Man, I gotta say Phil, this panel really *Puts on glasses* cracks me up. YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!
Also, on a more critic note, a few expository or narration captions (like you see in other comic books hanging on the upper left corner) would be a nice touch to help give insight to people who might not play the certain games you parody, or just help give insight in general.
One of the friends I show these too kept asking things like what town is that, how far was he launched, what’s he holding in his hand, etc.
I’m not saying you should blatantly explain everything with a paragraph of information, potentially ruining the joke, but just making things a bit clearer would help. Example, on the top it could say “Winterhold-200M From previous destination”, or even some narration explaining the Wabbajack in Joe’s hands. Unless you actually play Elder Scrolls, and even if you have, you’ll need to spend serious time looking for it, you’ll have no idea what that is.
This is just my opinion, so don’t let it affect your work. It’s just criticism. Still, funny as always, so keep ‘em coming you devilish cat-man-bear-pig-alien-mutant-psychomantis-super-ultra-megachicken-awesome-abracadabra-eeegahh-приветmeineاسم是फिल- ಠ_ಠ – (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻) – (^o^;>) person you!
I would have been willing to help (if you couldn’t find anyone) but unfortunately we don’t live in the same country, so it would be difficult for us to communicate and for me to help as much as say someone in your own country (timezones being what they are).
Ah well, at least you have a way of editing your work, I’ll try to help point out errors on the page if no one else does
okay I think I have some criticism for your work
1) shading – it will make your art more exighting and it will make your characters pop out right now they are all really flat
2.a) your hand is a little wobbly and inaccurate (I’m guessing you trace your sketches with your mouse) try converting your ink to vectors clean up anchorpoints it will smooth out the picture and give you more control over the thikness of the lines
2.b) as an alternative if you use photoshop try learning how the path tool works combined with brush engine it will also give you more controll
3) I don’t know how your work process works but remember that layers and masks are your friends
that’s all the advice I can think of right now
I thank you very much for your criticism, to my defense on the other 3 things (aside from shading), I’m using traditional pen and paper, aside from colors this thing is all traditional. I do use layers though, don’t use masks however, I’ll look into that. Does sound kinda complex however… o.o;
Again, thank you very much for the comment, I will try to put in a little bit more elbow grease into this comic. Can only get better over time through effort, right? ;3
your work works like that (if I think correctly)
1) you sketch out a comic (whole?)
2) you ink it with pen
3) you scan it in
4) then you add colors gradients and other details
if that is right then I suggest drawing every panel on a different shet of paper, scale it down and resize it in your software where you add borders and colors to the panel. that’s the simplest thing you can do to give yourself more controll ^_^ if you want we can chat about it on skype I would love to be of help
That’s all correct actually, the only real problem with doing comic paper on different sheets of paper is that eventually it would waste paper, the only thing I can think of to replicate that would be to draw on my massive 11 x 17″ comic boards. Can’t really afford to use that paper however, gotta stick with office paper and make the most of it.
That or wait until I can finally land that tablet, that would be an awesome day.
Then you can try to draw on both sides and 2 panels per side, one panel per page is best case scenario I’m sure you can find that sweet spot where you can get the best quality to efficiency ratio.
after you ink and scan the image load it to a free software called “inkscape” it is simple to use vector-art tool. There you can convert your art to bunch of lines that connect two points gaining endless scailability (to compensate for not being in best case scenario) cus vector pictures are always crisp and sharp no matter how far you zoom in. I can link you to my inking tutorial that goes into a bit more detail if you want to
or you know what I feel a bit rusty (didn’t touch photoshop in a while) why don’t you give me an old sketch or something like that and I will ink color and shade it for you ^_^
Phil dont listen to these guys.Your doing a web comic and its good.
And to all the others who the fuck are you to come here and tell this man how you would do it.If you are so damned great fine.Go out and make your own.Until then keep your 2 bit half assed im a some nobody critique to yourselves.
Blasts my mind. When the only thing a guy can accomplish is suck his mommas tits and tell someone else how they did it wrong.
Ouch, it’s okay to take constructive criticism and to give it to others in turn, this guy seems like he just wants to help Phil out with a few suggestions, that’s no reason to straight up insult the guy unless he was like “but your work is NOTHING compared to mine!” that would have been an adequate cause. and I’m not saying that Phil’s work is bad, I’m just saying that their is no reason to shit all over constructive criticism from a guy from all appearances just wants to help out
And just what part of my posts warrents your reaction? Dont you think you went a little bit over board with
“Blasts my mind. When the only thing a guy can accomplish is suck his mommas tits and tell someone else how they did it wrong.”
I realize that if I was acting like a self centered dushe bashing on Phils art that tone of your post would be in line but I dont think that I did that and I don’t think I deserve what you just said.
I am hovewer willing to listen if you have something to say about overall tone of my wrighting and some pointers about over all grammar and structure of my comments are more then welcome. I am not a native English speaker so some things that I try to say may be lost in translation and having pointers from people that use that language every day will be beneficial.
Direlectshane, I do like how you’re wanting to defend my art here, but… I actually like Jahith’s advice, so take a step back, invest your hatred into some dark side mana to make yourself even stronger, then come back and be friendly to others cause we don’t want to be killing one another here.
Hear hear! And don’t worry worried about being a self-centered douche Jahith, I’m pretty sure a sign of being one isn’t offering up helpful and constructive criticism. a douche would be someone who insults those who do
I know I’m late to get into this conversation but… if you (phill) are like me and like traditional mediums and photoshop’s many many buttons tend to just make you angry… I would look into a program called Procreate Painter. I use a pretty old version (2001 version) but the newer versions are just as good (if not better) The software mimics traditional mediums. So together with a WACOM tablet and Procreate, you can do pretty much anything on computer that you can do on paper… with less cost and less cleanup. I still hand draw all my work.. even though Procreate has a pencil option… But I color everything using Procreate now and only use Photoshop CS3 to do editing. I hope that helps! Feel free to hit me up with questions on the software if you ever get around to getting it.
Stop posting this shit you fucking furry lover! Your very avatar disgusts me! I wanna see the real joe! not you and your pathetic attempt at art. Go get your own furry website and do your bestiality fantasies there not here you disgusting fag!
P.S. No offense by the way. That was an Angry review you can learn and improve upon! I’m an Angry person, hence why I like angry joe. If you also start talking big and bold instead of these comics, I would like your art too. Otherwise this is not a place I come here for hence my disappointment and anger!
It wasn’t even too close, I thought it was straight up offensive. And then he tries to counter it by doing a second post trying to explain his way out of it… It still doesn’t justify the first post imo…
Your going to use the wabbajack? make sure you turn him into a sweet roll. though if you do Sheogorath might crack up and take it, leaving you to deal with unsympathetic guards, or he might rip out your intestines and play skip rope with them, or he might turn him into a really ANGRY dragon when you try

love the art work man! keep em coming!
Wabbajak! Angry Joe turns the cat giant into a giant wheel of aged cheddar! The Madgod approves!
Stick to Britannia, Spoony. The Avatar is not manly enough to dwell in Skyrim. He lacks the necessary facial hair.
giant wheel of aged cheddar? hell no, make him into a sweetroll!

Nice pun, can’t believe I hadn’t thought of that one…
lol
hilarous!
Wow, these are getting better each time lol
Man… Can’t think of a good pun this time…
-Have-! Should -have-! “Should of” is not a phrase!
Apart from my own hang-up, great comic. Love the continuation of “Fuuuuuuck!” and the other imprints in the wall. Plus, nice rendition of Whiterun.
Am I the only one who -really- wants that outfit Joe’s wearing?
I agree with everything you said, especially about the Angry Joe outfit (which looks badass)
Edited, just press F5, also edited a previous comic with a spelling mistake. Really need to have a friend look over my writing.
I would have been willing to help (if you couldn’t find anyone) but unfortunately we don’t live in the same country, so it would be difficult for us to communicate and for me to help as much as say someone in your own country (timezones being what they are).

1. Continuation of the word fuck
2. Other imprints
3. Fat guy
4. Spoony
5. Wabbajack
Oh, oh GOD THIS IS AWESOMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
I love how there’s other imprints in the city. Clearly the giant’s been doing this before.

That was… Extremely close to being really offensive…
A little too close in my opinion…
Bipolar disorder anyone?
What the hell is your problem! an angry review would have been fine but that was just a jackass/douchebag review
I was thinking exactly the same…
It wasn’t even too close, I thought it was straight up offensive. And then he tries to counter it by doing a second post trying to explain his way out of it… It still doesn’t justify the first post imo…
*grabs popcorn and watches the hate*
Now that’s a pro way to handle da hate.
Respect, Phil
Crap, forgot my wallet at home…
You don’t think I can grab some of yours, do you lol
whoo

Mad Gods are like that
