i personally agree i do wish they would add choices into the game like in GTA and the customization like Saints Row some parts are fun like in the environmental kills, the slow-mo moments and chase sequences but some of that has been used before in other games so this game doesnt anything special so a 6/10 i believe is an appropriate score its not great but its not bad either
Sigh… Just can’t do it. I’ve honestly had enough of these GTA clone games. You can argue all you want that they are nothing like GTA, but you would just be kidding yourself as you try to choke back that tear. It’s just another big city kill this kill that bagel with a light scraping story flavored cream cheese. But this one has martial arts in it you say? So it has a gimmick that’s been done before, and just as poorly.
gotta agree doe bro it deserves a 8 out of 10 it could been more to it like upgrading your guns and all.^_^
The karaoke part killed me, hahah.
Dude, you weren’t angry at all during this review… what gives?!
But I kinda liked this game so I can understand … too much fun.
The chick song near the end, before the heavy metal… freagin’ addictive!
Anyways, love your reviews, keep up
Joe, i bought it on steam and i can say this game is awesome it deserves a 8.
First review I disagree with Joe; I have not played a GTA since Vice City, mostly because the gun combat was not my thing, so this was literaly all new to me. Most of Joe´s complaints seem to be that the game is too much like the GTAs derivative and whatever, but I found it to be really fun (especialy the combat) and engagin
I strongly disagree This should be A 8.0 or 8 out of Ten because of the interesting storyline and the GTA feeling in Hong Kong but with a little twist!!!!!!!
I’m actually from Hong Kong and though the Cantonese in the game is a nice touch, 98% of it was pretty bad. The only person with decent Cantonese is Jiang. I was aimed to get 100% for this game so before the end of the game I had pretty much everything. Personally, I think that the storyline is so predictable because it’s trying to pay homage to the traditional Hong Kong cop movie storylines; I do agree about the choosing sides thing though, it felt like the whole nightmare cutscenes didn’t really have any payoff. That said, I enjoyed the game a lot.
I got this when they knocked the price down, and tbh, I would honestly say it’s more of a rental. The story is good at times, but I agree with Joe, that giving the opportunity to choose sides and having two different endings would have made the game a lot better, or have missions where you have choices, the cop choice or the Triad choice, for example you do a mission where you have to find a guy, and when you find him you have two choices, keep him alive which will give you more cop experience, or kill him, which will give you more Triad experience.
It’s a good game, but I feel like it was rushed out because they knew bringing it out before September was the only way the game would sell.
I personally disagree with the score, the game is really fun and entertaining with the parkour, car jacking while driving, and much more, it is at least more fun to play than GTA 4. Now the story is kinda predictable but then again, not much games are original nowaday. They also could have put more martial art styles in the game (they’re releasing it as DLC’s but personally think that there should have been an option in the game for us to choose our fighting style like Saints Row 2 from the beginning rather than releasing them as DLC’s), the game itself should keep you entertain for a good 10+ hours, 20+ if you’re planning to do the side missions and find all of the collectibles. Overall it deserves at least an 7.5 or 8 out of 10 because it is such a fun game.
I fell in love with this game i enjoyed the game story so much it was like a movie to me.And the main character Wei Shen was like Bruce Lee but way more bad ass he become my favorite game character i hope they make sleeping dogs 2 with Wei Shen in it.Shame that it didn’t got higher score and ”bad ass” approval.
The cock fighting mini-game reminded me that quote:
“My cock will destroy all other cocks!”
This game does deserve a 8, but the points made are agreeable and interesting.
JOE this game deserves an 8 out of 10, i have lot of respect for you but this game deserves a better score nice review though
I’m getting this as soon as the price drops or as soon as i find it in the used section.
GTA IV was dull, even with all the content it had. After a while i just stopped playing the game because it felt like i didn’t know what or who i was playing/fighting for anymore. And something was terribly wrong with the story as well, just didn’t keep me invested. I just couldn’t care less for a Eastern European immigrant chasing the “American Dream” and killing people to get rich *yawn*… and I also had the overall feeling that the story just wasn’t going anywhere interesting… The story for Sleeping Dogs might be predictable, but it does seem like a much more exciting story than GTA IV….
Nevertheless, this doesn’t mean GTA IV was terrible, i just found it mediocre and unfinished. GTA San Andreas still has the best story and gameplay in the GTA series, in my opinion.
you are wrong
