Game of Thrones – Will HBO Cancel the Series?

I love the books and now I’ve almost finished the 4th one. While I love the show, I am constantly anxious about it’s cancellation. Too many times have HBO cancelled good shows because of the cost. Look at ‘Rome’. It’s a shame but unfortunately I don’t think the show will last too many more series
lol young characters just like arya, bran, rickon, how are they supposed to still look young when last season is going to be produced?
I think the problem of funding would be solved if only HBO would allow subscriptions anywhere in the world online without US cable provider.
They do that already, in brazil there’s hbo go too
I saw this video on youtube when it first came out and i cant be happier that I did! Joe has gotten me hooked on game of thrones
I’ve seen all the episodes and have started reading the first book, I think HBO will keep going with Game Of Thornes, they are doing season 3 for Broadwalk Empire HBO spent $18 million on just the very first episode.
I’ve read the books and personally I would cut out a lot of characters introduced in the 3th, 4th and 5th book. They seemed to be doing this as they cut characters from the 2nd book in the 2nd season, only to introduce them in the upcomming season…
It seems they want to tell the story as it is. This is of course the nicest way to do it but honestly, I think that the majority that watch the show only do so with half attention. It is just entertainment to most people. Once it gets too complex they’ll get confused and eventually bored.
So I think HBO is prepared to pay what it needed to get the required special effects. Afterall they could skip some of the major battles (they did so in both season 1 and 2). It is important that the upclose special effects (like the dragons and others/white walkers) is done properly. So I think costs will stay around 80-90 million per season.
If they’re smart then they will cut some characters and put the 4th and 5th book into season 5 and 6 (if they would put it all in it would take 3 seasons atleast). I can’t comment about the 6th and 7th book but I think 9 seasons in total should do it. As long as it remains interesting to the general public then they’ll make their money back.

I have the whole series on my shelf, only 2 chapters through the second book after reading the first book for a year and a half. I have to say, I really do not like it. I find myself struggling to get the willpower to open the book and read it for a mere ten minutes because it seems more like an old man’s sexual fantasies than what the critics say it is. Incest and sex on every other page, every five pages some guy dies, and every chapter for me is like completing a 10km run. I’m probably going to get crap saying that I just don’t appreciate good writing or I’m just uneducated, and maybe people are right, because I really want to like the book, but I just can’t bring myself to it. Ah well, something I’m gonna have to live with.
I’ve read Storm of Swords and without ruining it for everyone…. shit gets real. HBO should be able to eat the cost, especially if they stay true to the story. Think actor payroll for those who have read it.
Anyone know if The Amazing Spiderman Game was any good? Im thinking about getting it.
I dont think HBO will cancel Game of Thrones. It’s too popular and if people keep watching and buying the series will last for a long time, well until the make seasons based on the last few books of course. But I may be wrong, who knows?

You didn’t mention how many people pirate this series. They said season 2 was the MOST pirated series of that year! I hope more people support it with their funds!
Season 2 being pirated shouldn’t be a surprise. Many people have bought the first Season on DVD, don’t want to subscribe to HBO, and can’t currently buy Season 2. There isn’t even a release date for Season 2 yet.
Me? I haven’t pirated it, I got the first Season on Blu Ray and am just waiting patiently.

as i big fan of books and serie I bought a game for Xbox and well it is pretty big pile of shit
story is “god” for an amature college writer BUT there are some god thinks like you can play secondary quests as night’s watch recruiter wich is cool and in one quest they mention the White Walkers BUT they NEVER LET YOU FIGHT WITH THEM this game is like books fucuses on the story thats ok BUT you don’t want it in a game!! you want play as John Snow or just spend all game on the wall NO this game just pulls you around 5 or 6 locations and thats it you have a map where are marked places like Casterly rock or Pike BUT YOU CAN NEVER GO THERE! and the grafic is like from 2008! the story although is pretty long and takes me like 30-40 hours to complete but it is more like suffering when the rest of the game is bad, this game is like 2/10 from me this is not a 60 dollars game this is a god

I love Game of Thrones, the books, the shows, I even have the game. There is one piece of advice that I can give you, Angry Joe. As far as the characters go…Don’t Get Attached. Seriously. George R.R. Martin has no problems with killing off main characters, which makes the series such a break-neck pace and it all comes off as being a nail-biting plot. He is literally my favorite author right now because of the amount of anxiety that comes off of his writing.

When i saw this vid i started thinking about what you’ve said, i’ve seen so many good shows get canceled it makes me sad… But the costs this series will have is too big. One of the producers said in comic con (i don’t remember when but i think it was in the first one they went to) that they would be happy if they took the series just until “the Red Wedding”, i think that maybe that’s for the best because i would rather have them doing what they can than have them screwing up the series. The free cities are too varied, the valyrian territory is amazing. I’ve read the books and love the series. Favourite characters are: Jon Snow; Daenerys and Arya

The problem is the tax break they get by filming in Ireland isn’t as good as when they first started the show, I think it will survive but they going to need to maybe film somewhere else,maybe Eastern Europe.
Well… I guess that when, by season 3 everyone understands that EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER will (…) HBO will have to cancel it anyway.

I love the series, am a big fan. Am waiting anxious the 3rd season. My favorite characters are: Eddard Stark, Tyrion and Jon Snow.
Hey Joe – love the series and have read all the books, so I don’t really see why Season 3 will be so much more expensive than Season 2. I don’t really recall any massive increase in fantasy elements in Storm of Swords. We see more of the you-know-what that showed up in the finale of Season 2, but not a massive amount. I think its quite manageable. Season 4 might be just as expensive as Season 2, and what really made Season 2 expensive was the essential awesomeness of Episode 9 (or 19).

Hope this doesn’t go the way of ‘Now and again’, another show I would highly recommend, though it got cancelled after one season due to the cost of the show, which sucks because it ended on an awesome cliff hanger and now Ill never know how it ends.

Get Crusader Kings 2 and the Game of Thrones mod, if you love the series it’s one of the most fun things you can ever do. I’d really like to hear you opinion on both the game itself and the mod.
Fantastic series, partly filmed not too far from where I live here in N.Ireland.
I think we are safe for another few seasons.
A couple of mates appeared on the show as extras and they have been told to be on standby for future episodes.
That being said, getting as many people as possible switched on to Game of Thrones as we can, through websites like the AJS, can only help secure the budgets required to shoot the show and at a standard that does the books justice.
