Sadly it wasn’t SCARY SCARY, but it does give you an unsettling feeling sitting in the theater, watching this movie. and the fact this was edited to garner the R audeince, so who knows? maybe Raimi’s full cut will be seen in Home release unrated and unedited?
BUT!!! Needless to say, it did succeed. it’s getting ALOT of praises even for being a remake/reboot…AND it has officially CPR’d all of Evil Dead. We’re getting a Sequel to this one, an EPIC return of Army of Darkness with ITS Sequel AND …shock of shocks, have a seventh movie in total bring in the narratives of the Reboot AND the original collide.
Evil Dead is back, you primitive screwheads!
Oh! That looks intersting! I should check it out with my dad! We love horror movies
And Evil Dead was his fav in the old days XD
sorry for the multiples.
Same with the Dawn of the dead remake wich was killer. In the original …..where were you when you first saw a mans guts get ripped out?
3rd all comedy
all 3 were top notch low budget. they are the classics
1st evil dead all horror
2nd horror and comedy
I am incredibly excited for this. It looks like a genuinely scary horror movie. Also I don’t mind that it’s not intentionally funny. Besides, the original didn’t try to be funny, the 2nd and 3rd ones did.
i don’t like that Bruce isn’t in it.
Nnyyeah…
But Joe you are missing the point. The Evil Dead series was mostly comedic mixed with horror and violence to add to the effect.
This just looks so generic grim/dark as Hollywood does nowadays. The thing I want from an Evil Dead movie is to entertain me.
Leave the scares and frights to someone else.
they should have skipped straight to the army of darkness remake… oh well
i love the evil dead and i try to be exited but for some reason i dont. maybe it because this movie will take itself to seriously unlike the old ones that had some humor in them or maybe it because i cant imagine an evil dead film without Bruce or maybe its because i sick of all the remakes, or the book/game/comic based movies. when was the lest time that Hollywood made something original.
Man… as both a lover of horror movies and someone who has a severe phobia of vomit, life is rough. Thank you Joe for warning me about the throw up! I hope everyone else enjoys the movie on my behalf!!!
I think this looks freaking awesome! ive watched this trailer like five times and was thinking the same thing till I saw the practical effects.
The only thing that ruined Mama for me was the ending. It was kinda dumb
it just seems like the humer isn´t there ?? strange since the older evil dead is all about that ?? anyway the gore looks promising and the most important part no CGI i hope. im not gonna get my expectations op all the way as i did with many other movie sequels, prequels and remakes, ive been way to disapointed the last few years, but i still cant wait to watch this movie im open minded and im ok for new ideers but please dont fuck this up !!
super never get scared
I am currently way too scared s***less to een consider watching this movie -_-
ey Joe… Joe… what’s your opinion on J. J. Abrams as the director of the new Star Wars? All fears about Disney seem to get confirmed. We will probably get a flat déjà-vu of the old movies mixed with whatever new blockbuster (or commercials) will have convinced Abrams and the producers around the time.
Very excited for Evil Dead. Finally looks like a good horror movie. A fan to the end, even enjoyed Drag Me to Hell because it was just FUN! This looks like the old formula of it’s fun to be scared!
Looks promising but i am still concerned about the “tree rape” scene, even sam Rami said he regreated putting that in the original. But over then that looks good i dont think it will be as good as the orignials, but still good.
Wow! This actually looks pretty awesome. I’m a little surprised, but rightfully hesitant. Still, I’ll give it a go.
Did you get a chance to see Insidious, I think it’s the scariest movie of the last decade. And I’m really eager to see the remake too!
Is Javier Bardem one of Joe’s friends?
This movie will be awesome, it looks exactly like the first movie, but with a big budget. People seem to forget that the first one was intented like a true horror movie and only remember Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness.
just curious, why dont you review halo or call of duty?
Because he wouldn’t be able to tell you things you don’t already know. Maybe they don’t interest him, or perhaps he just wouldn’t have anything to say that other haven’t already.
he revied halo 3 odst and halo reach
Indeed we need the old-school horror from when we grew up.
Evil Dead was my first horror movie as a kid and i can remember feeling my heartbeats throughout the bed when i went to sleep that night from being so scared.
The crap that´s made now with some Cgi-mutated cryo hamster that hunts random people in a wood called “the woods of blood and death and other scary….stuff” is to ******* old. The only scary part of it is that it´s actually made.
I have hopes for this remake! Bringing Jason and Pinhead and i´l see you at the theater!
If Bruce and Sam are working with them then it might be good. The trailer is better than I expected but it looks more gorey than scary. The practical effects do look really good though and I agree that they just work better than CGI sometimes.
I have always considered Evil Dead 2 the perfect remake of Evil Dead (i know its not, but it may as well be), so I was seriously dubious when I 1st heard about this new version.
But that trailer… its got me excited I must admit. Just hope the trailer isnt the best part like so many films over the years.
Keep up the good work Joe, we here in the UK love us some ANGRY!!
i hope this movie is good i loved the last tree
Hell yeah, Joe, huge Evil Dead fan, I’m hoping they don’t fuck it up. The second, longer Red Band version is the better one, and gave me hope.
I like the flower pattern wall paper boarder around your walls joe…Goes well with the green screen color wall paint.
Also, Other Joe kinda looks like Mario Lopez. That’s not a bad thing…*cough*
I am on the fence because I don’t trust hollywood at all. But I have only seen maybe two trailers for this film so I can’t really give a full opinion yet. I love all three Evil Dead films (although I only own 2 and Army of Darkness) and if they can really recapture the atmosphere of the first film, kudos to them. The first film had no budget, was one Raimi’s first “big” films, and was all practicle effects. That is still one of the creepiest movies I have ever seen, lol. There Raimi was trying to scare the piss out of you and he succeeded. If a big budget production can actually get that (and a bit of Raimi’s messed up humor) I will be happy. I will actually try the recording of my reaction (may have my brother Timdiana join me for it as well) when I can. I hope people enjoy the film or at least get an interest in the Evil Dead series. I am Maleficent5 and this trailer has been judged. lol
Dat Face
No Bruce? fuck that!
Joe, Have you watched Season 1 and 2 of American Horror Story? That’s a really great, creepy, twisted, show.
By the way, any chance of getting a honest review of Django?
I love the Evil Dead series, so I HOPE this movie kicks ass. I will however curb my enthusiasm until I have seen this movie. I do agree that I would rather have practical effects, UNLESS it cannot be accomplished or would cost to much to try and do without CGI.
Damn you Evil Joe, you always manage to get me interested in games I had not interest in (even when you review it with a bad score) or retro movies or franchises I didnt particulary care for…downloading now the Evil Dead trilogy to see what got you all psiqued about
Haven’t you seen the movies yet???? We are gonna eat your soul!!!!!
of course i’m gonna go see this! this is gonna be effin epic!!
I should have recorded my reaction to the trailer xD
Looks promising. The girl peaking out of the trap door game me the shivers.
*gave
*you’re*
I think the remake -could- be good, but the thing is that I really don’t think the movie should be remade. They’re never going to top the originals and I don’t know if I could even enjoy the movie from another style. I personally don’t like horror movies in general, honestly, unless the monster balances out its psychopathy with comedy like in Army of Darkness. Maybe that makes me unsuited to judge this movie because I prefer a lighter kind of horror, I don’t know. If the original crew condones it, though, I don’t see anything wrong with going ahead with it.
I think a remake is justified here. You’re right, it probably won’t be better than the originals but Evil Dead was a cult film. I’d be willing to bet that a lot of mainstream moviegoers don’t even know what Evil Dead is. A remake gives a new generation a chance to discover the series and potentially experience the originals.
Looks great,if there’s a Bruce cameo I’ll cry
