SFxT DLC Character Pricing Announced
Capcom has announced the pricing for their upcoming DLC in Street Fighter X Tekken. See how much you will be paying to unlock your characters.
First Up, Releasing on April 3rd, are the Costume Packs and Color Palette Swaps:
A few weeks afterwards you get more gems and tournament improvements:
Finally, coming “soon” after the Sony PSVita Version (6 months or so?), your 12 Locked characters can be unlocked for the low low price of only $20!
No Brelston, we werent worried so much about the cost as we were about already having PAID FOR THE CHARACTERS THAT ARE ON THE DAMN DISC!
Brelston addresses these cost concerns upfront because previously Capcom had priced characters at $3 each, which would have came out to an additional $36 on top of your $60 for all 12 characters, that’s a ridiculous total of $96 for the “complete” Street Fighter x Tekken. Now it’s “only” going to cost you $80. Up that another $12-20 if you want the costume packs, so $100. Gee, thanks considering we already paid for this content once (both on the disc). WHAT. A. STEAL!
Finally, you have to consider that the cost really is $40, not $20. If the PSVita didn’t exist that is. That version gets the additional 12 characters for free for the $39.99 Vita Game. It’s for reasons like this that I’m more likely to HATE the Vita than buy one.
Morality issues aside, $20 for 12 Characters is a pretty good deal. However, I think the new pricing has more to do with the recent uproar and the Vita version than anything else. So I like to think this happened because of our push back.

This is just depressing. I’ve never bought costumes for characters before, and I don’t want to start. I enjoy playing the game but having to buy costumes that are already on the disk?
They should just change their name to Scamcom
This is dumb, “Disc Locked Content.” For real?
Capcom you have lost a fan and my money. Even though I have a PSVita I won’t buy this or any other fighter game because they all have this corporate BS crap. Ill save my money and buy older games that I passed up instead.
Its gonna be the same shit wit txsf. Jus look at wat Namco did to SCV and thr dlc, all those costume packs which only hav about 3 new items with each purchase. I knw I counted, thr goin for 1.99 & 2.99 for basically 1, 2 or 3 add ons whch is way to much if you ask me. Thn to add one one extra character its 4.99! Boi dnt they kill us wit dat shit. So Namcos Math is 5po +10ex (free if preordered for extra character) + 60 Gp + dlc 25 = 100 thous far. I’m pretty sure they aint fin either thr will be more costy add ons to come, trust me. Oh and this isn’t including the music dat thr for purchase too, but only a fool would buy those rght? Lol anyways this shit has to stop, its suckin the fun rght out of video games
Hmp. If I bought 3 games with a pricing like that it would be half of my rent money lol. Your right, Capcom is famous for the remixes and rerelease of there games. Hey, you’ve already got millions why not just take your time and complete the game before the release date. Stop all that super hyper ultimate gold shit. Your killing gamers out here lol got people thinking they got everything then you go and hit em with somemore shit. I mean make a lil profit but damn don’t take all the money out of our pockets and wallets over some stuff you ddnt finish. I dnt get why they do that. Hey Mr. 100th poster. Go in on CrapCom for there Bullshit. Make me proud lol
All the Gaming Companies who makes moves lik this Really need a Stainless Steel Shaq Size SteelToe Boot in thr A**! Wateva hapnd to the Good Old Days? You kwn, Fin the Game & Unlock your Special Characters & Hidden Stages and things lik dat. I Hate how things are Now! God Damn it if I Spent 60 Bucks on a Game dat B*tch better be Complete! Sometimes dat DLC Biz is jus Otter Bs wit the Prices whch is wat Pisses Ppl Off. They can Easily rake in 100+ off of you if your Not Lookin. 1st it begins wit the Pre-Orders and so said Exclusives whch is already a “Want More Pay More ” situation, thn thrs the Game & DLC. The Math: 5 Pre-Order + 10 Exclusives + 60 Game Purchase + DLC 25 + 20 = 120 in this Case. Even without the Exclusives its still Painfull! So Heres an Idea for you Comps, how about you “SELL THE WHLOE F*CKIN GAME!!!!” Stop Rippin Ppl Off you F*cks! We’ll wait for the Finished Product, Stop Rushin the Market wit HalfA**ed Games & givin yourselves a Bad Rap you F*ckin Fools. Go bck to the Old Sch way or be Fair in the DLC Pricin Department Sheesh!
Capcom, damn scumbags!!!
For me Fighting games are about online experience, taking a friend or someone else.
Like of most, I bought SFIV, SSFIV and MVC3; hoping to get the most out of every franchise. But then they released SSFIV AE and UMVC3. The games I owned were useless by then, I had enough of these “improved versions” of having more arenas and few other characters for an extra 40 dollars. Apparently this “hook” tactic were you get carried all the way until you don’t have another penny is now translated to a disc that unlocks with your money as Capcom convinently thinks.
In my opinion the only way that us, players, can really deliver a blow to this practice is either not buying the product or getting it with at a very low price or buying a used copy. Companies that get hurt on their sales report are more likely to come with other practices, but if they see that with this little effort to improve are loved franchises they can get away with our money, then our fault it’s to support this system. I love Capcom games but one thing it’s to support a really good game and another different to pour all your money in supporting the very practice we hate.
Capcom paid around 40,000 (since that is what some PR says they pay to developers for game and patches to make) to the develop team to make the game. The game was completed, but since its capcom’s money… capcom force the developers to lock characters, colors, customs, and gems.
Megaman and pac-man were not in the exclusive free deal, they were going to be charge as the other characters dlc (that is why both were lock in the first place). But since many people complained about the 12 characters, capcom decided to make megaman and pacman “free” just to see if people calm down and buy their product.
Capcom’s sales still poor, so now they make colors and gems “free” just to see if the sales goes up. It did not worked neither.
I know many people are waiting for customs and characters for free, but trust me… is not going to happen since the characters are one of the most important thing in a fighting game (the other is gameplay balance). They are not going to do it, that way will force desperate people to buy it and give up to the temptation.
If you think Capcom made this game and the DLC apart, you are completely wrong. Everything was made by the same team under one check and contract. Plus they save lots of money on testers, they used the same people to see if they find glitches while playing the game normally. That is why you see glitches that affect gameplay on-line and off-line.
Technically capcom divided your game 1/3 out of it. You pay for 2/3 of a game, and you have to pay the other part that was cut ON-PURPOSE in order for CAPCOM to get extra cash. I hope you have a lot of milk, because Capcom and many other companies will suck and squeeze your udder until you get completely dry without a single drop left.
I agree when you say the costs is due to our pushback. If Capcom didn’t realize people were beyond pissed, I’m sure they would of released them in overpriced packs. (Alisa x Lars/Sakura x Blanka) (Cody x Guy/Bryan x Jack) (Lei x Christie/Dudley x Elena) judging from their rival battles.
I do agree with what you are saying Joe. It is so absurd IT PISSES ME OFF!!! I see no other companies doing this bull$#!* and Capcom thinks that they can do this to their fans!? Iam a capcom fan and I was so infuriated when i read about the characters on the disc that gave up. Capcom in my opinion is digging its own grave.
Oh and its just plain shity that vita owners get a full game while console owners get the shaft. still not getting a vita. least not till gravity rush and by then i might be able to get it used…
Ok. I’ll bet at least 50 bucks that there’s not going to be another version of Street Fighter X Tekken coming out. The Disk locked characters are there to make sure this shit doesn’t happen again. Trust me, Capcom knows how pissed off we were with UMvC3. why the hell do you think they gave out a FREE (let’s spell it out. F.R.E.E.) DLC Mode called Heroes and Heralds, just for shits and giggles?
P.S. Tekken X Street Fighter DOESN’T COUNT. It’s Namco…NAM-CO. Not…CAP-COM. …idiots.
How about you look at the names on the case or start up screen before you post something stupid? I don’t see Namco’s name anywhere. They might’ve given rights to Capcom to use the Tekken characters but its still a Capcom game. Hence the stupid DLC bullshit and Street Fighter control scheme. And the play style of MvC. Way better than that piece of trash though. Learn your shit before you post and make an ass of yourself. Dumbass.
No dude YOU need to learn how to read. He clearly said tekken x street fighter, NOT street fighter x tekken. I’m not trolling, it’s a different game, developed by Namco. NAM-CO.
None of this matters Joe.
6-12 months from now we’re going to get Street Fighter x Tekken: Super EX Tournament Edition Alpha +9-and-a-half, with all of this stuff included already.
SFxT is a drink coaster, the first of at least two given Capcom’s record.
BYE
terrible business practices by capcom . bet they will probably make an super Street fighter v tekken with all the DLC characters later in the year for a cheaper price .
I agree. I got burned with Street Fighter IV (bought Super Street Fighter IV) & later with MvC3 (refused to buy the “grand fubah edition, or whatever). I’ll simply wait this one out.
Amen bro, exact same thing happened to me
And yet still no El Fuerte.
What a bunch of balls.
It’s sad because people are definitely going to the DLC, and Capcom will probably come out with Super Street Fighter X Tekken.
Going to buy*.
You guy’s remember the times when we used to unlock this kind of stuff by playing the game? Good times.
You wanna know the real reason for Capcom’s business practices. As a matter fact why are a lot of gaming companies holding back core content that should be on the disc ratther than DLC? I tell ya why. It is because of the gamers who don’t treat their games with some kind of value! Do you have any idea of how many tunnel-visioned gamers there are whose only concern is beating their games just so they could trade them in? The companies are not making money because of this. People just think that they could pay for a used game play with it for about a week and just trade them in to get their money back. This starts this neverending circle of trading and obtaining newer games. Game stores end up giving away “money” rather than obtaining it because of these trade-ins. Then when DLC came to town, everything changed. Sure at first gamers could enjoy some extra tidbits from the DLC but they were not going to give up their insatiable habit of trade-ins. Now the companies feel that they should take away key aspects of our games (characters, stages, weapons, etc….) just so they could actually gain profits. And what makes things worse is that certain games after a certain period get released again but with all the DLC included. Look guys I’m not a supporter of the gaming industry’s actions because yes it is both morally wrong and becoming more untrustworthy to the fans. But I have to point out that it is the gamer who is the byproduct of the company’s greed. We as the gaming community created this issue and plus we make it worse by going along with it. I bet 10 to 1 that most of us SF X T players are going to be willing to spend the $33.00 on the DLC because we want the full potential experience of the game we bought. You see, it is us. We went from trading in some of the stash to forking over more cash!
P.S. I would also like to say that the “just that simple” guy who supports Capcom’s business strategies does not seem to get it. Let me break it down so even you could understand. If you payed $60 for a product do you expect that you have purchased this product and all of the contents contained in said product. All accessories are not included my good friend just the core portions of the product. If that is so, do you think that after spending that kind of cash any parts of your purchase should be locked away and that those parts which make the core of your product should cost extra. I believe the answer is obvious.
Heres a thought for those who are for capcom doing this, which isnt many thank god. I purchased the game i like it, but to play an extra 12 characters already on the disc i have to pay $20, ok say i purchase this ‘dlc’ then i go to my cousins house who already has a ps3, i take the game with me but to play those extra characters i have to pay another $20 on a different account? And what if my ps3 gets the ylod and i purchase a new slim ps3, do i have pay another $20 for those same characters that are already on the DISC!
Fuck you capcom and i hope you go bankrupt!!!
your argument is invalid. you can have any one dlc item on a total of 5 ps3 at one given point unless its playstation plus content, that is restriced to 2 ps3′s. on your brothers ps3, make a new user, sign on to your acount, go to your download list, there ya go, all your stuff. but yes fuck capcom, big time. if you want to help make a difference go to this link and follow the steps to file a complaint. if this site catches a pattern of ppl bitching about this bullshit, they may be able to do something about it. when doing said complaint, you dont need to put your address or phone number when it asks if your not cool with it. http://www.econsumer.gov/english/report/overview.shtm
They’ve since dropped that number to two for all accounts I believe.
I agree with you both though! Mother fuck capcom!
not many?
i’m sorry but i’m a capcom supporter and i am convinced that we’re in fact the majority. why? because we’re too busy not giving a fuck about it.
no, i’m not some evil corporate supporter but what you have to understand is the following reasoning behind it:
do you think the game is worth 60$? if yes, buy the game. if not, don’t. it’s just that simple.
we can talk about morality all day long or we can just play the game and have fun. my priority is having fun.
do you think the 12 character DLC is worth 20$? if yes, buy it. if not, don’t. again, it’s that simple.
of course i’m not happy with the route capcom has taken but it’s far from being as apocalyptic as people trying to picture it.
in the end, it’s just you and your wallet and as long as you’re satisfied with your purchase, there is no point in mindlessly hating a company for doing it’s job (which is to making money).
criticism is fine.
extremism, on the other hand, is not.
I’d like to look at this from a pragmatic, economic point of view… I’m not spending $20 on a bit of data used to make other bits of data on a disc available, especially when I already paid for said bits of data once before. It’s bad economics.
It’s not “that simple”. These are games that we grew up with. Games that made us love this hobby and made us gamers. If we stopped buying games they would have to stop making them all together. This isn’t happening to other mediums. Replace videogames with movies or books and tell me if that crap would fly. What if u bought a car and u paid full price but u find out later that the reason why ur windshield wipers and radio don’t work is because it’s locked and u have to pay for it. u don’t really need them but u thought u paid for that when u bough the thing. I guess u get what u paid for isn’t true anymore. Anyway, i’m turning in my copy for a game that has content on the disc that i can actually play. What a concept huh?
This is just wrong, capcom do this all the time! I dont want 3 copies of the same game with minor adjustments!!!!
We all need to let capcom know how we feel and abuse them at the heart, ie their feedback email address, lets show them how many of us are angry!
ANYONE TRYING TO MAKE A CHANGE. it may or may not work but if enoguh of us file a complain at this link i will provide at the end, there is a chance we coudl really make something happen here. in a perfect world, this kind of scum bag practice would be illegalized. its not about the characters for me any more. this should not be legal! here is the link. please follow the steps and stop this BS!

Well well
Another reason for me to not buy the vita anywhere near the launch. Just what I needed.
Aaaaand i just managed to convince my five tekken playing friends that we aint buying the SFXT.
All of us never really liked the capcom games but are hardcoare tekken players. We will skip this one and see what happends with Tekken X streeet fighter that namco will make.
Might pic it up used in the future. we’ll see.
its not the vita’s fault this bullshit is happening. buying a vita on the first day doesnt help capcom so i would go ahead n get it when you like, no worries man. but avoiding the game is a good call. *highfive*
