Ninja Theory fucked up Dante, but Capcom will see to it that the fanboys’ money is drained before he’s un-fucked up.
Sighs capcom again seriously
Capcom has always been horriable and will always be
I will never understand what is so terrible about the new Dante or what is so great about the old one.
No matter which hairstyle, Donte still looks like Tameem!
Decent hack and slash game.
But that is not to be expected from a DMC title.
Oh wait this is a reboot DmC.
this could actually be in the game
nothing else to say but “@#$% Capcom”
It isn’t capcom that fucked Dante. Ninja Theory did it.
Actually it was Capcom that insisted a drastic change on Dante.
at least there is no on disc dlc
DmC bug compilation. Ranging from boss battles, unexplorable areas, missing weapons, dual audio in cutscens, invisible walls, etc

Also remember the said worst game of DMC, DMC2 has no bugs in the gameplay or else it would be in youtube.
hahaha
At least look at the other videos in that channel before talking shit… It has a glitch compilation of god of war, uncharted, red dead redemption, assassin’s creed and many others, and the MG rising is coming up. Glitches mean nothing, every game is full of them if you know where to look
He was a douchebag to start with! Why is everyone claiming they ruined a “Classic character” that has ALWAYS been a complete asshole? They didn’t ruin shit, they just put a shirt on him and changed his hair. MUST I remind you of DMC2? Seriously… don’t make me do it.
You know Capcom makes a lot of stupid moves, but I personally like the new Dante.
I didn’t like new Vergil as much, but taking previous games aside(which most people base off of, though for good reason) I think he is a good character and I actually hope to learn more about him in further games. I just hope Nero doesn’t make an appearance.
of course hes not a bad character but comared to the old dante hes not that cool.
On top of that hes presented like he was the start of other games ike if we already knew him
Stupid Hats?! who the heck do they think they are, Valve? XD
stay toned folks next time Emo Dante will travel to CANDY LAND!
feacturing Pyro!

IMO there is no hope for Capcom.
They have a greedy monkey in the driver seat that only listens to cash.
i hope capcom will not continue this
O_O
He was kind of a douchebag to start with.
Kind of like going from a casual douchebag to an active douchebag. Not much of a change, I’m angrier about Vergil who has turned into a sadistic baby killer.
This man went from refusing to attack people from behind because he thought it cowardly and despising guns because the were not the weapons of warriors to sniping pregnant women, no I don’t care about the context he did it in it was still a fucking pregnant woman.
Total fucking 180 on the character!
Dante? Medium Douchebag to Big Douchebag.
Vergil? Honourable (power hungry and ruthless) warrior to Pregnant woman sniper.
im not going to defend the whole “shooting at the back in a dishonorable way” thing because even under those circunstances of being outside Limbo hiding his powers, it still something very out of character and i disliked that scene too.
But, bid you see that fucking thing?! is a freaking giantic demon baby monster thingie! i would shoot it with a rocket launcher and then burn it to ashes, and then nuke the ashes again just to be sure o_O (of course still being a dumb idea doing it in front of the big ass Daddy-demon who can warp reallity at will)
better story then twilight
Well …
aww crap fan boy alert
you know it strange because the new dante isnt that good but he raised the awarness of DMC devil may cry
This comic was spot on. Good job!
I usually don’t comment since the jokes are less miss and more not my taste, but seriously? This was just pathetic, I haven’t heard of this game having on disc DLC and I’m sick of people harping on the new Dante. If you’re going to make a joke, don’t just mash two old and annoying ones together.
Well its not on disc but they do have DLC for classic look Dante, and from the rumbling the majority of people reporting in about the game hate the new Dante as a character, and even having to be associated with him.
So I guess just accept people’s opinions as an opinion unless you think we shouldn’t accept yours.
That is bad marketing from Capcom(again), but it isn’t content you already own and have to pay for. when someone takes one step forward, as Capcom has tried, you don’t assume the worst and make bad assumptions, do you?(As my teacher used to say, “You can’t spell assumption without an Ass”) Here’s what I say to people who can’t get over the look. Play a different game if it bothers you to the point of blasting the game. Joe was mature with his review of the game, but this is just embarrassing. Did you think the plunger and bald head were funny? Not to mention the rest of the joke is nothing new against the game, just more of the same. I have had it up to… h… no… he… HERE!(Yes, I got it!) I’ve had it up to hear with the new Dante complaints! Wait… You can’t even see my hand that’s up to here, can you?.. SON OF A B…
P. S. Do I really have to disclaim that this is an opinion too?
Sorry, I tend to ramble.
That was pretty weak.
The old school Dante is like Spiderman, even though tragic things came in his life he never got angry at anyone or anything, he did not curse or just be a total dick the whole time. Also older games have FREE UNLOCKABLE COSTUMES! Now you buy them! You cannot go wrong with free things in a game. You can go wrong alot with DLC aka Disc Lock Content.
Fuck, it all makes sense. I mean, Ninja Gaiden was a similar franchise with unlockable costumes, punishing difficulty and it was a story about a ninja getting revenge. Look at it now.
Well, technically 3 had him as a dick, but he changed his tune and the struggle with Vergil as he tried to stop him helped elevate his character right before Lady herself managed to help change him. And also the whole Arkham thing too.
True, Headbanger Tom changes his tune here, but it just doesn’t resonate all that well with this game. Carebear Craig is perhaps even worse with that forced twist at the end.
I would play the crap out of this game if you could don caps TF2 style
The plunger is a huge improvement over his actual hair and is probably cleaner too.
The old Dante sucked major. Get over it fanboys!
fuck, screw dante being a douche, looking at god damn vergil the demon baby killer! worse is that a dark part of ya sympathizes with the action, te little shardo f evil in us all, makes ya sympathize with his infanticide. at the veyr least you can see where he was coming from.
….sighs. does anyone realize taht this is the first we see of dante? like, at all? that he may well become the demon slayer we know?
and i will say it know. This dante is BETTER as a designed character than the old one. i know the old dante was lovable but……. his character was as thin as tissue. now we have a origin for his cynical behavior, potential for story that did not exist before in devil may cry. actaulyl god damn meat to him, unlike the old one.
though i will be fair, the rest of the character do suffer. kate has little personality, but i an pissed at fucking joe for belittling her significance. and vergil of the old series was a much more enjoyable charact.er though this vergil fucking HORRIFIES me. he might actually be the most dangerous villain, or potential villain, ever to be shown in devil maycry so far. he killed a baby in a womb, and let the mother live jsut long enough to realize this, all more for firgid, icy revenge over the actual plan i think.
Old Dante is way better than the new one. Yeah, he wasn’t very deep but that didn’t matter because he was an enjoyable character. He was in it for the same reason you were. To have fun. New Dante sucks because they took that away from him. Even if his new look didn’t suck, he’d still be horrible because he’s a complete prick. The story does have potential but I don’t care about the story if the characters in it are stupid or boring.
He was “in it” to have fun? By “in it”, you his job? The job that involves killing demons? Facing horrifying creatures, terrible odds to die or something worse than that, in daily basis? Seeing innocent people die in the crossfire? He did THAT for fun?
That’s EXACTLY why I always hated the character.
He obviously has his reasons to do what he does and has his serious moments but for the most part yes, he has fun doing his job. That’s why people like him and there’s plenty of popular characters like that too. Nobody ever calls out Deadpool or Spider-Man for being silly even though they have really dark pasts.
Okay, correction: while Dante does do fighting for fun, there are other reasons, namely he cares about humanity and wants to prevent the death of others. He never gained satisfaction of killing humans. Hell, not killing humans was his policy, Sanctus an exception since he was more demonic than human anyway, along with those knights.
Moreover, he actually did work as a mercenary, but he worked with people. If they were too poor, he would adjust the price to make him affordable, or sometimes even do it for free if the situation was dire, and if they were rich, well, the guy needs a lot of money to run his business; he was in massive debt to Lady in the anime.
DmC had a good idea going, but the writers completely screwed it up to the point of bad fanfiction territory. You want your audience to like your main character and/or sympathize with him from game ONE, not future installments. And as I said in my article, if I don’t care about the player character I play as, what is my motivation to play?
And surprisingly, Headbanger Tom here isn’t even my main complaint. I think I ranted more on Mundus.
But starting a charakter with flaws allows for charakter development over time. I would guess that Ninja wanted to embrace the potential to develop the new Dante character over a couple of games to give him more life and realism. This would allow for a deeper story and would generate more intrest in things to come in the storyarc.
Starting out with a static charakter and just redo the same story slightly interrated doesn’t seem very attractive to me by todays standarts of storytelling.
I just wanted to add this to the discussion, please take no offense.
No offense taken. It’s true that giving your character flaws allows them to develop more over time but they don’t need to be this flawed. Even guys like Superman have flaws despite being held to such high standards. The big problem is that they’ve done too good a job at making him an asshole. He might end up more like old Dante at the end but it’ll most likely be a really half-assed story. Coming up with a believable character arc isn’t impossible but this is Capcom we’re talking about. Watching Capcom write a story is like watching a blind guy play darts.
Hey now, there’s no need to insult Blind People that way. Some of them are actually pretty good at it.
I totally agree, a couple years ago story telling was not always what people looked to. In truth when I was younger story didn’t matter to me as long as I was having fun, but being older I have a serious appreciation for these types of characters. Old Dante was cool and flashy but man he did seem just empty like he was going through the motions but just not really feeling anything. The newer version has quite a few flaws and even came across as just unlikable but towards the end of the game I started to feel for the guy. Having to be that different and alone for so long, yeah anyone would turn into that…but it’s being able to change into something better that made me admire his conviction.
Honestly he was really empty as a character. Yes he did have a flare and style all his own and he had some of the best jokes but…he felt like the cool kid in 80s movies. You see him on screen for some scenes then nothing, and later he just changes…its so empty that you can’t relate. New Dante is in the beginning just not that great but he has growth, something no other DMC game has really shown. (Spoiler Alert!) In the end he kinda ends up like his DMC 3 self, he knows what he wants to do and now has a purpose and reason to do it, but please please please…STOP THE COMPARISON! Ninja Theory had to make a unique character, it was CAPCOM’s choice not theirs, but they make the best with what they have…I play DMC not for the look or costume I played to slice and dice some demon ass and thats what I got, not the best in the series but a solid step forward
I like how the funny hat is so funny, even Dante is smiling.
In Ninja’s defense, they wanted Dante to look similar.
Capcom is the ones who pushed them into creating The New Dante, even though Ninja knew it would get a negative response.
Oh, Bald and Chin Down, Eyes Up.
Genius.
The perfect badass look.
