i bought this game because of your review. I got it on sale at amazon for $20 and after watching your video it sounded great. I would say the game plays incredible, fast travel would be amazing, and pawns can be annoying, but with the level of depth, fighting, and boss battles there isn't much else out there like this. I trust your reviews and picked the game up and I frickin love it. Hopefully they make DD2 and fix the bs stuff, but man I am having so much fun with this one. Thanks Joe!

I'd generally agree with Joe's comments. I felt they could have done more with the story though. More interesting quests would have been nice, and the 'post-game' content is really stupid. I know some people get into the whole philosophical anime-style endings (and don't get me wrong, huge anime fan) but I can't stand some of the convoluted endings this reminds me of- looking at you, Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle and Code Geass. And to me the post-game content and ending of Dragon's Dogma felt like some sort of unholy hybrid of the two animes I mentioned above. I will try not to be not too specific since I know spoilers bother some people.

But seriously, what is it with 2012 and nonsensical and/or unsatisfying endings (I avoid the word depressing because some sad endings can be really good if done right...several anime and games I know have done this).

Mass Effect 3, Assassin's Creed 3, and now Dragon's Dogma? Seriously? (No offense to people who liked the endings.)

One thing that could have made this game really great is a strong main plot, cool NPCs, and endings THAT MAKE SENSE. (Only 1 ending kind of made sense, and even then all the stuff that happened in between killing the dragon and that was forced and convoluted. ) Also, make the teaching of your pawn something integral to the story? Maybe as time goes along your pawn acts more human and develops rudimentary emotions, creating a more dynamic relationship that could lead to a strong friendship or even a romance (which might be possible since there is no evidence in game to suggest it isn't possible- at least in my opinion).

Which brings me to another point- and this is a spoiler, so skip the rest if you don't like spoilers- apparently, you get a love interest who is kidnapped by the dragon and this person is based on who you have a high affinity with (personally I think they should have some sort of indicator of affinity), but there's no way of knowing since if you have a lot of people with high affinity it might as well be random. I wish there was someway to lock in the love interest you want, and that more than two candidates had special dialogue (I'd rather have ten or so good candidates than pretty almost every NPC with nothing interesting to say).

Also, give us more chances to shape our character's persona, even if they don't talk, give them the opportunity to be asked questions by NPCs that change their opinion of you.

Maybe I am asking too much but I think that would have made the game a lot stronger- maybe even a favorite. And of course only having 1 save file and one character per profile...

Loved how my character looked in cutscenes, loved the customization system, loved the class system, combat is fun, day and night cycle is fun, and the concept of pawns and swapping them is awesome. And some of the basic plot elements, while not unique (having your heart stolen by the dragon, the dragon trying to weasel their way out of being an A**hole), and -spolier- dealing with other arisen who followed different paths, and how the world actually works and some of the history there.

But, what the whole thing turned out to be in the end left so much to be desired, and was as Joe put it, lackluster story wise.

Still, a promising start for a company not used to making western RPGs. If they make a sequal or a different game in a similar vein, they have their work cut out for them.

Kind of mad at EA and Capcom for other things. But, here at least Capcom tried to make something interesting.

I'd give it a 6/10 (decent but could use a lot of work to be better).

Beyond just looking good, Oakley carefully engineers this style to maximise comfort and give it a great fit. No athlete or other wearer wants to fuss with a pair of sunglasses that is ill-fitting, either pinching or sliding off your face at inconvenient times. The semi-rimless design ensures your field of vision is never obscured, particularly when looking downward, which can happen with other models of sunglasses. Oakley wearers expect a premium sunglass product that fits snugly and stays in place, allowing you to forget you are even wearing the Oakley Flak Jacket sunglasses,1_385. <a href="http://www.fakeoakleysoaho.com/oakley-antix-sunglasses-c-1/cheap-oakley-antix-sunglasses-black-frame-gray-lens-p-31.html" title="fake Oakleys Antix Sunglasses Black Frame Gray" rel="nofollow">fake Oakleys Antix Sunglasses Black Frame Gray</a>

No Joe, No! I can live with "expecially" as that is almost a catch phrase for you, but "alogorythms"? No. It is algorithm, "Al-Go-Rithum". A logorythm is "a quantity representing the power to which a fixed number must be raised to produce a given number". I don't believe that is what you meant at all. Not at all!
Lovin' your work. =)

actually this is the reverse of it all comapred to dragon heart. for one, you take half the dragon's heart there, and the draogn in this gamesteals it. that and it is an evil dragon and does have that awesome voice.

still it is a very cool dragon in its own right. it takes a design from mythology that i have rarely seen in dragons. i do forget the desgins country of origin though. i do know that they have that arrow like tongue though.

Love the reviews Joe, keep it up. I would love to hear your thoughts on the new "Dark Arisen" content that they are coming out with and basically screwing existing buyers of the game.

I mean stating "we can't do it as DLC because we don't have the coding to release it as DLC" and then Coming out with the original game + added content as the ONLY way to buy it? That seems super shady.

Hey Joe, you noticed how Capcom (the REAL Corporate Commander is you ask me) are rereleasing Dragon´s Dogma (Enchanced Edition style) but not releasing the upgrades as a free download to all the fools who bought the original game?
