Star Wars Kinect Angry Review
Release Date: April 3rd, 2012
Platform: Xbox Kinect
Developer: Terminal Reality
Publisher: Lucas Arts
Genre: Motion Control
Players: 1-2 Offline Players
Perhaps further proof that Kinect detection needs improvement, the much hyped Star Wars Kinect has trouble reading essential basic movements to the core experience, lightsaber play. You certainly won’t feel like you’re a Jedi. So without a fun basic core premise, can the rest of the Star Wars themed mini-games live up to the license? Psst. The Answer is No.

sometimes i feel happy for not having a xbox or i would by now being collecting pieces outside of my window after knowing how trashed star wars have became…..
That…han solo song is enough to make ANY starwars fan cry… why do they gotta (jiggy) everything up?!
It’s pretty bad when the best parts of your Star Wars game are the modes where you flail around like you’re having a seizure and a dance mode if only because of how ridiculous they are. It sucks because this game could have been really fun if they actually put effort into the lightsaber fights and tightened the Kinect’s motion detection. I’m concerned that if we finally do get a Battlefront 3 they’ll do something to ruin that too.
Hahahahahaha! CAN’T DO SHIT! CAN’T DO SHIT!!!!
lol!!!!!
How many times have we told them to make battlefront 3 insted of this shit!
I predicted this was going to blow chunks, and that includes the Kinect. Admittedly, the Kinect has fared slightly better than i expected, but the games themselves, well….This is a perfect example of horrid games. I figured things would be hard if the player had to be the controller, and this game shows that by using it to its worst.
Still funny Rancor and dancing. That’s something….I got it: Rancor – The Game! Some company has to be stupid enough to make that game! Though it makes me wonder why no Godzilla games are out for Kinect that are like that. I’d pay money to play something like that!
And odds are the game would be thrown across the room five minutes later due to awful controls.
The Force isn’t strong with this one….-_-
LMAO joes face on slave leia, man just looks like a mashpot of shit, cannon? you know its thing like this that push me away from starwars and closer to w40K
Hey Joe,
can we expect you to check out PROTOTYPE 2? I hope we can.

Classic Joe Rage hellz yeah!!
oh look, star wars games are going down the sarlacc pit
the wii is the pinnacle of practical motion control gaming, and it isnt very good in that capacity.
so what the hell did microsoft and sony ever expect with their second banana motion controls? surely they didnt think to steal nintendo’s new casual demographic moneyz. they know business, that the high price tag of a runner up could never compete with the cheap japanese thing that hit the shelves first. they could not be so laughably arrogant as to… kinect start wars?! holy shit, i guess they could be.
wow, just wow, i find it very ironic that star wars has even reached this point, i mean my 10 year old cousin hasnt even seen or played any star wars games or movies xD my advice? scrap Xbox Kinect, PS Move and leave motion controls to the Wii!
The only good thing with this game is that it will hopefully make people who buy it so angry that they will throw their Kinect out of their window.
Forget Kinect games. They’re never going to be very good. The only thing the Kinect can really do is dance games.
SCREW YOU LUCAS WE WANT A NEW BATTLEFRONT GAME.
they have to make Star Wars Battlefront 3
we ask for battlefrount 3 and we get this lol at people trying to make money
Also, sorry for double post, but you do realise I’m now going to try make a Kinect Fighter that works, right
*Pets his Wii and PS3* Not like the tech to pull this off exists or something ;P
In recent years I have come to question the mental capabilities of LucasArts. It’s like they don’t know that Republic Commando 2 or Battlefront 3 would bring them truck loads of money. Oh well….
Hey Joe any thoughts on Total war shogun 2: Fall of the samurai?
There is more to the game than dancing? I thought it was entirely a dancing game.
Joe’s face + Leia’s body + Galactic Dance Off = EPIC WIN COMBO 🙂 Though that’s it as far as the best parts of the game go. And since your face is missing in the universal version of the game I’ll just pass on it.
Also Joe, did you manage to nab a copy of The Witcher 2 from CDP when you were in Poland?
It didn’t look like you were trying that hard when you were leaning while playing the Kinect. Can the Kinect not due leaning or is there just a technique to it?
It’s not actually the issue of the Kinect itself, but with the programming for whoever coded that section. Dance Central, and to a degree Child of Eden actually show that the Kinect can pretty accurately read what your skeletal frame does. Dance Central being especially known for its hyper accurate reading even for some of the more subtle movements this game seems to get wrong.
I’m almost thinking the issue is that different developers coded different parts of the game, thus the disjoint inconsistency of sections that control really well and others that control poorly.
It does seem a shame that some companies don’t take the same care for Kinect controls as others even though some games tend to make you think (Why the heck is this developer 1000x better than this developer at producing a Kinect game?) Then again, I guess that’s the case for most motion-control setups. I’ve had the same experiences with Wii and Move. Me thinks there’s a serious issue with quality control for some of these games.
Yesterday, I make one of my friends, who´s an fan of Star Wars since the 90´s. After watching Han Solo and Darth Vader dancing, he destroyed [it´s official, guys] his laptop. Later on, his parents asked why he did that. He said: “George Lucas. George Lucas did it”
Your friend needs psychological help then. He has issues.
As much problems it has, i would want it eventually. But no way am i paying full price, maybe it’ll come out on redbox and i’ll try it out just for the sake of my wallet. other than that, i’ll wait till it’s dirt cheap.
That was funny as hell, good review Joe!
Btw, i tried to download this file using download helper, but for some reason the file size is over 2gb. I just wonder if anyone has the same problem and if there is a way around it. I always download Joe’s videos, but this is the first time the file is this unnaturally large. So i am wondering what has changed?
I miss the good ol’ days of Lucas Arts when they had Pandemic handle their games.
Then Corporate Command- Err, Electronic Arts came and killed them D’:
Kinect looool 🙂 I love to watch how kinect fails. Anyway the dance mode is valid only if you are into that dance shit 😀
GREAT review Joe! What a giant piece of shit this game turned out to be. Gawd, the dancing mode is friggin’ hilarious.
Awesome the anger is back! I was starting to wonder if he was ever to be vehemently pissed on camera again, but then here he is shouting like a lunatic and cursing like a sailor.
Awsome review, Joe! The game was about as bad as I expected and your video was as funny as always. “Special-Needs Rancor” lol, hilarious!
Just watched this episode and laughed my ass off. One question: is Jennifer Hale doing voiceacting for that female Jedi, Mavra Zane? I thought it sounded like bastila/shepard. Correct me if I am wrong.
I want more Battlefront and Force Unleashed… the good ones. Enough of this sellout s&%t. Hmmm… Just had an idea. Witcher meats Star Wars
*meets
no its actually a new delicacy from germany containing ground beef with mashed up toy lightsabers and striga bones
Actually. The dance mode practically sold me on this game just due to the ridiculous aspect of it. Alas. The wait for games as good as Dance Central and Child of Eden is still going. Though the Disney/Pixar stuff is good for the kids. I can see this selling at a reduced price if only to try the impressive podracing mode. (Wonder if they’ll take the podracing sections and make a full-blown Kinect game out of it)
I highly doubt the dance off mode is “canon”. My guess is that when they say this game is canon it is only refering to the main campaign. Even if it is canon (which I doubt it is) it’s not like the authors and comic writers in the SW universe are ever going to mention it. The luke, leia, han story line is currently like 40-45 years after the original movie at this point. I doubt I will see mention in the novels or comics of the “intergalactic dance off”. So it really doesn’t piss me off that much. I’m a massive SW fan (I have a 300 dollar ultra saber hanging on my wall) and I’ve experienced just about everything the universe has to offer. Like Midi-chlorians this game will be forgotten and rarely ever mentioned in the greater expanded universe.
That was hilarious, especially the parts when you were dumbfounded at the kinnect when it fails to work properly in certain sections, and great in others, i doubt that i will get a kinnect because all the extra games and features as well as the negatives included doesn’t seem to make it worth it
keep up the good work Joe!
Well that whole, Kinnect targeting hard core gamers didn’t last long. Guess Microsoft and every developer finally came to the conclusion that most people hated the kinnect even before it was released. I mean you know a game is just trying to sucker in grandmas and parents when they put a 12 year old kid on the cover.
If you want a good Kinect game, try Diabolical Pitch from Grasshopper Studios.
It has a trial so you can see if it’s something you like.
Seriously, Joe. Don’t you have any positive videos to make that’s Star Wars related? All you’re doing is letting commenters go all out on giving stupid reasons on why they don’t care for or hate Star Wars and George Lucas.
He’ll have something positive to say when they make something thats actually good. He isn’t trashing the game just because it has the Star Wars name on it, he’s being honest. Go watch the Star Wars: The Old Republic video. He said a lot of good things about that.
And quite frankly the reason basically everyone is pissed at lucas is that he exploits star wars to the point of stupidity. If you ask me the prequels got made cause he had already milked the originals as much as he could, and this is evident by how poorly thought-out the scripts were and how supposedly phantom menace was finished with one draft. Now hes making millions on cheesy video-games, novels, and that retarded animated series on cartoon network. As far as im concerned everything after the original trilogy apart from the force unleashed (wich I really enjoyed and quite frankly was better done than the prequels) is fanfiction and i do not consider it to be part of the starwars canon.
Luckily they never aim for pc platform.
Is it me or every kinect game I see, ends up as total shit.
Oh LucasArts, how far have we fallen..
I managed to watch this by not touching anything and enduring the 15 second pauses every 10 seconds.
Thanks for the warning, but I think any sane Star Wars fan (not even that, any sane person) would know that this was gonna flop either way…
Oh God, George Lucas. Don’t you like any of your franchises?
Watch the special features on the DVD and Blu-rays. You’ll find out he still does.
tsc…this new video player sucks!
I cant watch!
He don’t buffer when paused!
🙁
Hahahaha, that was a hilarious review. Could not stop laughing. The dance mode is just fuckin funny, I don’t see how people could be pissed at it. It’s just a bit o’ fun. Though the game looked like shit and I would never dream of purchasing it, or even a kinect for that matter. But thanks for the review Joe.
Honestly they were better working with Harmonix and releasing a DLC addon for Dance Central 2.
I could have told you back when kinect was 1st conceived that a star wars game would be horrible on it
Gwah! I’ve been waiting all week for this review but my internet has been slow lately and the video player doesn’t buffer when paused!
My internet is fine and still the video is too slow to buffer.
Well that is sad. Somehow I knew this would not be good.
Welp I’m never buying this game.
