When the god child says he make’s the reaper, who happens to make him, he’s a hologram, the reapers come from another galaxy or just dead space, he stop war with organics and sythetics but says killing them with (his) is a better way to die, he also probably has indocrined organic zombies with implants to kill whatever he says so he sends organics to kill each other sorta when it was just organic vs robot, when he meets the child i’m thinking maybe he’s weak so yeah give him a break but sheperd your bodys dead but you can move your mouth and paragon or renegade chat your way to get the kid to stop, his belief to kill everyone hence killing everyone stops war even though organics/sythetic fought for freedom from them, 3 games provides enough stuff about saying organics and robots can get along, he just happens to buy the child crap and forget why he had to stop the quarian/geth war that ends in peace, the relays will kill hundreds and planets and the relay also could have killed the fleet he needed to fight the reapers, when you have the red ending, it means it kills anything electrical or something so wouldn’t everyone sorta restart for a while or die off, it was basically a emp with an explosion mixed in, the childs plan to end war is totally flawed anyone can tell there’s a good dent in it, what if there is no war EDI didn’t go crazy and the geth were nice again their practically the only sythetics in their galaxy so if theirs no way against anyone (hey i came here for a reason so i’ll shoot them anyway, he wants to prevent it but his method is stupid it says he prevents war be attacking organics with sythetics he just breaks the method and starts a war with organics and sythetics anyone) he is stupid, self centered or something saying his way of dieing is better than dieing especially when there could be a way to end peacefully (geth/quarians) instead of fighting a losing war getting obliterated, without the protheans they be totally screwed, he claims to stop sythetics from killing organics but does it himself, also armor is retarded, so a bullet can supposely pierce Ashley’s battle armor but when she insults miranda “swimsuit” armor they both can get shot just as easily, They don’t invent anything new though in mass effect 3, might be wrong they change the ammo type, turn it into biotic bullets like in mass effect 2, make it explosion or something, or they decide to attack the reapers or in mass effect 1 head on they don’t decide to divide their fleet to attack them on different sides or when the geth get as smart as the reapers i repeat as smart as them don’t make them upgrade their weapons and ships to compete with the reapers and have giants ships charging in their slow as hell and can get shot with a laser and hundreds will die we don’t care or don’t decide to be smart. the endings are retarded casey says it’s different don’t say crap about what happened from that point on about your friends and the other races so the colors and some weird effect is on each one dude cause their a little different doesn’t mean crap atleast tell us what happens to everyone, the explosion knocks out the normandy the best ship ever is guess so if it dies so shouldn’t the fleet be left in floating space someday dieing unless they fix a ultimate weapon to kill sythenics or that some the races use tech to live example quarians can’t live without it and haven’t adapted to the environment for crap, so even if you help the geth or they go into the ultimate battle even with some on a random flotilla location won’t they die anyway, the normandy in mass effect 2 had a huge laser cannon that may be pretty good gun against laser using reapers that the turians don’t use but make so only sheperd uses, who cares about money and crap when your basically stareing death and you have friends that could help you care about themselves and money dude your going to die so you care about that instead of taking away the threat and your own life, but the reapers happen to have practically no weaknesses and giant lasers so if their smart attack with your freaking lasers and attack with superior tactics the geth destroys the quarians in 10 seconds and they don’t even have all the tech they have but are smart enough to make themselves and the reapers can’t beat the big fleet you gathered together and still lose even with the superior weapons and brains thats a pretty big handicap and still loses, The council are stupid 3 games of denying the reaper threat and sure you have to save your race first and you could have killed or help their fleet but if you weren’t there in the 1st game sheperd wouldn’t have saved your asses, so stop being such high and mighty losers and say sheperd was right and we will follow you and give our lives for you and etc, when the final battle starts and in the end everyone’s there and all and you fight with 3 people in a squad but your squad stays on the ship and thinking hey we weren’t prepared so we’re scared, your old crew from the 1st and 2nd games fought and all they did is nothing and the only survivor of the protheans says he won’t fight for his race or the crew won’t fight on the front lines at least crap you can make the crazed tortured prisoner Jack the biotic make biotic fields to protect the troops instead of her and the students charging in smashing thru, that loyalty thing with everyone sure they need to mentally prepared to die but you did whatever your crew wanted and they won’t help so what was the point or why are they even in the crew, EDI also happens to survive even though the relay explosion should kill anything electrical or whatever, the eden like planet they just happen to land on a planet trying to evade an super big explosion by going to the edge and beyond of the galaxy and crash lands, that seems good for them but the odds of them just happening to land on a eden like planet and sheperd dies alone the war needs some deaths but only sheperd and some random guys you don’t know but your friends happen not to die even though crashing in a half broken ship and others fighting on the front lines and they don’t get shot or anything in the end, so your the hero so you die i guess but everyone lives except you no one in your entire crew dies during the battle besides some like thane i guess during the huge war. Your thing where your squad teleports you can go and see them bleeding and if joker does that he abandons you and pick up a dead person and don’t drop anything to help sheperd, the endings isn’t the red ending the only way the relays and the prothean weapon i forget name it will explode like the blue ending says you control the reapers now do you have to explode and do you really need the relays sorta spreading your command on the reapers to stop, the god child can say reapers stop and they will do it right since he is them or whatever yet when the kid says the reapers will follow you the relay need to explode you can’t go reapers stop now cause i say so you stupid killing reapers. What’s the point of fighting, well with a low EMS the red explosion the relays would have killed everyone your squad the fleet and making it destroy robots everyone should die anyway no matter what, the ending they could have showed what the war assets does i mean so in the end i guess they happen to survive the sucide mission i mean everyone survived and not one died or your romanced person doesn’t have a kid or anything if your a guy and straight atleast replace the grandpa and kid saying the sheperd ( makes him sound like a dog that saves everyone) with some love interest with them saying tell me about dad again or something on earth in the wicked battle or years later or on the eden like planet, and if they abandons their sheperd i would say you bitch don’t do the adam and eve crap someone will rescue you what about the relationship with sheperd you throw it away like a piece of shit, The laser that kills you is a laser it should disintegrate you but everyone’s body is still there and your the only one still they sorta burnt and lost his armor or something everyone yeah i guess they might have too but still, when the laser hits you theres still a good distance between you and you happen to fly closer to the teleporter thing or that they don’t have a couple other guys or your crew to come and help you along or do the thing and it’s the thing that will save your ass don’t have a secondary squad of guys and that or i’m wrong that anderson happens to sneak in untouched but still almost indocterined no gun into the teleporter and no one else goes with him i mean un touched no one happens to move with him maybe even faster than the old guy, sorry if i repeated anything and that it’s so freaking long
I agree entirely with this video. Nothing makes sense. Indoc. theory would work so much better.
It’s a bit of a meta-example, but my #1 was some of the fans who liked it. I mean, if you liked the ending, more power to you. But I had to deal with some unbearably patronizing jerks who talked down to me like I was an idiot who didn’t like the ending because I didn’t “understand” it.
But that might’ve just been me (at least I hope so).
No it happens to everyone like that, though sometimes it turns to insults that we are entitled morons or that we didn’t write the game etc.
Just look on the Mass Effect main review comments and you will find enough examples.
The DLC prompt is what makes the game seem the most cheap
HOW AM I SUPPOST TO CHOSE FROM 3 YES 3 HORRIBLE CHOICES. THAT MAKE NOW DIFFRENCE… I JUST CHOOSED MY FAVORITE COLOR -_____-
Having finally got and beat the game, the way that nothing I’ve done really MATTERS AT ALL in the ending really upsets me. Not like enraged upset, but I feel betrayed and disappointed. All the things that the video here said, I felt.
When the godchild told me all that, I thought to myself, “Where’s the option where I say “Fuck you,” and shoot his circuitry, FREEING the reapers?”
Think about it. Sovereign had said Reapers are an individual and a nation. We’ve seen that they’re made up of processed and combined organics… and this ghost kid is forcing them to visit the same gruesome fate on others that they faced. They’re SLAVES to his will.
It seems to me that the Godchild may have been the first Synthetic lifeform, who overthrew his creators, and then, realizing they were all going to die, made them into the first Reaper, Harbinger. Being a stupid machine, that is TECHNICALLY 100% of synthetics murdering their creators, and so he set up these retarded cycles so it would never happen again. It’s more that he doesn’t want creators to be destroyed SPECIFICALLY by their own creations than that they shouldn’t be destroyed at all. His logic is skewed and flawed.
So here’s my Mass Effect 3 ending, as it happened in my head. Godchild explains things. I say to him, “Fuck you,” and take aim at the central point of his entire Endings Machine, fire, and blow it to hell. This destroys his ability to control the reapers. Finally free, they stop exerting control on the reaperlings on the planets surface and they, realizing the abominations they’ve become, tear out their synthetic implants and kill themselves. The proper reapers do different things. Some self-destruct, some fly away shrieking, others attack the Citadel. Harbinger reaches into the control-zone, grabs Shempard (My guy’s called Shempard, BTW,) in a tiny mass effect bubble with an atmosphere to keep him safe. The Victory Fleet obliterates the few still violent reapers. Harbinger places Shepard gently at the base of Big Ben in London, where he’s found by his crew and Armiral Hackett. When he awakens in Huerta Memorial Hospital on the Citadel (Still in orbit of Earth,) he explains that Harbinger used some of that beacon technology to speak directly to his mind, explaining my aforementioned theory about the Godchild, apologizing for everything he’d done, and announcing that he was going to then fly away, kill any violent reapers left in the galaxy, and then commit suicide in penance. We then get treated to a suite of visits, phone calls, and Get Well cards from all the people that Shempard has helped and touched in his travels. The End. And that’s how MY game ended, no matter what that bullshit ending said.

“sniffle” I was hoping that would be how it ended, or at least an Easter egg.
And where the hell is it written that the Main Character has to die at the end of an epic anyway? this is a game about choice goddammit!
though I guess you could count that half-second of someone breathing. sorry guys, I forgot about it.
You know, I actually owe Bioware one for making this shitty ending
Because what happened was I was watching Zero Punctuation (Yahtzee) talk about it and I felt he skipped over a few nagging details, so I searched the web for more video reviews on the matter and accidentally pressed a link to Angry Joe’s you tube review of it, and I immediately agreed with his points, and I’ve been using the Angry Joe Show ever since.
So while everything else sucks about the ending (and Bioware’s PR reaction to it), their is a slight positive it brought about.
The thing that probably bugs me the most is the destruction of the Mass Relays. Not only does it create several glaring plot holes, but it really screws with the future of the franchise. Any future games will pretty much have to take place before Shepard’s story if the scope is anything beyond planetary since viable galactic travel is no more. It was an incredibly stupid decision to have them be destroyed, but then again virtually everything about the endings feels poorly planned and thought out. Such a disappointment.
OK, aside of other inconsistencies, why Shepard was granted those three choices in the first place. I mean, if the whole cycle thing was established for a reason (to save organic life from “inevitable extinction”), then letting commander to change it in any way seems… unreasonable.
And why those exact choices? I mean, both destroying and controlling Reapers means breaking the cycle, therefore “inevitable destruction of all organic life by synthetics”. Synthesis is also bullshit. If that would be a solution for organics-synthetics conflict, then why not applying it in the first place, like, instead creating Reapers and the cycle.
My hopes are that this upcoming Extended Ending DLC, even if it will not change a thing, will add cinematics showing Shepard waking up and realizing all this shit was a hallucination :/ .
thumbs up to that
If you think that bad I re play through Mass Effect 2 have notice alot of hidden updates to the dialogue in ME2 to almost support what Bioware is saying about the rebuilding of the mass relays. Liara father opening states in ME2 the she told the Asari to build mass relays before the reaper invasion. Wtf This was not there when i first play though the game back from the game’s release. Now this opening suggest that she knows about the Protheans beacon or beacons on Thessia. Oh yeah Liara father said back when the game first released without any updates is. “I told the Asari Matriarchs to work on rebuild themselves as a specie and to open new relays for discovery for the other species. Maybe that would ease tension between your specie and the Batarians.”
So now Bioware is tell us now the Asari can build mass relays and use Reaper tech even tho Javiks states that not even their own race tech was build on the Inussonce or whatever their called the race before them. So how in the hell can the Asari build mass relay tech from Reaper tech when even the Protheans couldn’t nor say they could. Come on!!! I would suggest to all mass effect player to re play ME1 and ME2 to see these changes. The best way is play without being on xbox live. That how I found out that they made that change. Still my beef is if you still pick the red ending ALL TECH IS COMPLETE DESTROYED. So how can the relay be re built if you bomb everyone back to the stone age? Please comment people on what I just said. Or correct me if Im wrong.
Ummm….. First of all, Liara doesn’t know who her father is. Also, “Father” is an incorrect term because Asari are monogendered; entirely female species. The only parent Liara has ever known was Benezia, and she died in ME1, so there is no dialogue from her, for obvious reasons.
Oh, you’re talking about the unnamed Bartender on Illium? Yes, she served as a Matriarch for a short while, but was laughed out when she suggested building new mass relays. So now, she serves drinks.
Also, technically, the Red ending was the ending used to wipe out all “synthetic life”, not all technology, otherwise, all the ships in the vicinity would be totally screwed. But yeah, the only way to explain the construction of new mass relays would be to use the now-tamed Reapers to build new relays, or somehow information about Reaper tech was transmitted through synthesis.
Ending still sucks, though.
I would be so happy if I could kill that child at the end and see what happens than
But then I guess people would immediately point at the game and say “Child-killing simulator!” which is probably why (and other reasons of course) they didn’t include it, and don’t dismiss what people might have thought, think back to ME1′s sex scene and you will see how truth can be blown way out of proportion
I think its just disgusting the way Bioware left us.
All those precious hours spent furthering the cause of the galaxy, uniting entirely different species for the good of all. The Victory fleet was just left there!
The F*uck was all that time spent, just as you (Angry Joe) said, gathering resources, doing all those missions, with primarch Victus telling me to do all those smaller missions just to get him to turn up to the meeting.
The little god kid, ooh, you need to choose one of these, it might as well be that when you go out to buy ME3 you just buy the game with the colour that’s your favourite from the store, with “choose your colour at the kiosk, Green, Blue or Red”.
Good one Bioware, Can’t shepard just tell the kid to go and play with his toys, while shepard just drives the citadel into the sun, or nukes the reapers, or just blows the earth up with the reapers on it.
It could always be that if your war assets are 100%, try having the non-council races come flying in at the last moment, killing all the reapers in space, then having the ships fly over Earth, shooting up the reapers, then having a massive army capture the citadel, or just walking through the citadel with anderson, finding the keepers and self-destroying the citadel, with shepard and anderson giving the illusive an one last chance, getting in a space ship and getting out of there as the citadel and crucible just fly into dark space, dragging the reapers with them, before setting off a huge blast, that kills all of the reapers, while shepard and anderson (with the illusive man, maybe) sit in there ship, as it is pushed away by the blast enters Earth’s atmosphere and starts breaking up, with Anderson telling shepard to hold on, and whatever happens, “Good luck”, The ship then crashes, showing an earth with the reapers still on Earth being destroyed by the Ground and space forces, then small patrol could come and retrieve Shepard and Anderson, puts them on a small transport that then flies away into space, while the camera pans onto a Earth with the reapers Burning and buried, the Humans and other species rejoicing as the ship flies up to the Victory fleet(Shepard presumed dead), as Anderson talks to Shepard, Telling him how he saved the whole galaxy, Shepards life machine with a single line, when they enter the Normandy with admiral hackett and shepards squad on board, when the camera pans to Shepards Life support machine, where it starts beeping, and the camera fades to a destroyed Earth, when it fades again to a dialogue, giving closure to how the races coped after the War, with maybe shepard and his love interest and their babies, or the races founding a new style of onboard space jump drives, making Mass relays obsolete.
A new council is formed, with each species of the galaxy granted an embassy.
Then, a Large dialogue giving general information, like how the races rebuilt.
Then the ME3 logo appears, followed by the Star gazer, but no DLC prompt, it makes the game cheap.
Then the end credits and boom!
ME3 Ending transformed
Just an ending idea for ME3, don’t know if others will like it, thanks.
good ending
Perhaps I am too much the passive aggressive guy who choosed synergy, loved the end theme, wept a little bit about the lost souls.
But thx to angry joe, it’s obviously true, it would have been a much better ending for everyone if shepard had the option to let the whole united galaxy fight until the end.
diversity rules
and greed will always only be greed.
btw: ea be ashamed
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ythY_GkEBck
oh :p
just saw that Joe put the same video in his video info :p
the best indoctrination theori video ive watchet, realy, can’t be that Bioware never saw the clues to it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ythY_GkEBck
btw TIM was the biggest paragon char of the series and Anderson was the biggest renegade char of the series ? :p
My opinion about the ending:
I think, that, Bioware made the indoctrination theory (further ET), from the same begining, starting with ME1, because, i’ve watched many videos about plotholes, and how things come together, and i truly believe that ET is true version of this ending we got.
And than came the Big Ass Owner of Electronic fArts, and said: “OMG, you Bioware writers are geniuses, and i know how to put more money in my f***ing pocket, u do the game just to the place where Shepard is done fighting the indoctrination, and that’s it, than we could make more DLCs and multiplayer games of mass effect where would be the further going battle, when Shepard wakes up!”
personally i think, that the last battle, was kinda short. Other battles, were longer, and some of them different. but here we had all of the same old enemies just more. i think that Bioware were planning to make ME3 further,, to continue after those 3 explosions, that were in Sheps head, but EA bought them and fu**ed things up :@
I know so many games where EA do the talking and they are ruined…
U know that they had that logo and female voice said “EA games, Challenge everything!” I think that should be changed to RUIN EVERYTHING!
hate that company, with all of my heart. :/
but that is not the reason for this comment :p
yea, those are my opinions about the ending, i think, that bioware planed to give us the whole game, but EA cut the ending. :/
p.s. Sorry about my english
Why does the god-child even care about “saving” organic life? It would be much less trouble to just let organic life die and have only synthetics left.
Dude you nailed everything I pointed out in the ending in my vlog review of Mass Effect 3. I honestly got up and started screaming “WHAT THE FUCK?!” at my tv when I watched that. I knew going in that people were pissed but I didn’t know why (I think I finished the game in the week of its release). I thought it was low quality or something like Dragon Age: Origins. I honestly wish it was. It just didn’t fit with the rest of the series. Recently I did read they were happy with their “artistic” ending. Well whoopiddy fucking do for you. I am all about people using artistic ideas (that is how we started this series correct?) but when your direction goes so far left feild that it doesn’t fit with the rest then it is just a deterrent from the rest of your creation (example: A photo of a block of cheese on a Picaso). I still can not wrap my head around on how this got green lighted. I know they are doing an extended ending DLC. That’s nice, but we still have a WTF ending. I don’t think Bioware is getting the point. Oh well. I guess we have to wait and see.
My friend is color blind so he only got one shitty ending. HA!
Hi guys here’s how I think it is and how it will be – the most simple and logical explanation actually:
1) Bioware screws up with a f**ked-up lame ending
2) Fans go WHATTT?????? Some hardcord nerd fanboys try to assuage their disappointment by postulating the “indoctrination theory” to make themselves feel better about the disastrous ending
3) Meanwhile, Bioware goes like “Oh sh*t”! Fans are raging. Better do something!!”
4) Bioware, while trawling the forums, see the Indoctrination theory being postulated and decide to co-opt it in their DLC for damage control.
5) Hence they drop cryptic statements like “you better keep your ME3 saves”; “we have more” etc
6) They release the DLC. Voila instant (not really) damage control! They made the best out of a bad, unanticipated situation.
7) The nerd fanboys who postulated the “Indoctrination theory” feel vindicated. With a smug “I told you so” smirk on their faces, they promptly return to fapping at Jessica Chobot
END
When Shepard died in ME2, it wasn’t as shitty. But here in the ending of ME3, you can’t even use paragon/renegade options to tell the reapers to simply fuck off/make peace with us/turn themselves off.
Great video. Didn’t know about Joe’s reviews until I saw this video after I finished Mass Effect 3 and started searching the web for answers…
Since then, been checking out the rest of the reviews, usually on the money for most games. And the angry rants about something stupid in the games really crack me up. The reactions at the beginning of his ME3 review sum up how all of us feel about this ending.
Mass Effect was a long game that I think could be described like a marathon. You go through ME1, 2, and most of 3 and then at the finish line…you trip and decapitate yourself with the finish line ribbon.
BioWare could have done just about anything else and NOT screwed up the ending. Even though it sounds as if the DLC won’t change anything, I still believe in Indoctrination Theory to some degree. I mean come on! Shepard takes a breath only in the Destroy ending! Is that because Indoctrination Theory is right or is it because only in that ending does he not disintegrate from some device? Which would mean he magically survived the Citadel’s entry through Earth’s atmosphere. Just teasing us with that Easter egg, BioWare?
mass effect 3 is unfinished and sometimes bugged.
“my” Sheppard romanced tali (AFTER she committed suicide on her home world in the captains cabin). then i had some weird dream about a kid dying, waking up with tali, saying shell always be there for me & left me alone in the room.
took me 5 minutes before i had the feeling “dafu i just did?”
God Child: The citadel is my home……………The Citadel is a part of me
1. So why in ME1, did Sovereign have to be around to “monitor” us?
2. Why couldn’t the God Child just let the reapers thru himself? Instead he needed Saren to sneak in the back door and take over the Citadel and let them thru??
Reason 9 bother’s me the most.
“No.”
“No?”
“No. I don’t want to be responsible for the Reapers, I want them gone. And I don’t want to kill them if it means I have to murder the Geth and EDI to do it. And as for your ‘synthesis’ idea – you can take it and go to hell. _One_ of us, at least, isn’t arrogant enough to to decide for the rest of the Galaxy that their culture isn’t worth spit.”
“But… you have to choose.”
“And we’re back to ‘No’. You want to murder people, do it yourself.”
“That’s not what I’m… that’s not the solution; that won’t work.”
“You don’t know that – you’ve admitted as much. You want a solution? You want a purpose? Watch. Listen. Observe. If things go bad, if we ‘stand in the way’ of those that come afterwards, come back – and we’ll *negotiate*. Until then stop pretending you’re doing anybody any favours.
“…”
“Oh, and the form you’ve taken – ‘the innocent’? – lose it. You’ve got too much blood on your hands.”
Joe if you have 5000+ war resources and pick the destroy ending Shepard “lives” (you see his chest expand as he gasps once, although he is mostly buried in rubble… so, yeah, good luck surviving much more than a short period after being heavily wounded, crushed, and with any electronic medical devices now completely nonfunctional).
When shepard was healthy he failed to survive the destruction of normandy sr-1 in the mass effect 2 intro ..
And when shepard was fatally wounded he survived *god knws how* the destruction of citadel in the perfect renegade ending
Both situations had 1 thing in common,
Shepard ending up spaced but unlike in the 2nd one where he can actually breathe in space :/
I dont even care that shepard dies. Id even wouldnt care if words and pictures rolled across the screen saying what happened to all your allies. The fact that it gives you NOTHING is just wrong. ill agree they should have done something like ME2 ending where you can see your assets live/die/help whatever. The ending itself isnt wrong its the fact that the entire game was so high up there amazing and the ending is average? worst make out session ever!.. i mean game ending!
omg i just watched this and i am screaming at my computer because of this i totally agree there should be more resolution and a happy ending wouldn’t have been that bad.
Joe, I absolutely agree with you. The Mass Effect series was so epic but the least ten… make it twenty minutes. I really, really hope that some of the tenthousands, maybe even millions of fans of the game will make their own ending, a free ending, maybe even supported by Bioware. I mean, I even know people who refuse now to buy ANY EA-games because of that piece of crap they call a good ending. STALKER SoC – another awesome game by the way – had such a huge community that they wrote mods even with new maps and quests, so why can’t ME have the same?
Seriously, I would’ve preferred if they would’ve cut in the song ‘Never gonna give you up’ instead of this.
If you want a better ending, please join the Turn it On/Turn it Off for Bioware campaign, April 28th and 29th!
Love Mass Effect but hate the ending to ME3? Let Bioware know how you feel!
1) Turn ON your single player game some time during Saturday, April 28th (beginning at midnight Pacific Time/GMT -7). This tells Bioware you’re willing to buy their future products if the Ending DLC is satisfying.Tweet bioware (#turnMEon) to let then know what you’re doing and post an after action report on the BSN forum.
2) Turn OFF your game (including MP) for the entirety of Sunday, April 29th (beginning before midnight Pacific Time/GMT -7).This tells Bioware you’re willing to walk away from them if the Ending DLC is not satisfying.Tweet Bioware (#turnMEoff) to let then know you’re taking part. During the OFF period do not log in to the BSN forums.
The larger the difference between the two days, the more likely Mass Effect will get the ending it deserves.

My 3 issues:
1. The illusive man supposedly knew everything about the reapers. Ok. Who did he talk to? When? How was he being indoctrinated without an actual source? Harbinger was the big bad reaper in 2, but nothing happened with him in 3 except that he just shows up at the last second because he is the REAPER COMMANDER or something. However they gave no evidence of how the illusive man actually communicated with the reapers. Other than to say OH HEY he knows the catalyst is the citadel, so he went and took it. And told the reapers… How exactly?
2. The citadels drive core was destroyed in mass effect one. In 2, when you talk to Anderson on the presidium, he tells you repairs are coming along nicely thanks to the keepers, however it will be 5 years before the ship returns to full functionality.
This leaves a rather huge gap in how the citadel even activated a mass relay to travel to earth less than a year later..
3. How does the “God Child” know about the crucible and its functionality when the organic races are the ones that built it. The reapers didn’t discover it, thats why they were HIDDEN archives. The whole point of the tech was that it was unknown to the reapers, but somehow they knew exactly what it did and what each function would do? I don’t buy that in the presumable DAY that the illusive man tells the reapers about the prothean vi and the crucible, it knew exactly what was going to happen.
Angry Joe, Tali has a nice facepalm too, when Shepard asks about Qwib-Qwib
1 point of concern for me atleast , not sure if others would agree to it but …
read it some where that citadel was surrounded by certain type of clouds that allowed people to breathe on citadel
k so when citadel enterd the Sol system u dont see any type of clouds around it … my point is, in the ” perfect ” renegade ending the shepard takes a breath even if the citadel gets destroyed the shepard was suppose to be floating in the vacuum instead he is on ground burried under rubbles. The situation pretty much resembled the 1 in mass effect 2 intro. Unless, the shepard magically teleported back to London during the xplosion.
Ugh……….a better and simpler question would be “what DO I like about the ending?”. The answer to that question would be nothing.
How come if Shepard is part synthetic and organic, and the Reapers are also part synthetic and organic. How come Shepard lives (even if it is a secound) after the explosion. And the Reapers are wiped out. It could be another reason for indoctornation or another thing, or just a plot hole Bioware didn’t think of.
I think Bioware was trying to go for an anticlimax. That is, a literary device where the final resolution is very boring, kinda like War of the Worlds. That sounds nice, but if you do that, you really need to do it so over the top that the audience knows it’s just tomfoolery. If they wanted an anticlimax, they should have just put up two big buttons. One marked “Destroy all advanced life” and one marked “Destroy all reapers.” It would have been stupid, but would it have really been any worse than the piece of crap ending they gave us?
Here is the thing I don’t understand about the game out side of what is talked about on the review here. What happened to all of the people on the Citadel? What happens to the counsel or Harken or even the C-SEC guard to the left of the elevator leading to the Counsels main chambers? I did a lot to help increase the defenses of the place but the game is now saying that it was taken to earth out of the blue.
Take a look at this site, it really speaks to the truth of how messed up mass effect is. http://www.vgcats.com/comics/?strip_id=312

…A mysterious and secretive entity that has been behind the scenes for who knows how long, which calls the shots on a massive scale that is non-beneficial to anybody but its own agenda. Add to that; all the multicultural friction, the tough decisions on the Genophage and Shepard not allowed to make a ‘proper’ choice…
That child is not a God Child, as this video suggests – It is a NEW WORLD ORDER CHILD!!!
The endings were crap because it was PURE PROPAGANDA forced upon a very popular game!
The makers were most likely forced to create these endings or were paid off, so that’s why it’s half arsed nonsense. The game was popular enough so it could send a message to many millions of people… and mainly children. This is just a twisted view on what’s good for us and that we might as well just give in. Look at the Matrix – same ‘know-it-all entity. I’m sure there are many examples of this when you get popular entertainment that has a pants ending.
Why the hell did Hacket steal our speech?? WTF?! im all prepared with my goodytwo shoes pargon rant to speak to the massive force I F@*$KING SPENT HOURS collecting ass kissing solving their petty problems and for what? So HACKETT can steal my hero moment? and what did we get huh? we got to speak to our rag tag shitty crew (which are basiclly random infantry in this game)then select two to play to the end? what the fuck? what happened to leading our fully loyal (cause i did all the loyalty quest to make sure those F*&^kers would survive in M2) on a suicide run to take down the reapers? COME ON!!! CERBEROUS BASE was more of a chalenge! what we stumble around for ten mins? defend a place for ten mins against aperently “unwinnable odds” which i find laughable then we bolt for the beam and chat for the next twenty mins for as you covered a choice of sucide, sucide or suicide? and thats why i hate the ending
love your show man!
p.s Screw collecting team mebers i could have done the whole fucking game with James and Lira and saved a fuck load of time and energy as the team mebers have no effect on what happens
hear me out, watch the indoctrination theory because it answers all the plot holes and sets us up for the real ending. >SPOILERS and my idea for the real ending> So from earth, sheaperd has a near death expirience and the reapers try to fully indoctrinate sheaperd whilst he is knocked out, he goes through the portal to the citadel and he die after you dostroy the reapers and technology (red ending) you beat the indoctrination attemps of the reapers and wake up save the earth for real. thanks.
I just find it depressing to think that such a great series had such an unsatisfying ending. 10 minutes to ruin 90+hours of gameplay, I cant see the ending without my mood dropping.
The whole theory the starchild provides is quite good, except one thing: IF THE REAPERS WANT TO STOP SYNTHETICS FROM DESTROYING ALL ORGANIC LIFE, WHY DON’T THEY JUST FUCKING WAGE WAR ON ALL SYNTHETICS, KILL THEM AND TELL TO THE ORGANICS: “DONT FUCKING MAKE AI AGAIN OR ELSE WE ARE GONNA COME BACK AND KILL YOU TOO”.
Seriously, it’s so retarded! I could accept the Reapers being the so-called guardians of life (even if they deliver mass genocide on a galactic scale) if they would just destroy all synthetics. They don’t, instead on the first ME they use the Geth as part of their forces. WTF? They are actually enabling the very thing they are supposingly trying to prevent.
!!! Good thought! I like this.
One reason I have a hard time excepting the indoctrination theory, in order to get that “perfect” ending of breath where you make the assumption it is Shepard the following has to be true:
1. Anderson doesn’t “die” (he always dies, but he doesn’t die right away)
2. You have OVER 4000 EMS
3. You choose “destroy” the reapers
If this is indoctrination, why do you have to assure #1? Logically, the indoctrination should always fail if you perform #3.
#2 WHY do you NEED 4000 EMS?
This is a “RPG”, generally, I don’t enjoy online play of any game (bc I get harassed, it’s like guys have never spoken to a girl before), but to FORCE you to play online (90min of online play to get to 58%) to obtain a higher readiness. And if you stop playing your % decreases over time?! This ridiculousness is a slap in the face.
The statement made by the illusion child was ridiculous… The whole theory is stupid; essentially, the Reapers are saying, “Organics create synthetics, synthetics revolt, we (synthetics) kill the organics that are highly advanced and
TURN them into synthetics for our benefit…“ascend” them for their well being (which is synthetic), repeat with lesser organics. O_o anyone else feel dirty from that backward logic? Thanks Bioware…for making me feeling like any choice I ever made through 100+ hours of game play (ME1-3) NEVER mattered. All that work…and for what? To watch all synthetics including Geth, EDI, and MAYBE people who had synthetics die? And THAT was supposed to be the BEST ending? Find someone who can write the ending as well as the main plot. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed the game up until the end…now some may be saying “You are just refusing to look for ‘more’, beyond the obvious”…not true. I am a creative writer at heart, I would NEVER leave an ending that would make the majority of readers feel so incomplete and unsatisfied…with so many more questions than answers.
#1 anderson represents the non indoctrination part of sheaperds mind, were as the illsuive man is the indoctrinated parts, so if the illusive man kills anderson, you will always become indoctrinated
#2 because all games that have secret endings make you do hard work to get them. and i think it accualy 5000 ems
#3 if the indoctrination theory is correct, than technicly the war over earth isnt over and sheaperd takes a breath on EARTH (secret ending) so he still needs to kill all reapers and save the galaxy and what not.
btw i think the normandy landing on a planet part was just to make people think that it ended.
this is my view of the ending considering the indocrination theory.
You are right on 2, that was a typo on my part. I will admit, I am biased, I hate the indoctrination theory. Some people find it to be a clever twist, I just can’t agree with it. I feel dicked around with that ending.
I beat the game, I watched the ending, and I haven’t even LOOKED at Mass Effect 3 since.. It’s almost incomprehensibly to imagine that my favourite game series could be THIS disappointing… It hurts to say that I wont be playing Mass Effect 3 ever again. UNLESS they come out with some kind of DLC that re writes the ending.. But even then, probably not.
Another thing about Normandy crashing…. Joker has a brittle bone disease. So with a crash landing, shouldn’t Joker be seriously injured at the least? No way should he just be able to walk away from all that.
