Angeryjoe, im a fan of your show, but i think that you need to update your review on Planetside 2, SOE updated it. Lots of patches, and new vehicles, Alert systems, new weapons and also the graphics have been updated. The weapons have new firing sounds and new animations from switching from your pistol to your main weapon. certs are more easy to get and so much more. SOE is really trying to polish this game and they still are, every update and patch is very big for the game, so i think that you should update your review on the game.
I tried this out right after it came out and I did so much that I quit in disgust and haven’t been back since. At least the first Planetside didn’t throw you right into battle and even had a training area to let you try out all of the weapons and vehicles.
“Died” not did. lol
LIBERTY OR DEATH!
The game is awesome but since recent server merges it’s starting to become a little unplayable. I was on the Soltec server but we were forced over to Mattherson, which is cool cause we now get bigger battles, but kinda shit since my computer cant cope. I used to play on high settings but now I’m on low and I still get a ridiculous amount of lag. They’ve added a training map, empire specific rocket launchers and a rumble seat on the flash recently which is pretty awesome, but they’ve been putting out updates every day now for weeks to fix so many issues. I’ll be leading my boys to victory when suddenly the fucking game crashes. Ahhhhhh!!
Oh I so want to play this game but I so don’t have the time. It’s been sitting in my Steam lineup for a while now.
Thanks joe really enjoy your videos and i,m installing Plant siders 2 now. plant siders 1 had a lot of crashing issuse as well but was still a very good game . hope to see u on the battlefield XD
All of you looking to join the Angry Army, try a different outfit first, most people on angry army are just trying the game themselves. You will get a better first impression playing with a more formal platoon than a fan created one. As for those saying that they can’t run it, the minimum settings are not that much of a barrier for most. Now go make the TR proud soldier.
you must have an xbox360 or PC GAME controller hooked up to your PC because playing with Keyboard and mouse you need a TON OF EXPERIENCE
PC is easier than controller, it’s just that because it’s easier you really need to be better than your competition to preform well, if you’re getting into PC gaming and want to get better aim I suggest playing competitive games centered around pure skill with the mouse. CS:S (Counter Strike: Source) and BF3 (Battle Field 3) are a couple of games that you can try to improve your aim. But the last thing that you want to do, ever, on a PC game is plug in a controller in a FPS.
Please be aware what BoatNectar has stated is actual fact. Studies have shown that when gamers using a PC setup are pitted against those with a console setup, the PC gamers win by a non-trivial margin.
Unfortunately, the following link is the best I could find to support my claims at such a short notice.

wtf?since when its better to play a fps with a controler than with MK?lol you must be new on fps
Its alright with keyboard and mouse, just takes a little getting used to. I’ve put a good 400 hours in with just that and I’m pretty good at getting decent kill streaks now. Games got a long learning curve, so it just takes practice. Also playing around with some of the mouse settings and key-bindings makes a hell of a difference.
I really love this game though there are problems in it. Even so, SOE knows of these problems and are trying to fix it. There’s also a road-map in which allows players to vote for future features. Its all democracy on it, there are likes and dislikes. This is the site for it: http://www.planetside2.com/roadmap
Many of the top items on the roadmap list are items the SOE dev team claimed would be ready for launch. I played PS2 through beta, and dropped it once I saw its development was going the way of T:A. If this roadmap plays out, I might pick PS2 back up in a few months. If such is not the case, it’ll be a shame that another IP has been exploited for a quick buck.
Yeah what sever anyone?
I can haz for free? Yay!
Good, review. I am downloading this now!
What server is the Angry Army on and how do I join?
angry army is the TR on Waterson, there are threads in the forum on how to join
i wish it would run on my computer….
i will like to sighn up pls
I say, i mint reconsider to play this game. Including play along side with the angry army.
Overall Great game good if you have a lot of pc gamer friends if futuristic sci-fi isn’t your style try ww2 online for a simillar experience but other than that great game definitaley worth the wait during the free downoad and instalation
can i join the army
Same here.
i was wondering if i could be in your angry army for planet side 2
AngryJoe great reviews as always but can u tell us wich server do u play ???
great game loving it.
solo play gets a bit boring alright: tip is to stick with big groups of people for max fun and convince your friends play (or buy new pc’s to play)
Graphics are great, however something seems a bit off about them, just can’t put my finger on it what it is.
I’d say you could have a good 20 hours play before you head off to a different game if you play with no friends but for a free game that is great. It’s also a great game if you want to play something full of action that you can play in small doses. If this was a pay to play i’d say it would get a 6/10 but a free to play 8/10 for sure. hope to see more free games like this hitting the spotlight.
Thanks for the review joe and the team, this game would have passed me by if it wasn’t for you guys. keep up the great work!
Sean
i would love to play this game but my pc couldnt handle it
Joe, there is a ton more content in the works for PS2. There are still 7 more continents from the original game that are being worked on, barren continents that players will be able to establish their own bases on, the flying supercarriers, seemless transitions between the continents (AND SEA/ISLAND COMBAT), and an NPC faction. All of this is stuff and more is stuff that John Smedley has confirmed is in the current 3 year plan for this game. I was a huge fan of the original planetside and ran an outfit for awhile so maybe I am a bit of a fanboy, but as much as I see lacking right now in PS2 (and believe me there is a lot lacking) I can see that it’s headed in the right direction. The fact that the Dev team is so close with the community is the best sign that this game is going to only get better with age.
I haven’t had as much fun (or grief) since the days of MOH:AA. A big problem with a lot of recent games I’ve played is that it’s difficult to connect with other characters and get things rolling socially; too often it feels I’m a one man show in a MMO world. PS:2 makes getting into a squad, working and communicating with others a very simple and natural task. It does a great job at that and a very good job at handling massive battles over territories. Your complaint about the slowness of acquiring CPs is understandable but only to players who tend to invest a few months on a game. I played MOH:AA for 5-6 years and FFXI for 8-9 years. If the community is there and the gameplay is good, I’ll stick around for the long haul. Mentioning FFXI, I’m very much used to slow progression. Of course, you could help fund the developers a bit and buy some SC, so that way you could focus most of your CPs into things which only CPs can buy, like stat/utility improvements, and spend $20 or $30 (still far short of the cost of a new release title) and buy yourself those 3-4 weapons/items that just cramps your style not to have.
You hit the nail on the head with this game review, every bad thing you stated wrapped up is the reason I stopped.
