My brother suggested I may like this web site. He used to
be entirely right. This put up truly made my day. You can not consider just how so much
time I had spent for this information! Thank you!

I’d give Kick-Ass 1 a 9/10, and Kick-Ass 2 a 7/10. I personally thought it was a really fun movie, although the fight scenes weren’t as good and it wasn’t as funny…
fuck off
I agreed with some of the negative points made but I think you missed out some of reasons why this film deserves more credit.
It’s been a while since I saw kickass (which I loved) and perhaps I couldn’t use it as a reference point. Anyway:
Agree:
1) Perhaps on reflection the fighting scenes were better in the first film though I didn’t notice when watching.
2) The break up with his girlfriend was not consistent with the context of the last film (though it didn’t bother me – I do understand how it might others)
3) Hit girls one-liners lacked punch. (Though I felt the film meant it to be this way as she is doubting her retort in one scene – perhaps without her father to guide her she has lost her way a little – it’s plausible)
Disagree
1) you don’t give the director enough credit for what they did well. The scene in which mother Russia takes out 10 cops is perhaps one of the most creatively violent scenes I have ever seen. Also the comic cutscenes and subtitles were executed with style.
2) The night bitch relationship was justified and had context. He’s an oversexed teenage boy. He’s her hero. They clearly are enjoying the fantasy of their alter-egos. Kick-Ass is a ‘lame’ superhero – it makes sense that his teen urges would overcome his heroic values. (Having a go at the actress’ breasts was a bit harsh)
3) I felt his party of heroes were given sufficient backstory. You couldn’t take the limelight off the three main protagonists or it would dilute the plot. I felt their brief backstory implied a lot while leaving enough to the imagination. To be honest I thought they were great!
4) The subtext of the plot was smart and sophisticated like the first film. The blend of conceivable reality with outrageous comic elements. The use of modern social media giving it a reality tv hook. A fantastic parody of the superhero genre every step of the way. The indulgently entertaining and creative superhero/villain/league creation story contrasting with the ‘what would actually happen if you tried this shit for real’ root story.
– also, I have never read the comics so can’t comment on deviation but deviation is an unfair criticism (not that you made it – just general comment). All comic stories are told and rebooted. That’s what’s great about comics – they follow an age-old tradition of story telling in that the story can be told again and again but whoever tells it will bring their own personality into it.
I think it’s deserving of a score close to the original
Love your show by the way – even if I disagree this time.
I don’t care what all the reviews say.
kick ass = 10/10
kick ass 2 =8/10
I might have to watch these someday but…fuck Jim Carrey he used to be my child hood hero but hes not even funny anymore, does a bunch of sub par shitty movies making millions and millions and then there is the fact that he ditched a movie due to the stupidest reason ever….Fuck Jim Carrey I hope he stops acting soon he just sucks.
Lol just stick with kat williams 🙂
The only thing i didn’t like about this movie was the obvious CGI.
still a good movie
I agree honestly if you compare the sequel to the original I’d say 4/10! They changed writers and directors for the sequel so there were countless inconsistencies! Katie was kind hearted and she knew about Kick Ass but she magically forgets everything in the sequel! Marcus Hit Girls adopted dad knew about Dave and that was why he sent her to his school…. Hit Girl fought with Butterfly knives and was much more skilled then the fight scenes in the sequel gave her credit for.. Dave’s father to me seemed more laid back then he was portrayed as in this movie.. Lastly DAVE! They messed up Dave in the sequel he becomes a cocky arrogant dick who abandons his friends…. In the first one he was a good hearted morally just person who wanted to help people and protect the innocent. I’m just going to pretend the sequel never happened…
bullshit Joe..It was a really good movie…And had everything I wanted to see in a superhero movie…
It was a 8/10…You gave the conjuring 9?and it sucked
The way hit girl handled the girls in the comic was way more in line with how I imagined Hit Girl would handle them in the movie. However, that didn’t happen and I was very pissed how they neutered my favorite character. I would have prefered her hanging Queen bitch from the top of a building instead of what she did in the movie.
I wish they kept Jim Carrey’s character instead of killed him off. I know he does in the comics too, but I seriously liked his character. He was too short lived.
I didn’t understand the Night Bitch love story arc at all either. She doesnt even stay with him at the end. It seemed like a total waste of time and I think it would have been OK if they kept katie around for the almost rape scene because in the comic she was the intended victim. It would have been much more intense if they kept her there. Then they can break up Kick Ass and Katie if they choose because who wants to be dating a guy that makes her a target for thugs? It would have been a better cut off. I feel they were going in the direction of pushing Mindy onto Dave. Ewwwww.
They are not even close to the same age. PLEASE DONT MAKE MINDY FALL FOR DAVE!! PLEASE!! I just want her to be an innocent, blood spilling, crazy, death machine! I dont care what the movie did…you dont watch a shitty boy band video and all of a sudden go boy crazy. Thats just awkward and insulting to the character.
I agree with you 100%. Jim Carrey’s character was pretty cool. I liked his adaptation name better than his comic book version. I think when I saw Mindy going through the boy crazy faze, it felt awkward and insulting to the character.
The Night Bitch romance was completely unnecessary and Katie should have stayed as Dave’s girlfriend. I also feel that relationship between Dave and Mindy was really stupid and awkward.
ادخلو في فسي بوك
looks like a rental.
Joe, I completely disagree. And for the record, just because someone doesn’t share your opinion, it does mean their head is lacking a brain.
I liked Kick Ass 2 way better than the first Kick Ass. I do agree the fights weren’t shot as well as the first Kick Ass but I liked them none the less. I also felt the story was better. Escalation of two opposing groups was essentially the plot of the second Christopher Nolan Batman movie. I liked it in and that and I liked it in this movie. I also liked the characters more in this movie because I related to them more. Hit Girl had to go to school, like a normal kid. Kick Ass met a group who pretty much couldn’t let go of what happened to them and wanted to make a change. Kick Ass and the Mother Fucker made choices about the man he wanted to become. I felt each story was much more relateable than the last movie… but that’s just me.
My experience of the movie though was exactly that. I walked in expecting almost nothing and I got so much more. I’m not going to hate on people who experienced the movie badly for whatever reason. It’s all relative.
So, you liked it because it was “essentially the plot of the second Christopher Nolan Batman movie.”? Also why does Hit Girl HAVE to go to school, she seems pretty intelligent already, and didn’t her father have tons of cash? granted i havn’t seen it yet. lol
Hitgirl wants to be a normal teenage girl, which is way she went to school.
*why she went to school
One of my favorite films around. While i missed seeing Hit Girl kick ass (irony) as much as she did in the first one, it looked at things far more realistic than the first one did. Yes i realize it was not much like the comics but nor was the first one so don’t try to argue against that. Also i am glad it wasn’t like the comics because the comics around this time, made no sense despite claiming they did. Two of the characters in the comics were like Greek gods despite supposed to be just two parents that lost their boy. Why were their two parents as strong, physically fit, and gorgeous as greek gods with matching ancient Greek armor? Who the fuck cares, its because of the Lolz. Oh and don’t even get me started on how Mother Russia had no point in the comics except as fan service porn. I’ve found more porn pictures of Mother Russia’s comic book character then of just seeing the comic book character normally and i have searched normally on Google.
The second movie is infinity better than the first and comic book in every shape and form and i have minimal complaints. I suppose my only complaint is with its message at the ending. I do not agree with that when i do not think the world needs regular heroes. Well yes it would hugely help improve America’s situation but it doesn’t mean much when we have serial killers.
Also i don’t think Angry Joe’s opinion matters much after he thought that pile of shit Pacific Rim was a gold mine when it’s one of the dumbest movies ever created
Agreed with most of your review. The first film already touched on how difficult it is to be a “Real” super hero. We didn’t need it a second time. I enjoyed the hell out of this movie, but in some ways I wish it were more like the comic.
I liked the movie, plain and simple. It was a good movie, I’d have to say in certain parts it was better than the first, but it also fell short in others. The great thing in this movie over it’s predecessor was that yes the first showed how difficult it is for one person to be a super hero, but this one showed how it can hurt not only yourself but those you care about as well, which is even worse. I’d die to save those that are precious to me, I wouldn’t step in front of a bullet, I’d dive at the gunman or tackle my loved ones.
Kick-Ass 2 was good but like Joe said not as good as the first but I still love the movie hit girl is especially awesome but I think it at least deserves a 8 for quality in a sequel you hardly ever see that anymore and the movie was good exspecialy since it had a new directoryou got cut him a little slack on this one if the third is no good then you have a reason to be upset
Ok, when I saw you go to lengths such as dressing up and the like from the video image, I was hesitant as hell to even click the video because this movie was pretty crappy and average..
But glad to see my fears dispersed quickly..
I miss Big Daddy. He’s like Batman. But a Batman that kills.
Eh. I loved the movie.
It made me laugh several times, it had a few superhero homages I liked (the Batgirl-reference e g) and the only part I really didn’t like was the final confrontation which only seemed like a scene they set up for trailers.
I don’t know Joe, I agree with you when you say fighting scenes aren’t on the same level of the first movie at all, but most of the scenes that pissed you off I found in line with the movie’s spirit. I think the main objective of the movie was to make you say “No way, what the f**k!”, so the scene of Kickass girlfriend dumping him for a matter of stick dimensions was intentionally nonsense to me. A little bit lazy as you said, though, ’cause they could have made it more clear. No mentions for John Leguizamo?! He made me lmao!
Night Bitch was a waste of time and Motherfucker could have been done much better. Other than that the film was alright. Also agree, the choreography could have been better.
Haha in your previous video where you told everyone to see Kick-Ass 2 you called the film “a kick-ass film” before you had even seen it. Well 6/10 is hardly a kick-ass score, that’s why you never recommend a film before you have seen it!
Aw man review payday 2 😛
Hell yeah, now that game kicks freaking ass
It looks to me that the directing staff was treating this more like a colorful rated R comic book parody rather than the dark, Brutal, and fatalistic superhero flick it was supposed to be. If you notice all the colors seem to be MUCH brighter than the first one. And the uniforms don’t look quite so home made. Nearly everything looked like off the rack clothes or sportswear. This time everything is vacuformed pauldrons and custom painted vehicles. Kinda reminds me of batman with nipples.
I wouldn’t be surprised if this was how they got Jim Carey to sign on board. “Hey Jim, its a sarcastic superhero spoof”.
Kick Ass was always supposed to be ‘what if real people tried to be superheroes’? Well for one they die horribly, and two, if they don’t die horribly they are probably one step away from being batshit crazy train.
I never really thought the first film was that good anyway.
Aside from the swearing girl, which is a short lived enjoyable experience to begin with.
The film didn’t really stand out to me in any way.
The story was nothing special.
The action is “kick ass” at the start, but it fast became repetitive and predictable.
The jokes/one liners were just not funny.
Seems to me the sequel is very much like the original.
The only thing I really enjoyed with the first film was Nic Cage.
The film should have been centred on his back story which seemed to have more depth and detail in what little they glossed over than the film itself did.
“The only thing I really enjoyed with the first film was Nic Cage.”
I’m glad you included that line because now I can safely ignore everything you said.
I didn’t like the first film either, but for different reasons.
Felt the film started incredibly strong, with a kid that was very believable and relateable wanting to be a hero.
Hit Girl and Dad just don’t seem believable in the slightest, and it becomes just another superhero movie with Kick-Ass sitting in the back doing fuck all.
I wanted more Kick-Ass and less cliched but cool girl. Just me though.
I feel as though the directing crew didn’t take the project seriously enough as a whole. The actors seem dedicated to producing something true to the characters with what they’re given, but the other side of things just didn’t pull through enough. It just pains me when there is something that is done that just leaves me like, “Oh, WHY DID YOU DO THAT!?”
Yes so true man.
Fuck the directors of kick-ass two i like most but what they did with the original girlfriend of kick-ass is fucking bullshit i wanna punch the director and beat him up kick-ass style!
well if you hate what they did with her would you rather they have stayed true to the comic? where they never got together and at the end of the first one she flips out when she finds out he’s not gay, gets another guy to beat him up, then sends kick ass pictures of her sucking the guy’s dick? then kick ass 2 roles around and the motherfucker leads a gang of thugs to her neighborhood randomly starts shooting children and everyone they see then kick open her door shoot her father in the face in front of her then proceed to beat and gang rape her?
yea shame that they just wrote her out to avoid all that…..
The second movie is always the worst and or never true to the original
Does that include Empire Strikes Back?
or the dark knight
terminator 2?
aliens?
6/10
I honestly hope you learned your lesson Joe of not telling people to see films before they come out.
I honestly hope people have their own brains and can decide to watch or not watch a film themselves…regardless of what anyone says.
Why can’t Joe suggest that people see films before they come out? He is just suggesting a film that we, the viewers of his site, would probably enjoy. And last I checked, Free will is still a thing most humans have.
oh let it go. he did that for man of steel, he did it for pacific rim why cant he do it for this one? no body cried and complained when he told people to see those.
