Destiny is a fail copy of Borderlands. Played it once at my friends ps4 and it really sucked. Bungie should go and work in Halo 5 in my opinion.
Joe I don’t think you had to include titanfall in this list. I played the game and its just epic. I think I now why you put it in this list; because I think you bought it the day it was released and that time there were lot of bugs and very less features in the game, but when I bought on march 2015, it was epic. So I think you should go back and play it.
i thought Aliens:colonial marines was gonna be on this list.
Elder Scrolls and MMO will never fit together. We Elder Scrolls player want to immerse ourself in Tamriel and don’t like it to be reminded every second a real player talks to us that it is “just a game”. A multiplayer for Skyrim would have been the better option. With friends who like roleplay and have respect for the world. I have waited for that and all people I know too.
Weird decision by Bethesda…
the only argue to this: Don’t hate the bethesda you know and love. Bethesda was bought out by their formerly, affiliate company, Zenimax. Zenimax now has the rights and the ownership over ESO and Fallout, etc. To do whatever they wish, Bethesda made the statement a long time ago, that they would never make an MMO, that being said, Bethesda bought them out and did it for them xD
Also, Tamriel Unlimited has really changed the ESO for the better though, they’ve done a lot of recalibrating and revamping of the entire game.
I don’t know if sacred 3 should have made it into that list or into the worst game one but it clearly deserves a spot as it was just an insult to the other games.
ESO was my most disappointing game of 2014, glad to see it was number 2 on the list lol
This is why I watch your reviews and others play these games so I know not to buy shitty games, I have always been very picky with what I play personally.
Some time I learn another post currently, and also I am questioning whether or not the woman had written zygor plus the same man. Exactly the same model that we enjoy, perhaps transferred comparable thoughts. Jots down content on some other web-site?
Bunie managed to get below whit Destiny what Joe adressed in his review, now they even started to censor and hide the user feedback and post on destiny forums if they point out mistakes and get enough likes. And whit the last DLC ripoff theres blenty negative feedback goming.
Only game I bought (thank God!) was Watch Dogs and was totally disappointed in how boring it was and how bad the driving mechanics were.
Personally, I think Dragon Age Inquisition should be on this list. Can’t believe it got GOTY. Probably because there was nothing great that came out in 2014. Another game that was boring, repetitive, blah characters, blah story, nothing like Dragon Age Origins. Tried to be like Skyrim with open world, etc. but failed miserably IMO.
Ha ha, did’nt buy Titan Fall, did’nt buy Elderscrolls: Online, did’nt buy Assassins Creed Unity-don’t even want to buy a console that offers it for free, did’nt buy Destiny, oh, oh bought Watch Dogs, but for me I did like this game. I enjoy first person shooter games. Watching cars get in wrecks after changing traffic signals to red never got old for me. Escaping police via water was the only way I could escape them, because I’m so bad at driving games. Also Watch Dogs had various mini games you could play through. Not a bad game. Oh, I forgot, ha ha, I did’nt buy Call Of Duty Whatever either. All the games I did’nt buy is because of reviewers like you Joe and all the other You Tube reviewers who give me a heads up on what not to buy. I owe all of you a big THANK YOU for the service you provide to all gamers. You’ve saved me hundreds of dollars and lots of disappointment and frustration. I’ll see you again at the next Angy Joe Show. Roarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Fucking elder scrolls online, fucking FUCK, I was expecting sooo much out of the game just to end up disappointed once again, fuck you zenimax. yea got me..
THANK YOU for pointing out the disappointment of NHL 15. It went a little unnoticed this year since Ubisoft was the big offender this year. I saw some people say “…but at least EA is getting better.” No. It isn’t.
My top 10 Disappointing games of 2014 are…….. I would tell you but it is so f$&@ing much of let down that I would like to hunt down everyone who work on these games and beat the shit out of them. Yes! That would make it better, now that I think about it no it wouldn’t.
ESO just added the justice system unfortunately its too little too late that is something that should have been there at LAUNCH not after launch
Elderscrolls Online is still an MMO I really love playing. I’ve stopped playing Tera for it and even tho I said I’d go back to WoW, I bought an ESO timecard instead. ESO and Guildwars. I will say this, the most dissapointing part to me is how it lacked content, not that I felt unimmersed. It was like SWTOR all over again.
FIFA 15….another lazy EA addition of a game that is constantly bought year after year by people that have never seen the game. the servers are shocking, to earn trophies on psn and xbox live server faults force you to pay to compete and even on single player the gameplay, visuals and sound at times are identical to models 5 years+ previous
Angry Joe is Shakespeare. His words shall be immortal,”FUCK THIS GAME!”
So glad AJ reviewed Sims 4! If that’s not my personal biggest disappointment, Inquisition is. I almost uninstalled the game a few times, due to doing nothing but finding notes and attempting to hop up small hills only to slide back down, and have to walk for 10 minutes to find the exact right way to walk up it.
EA’s pathetic now. They ruin everything they touch, and want tons of money for it. Sims 4 is still in beta, without the label. Every time I think about turning on TS4, I end up making a mod first to make it better, simply because it needs them. Now that DAI Tools are out, I’ll have to make some reasonable hair and armor for that too, so I can look decent.
Did you play Inquisition on PC?
How in the world did Halo MCC not make this list?? this game should have been #1.. talk about a game that had all the potential to be one the best console games out there and 343 completely blew it! the multiplayer is Halo’s lifeblood and it is so broken they should be recalling that damn game and giving everybody their money back! I was fortunate enough to watch people playing it on Twitch right before I was about to buy it and seeing the issues they were having, sadly changed my mind. Some said the game is fixed now but when I watched streamers playing it last night they were still having problems finding matches.. after all the patches they’ve pumped into this game??.. UNEXCUSEABLE!!… on a brighter note, after all the dirty laundry Ubisoft threw at us this year they did give us one jem.. Far Cry 4, fantatstic game but 1 out of 4 ain’t gonna get it ubi.. and you damn well better hit it out of the park with The Division, if and when we ever see that game.
Definately Destiny. I’ve never felt so cheated and so dissapointed when playing a game, and when playing I remember being so hopeful that something awesome was going to happen. But it never came. Some games don’t live up to their hype – Ground Zeroes, or Bioshock Infinite for examples – but Destiny was just a downright awful game. An average FPS set in a pretty environment, nothing else. Master Blaster on the nintendo had more varied gameplay and far more depth.
With Destiny one thing really got to ke though. How guns and enemies almost similtaneously progresses. Start the game: three handcannon shots to kill a low ranking enemy. 5 hours later – three handcannon shots to kill the same frigging but high ranking enemy. The inclusion of Peter Dinklage was just a lazy attempt to cash in on the fabulous and beautiful Game. Of Thrones series. What ahould have beeb fantastic and beautifully framed set piece battles were let down by lazy AI. The ships: I expected Tie Fighter and got a bloody cutscene. The moon level on Castle Wolfenstein was far more memorable than Destiny’s. I’m having a frigging gun battle on Venus – I should be excited by that ffs. The frigging hover bike thing is absolutely useless aw anything other than a futuristic motorbike yet they still find it necessary to put a bloody stamina bar on the thing. The environments are completwly empty and exploring comes without reward.
I could go on, but I don’t want to give that piece of garbage game any more of my time than I already have. Grrrrrr
I bought this with my friend and it never worked for him. Now I’m playing a game without its only redeeming quality and we are short in total $180.
Wow, I’m honestly surprised that Halo:MCC didn’t make this list. With all the multiplayer b#llshit as well as other things that plagued it’s disastrous release, 343’s inability to fix said b#llshit 3 MONTHS after release is something to at least talk about. not to mention that the updates they have been pushing out have, on more than one occasion, made it even worse. I believe the current average to get into a match is about 20 mins, which still includes uneven teams and connection issues. Not only that, but after your match, you are kicked back to the lobby screen, forcing you to go through that process every single time you want to play a match! Considering that it is Halo, all of my friends were gonna buy the Xbox One so we could all play together like we did in high school. But however, with it being so disappointing, I was the only one that bought it (I was the guinea pig in this situation). The same thing happened with Destiny and now I’m just disappointed in Bungie/343i. I expected better from both of them and now, I have no one to play with.
Everything Joe said about Destiny is true. However, I can’t seem to put it away. Why can’t I escape Destiny?
Well man, to be honest you have no better games then. I’m a gambling addict. I can spend a full few thousand in slots in one sitting, I could blow more money than I could possibly win and at first I was addicted to play, but as time went on, I dropped it, it was easy. Once you get better games to play and things to do. Destiny is broke and it has a 4 game contract meaning 3 more of these games, stay far away . Once you break that hold it’s easy to leave it
That happened to me, I just couldn’t turn it off and have a better use for my PS4. Why? The loot a.k.a the Vegas slot machine, I just kept coming back to see if i can get an exotic weapon. I did however buy DA:I for my PS4 and some good classics for my PS3, and a couple of indie games on PC so I can be free from Destiny, and it worked.
Disappointing doesn’t necessarily mean a really terrible and boring game. It just didn’t meet expectations that were set.
My biggest disappointment was Infamous Second Son. The controls were garbage, the gameplay old-hat, and it was a disappointing recreation of Seattle.
The biggest disappointment for me was Watch Dogs, to the point where I didn’t even buy it. Battlefield (4/Hardline) was a huge let down. MMO’s have sucked all year. But the biggest disappointment for me was that companies are still releasing half finished games and then asking for more money so you can get the other half. Releasing unfinished games should be made illegal and asking for money to unlock existing content should also be made illegal. Let’s hope 2015 is the year of the gamer not the year of the CEO.
Oh and it’s Youbisoft Joe not Oobisoft.
I mean… its only going to get worse, as long as people keep buying half ass’d games that spent tons of money on adds and hype but little time on actual development, games will continue to devolve into dlc driven, patchy, buggy, rough games with less content yet cost more money. If anyone thinks it will change they need a reality check. You watch the fremium bullshit push from one side, and and the incomplete games pushed to release before they are ready from the other, and in the middle are the awesome games slowly being squeezed from both sides until their developers realize that people will buy this crap either way, so why put effort in when they can just charge the same price for less? As long as people keep spending millions on mediocrity, they will keep receiving less and less. Depressing shit man.
My most disappointing game is TESO! I rly waited for the game and sing for beta and when i got the chance (true it was BETA!) it was shocking!
The second was civ beyond earth….. after the fist mach i quit the game and played whit civ5 instead. I say no reasons bc Joe already told everything!
Personally 2014 was THE MOST disappointing so far!
I really didn’t like Thief. I’m actually surprised that it came out in 2014, the game made it feel like it was older still.
To me it was clunky and I had no interest in anything in that world.
I know some people thought it was good, I think I rather take my chances with Ass Ass Unity.
Thief *sigh* Thief
Biggest disappointment was Dragon Age Inquisition for me. What ive got was an mmo-style grindmarathon and the story was told by a few missions and on top of that it was a painfully bad pc port. I know the majority of the new audiene of the new bioware (called EA) like it, still.
Edit: Joe reviewed TESO and GW2 so he is familiar with mmo-s, i simply can not understand how he did not noted the mmo-ishness of inquisition in his review of it. It can be very offputing in a single player game. Does not matter, in the of the day its just a game, have fun if you like it.
I am surprised that Driveclub & Sniper Elite 3 are not on this list. I find these two games, in terms of gameplay, to be very quite decent, despite their mixed ratings from both critics & users on Metacritic. Looking at the gameplay, I didn’t think they’re spectacular, but I did NOT find them terrible either. There are more games I know that I can call terrible than the games I mentioned above, but they’re your opinions & I respect that. People have different views and tastes.
I played the Driveclub demo on game stores & bought it. & I say it’s good. Not over the top, but good.
Personally, I never played Sniper Elite 3, so I don’t have much to say. However, I want to experience the game when I have the chance.
Shadow of Mordor was pretty disappointing. Kinda fun for a few hours, but doesn’t really have anything that special about it. Definitely disappointed me the most, especially since I had been looking forward to it for so long. But if I would have bothered to check that it was made my Ubisoft, I wouldn’t have been so surprised. Ubisoft kinda sucks.
Oh wait it is monolith. My bad. I thought they were Ubisolft because they ripped off the parkour movement skin thingies from them.
completely agree with Shadow of Mordor being so disappointing. It was the same thing over and over and while the story was somewhat interesting, it didn’t pull me in whatsoever. Great list as always Joe.
2014 was extremely disappointing year, especially for next-gen consoles and AAA games. Let’s just hope that 2015 will be a good year especially considering that games such as Witcher 3, MGS: phantom pain and No man’s sky are gonna come out in 2015.
I don’t agree with unity only because of how it worked for myself on the PS4. Plus, Ubisoft is fixing it as we speak with tons of free dlc and even gave games away for it’s launch. Destiny never did that, advance warefare never did that. Still, great job on the rest and because of you, I’ve become a huge dragon age fan. Keep doing good in the gaming world.
Do yourself a favor and avoid DA2 like the plague. It is one of the worst games I’ve ever played.
I don’t think the worst game ever quite describes DA:2. At least not for me. If I had to describe it I would say it is underwhelming, especially when you compare it to DA:O.
Tell them the way it is joe!!!
I only things I disagree on this list is the crew and advance warfare
I hope Ubisoft doesn’t disappoint us this year with The Division and Rainbow 6: Seige.. Hopes pretty high on these two. And also applies to other anticipated games such as Arkham Knight and Phantom Pain. I really hope they live up to the hype as well..
To be honest, just looking at the Watch Dogs demo I was wondering what was going on and why people were treating this like the biggest game of the year. I remember back on the old Blistered Thumbs site an op ed about manufactured expectations and Game of the Year awards, I can’t think of a better explanation for it.
And how many franchises has EA bought up and driven into the ground now?
i still had fun with watch dogs. clearly not up the hype that is disappointing but still a fun title.
the only thing that really annoyed me were the constant lagging and freezing that occurred during the game and even during the damn videos. it never crashed and only once i flew through the level. and thats playing on pc only.
otherwise i was happy with it. but not happy enough to purchase more content for it due the mentioned reasons.
titanfall actually has fixed these issues by now that didnt exist at release. there are now private lobbies, the new levels are actually good and fun (if you got them of course) and they have added new content as well for free. the last time i played they have added a new ranking system. which can be disabled at any time if you want the original ranking system back.
so no, i cant really agree it being a disappointed game.
It’s a good thing (for me) that my money was on Destiny.
I disagree on Watch Dogs because I think they had plenty to do on there and console version was amazingly fun. The DLC while it did add some new awesome features did kinda suck though. Sure the game wasn’t amazingly gorgeous but I still had so much fun playing hours on end. The escaping by water taxi was pretty lame and I do think the driving was a little stiff but still great game.
Totally agree on that one, they totally screwed up on the RNG system which probably should have been replaced by one that rewards based on actually participating on how much of it you do when in raids or strike runs (thank you to all the AFC doucheholes). With the release of the new content (set 1) there is still little more to do as all the maps are just rehashed in reverse. Sure they squeezed in a few new bosses, weapons, levels, and a brand new raid, which btw sucked since one of the parts I consider a boss rewards absolutely nothing and the whole run can be glitched, The game is utterly boring at this point and I no longer play.
I put UBI cause I think you honestly should have just summed up all the games as a UBI review since ALL their games have had the same issues, most of which is tied to there services which had been down for over a month if I’m not mistaken ( feel free to correct me). I honestly think Dragon Age should have been on this list in place of those games since it’s buggy as hell for me on ps4.
I do have to say, Thank you Joe for keeping me from buying some of these games and facing more disappointment than I already have.
Sonic Boom and Bound by Flame
Dragon Age: Inquisition should have been on this list but, you know, social justice.
He actually put DA:I as #1 in his best games of the year list.
Sounds like the only reason you didn’t like the game was your inherent homophobia. Classy.
I definitely agree with Joe on Destiny, very disappointing and it even hyped up a friend of mine, he even said that it was going to be the best FPS ever but it had to be fucked up and he lost interest three months later. One friend of mine still plays the game despite the games’s frustrations, despite him watching Joe’s review and despite him being a super fan of the AngryJoeShow. He even gave most of his back to his favorite franchise Halo and Halo 5 beta for both Destiny and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (yes Joe, AW sticks to the same formula as previous CoDs, but at least the multiplayer was more balanced and enjoyable compared to past CoDs because of the exo suits and the equipment, so that CoD was not a disappointment, it actually became my favorite CoD for the great changes in gameplay and actually making the multiplayer its best feature, at least this is coming from a non CoD fan like me since I suck very badly at MW3 and other CoDs but thankfully not in AW. You should have gave it a 7/10 minimum and played it on PS4 or Xbox One rather than PC) for no reason other than the campaign of AW and the repetitive strikes of Destiny. My guess is that he plays Destiny because it has Bungie on the cover and AW for being futuristic, I don’t know but that story is for another time.
I wonder what Joe thinks about Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Halo 5 multiplayer beta. I also wonder if he has already dealt with the claims of Nintendo, it hurts me to see Joe fighting Nintendo right now because of the claims. It really devastated me when I saw that Nintendo claimed Joe’s video, I don’t know if it’s because Nintendo doesn’t want long gameplay videos of their games or if they really want to claim the videos. It really hurts me this situation, I hope it stops because I admire both Nintendo and Angry Joe but I don’t want both to fight each other. I hope the claims in videos stop.
Dragon Age: Inquisition. Instead of a story-driven awesome single player RPG, I got an MMOish grindfest with maybe like 5-7 story mission. Major disappointment cause I love the lore of Dragon Age.
My exact issue with Mass Effect 2. I still don’t understand why ME2 is such “great game” when I face Collectors in 4-5 missions. Everything else is background of my team which is awesome, but it negates the final fight. And I also did not like the console feeling for PC version.
My disapointing game will be Driveclub. Lot of promises, delays and missing content at launch. On-line unplayable for month or two? Weather is finally available, private match making not. A social game with no social model. And one more thing, the PS Plus Free version, where is it? Sold my copy of the game a month later.
My number one disappointment of the year was the fact that so many people fell for Bungie’s marketing hype of that corporate crapfest Destiny.
Dark Souls 2 by far was my personal most disappointing game. It just felt hallow compared to the Masterpiece that is Dark Souls.
Better to avoid copy and paste sequels
It’s not even that they added new and admittedly cool mechanics that keep the the game play fresh. It’s that the director changed and the game feel changed completely. The lore wasn’t even that interesting. The one memorable thing out of game was the Looking-glass Knight. Where other player could invade you mid boss fight, just to be dicks.
