The very definition of the word
How did an exclusive title get this kind of reaction?
Seriously, what the hell was going on? There’s no need for this: NSFW angry fanboy tweets.
That’s disappointing, but I do hope that some people act more logically, instead of having knee-jerk-head-exploding reactions. Take the developer’s word for it, this is going to be a good game to wait for, exclusivity be damned, enjoy every console if you can! Otherwise you’re the very definition of the word: Fanboy.

I have to disagree with you, Joe. I don’t mind if there are good games for other consoles, but having Bayonetta 2 to be only on the Wii U is a horrible choice, no matter how good the game is.
The original game was on the 360 and the PS3 only, and it worked fine on there. But on the Wii U, it will not get as many sales, since it is a mature game, and most mature gamers will probably not buy the Wii U. Not because of being a fan boy, but because of how stupid it is. $300 for a console that can play games the 360 and PS3 already could? Don’t get me wrong, Nintendo is doing their own thing, and that’s fine (the Wii did it’s own thing and did fairly well, and the games that I managed to play on it were really fun), but it just doesn’t seem right that the sequel of this game series should only be on the Wii U only.
Would that also severely limit the available consumers as well? Kids may try to get the game, but I’m sure even lazy parents won’t buy it for their kids when they see Bayonetta on the cover.
Now, don’t get me wrong, if something is exclusive, fine. I can deal with that, but this could cause the game to fail, and therefore destroy the series.
As an example… imagine if they only sold Halo 4 on the Wii U… then again, if that ever happened, people would buy a Wii U just to play Ha-
I’m stopping there before I give Corporate Commander any ideas. -_-
(And please don’t say that Halo is already like that, with only being on the Xbox. Let’s face it, more people are going to buy an Xbox than the Wii U. Well… probably.)
Joe is not the author of this article, Phill is.
I’m still whant a PC version of Bayonetta1&2!
Totally disagree with your article:
1) Wii consoles are not a choice for a gamer usually, because it’s not a good investment, since most games on Wii are just for plainly for children or not up the alley of a regular gamer person who would enjoy Bayonetta. If the Wii U would come with more games that would suit the needs of more “hardcore” gamers then maybe the rage would be unexcused. But in this case I gotta agree with the tweets. Nintendo made a bullshit move. If I was planning to buy Bayonetta 2 I’d feel insulted.
2) Bayonetta sold about 1.5 million copies, so that’s gotta provide a solid fanbase that would go out and buy the sequel on release, if it came out on a more popular console as well. Out of those 1.5 million people I’d bet you not even 10 000 will have Wii, and most won’t go out to buy a Wii U for just one game.
3) If you release a game on multiple systems, which receives very high reviews and has already sold over a million copies, and then you make the sequel exclusive just to have the chance to sell a few more of your own gaming system (I bet they won’t even sell more than 10 because of Bayonetta 2), then you are insulting everyone who went and bought the first game. Because this is emotional blackmail: “You want to see the sequel of that game you really liked? Well you gotta come and buy more products from me (Nintendo, the publisher of the sequel) before I can allow you to have it. Oh and bring lots of dollars. K THX BYE!”
4) I don’t disagree the game has the potential of being great, but that article of the devs’ answer to the critiscism just adds insult to injury. To sum up their article: “We think console gaming is suffering right now, so we need to ensure the continuation of our game. How to do that? We are releasing the game exclusively on a console that almost no one from our target audience has, because the console is also owned by our current publisher and it’ll be cheaper for them to publish it this way, as well as give them the chance to up their sales by 10 more Wii U’s sold. Oh and the game is gonna be awesome so come and buy”.
5) “enjoy every console if you can! Otherwise you’re the very definition of the word: Fanboy” WHAT? I don’t really like getting into this, but some people gotta understand this someday: There are gamers, who have grown accustomed to a single gaming system, for 2 reasons: a) they invested too much money on it (buying the system and its games, b) they don’t feel comfortable with another system’s controls (i.e. as a PC gamer myself I never got used to using controllers and never liked it). This applies to myself as well as other gamers out there. I am a PC gamer, but I don’t bear any hate for consoles. I just don’t like playing games on them. I never enjoy them as much as I enjoy my PC. The same goes for someone who grew up playing with an XBOX and someone who grew up playing with a PS and so on.
Besides, in this particular article, using that phrase to shun people who wanted to see Bayonetta 2 on more consoles, is total bullshit. Because those people are right. Nintendo and Platinum Games crapped all over them and then they get called the bad guys. I wonder what your article would look like if God Of War 1 was released on multiple consoles and the PC. But then God of War 2 and 3 were announced that they’d be released on the Wii or only for Macs or smth like that.
