I train kung fu and i failed to see any accual kung fu moves. The little fighting i saw seems more like common street fighting. But since i haven’t seen much fighting i can’t say for sure
Game looks to me mediocre, not a big fan of GTA alike games
Very good review again. But Joe, you should try the first game in this “sequel” – True Crime: LA. For me at the time of GTA being on top, this was the better game in terms of action flick.
Wasn’t “True crime: NYC” the first game in this series ?
no LA NYC SD
I bought the PC version for 37.50 of getgamesgo.com (Love PC gaming lol game goes 25% off the day after release) and the PC version is spectacular from a technical stand-point. The port is lovingly crafted with a full HD texture pack for the PC, good graphics options and even an in game benchmark to test your settings to see what runs best. If you have a chance and you have a beast PC (This game will wreck your machine if you try and run extreme AA and extreme ocular lighting and I have a gtx580 OC’d) this game is pretty as heck. I’ve only logged about 3 hours so far into it and I really am enjoying it. Most of Joes criticisms seem spot on but so far of all the reviews I’ve read/watched you seem to be the only one really bashing the story. I’ll have to judge for myself since I pretty much guarantee I’ll be playing this one for a while. I’m digging it.
Review Darksiders 2 please, and whatever happened to the amazing spiderman?!
let it go amazing spider-man let go we all know why
Lmao, the intro was absolutely amazing Joe, laughed out loud for real
Dear, joe you need to play the mazing spiderman the game the reason i want you to play this game is because one its a open world game and two even though you like superman better and i gotta admit he’s pretty badass YOU NEED TO GIVE IT A TRY PLEASSSSEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SINCERELY : Jacob Glover

Wasn’t very interested in the game to begin with, but it’s nice to see a review.
They’re starting to become rare Joe, heh..
I really hope this game has a sequel. I really liked it. Probably more than I should have. I hope they drop the cop thing and just make one where your a triad. That was the games strong point and I hope they capitalize on it.
Allright, Asian metal!
well im kinda bored i have finished all my games at lest 2 or 3 times so im going to get this looks good and could be fun i would love another sandbox crime underworld game im a big fan of the gta games so im throwing caution to the wind and im going to get it
Loved this review. Looooved it. The opening sequence was hilarious. Keep up the good work
As for the game itself, I won’t buy it. Even if it does look much more fun than I gathered from some written reviews. I’m just not a huge fan of these kinds of open world games. And hell, I still haven’t even played GTA IV or any of the Saints Row games.
thank you for saving my money
Yea I want to see Joe do darksiders 2, Joe dressed up as death would be awesome!
could you possibly review darksiders 2 soon?
joe plz Review Darksiders 2.
I was honestly excited about this but it looks like it turned out to be as average as I was afraid it would be. I’ll pass on it for now and maybe pick it up on the cheap in a year if I remember.
eally lost interest in this gme even before i watched your video , jsut over the last ten eyars the market has really gotten over flooded with this sort of game , rather it’s an open world or not , many games seem to play out think one mechanically and in the story. Ready for game companies to stop chasing hollywood’s tail to make a buck and for god’s sake take some chances again like the game industry did in the 90′s.
oh and is it just my imagination or does the character Emma stones play’s in this game look a bit like the miranda character from the mass effect series
(with different hairdo) ? and why don’t any of these “famous actor games” just model the damn character after the actor or actress that is voicing them .. it’d sure as hell would make them more sellable.
any way good review as usual joe. but meh a 6/10 . and its yet another action game based off some sort of film industry … i’ll pass unless i see it for ten bucks. Thanks for the thorough review.
Great Video Joe. I’m a huge fan of your reviews but I feel as if you got bit lazy with the actual review of the game itself. You failed to mention any of the game’s awesome variety of music or even credit the variety of gameplay and content the game has to offer. Asura’s wrath was rated a 6/10 with about 6 hours of gameplay. Although it was awesome, I still personally think you could have appreciated the approach that was taken with this game and how fluid the experience feels all through out. 7/10 would have been it for me. Your still the best reviewer Joe thanks for the vids!
I was on the fence about this one, and I think I will get it, but at a later date when it has come down in price a bit.
Thanks for the review Joe.
Solid review, Joe, though you mention at the start that with the increased team size and budget you’d think they’d be able to take more risks. It’s because there’s more money riding on it that they played it safe, I think.
Personally I think the game deserves a 7. I’m currenly 9 hours in and I’m having a real hard time finding major faults.
Joe’s main criticisms all seem to stem from story and characters and I’m inclined to agree. Functionally speaking, however, the game is rock solid. It’s fun and well polished. Unlike SR3 or GTAIV where I held certain activities with disdain, and only looked forward to certain ones, I’ve yet to encounter any aspect of Sleeping Dogs that I bemoan completing.
Having said all that, does a below average story really knock this game all the way down to “decent?” I do not think so.
There are only two elements to this type of game; Story and Gameplay. If one of those elements is bland or bad I would assume that the best rating it could get is ‘Decent’. Remember Joe doesn’t rate stuff like nearly every other magazine or website. Not every game gets an immediate pass to 8/10 just because it is playable. Joe actually uses ALL of the numbers 1-10. If joe gives something a 6 that means he thinks you should buy it AT discount level. Some element of the game does not warrant the full AAA $60 price tag. This time it happens to be story.
Joe totally ” Faith Hilled” at the end of the video…….awesome!~!!!!!!!
Awesome review Joe. I’m disappointed to hear that the story is so lackluster and I’m probably one of the few people who were let down that it wasn’t a True Crime game. True Crime Streets of LA is seriously one my favorite GameCube games despite being rough around the edges. I loved it because it had variety and went all out with its story. From a down to earth start the story gets incredibly bizarre. My favorite part being a segment where you sneak into a Chinese restaurant and you get into a fight with a zombie in the kitchen. After that you go into a tunnel underneath the restaurant and fight some more zombies, armed with shotguns and Uzis. You then enter a room with a platform dangling above a lava pit where you confront an ancient Chinese wizard and fight his concubines that you can defeat upper cutting them into the lava pit. Then you fight a dragon. That’s the kind of story I wanted to see in this game.
“Howdy! I’m from the health county inspectors! … okay there goes your A rating!”
True Crime was a good series and it was different because you play as a police officer instead of a criminal. This was the time were GTA 3 was release. LA was awesome because Nick Kang kicks ass and take names. I love when Nick says “aw man! This mess is gonna take one sh*t load of paperwork!” Then came the sequel NYC, NYC is not a bad game but too many bugs. NYC would have been good if there weren’t that many bugs.
I’m probably going to buy this game!
That’s racist!
LOL
I’m buying this.
meh i got skyrim, good review too bad about the story, now were is that diablo 3 review?
I’m really interested in this game, it obviously takes a lot of inspiration from my favorite game franchise, Yakuza.
Can you replay the game from the start keeping all unlocks? If so i think that would be really fun and give a lot of replayablity.
Great review Joe!
Very nice review. Thanks for beign honest.
Now, on to what Im really here for. Could you you & other joe could do a lets play of borderlands 2? You dont need to do a review as it will be exactly like borderlands 1. I just really want to see what kind of highjink you & other joe could get up to on that game. thanks.
The graphics look a little outdated i think.Other than that it looks very interesting!
360 and ps3 are outdated
Please tell me you have more sense than to bitch about graphics not being the most cutting edge. Graphics do not matter, they never mattered. What the hell has happened to this industry that developers have brainwashed people into thinking this way?
@Nymphonomicon
Graphics doesn’t matter? Good luck playing games with Doom 1 type graphics, then. I do agree that story and gameplay should be more of a priority, but graphics also needs to be there.
True to a degree, but then look at the success of games like Minecraft. Graphics don’t have to be the pinnacle of tech so long as they have style.
Graphics mean NOTHING unless your game has good gameplay. Ie. is it fun to begin with? I could point to probably 50+ indie titles that are graphically minimalistic and kick the crap out of some of the flashy AAA titles.
Why are we still talking about Doom 1 after playing games like Doom IV. Because Doom 1 was a great game and it didn’t matter how good the graphics in Doom IV were, it still had lousy gameplay.
6 out of 10 ?? its ok to make people laugh with your videos but leave the “review” side for professionals who knows what they’re talking about. this game isn’t a 10 but anyone with a minimal IQ would give this game a easy 8. i’ve seen every review and its getting so obvious that you not only give so biased reviews and if we look at pattern on your reviews you contradict yourself ALOT !! you give higher scores to saints row 3, just cause 2……. and this game a score like its garbage? LOOOOOL
lol obviously somebody doesn’t know what an opinion is.
And apparently it’s tied to a persons I.Q.
LOL, But if Joe ever had the balls to have a different opinion on something everyone likes like for Zelda for instance. Then these posts would look quite different i believe. The point is he contradicts himself if other reviews are taken into account. That is just not very professional. How can someone take these opinions seriously if they are full of holes. Some people think that the Twilight saga is better then the Lord of the Rings saga. That too is an opinion. would you take them seriously? Also to Joes defense, allot of these so called professional reviewers do this all the time but unlike Joe they are usually just paid off. He is probably just doing it unintentionally.
At least he isn’t reviewing another kinect game…
Dude, SR3 got 6/10 too. Also JC2 got 8 because it had better graphics, was more fun (chaotic way) and the map was HUGE compared to this game.
Sooooo, he gives some sandbox games higher scores, and since he didn’t give this one a higher score, he’s contradicting himself? Some games of a genre are better than others. Do you think Kane and Lynch 2: Dog Days should have been rated higher since it was an Over-the-Shoulder game like Mass Effect? Clearly, you don’t know what the word “professional” means.
I’m sorry WTF but I had to laugh a bit at your “leave the reviewing to the professional reviewers comment” Most “pro” reviewers have a built in conflict of interest based on their BFF status with developers and the millions they rake in annualy from ad dollars. Its an easy 8 if you pay enough to IGN and game informer. Besides most of the people here are here because they either like Joe’s review style or his tastes in games match their own. Therefore his honest opinion on the quality of games gives other insights into whether or not this would be a good purchace for them.
I agree with this. A lot of the “professionals” you talk about are biased or flat
out paid to give the game a good score. Joe is one of the view reviewers I trust because he’s so honest and tough with his scoring system.
with Joe 6/10 is a decent game score. i like angry Joe’s scoring system. keep them coming please!
You obviously don’t know how Joe reviews games. Most review magazines and websites rubber stamp an 8/10 to every game that is not seriously broken.
In Joe review land a 6/10 is still a game worth buying, at discount price. That means there is something holding it back from telling you to run out and buy it at full retail. Only when a game hits a holy trinity of visual, gameplay, AND story does a game even get an 8/10 and a badass seal of approval. When joe gives a 9 or a 10, it means the game is so good it enters your bloodstream and gives you the shakes every minute that you are not playing it. Games you play all day and dream about all night.
I for one think Joe is probably the MOST honest reviewer I have ever seen. He is totally not afraid to take an A+ title that a studio sent to him, for FREE, and call it a snooze fest if that is how he really felt about it. Good luck getting a review like that out of Game Informer.
Joe, your katakana is wrong… it should be ジョーリイ or ジョーリー
Awesome review joeeeeeeee…love Ur presentation…also, plz review
Darksiders 2 as i am very excited about it.
…sleeing dogs is owned by Square Enix?
kinda odd to see a mistake in this video considering the game has been nda for so long…
It is owned by Square bro, it took me like 5 seconds to confirm that (I went to Square’s Website and looked at several reviews that also stated it was owned by Square).
Clearly this review had some of the best choreographed fight scenes of our age.
^this
Looks terrible, my opinion, not my kind of game AT ALL !!!
You should get your asian shit right
good review but the 6/10 surprised me since you said so many good things about it
Great review, thank you Joe!
Thought it’s “Watch Dogs” oh well… =]
It’s a bloody good time if you’re into Honk Kong style cinema. The sandbox itself gives you a lot of things to do in the game and the story is quite enjoyable.
I’m disappointed a bit by this score, nonetheless now onto Darksiders 2 Joe!
I thought he would’ve compared it to the Yakuza series, since they both put an emphasis on the combat system in an open world and using your environment to kill. Idk I think it would’ve been a better comparison than GTA.
6/10 !?! TOO damn harsh, it’s like wtf did you expect
and that POS game Saints Row 3 gets 7/10
woa, something stinks
Rewatch SR3. HE gave it a 6/10
Hey Joe, just writing to point out that the link to the Blip video is badly cut and is redirecting to your Max Payne 3 review for some reason.
poor other joe ..geeez how many times got himself killed in the first few minutes
It’s funny how the other Joe improved sooooo much on his acting over time, almost getting as good as AngryJoe himself.
Excuse me,sir? WTF is “ジョーイ”? That’s Japanese, not Chinese!
You used Katakana, Japanese characters for representing foreign words, for the names at the start of your review. I hate to nitpick, but that’s hardly right for the review…
i love it, it feeds one of my guilty pleasures of kung-fu and cop movies
and im picking up my darksiders 2 copy today so excited for it
Hey, Joe!
Great review, man. I may check the game out soon.
Are you going to review Darksiders 2? I’ve been playing it all day; it rocks!
First! Great review, Joe, as always!
