Joe Army/Blistered Thumbs/TGWTG guild in Tera and Guild Wars 2? I don’t know if I’m going to get them, i might get Guild Wars 2 and possible Tera, but it would be nice to know if their is going to be one.
I have to admit that being on the fence on this particular game, but I will try to get a good look at it. The fact that it’s skill based instead of entirely equipment/level based.
Ack. Hit the post button a second too soon. The fact that it’s skill based is encouraging.
I pre ordered this and got into betas.
After playing betas I agree with AngryJoe. Its a good game. After playing to 23 certain aspects do get old alittle bit because lots of repitition.
I will say they have varied the monsters models and difficulty in the different areas alot so it can feel fresh for a while but i think boss fights are gonna be fun. it will need alot of new content tho i believe.
It looks great graophics wise. I will definitely give it 2 months my free month and ill get 1 additional month.
I dont know if ill play it longer because Guild Wars 2 is looking to really be THE NEXT GEN mmo… and its more non anime…which fits me more but who knows! well see.
I rate TERA a 7.5/10 so far.
Hmmmm…. This game gives me monster hunter vibes, even though it really isn’t much like it. Imma go try it, see what it has to offer. I loved monster hunter, so if it’s anywhere near similar, I’ll like it!
Definately a game for me: Most male characters who looks like bodybuilders and some who look kind of final fantasy lik, most chicks looks like models, oversized weapons, a third person camera that is set too far away from the character and a small bar where you put your skills at. Not going for that.
Definately NOT a game for me*
i am not so much into all this anime stuff but this is one is f***ing beeeeeaaaaaaaautiful!!!!
Basically Tera innovates some though combat is good its questing is terrible, alot of grindy elements like enchanting, and crafting can really be a pain to do. At level 20 in beta atm and i can say while are some great moments in the game when your fighting bigger monsters, and demons are just as many lame moments where your doing !!#$ work for random people…
If we could get TOR story, with Tera combat, and GW2 dynamic quests it would be perfect mmo >< over all enmasse(the publisher for NA) is saying are trying to westernize the game as much as possible also heard is a 1-40 quest over haul coming before launch. Over all i'm giving this game the benefit of a doubt.
Also Joe! not just you, even die hard mmo fans like myself are sick of old school mmo and are looking for something new! i think DCUO started the movement(which btw is another oood action mmo) and Tera is continuing the trend. I'd say games like WoW and TOR are on there way out.
I’ve been following TERA for a while and totally forgot about it. This video got my attention again and the game is looking good! Finally, combat that’s NOT a chore! The only thing I worry about is my ping (seeing as though I am in Australia).
But the gameplay looks solid enough to justify at least a months playing so I pre-ordered the game. I can’t wait to make a little Snuggle Fox Elin and be all like… f( ;.;)f grrrr
Hmm. Full blown action combat. Reminds me of the Phantasy Star Online games, in a way. Very pretty graphics, though. Looks like this would require more hardware than Guild Wars 2.
BOOBS!!! this game looks amazing especially female characters
i never played it, but from the review i can see that is like derived version from Age of Conan, with some improvments, but the combat is simplified.
I admit, I wasn’t really caring about this game until I saw “teh hotz women” now I def wanna play it! : )
Hey, Joe, what about a syndicate review?
Pretty good episode. Tera looks really beautiful especially when flying.
Bought the pre-order after seeing this preview
So looking forward to next weekend so I can try the beta!
Thanks Angryjoe!
Nice review about terra.
It looks nice to bad it has still the static questgivers in this.
Good thing the actionbased combat.
quick review from my perspective on SWTOR.
good the storyline.. really enjoyed it.
now to the somewhat bad…
the many bugs in the game
the good.. gets really fast patched.
now forthe bad again
the oldfashion graphics.
And after your done with your storyline its just another MMO like all the rest.
doing HM and dungeons till you get more gear grind.
iam very eager to know if other people see it the same way or not. without raging about this.
Its only a bear who makes the comment right?
Then again players in the end make or kill the game.
Man, I wish they made “Mass Effect Online”, not that into fantasy myself.
holy shit this is my kind of mmo but seriosli joe you realy need to get laid your scaring the shit out of me.thumbs up
Maybe it’s just me, but it seems the SWTOR is going to be a disapointment. I loved the KOTOR games, and i was crushed by the SWG being dumbed down. Them Killing all the hard workj i put in for being a jedi. Now hearing how hard it is get people to jump back into it doesnt show promise. I guess i shouldnt fret, i dont even have a capable pc to play it anymore
This looks pretty cool, but I can’t wait for your first look at Guild wars 2. I also can’t wait for your Old Republic review.
Joe, I think you’re sleeping on the couch tonight.
I will try this one out for the combat.
Yea Vindictus did it before Tera but Vindictus turned to shit once the removed the dedicated sever in favor of peer to peer connection. Nowadays it is a lag fest and nothing more. I can’t host even one player, so I have to join games and almost all lag like hell.
Not to mention it is very repetitive thanks to its reuse of dungeon structures. You can’t even really call it a MMO since everything is instanced and only the hub towns somewhat resemble a MMO.
In that regard Tera is still unique (at least to me) since it really tries to bring these action combat mechanics in an open world MMO environment.
I’m also sick and tired of fraction MMOs. Tera is no such thing. Back to clan wars and castle sieges. HELL YEA!
That will give it the necessary dynamic to keep it intresting.
I find the discussion of the sexualization in this game somewhat tiring. First of all its not only the females that are displayed that way. It is the males too. Watch a video of male Castanics armors and you will notice that they seem to be very proud to showcase their awesome six pack.
The next thing is that this is not new. I mean have a look at other Korean MMOs and you will notice that females always were depicted rather sexy (Males too again). Take the Dark Elves of Lineage 2 for example, that game is 8 years old*. The chainmail bikini stereotype is just old.
Then there seems to be demand for this kind of stuff. I mean look at some Skyrim mods. There is a game that uses realistic armors and what does people do? They practically undress the girls. I can’t really blame a company to go after that crowd.
As I understand you can transfer the look of one armor to another. So can choose one that is not that revealing and keep the look. Okay maybe hard with Castanics but not so hard for a High Elf or Human.
Last but not least it is mostly the Castanics outfits. The other races are more modest. Yea the others got their share of steel thongs as well but “most” outfits resemble some kind of armor.
The robes are even somewhat disappointing in this regard. I mean even the sexiest outfit seems like something an actual women could wear as a cocktail dress…
*Side note: Tera Elin = Dwarf Female in Lineage 2.
I got to play Tera a couple of weeks ago. I must admit it looks really nice and stuff like that and if you make a bunny girl you should be arrested even though the race is kinda old. Now then… the game looks amazing… but that’s all it got. The quest system is horrible, running up to something and start striking them causes you to be unable to move which is kinda bad for a action paced game. Also you can strike on a mob for a minute before it dies and that’s at level 1. I got bored with this game really quickly so even though I wanted to like this game it turned out to be horrible.
You mention 3 MMOs Joe… why do no one mention The Secret World these days? The game is right around the corner and it looks to be the best thing out there. 500 skills to learn, no levels. Actually having to do some research on the web to complete a few missions.
Agreed. I’m amazed at how few people talk about TSW. Especially in relation to often it emerges as the winner on many sites “most anticipated” games.
Modern day horror/pop culture setting with a freeform progression with no levels. Crafting follow a similiar pattern where it is all about exporing various combos and learn from items you find. No more farming resource nodes to get it up to 300. You learn by doing, instead of farming.
“Other games do it so it’s okay” isn’t a good response regarding the hyper-sexualization of females in this game. And sorry, the males don’t have it NEARLY as hard as the women do, and this post illustrates quite clearly the difference between male castanics and the females.
http://gomakemeasandwich.wordpress.com/2011/06/14/tera-followup-no-male-castanics-are-not-as-bad-lots-of-pictures/
Other korean MMO’s you actually DON’T have to dress this way, I never showed this much skin in say… AION, or Vindictus for that matter unless I WANTED to with a female character, and I’m ignorant of AION because I simply didn’t play that one. Unfortunately one of my female friends is actually extremely turned off to this game because of it. Her biggest question to me? “Where are my pants?” (I googled “tera can I get some pants” and that post I linked above is what I found)
The fact there is a demand doesn’t mean anything, the demand is primarily from male players, with a minority of females. It doesn’t make or break the game for me personally, but it’s a little annoying when putting male and female versions of the same armor side by side and the women get a “breast plate” in a very literal sense, some crotch armor, and thigh high boots, and the men gets a full set of body covering armor.
There is nothing wrong with skimpy armor, the problem is that nowhere is the option to have armor that is NOT skimpy. Some people like to undress their girls, some girls like to dress up like a tank, that’s just how it goes. If people want to do it that’s fine, there just should be an option to wear armor that isn’t revealing as well.
Ignorant of lineage 2* not Aion.
the problem im having with the way this game is shaping up is the real lack of story yeah it looks great but if you don’t have a kick ass story to go along with it all your left with is a game you’ll be bored with no real sustainability that’s why im loving swtor right now the story is just so engaging
this is just not a game im willing to invest my time in
When I saw DAT ASS face I fucking laughed my ass off
Joe,
I love your site, but I had to turn off the impressions video after minutes of nothing but you drooling over the female models. Maybe you can’t understand why women bitch about the objectification, but it’s annoying as all hell from the other side and tells me absolutely NOTHING useful about the game.
I look forward to the next review
(And for what it’s worth, I don’t object to the anime girl. Not my fave, but I get it’s an anime trope)
im sure he can understand
men see women as sex objects, women see men as success objects. its only been that way a few hundred thousand years.
“why women bitch about the objectification” – no comment!
this game is perv-fect
The problem for me has been the grind. Also, I dislike the fact you get rooted on the spot. I also think the combat might become tedious with all the grind, much how action adventure games can turn out when they fail to deliver on a good story. What I mean is that you will get tired of doing the same attack, attack, big attack, dodge, and so on. Without a ground sense of puprose, just running around hunting “!” and “?” is going to get old. Let’s face it, the story is… rather lame.
It also reminds me a lot of Rift. The graphic style is pretty much a straight off copy.
For me GW2 and The Secret World are far more interesting prospects. As I have 2 level50s(jedi guardian and Vanguard) and a few lvl30-40(Scoundrel, Merc and Sniper) in SWTOR it is pretty much on its last legs. So far the Imperial Agent story has been the most fun with the Trooper being a close second.
So yeah, while the action combat is nice but regressing back to WoW/Lineage questgrind is unacceptable. I’ll stick with SWTOR till GW2 and TSW.
skip to 5:38 for jiggle physics
To be honest just cause you can take on some one 2 levels above you i aint impressed that is possible in all mmos with 20 levels +
You Should have played POTBS pre 2009, now that was level balance i was level 25 and took on level 50s and won back then when it was balanced. its a shame that they revamped avatar combat and made it into another WoW copy instead of a awesome combat system that was all about timing and countering the other guys moves.
and yeah ive seen this combat system before in hellgate london, its just that hellgate london was to small for its own good.
Looks interesting definatly this one. Too bad its pay to play, witch makes it it No-Go for me personally. Though you should take a look @ C9 (Continent fo the Ninth Seal) http://c9.webzen.com/VIP/ witch will go open tomorrow (28th february). Combat system is basically the same and best of all, its free to play. Mayby Joe could make a short review of it after its release.
Cheers.
My SWToR guy is also lvl 23 or so and has been so for 1-2 months, I just can’t get myself to play it,
I played in the ‘sneak peak’ weekend and reached level 21 in that weekend with the Berserker class. It’s true that it’s one of the best looking games out there and the combat system is fun (at first), but that’s about it innovation wise. Once you reach level 20 it is starting to feel grindy, because almost all quests are kill 10 rats like, or deliver something. Also, although the world looks beautiful it feels a bit stale, because apart from the standard quest hubs where npcs stand around a campfire handig out quests when you’re the appropriate level, there aren’t any things to find if you go off the beaten path. The story was also very generic and the quests texts aren’t very well-written either (it’s the level of writing you see in f2p mmo’s). So I will wait for GW2, because GW2 does have a world where you can find interesting stuff if you go out and explore (they have treasures and secret dungeons you van find) and a lot of other innovations and also has actiony like combat where you can cast while moving and dodge attacks.
Also, Joe, I believe you forgot one MMO: The Secret World has also numerous innovations and might be worth checking out as well: no classes, puzzle quests where you have to use the internet to find clues, a unique setting and also a kind of hybrid action MMO combat sytem where you can cast while moving and you have targeted and non-targeted attacks and much more that I forgot.
This game looks great. I really dislike WoW and its army of mediocre clones. However, I’m not getting into any MMO until they make the Mass Effect MMO. I mean, it’s gonna happen.
Hello, my name is SWTOR, i’m not in the same mythos but the same people who made Mass Effect made me, so as far as gameplay, I’m how it would turn out.
Still no mention of vindictus, which did the action MMO thing a while ago, but it’s more of an instanced world, but it’s still pretty amazing, especially the later boss battles.
Thanks for the sneak peek Joe! I’ve been looking forward to this game for a while.
From what i hear though is i don’t think you will enjoy GW2 as much as Tera. First not saying GW2 is a bad game or lesser than Tera but here my view. GW2 has its innovation in quest and gear progression, now to anyone that play a lot of mmorpg thats huge change. But to people who don’t normally play mmorpg well to them it still feel the same. While Tera change the combat system which is more noticable to player who normally don’t play mmorpg, possibly drawing fans of action combat or fps game to it.
Looks really good! A friend of mine has talked alot about this game too, and he really likes the combat system.
AJ, didn’t you receive any invitation to the Beta test of GW2. Shame that’d be some preview.
Nevertheless never heard of this before this video.
Looks marvelous, and no I ain’t hinting toward the fine ladies, because they’d may have overdone it there. Still I’ve seen my share of members of the MMO community running around naked sort of/ with their panties and bikini for the ladies. So the only exception that I may consider it going to far is the childish looking race. Even cute… could’ve used more clothes.
Also I’m merely an avid MMO player, the only difference is GW because of it’s free subscription. And what a game that’ll be.
even if he got an invitation he wouldn’t be allowed to preview it. participants in the Guild Wars 2 beta have to sign a non disclosure agreement
GW2 has a heavy NDA along with the beta. So even if he got one he couldn’t really show you anything.
There was a lot of websites on the beta this weekend that have been making videos like crazy. Just check out BlueXephos and TotalHalibut on YouTube as examples.
This game seriously reminds me of Dragon Nest with more variety and better visuals. If you like this combat, try out Dragon Nest from Nexon. On my blog, I did a review of it: with_mayhem.xanga.com
Should be wth_mayhem.xanga.com. Damn Mac!!! Hahah
Later
Joe the official page says you can play with a controller, can you use your 360 pad a little bit and tell us how does it work for this game?
Never heard of this, but I must say, yeah it looks really good. But the “sexy” females is a waaaaay too much. I like to see sexy women, do not get me wrong, but letting the females look like hookers preparing for the night is playing the “WE WANTZ ALL ZE NERDZ” card way to heavy.
Problem is that looks are not everything. Balancing seems to be tricky with this hughe amount of Classes. It is way to early to say, but it seems the lancer class will be useless in PVP where movability is key.
The Politics stuff seems…strange. I think it is a nice idea but, like in every other MMO, you will have your large guilds which will run for “mayor” and you need to take it.
From what I saw now, the Graphics are awesome but the rest seems not to fit my taste. But I have to say, I thought the same about SWTOR and now I like it very much. I will keep it on my radar, but as my friends are all playing SWTOR now, I think i will stay a bounty hunter
Actually lancers are probably high up there in PvP. They have 2 “gap closers” but their trademark skill is a chain that they use to bring people to them. Note that the meaningful PvP is done in groups and lancer’s ability to stun or make people not be in a good spot make him a beast.
About the politics. There are multiple provinces you can control (heard 18) making a scenario where one guild dominates very unlikely. The exact power the ruler has is not yet fully known but things like setting taxes and running events are in.
You’re wrong sir. Lancer is badass in PVP. Until you don’t try it , don’t say anything that could be wrong.
Anyway , I hope you’ll try out the game one way or another so you can have a deeper opinion.
This guys claiming to be straight complaining about how sexy a woman looks? You’re not fooling us buddy.
Yea, it’s certainly not games like this that will make gaming as an art form any more respected.
“HEY LONELY HORNY GUYS!! WE GOT MORE SLUTS FOR YOU TO PLAY AS!!!!!”
zzz, I suppose low-life womanizers will find that to be an amazing reason to play it, but it’s the video-game equivalent of McDonalds food. Will it appeal to the masses? Yea. Is it of any respectable quality? Nope.
angry joe i can tell you right now that sens of the elin race this game is not gonna be sold in sweden sens overhere child porn = any underaged looking girl in a sexual pose, dosen’t matter if it animated
i can tell you right now the DCUO was not sold and is not on steam here sens if you take the smallest body type it is considerd as looking as a minor and therefor iligal sens you can do sexual poses within the game
Stop talking out of your ass, I got DCUO and I live in Sweden, also the word you’re looking for is SINCE not SENS.
I don’t know about this one.
What I liked: actions gamepley looks solid, graphics look nice.
What I didn’t like: The Female character models are just too much*, pedo bunny girl race, WoW and SWTOR like UI for an action mmo, i heard the word grind, the world doesnt look to invilving to me, questing system.
* When I say too much :. Sometimes people want to make a sexy character. But, there doesnt seem to be a choice to make them just not stripper calibur cloths. When all the females are all like Models wearing pikinis it kinda kill sthe immersion and also seems alittle off putting when lookign at the developer. With how the female models look it seems they took high priority on giving male players boners while playing with the design of the gear. Also makes Soul Calibur seem tame in comparison.
I will keep a glancing eye on it when it comes out, to see what kind of a spash it makes. But it hasnt’ caught my interest yet.
Of course i could be completely byast to Guild Wars 2 because i have been following it for years now in its development. I’m trying to judge this game fairly and it does have some good parts I can see in this video, but there is a lot more I would need to see to make much of a real opinion about it.
Did u know the devs actually textured nipples and vagina in this game?
It’s true. At least in the original Korean release. Not sure if they ‘patched’ it for NA.
Tera seems really awesome. I really laugh at all the controversy this game is getting. Sure the Elin is pretty risqué, but no one is forcing you to play them. I watch a lot of anime and I see way worse stuff on a daily basis, so it doesn’t bother me. It’s a cultural thing people.
I am only worried that both Tera and GW2 will require a lot of machine power to run properly without having to lower the quality to the uglies.
