Why I Love League of Legends
Some of you may know that in my free time I’m hopelessly addicted to the free to play MOBA game, League of Legends. Well its been a long time since my first video featuring the new gameplay mode Dominion (which I play exclusively) and I wanted to show you guys how much I’ve improved!

Hello Joe, you are doing great job in improwing your way of playing lol, just you need yo understand that laning phrase is not boring at all if you know how to play it( i mean summoner’s rift, and if you learn how to play it well, then start to play jungle, it won’t be the same game.). And the most thing now STOP focusing the tanks, try to stun the carry or ap casters.
As a follower-subscriber of your channel, (and because i love your angry reviews) AND as a LoL addict… I BEG YOU Angry Joe…. PLEASE…. P L E A S E… make an angry review of LoL … i cant wait how awesome it would be…
Are you still alive Joe? And why you don’t always make a review of the bigger games, like StarWars the Old Republic..
I hope you make one of GuildWars2
LoL for is for frustrated DOTA Players…:)
I stop playing because I was a noob. The game was fun but I could never get the hang of things. As soon as I was the top player, people just rushed me. On top of that, starting from the lowest level to then work my way up to the level limit and then having to do it over again didn’t seem appealing.
i sttoped playing LoL because ONE REASSON: TOO MANY NOOBS!i never get a good team just freacking noobs! i started playing it again and every time i go to the lobby i pry to god that i wont get a noob team.
yI agree half the players or children or noobs
League of Legends is great game but to many 7-12 year olds but in ranked teams the real game starts
Unless you get unlucky and get feeders, leavers, and trolls in your first ten ranked games. After that you are in ELO hell (from the enhanced ELO change in your opening matches) and can never get back out, so ranked becomes worse than normals.
Lol Seasons are too long.
i Actuaaly Play In the Middle East Section Are You Playing In the North Section of the game because i live in United Kingdom which is in the middle East ! SO pLease im A Legend too I Play With Nasus He Unleashes!
UGH….. frickin league of legends………can’t take it anymore.
You will see Joe, you WILL come to hate it too, IN TIME !! Its only a matter of TIME!!
(Way too many little bitching kids in this game and just insanely repetitive AND lots of gimmicky mechanics that are meante more addictive than actually fun, your brain simply don’t know th to be difference between fun and addictive at some point. Thank you for reading, you, guy, or girl, your nice, i like you, a lot.)
My post got fucked up for some reason, so i will just correct the sentence: lots of gimmicky mechanics that are meant to be more addictive than actually fun, your brain simply don’t make the difference between fun and addictive at some point.
I personally don’t like League. I play it from time to time because some of my friends do but I prefer the more hardcore/competative mobas (Dota2/HoN)
uh, right and a spider man review… the list just keeps on growing.
one more thing: that was a nice game, dont be so hard on ren, he made some good choices, just saying i would like to have him on my team more than i want these pot bellied little knee highs…. No i don’t think that… just saying kids these days…. little shits behind key board.
I noticed one thing as I watched this.
You are not focusing the squishy damage-dealers, like zyra and ez.
Its not something to rage over but it could turn quite a few figths if you focus the “easy to kill” damage dealers.
dam some one beat me to it.
yea get off league and get on this d3 review….
for real cmon….
one more thing: need a review on skyrim dawnguard and the ctd problem that plagues the skyrim modding community
one more thing: if you got time to play league then u got time to play summoners rift…. jeez dominions cool too, but alittle to short for me.
So how about that D3 review you promised?
Joe, I notice u like Dominion more than Summoner’s Rift… ( Arathi Basin PvP instance in WoW ). You should really give Summoner’s a chance.. it’s a much deeper experience than Dom.. Also that map will get u prepared for some Dota 2 or HoN which are the real competitive hardcore moba games.
^^ I like this guy. “that map will get u prepared for some Dota 2 or HoN which are the real competitive hardcore moba games.”
I don’t want to sound like a douch, i play LoL myself.
But as a reviewer you promised more games from E3 and other games to be reviewed..
This is your spare time, that’s cool. Things like this should go into online stream not onto a review website =]
Cheers mate! =]
Joe, u owe us at least the X-Com game play video + the mid game play =]
“I got some hands on time with the game, as well as some footage of some mid-level gameplay if you guys are up for it I can throw it in its own video and upload it so you can have a better impression of the gameplay. Just let me know.” =]]
Anyways love your work and every video you upload, hope for more.
Now that you have the basics down in MOBAS.. Try out heroes of newerth and dota2! Make a video comparing them : ) !! would love to see that
LoL is terrible.
Hey joe! Is this beta you are playing?
GG! Lol now thats a good game of League people. The kind of game where you scream at the top of your lungs cause of mistakes and scream even louder for all the badass moves you and your team pulls off. I’ve loved this game from season 1 and I hope it goes on forever.
It’s great to see more friendly people playing League of Legends these days. Usually it’s the trolls and the keyboard warriors that make up most of the League of Legends community, or any MOBA game for that matter.
Stay angry Joe.
same reason why i love this game, im on a brake right now, but hey if you wanna play sometime joe. let me know
Triple kill on dominion? Big deal do it on SR then brag
It’s not any harder to do in Rift if your group wins the group fight and you didn’t die in it. Whoever survives the group fight on the winning side of a floor wipe, in any mode, is going to get a row of kills or assists.
Ironically its harder to get large killstreaks in Dom.
Its much easier in SR
Somehow i got a strange feeling that Joe is paid by Riot to promote LoL….
Seriously doubt it. The guy just isn’t shy to make videos. I should add that League is already # 1 in the F2P market, so it’s not like they need videos like this one to boost their reception.
Why would Microsoft, Nvidia or WoW…. they are all #1, yet they do it…
If you love this game then wait till you try dota 2!
That’s like saying, “You like your great game, wait until you try a lesser one!”
In my opinion DoTA2 has a very strong learning curve and isn’t friendly to new players.
Having played League of Legends since it was in beta, I’ve since moved to DOTA 2 and haven’t looked back.
LoL is a fun game, I can’t argue against that, but in relation to DOTA 2 it simply doesn’t measure up. In LoL you build every character basically the same way, characters such as supports you can see carry, there’s no denials, there’s a myriad of other things that really bother me about it that just don’t exist in DOTA 2.
You also don’t see DOTA 2 changing how each character works every week like LoL does. That means you don’t have the constant overpowered character of the week. What’s even worse is that it can sometimes take month for Riot to get the proper fixes out to render a character fair again.
Also Joe, you and Amanda were ragging on that Renekton for being a bad player but in reality he was one of the biggest reasons you won that game. He’s an extremely beefy/high DPS champion who can initiate pretty well. Sometimes when you’d see him coming up on the enemy position via the mini-map, you guys would just sit back and let him initiate alone – which actually made you lose some of those fights.
I tried Dota 2 and found it to be far inferior to League. There are tons of things that league does better, not the least of which is that Dota is so unforgiving that if you take 2 seconds too long getting items, you have thrown the match (and there is no surrender so you have to sit through the whole thing even after you clearly lost or got a troll). Not to mention CC is so strong that it’s basically guaranteed death if you get stunned or pinned even once under any circumstances.
League is better than Dota 2 in almost every possible way. The only real upside you have over there is darker graphics, no anime ripoff characters, and a built in item Item Changer.(With League you have to DL and run a second program for that) But other than that, it is a an all around inferior product. I tried Dota 2 and was baffled at just how inferior it was. I installed it expecting actual competition against League. Dota 2 will never be as successful as League of Legends and probably not even put a dent into its fanbase. As a goth I liked the darker graphics, but that just wasn’t enough. I already had Frosted Ezreal, Morgana, Nocturne, Vayne, Mech Urgot, Mordkaiser, Overlord Malzahar, Reaper Karthus, Gothic Orianna, Shen, Mad Hatter Shaco, Darkflame Shyvana, several gangster skins; the list goes on and on. Point is I don’t need to move to a largely inferior game just for darker models.
League really isn’t as good as Dota 2. The pace of the game is far slower due to lanes being far more passive, early pushing is nearly impossible, and snowballing is far more prevalent. I’d agree that League of Legends is better as a game that can be played casually, but Dota 2 has a far better competitive scene and the game provides a much deeper experience. As for the lack of surrender, a game of Dota is much easier to come back from than League, as least in my experience. This is primarily because it’s actually possible to win team fights when you’re losing, as small mistakes from the enemy team often allow the losing team to gain an advantage. Trolls also seem far less common. In 400 games played I’ve found maybe 5 people that were actually trying to make our team lose. And yes, disables can destroy you, but that only happens when you make serious mistakes and the enemy team has good coordination, which is often a rarity. It mainly comes down to map awareness and being able to out play your opponents.
You guys are welcome to your own opinions, but please don’t insult a game that you’ve likely played 5 games of.
Neither game is “better” than the other, LoL and DotA both have strengths/weaknesses that appeal to different groups of players. I’ve played both of them for thousands of hours, and was originally became interested in LoL because I heard Guinsoo was developing it.
LoL has a lower skill cap while DotA’s is much higher, but DotA is a far more static game whereas LoL is constantly shifting. If you like getting “pretty good” at a lot of different things then LoL will be a more rewarding experience, but if you like the feeling of complete mastery then DotA allows you more mechanics and build/skill paths to further your mastery. Even though LoL is comparatively simple, both games have a huge amount of strategic depth, and in the end that’s the meat of any PvP experience.
I’ve been a huge DotA fan since Eul created the game, but nowadays I greatly prefer LoL. Maybe it’s just my aging reflexes or lack of practice time, but I find DotA to be far more work for the same amount of fun that LoL provides. This dichotomy exists in tons of genres; some fighting games are highly technical ones that afficionados/pros play (e.x. Guilty Gear) as well as the popular games with less barrier to entry (e.x. Street Fighter) but the trappings of the genre mean the strategies are often similar. I can’t stand the puffed up elitism that I see between people who prefer one or the other; the majority of players aren’t good enough to be “competitive” in the first place, so who gives a shit if LoL/SFIV is “less competitive” when any top LoL player could kick an average DotA/GG player’s ass anyway.
For the record, I’ve seen far more snowballing in DotA than in LoL; if your team doesn’t make a concerted effort to kill the hypercarry before they can spend their gold, then that player can crush your team and deny you from buying any meaningful items to stop them. In LoL the snowballing player/team will get richer from killing you, but dying doesn’t impede your ability to purchase items to stop them like in DotA. And if you’re gauging the number of trolls from DotA2 alone, all I have to say is r-o-fucking-l. The game is in beta right now, but when it was a WC3 mod there were so many trolls in public games that groups like TDA formed so people could play in private games where people were held accountable for their actions. Trolling and assholery is endemic to the MOBA genre, and from my personal experience beta testing 5 MOBAs it’s tame before launch and blossoms into a shitstorm afterwards.
tl;dr – Both games are good for different audiences, liking one of them doesn’t make you better than someone else because odds are you aren’t good enough to hit the skill cap in either game, and the MOBA community sucks balls no matter where you go. STFU and play plzkthxbai
Have you even played Dota in the last few years? The metagame is shifting by the week. Heroes that were considered weak a couple of weeks ago are now being played consistently in pro games.
And no, snowballing IS more prevalent in League.
http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=343759
Teams that manage secure even a small advantage by 10 minutes win in games 90% of the time. Losing gold on death makes snowballing even more unlikely, as shutting down a carry means that said carry will actually be shut down.
And for the record, I was and still am not trying to be elitist. It’s just quite sad when League of Legends players try to insult Dota despite knowing very little about the game. It’s even worse when they say it’s a bad game without even providing a reason. Apparently Riot is doing a good job at brainwashing their fan base.
hey joe if you are not gonna do a spiderman rewiev could you at least tell us if the game is good,or &%*@
relax man reviews arents easy to make there are many steps
i have played it through once, liked it! its better than the movie and after finishing it i wanted more!
i would say its worth 40.00 only cuz side quests were, dry, not boring but…. not to exiting if you want to do them over.
the original open world spider man was also bigger and better in my opinion this one doesn’t have venom or mystirio, and rhino and scorpion are not cognitive thinkers. alistar smithe is a good villain but… he isn’t enough for spider man.
the game did leave me wanting more. i dont regret buying it for 60 but its really worth 40.
What interface mod is he using in this video?
is not a mod is a recorder for league of legends go google and put lol recorder =)
So he isn’t actually playing with those changes, it’s just shown that way from viewing a replay?
Love your reviews Joe ,but why not more of them? The last weeks you only did Max payne…Maybe less interviews and more reviews…keep up the good work
Hell of a finish there, Joe.
LoL’s main thing that made it unique over other ARTS was it’s backstory and lore. Now that they canceled the journal I have no interest in the game.
Hate to sound like a fanboy, but Dota 2 is just a far more visceral and satisfying game.
Yes one of the most appealing things about Dota 2 is the faction vs faction setup and I like that in my PvP games. If there was 1 thing that would sell Dota 2 to me more than anything else; it’d be that. Being able to play the same hero on either side and even fight the hero you’re playing as takes some out of the mileage from League’s contest victory.
Joe, can you do us Dota 2 fans a favor? and try out to play that game and make a first impression video? It’s really fun also, even if the only mode available (As of the current beta stage) is only the standard “summoners rift” mode, 5v5 60minutes long games. but when it come’s to late game, you will have a fun time pwning those corporate moneybaggers.. erhm other players while still having that sense of losing or what not.
I suggest, if you’re gonna try it out, pick out Skeleton King first, he’s new comer friendly.
I really do hope you do a Dota 2 video in the future Joe!
You should play DOTA 2 instead.
Do a Guild Wars 2 video Joe!!! ;_;
How much longer until Dota 2 is out of closed beta and kills off this dumb game for kids again?
Don’t know but it won’t kill League at all, lol. Some players might move but I can practically guarantee you that most will stay put or soon come back in droves.
League fanboys are really in denial, even with absurd numbers for a closed beta, and tournament prize pools that also make League look like some fan made joke.
Also, Valve has such a bad record, I’m sure people will ignore it, if they aren’t one of the millions upon millions of people that played Dota 1.
WCG dropped League for Dota 2 also.
Could go on and on…
By the way angryjoe i would like to point out that mobafire has some top rated guides that just tell you absolutely idiotic things and also i would like u to instead of going for a build change ur build everygame depending on what u play and what items would benefit u the most!
Also plz play summoner rift! Even if u are lvl 10!
little advice btw, revive is op in dominion (with the mastery).
Not really but it can give you a powerful start due to dying at the start then immediately firing revive and running back into battle with the sprint and HP boost. This can allow you to take top by speed and brute force despite dying. This was my preferred strategy as Rammus, because rolling + revive sprint=faster than a speeding bullet and already back at top before others even revive. Combined with his armor, Heal, and the HP buff from Revive; he also was tough to take down.
mobafire.com guides are not good, you should checkout solomid.net or lolpro.com there are guides written by high elo competitive players. This is tho only for summoners rift as hardly anyone competitive plays dominion.
Indeed mobafire guides aren’t good. The items are always hit or miss while the runes are usually horrible for the hero the guide is written for. I only gave mobafire guides a glance on my first few weeks on the game. After that I realized I was already better/smarter than the people making the guides and would just handicap myself taking their advice.
solomid is typically a lot better, as its guides is generally written by high elo competitive players.(As Legoman said)
WOOT GO SPARTAN JOE!! nice triple kill on bot. though that game was a loss when those team fights didn’t work out during the end games, but happy victory to you guys. Just wondering was the ghostblade / omen activated during the match? couldn’t tell or hear it if it was used.
Joe… you need to step up your game and start playing the real league of legends by playing on summoners rift. Nobody decent plays dominion man.
Hi Joe!
Can`t you PLEASE try out Heroes of Newerth? “the best MOBA” around!
All heroes are free to play, you only pay for skins, announcers, taunts etc
They even got a Duke Nukem announcer by the real saint John !!
You have to check that game out Joe
Make a League of Legends VS Heroes of Newerth video later maybe?
or you know, DotA2 which is the all around superior MOBA
which is in beta for people who have played the first or say they did and were just LoL or HoN players who converted
DotaA 2 is a HoN clone.. A bad one at that. The Match Making is fricken horrible in DotA2, its insane how bad it can be. Broken heroes, stun locking.. Granted the items are good and intresting, that does not realy help it overall. (And ofc the vanity, but come on. Its so bad)
it’s funny because dota came first. Dota Allstars was a map mod for Warcraft 3. League of Legends came next. Then Heroes of Newerth. Dota 2 is basically just a much nicer looking version of the original dota. hon is a dota clone, not the other way around
Also Joe, you should arrange to have fanbase games. AngryJoes crew versus the rest of just inhouse games of AngryJoe and fans.
Would be awesome to see a couple of inhouses occasionally
Yes please do this
It’s nice to see those LoL plays, I’d like to see more of those, I’m sot of a LoL fan too but the playerbase is as awful as it gets.I know Dota has terrible playerbase but LoL goes on whole new level with it.
Yep, this is why I don’t play MOBA games, the communities for them are the worst I’ve ever seen.
My biggest problem with League of Legends is the lack of any real battle area variety. I don’t know about you, but playing in the same grassy forest swamp area over and over again kinda starts to wear on you after a while.
Also, last time I checked, some of the champions are a tad bit overpowered. But hey, it’s been a good amount of time since I last played the game, so maybe my info’s just outdated.
Either way, this game just ain’t my cup of tea. Glad to hear you’re liking it, though.
The thing with League of Legends is that the battle area isnt meant to be the defining variety in the game. The selection of champions and possible team comps are.
The game is awesome fun and changes as you yourself become more skilled at the game.
I’ve also made a lot of friends playing League of Legends and its really rewarding to play with friends.
As for the balance. Its a constantly evolving game with a constantly changing meta, malphite last month was ‘underpowered’ and never saw play. Now he is constantly banned and is ‘overpowered’. Also at lower levels of play champions like Akali and Talon seem overpowered but at higher levels of play they simply aren’t.
In short the game has very few ‘OP’ champions. I would agree with the fact that Jax and Zyra are OP at the moment no matter the meta but champions like Darius, Akali, Talon, Shaco and Kassadin aren’t OP in the competitive scene AT ALL.
I fail to see what your reason is for replying to my post in such an argumentative tone.
I said that the lack of map variety is a gripe -I- have with the game. Just because the map isn’t the “defining variety” in the game, it doesn’t mean I don’t have the right to get bored of the same old grassy fields map that gets played over and over and over again: if it gets boring for me after a while, then it does. I wasn’t trying to “convert” people into thinking alike with me.
You may be right about the overall character balance, though.
don’t really see the argumentative tone you’re talking about but I can see where you’re coming from. League added dominion about a year ago if you wanna look at different maps and SR has different seasonal maps (Winter still kind of hurts my eyes though) but the basic layout for everything is the same. They did also recently add the Proving grounds as an actual map that you can play in for 1v1 or ARAM (all random all mid) games that can only be accessed through custom games. I don’t really see many people play twisted treeline (3v3 map, 2 lanes) anymore but people can prove me wrong. Brand new heroes are usually broken on first week of release but are also usually nerfed to oblivion after the first patch.
Dota and Heroes of Newerth are much more balanced and fun to play. I used to play LoL a lot, but the game is broken.
I find this video hard to watch knowing it pre recorded obviously there a fastforward and rewind bar I mean really
Im a Twisted Treeline Hipster.
Rock on, Joe! Playing LoL, kicking ass and taking names I bet. It’s such a fun game and I’m glad they still update frequently.
Hey joe! when are you gonna post the game where you GOT A QUADRA KILL. – DXDATXD
Hey Joe, you tried Smite, I could invite you into closed beta, I used to play LoL after ya recommendation, then HoN, now play Smite the most. Smite is a third person moba where everything including ya auto-attack is a skill shot, you should check it out.
I never got into Dominion myself, mainly because LoL community left sour taste in my mouth, due to some drama. But it looked fun game, shame can’t get on American server to try ya guys.
But seriously Joe, Smite is epic and I’m sure ya’d love it.
I concur with the above statement.
Well, the “Smite is epic.” part, not the “I’m sure ya’d love it.” I’m not actually sure he would. I’m bad at guessing these sort of things.
Smite’s main problem is going to be balance. I love Hi-Rez Studios and the games they make (Tribes: Ascend), but their balancing is just plain awful. Smite seems fair right now because everyone is new to the game, and the selection of “Gods” is very limited, but as they add new Gods (something they HAVE to do to keep a player base) I can see them having a lot of trouble.
Also, HUGE fan of the MMO Grinder, keep up the good work.
Wow sweet Chaos commented on my post, but reason think he would like it, is because Joe seems to like innovations in game, and this here shows this. Oh btw does this mean you’re going to side missions on ChaosD1?
first
