I have come across many old autos leave very long time storage space,
You shouldn’t be mad at the games. Of course the develops will put out shit if people buy it.
Be mad at gamers who accept this type of garbage and pay for it.
THEY keep it going.
About all that was said about The Dead Island game reminds me about how Paper Mario has been treated lately 🙁
Yeah Sticker Star was shit.
My biggest disappointment last year was definitely Assassins creed Unity! Mostly because i bought it on PC! Laggy and buggy as fuck on release and still buggy and laggy as fuck 2 MONTHS LATER!!! UBISOFT FIX YOU FUCKING GAME!!!! AND STOP USING UPLAY!!! Sorry for my outburst there xD Good show Joe keep up the good work 😉
Who developed The Slaughtering Grounds, Nicolo Machiavelli?
No, because Machiavelli wouldn’t have been stupid enough to try and abuse laws he didn’t understand.
He was not an idiot. He was pragmatic, yes, cruel, sometimes yes, but he was definitely not an idiot.
The Risen 1 combat was actually fucking awesome. With the staff you could do overhead right/left sweeps and a stab. You could also block in all these directions. It made combat skill based and awesome. I heard that the xbox port was shit but PC was awesome.
Joe unfortunately bought the xbox version of Risen 1. I’d say that risen 1 was good, and that it went downhill from there.
Don’t forget Ace Combat Infinity.
Bound by fucking Flame…FUCK THIS GAME! I’m surprised it isn’t on more list.
He probably doesn’t know about it
I read a lot of hate on Inquisition for the PC and it’s justified. For the consoles: It’s deserving of Game of the Year. However, this has to be one of the worst years the gaming industry has had as far as quality titles. There were so many horribly released games in all genres this year that Dragon Age Inquisition was just a jewel (a hot mess on the PC though. Oh man… Easily the worst of the Dragon Age series as far as GUI and side quests.) against the crap that was released. 2015 better be a banner year for some of these developers or we’re going to see a lot of studios and shops close because of cautious buyers waiting for products to hit the bargain bin. Bioware got game of the year so I’m expecting their franchises to be exclusive to consoles and being only multiplayer. If you think I’m nuts google how Dragon Age almost became a multiplayer only game.
I have Inquisition for PC. I have not had any trouble with it or any complaints as of yet, not even with the controls as Joe mentioned. So it still deserves GotY on PC, whoever complaints bought the wrong kind of game and should stay away from DA and ME series.
Jach? Are you nuts? The control scheme is not PC-oriented at all and is troublesome at best using a gamepad. The game doesn’t even recognize extra mouse buttons and the tactical camera is worthless. This was a console designed game that was ported poorly to the PC. Bioware made a lot of hype about this game being for PC gamers and so far, if you read the Bioware forums, has been a complete falsehood. They are struggling to patch the game (you can’t even walk yet!) and there are still lots of lingering issues with PC performance. I won’t argue about Mass Effect because the game started with a need for gamepad. Dragon Age Origins needed only a spacebar and the mouse to play and it was incredibly fun. Inquisition is a chore to play.
From what i hear, I’m pretty that i bought Inquisition on PS4. I don’t play RPGs on PC unless they have mod support and a steam workshop (skyrim is a good example).
I’m pretty lucky*
Smart move Grant. Mod support was something of a trademark Bioware had in their repertoire before EA bought out Bioware. Origins was the last game to ship with a toolset. Even Awakenings was difficult to mod and it came as an expansion to Origins. Obsidian got it right with the GECK even though Fallout 3 and New Vegas were bug-filled nightmares, modders had the tools to make things right or even improve upon the game. By the way, I loved Bioware up until this game was released. DA2 was definitely a shift towards consoles. Inquisition is now painfully obvious that they didn’t concern themselves with PC users. However, I still hope for a better DA4. I jsut won’t ever preorder anything from Bioware again. Too many “failure to launch” titles since Origins.
Is it just me or are companies becoming more and more anti-PC? Just think about it, the poor optimization on PC for Inquisition, the lack of PC port for GTA 5 at release, the poor optimization on PC of W_D, AC: unity among other incidents.
You are seriously not seeing a difference between DAI and all previous DA games AND the entire ME series? those 5 are similar and this latest one is the one that is really different…. so if you didnt like DAI, go and play those 5… it should go more that way
I played ME2, i can definitely see the difference, DA:I is more open, focusing more on the gameplay rather than the story, and TBH i enjoyed Inquisition more than most of Bioware previous games. And don’t give any of those sad “it breaks immersion” complaints, if all you care about is the story, go watch a movie.
so you agree basically. That is exactly the point, people who dont like DAI tend to like the previous games, but not this one, and even you who said that you like DAI better can see the difference. I myself preferred the story driven style much better, because it was immersive, yes, i much prefer being taken through a good story like a movie where I can make decisions on top of it. There was a gamestyle that doesnt exist anymore really, it was called interactive movie… most of the wing commander series (especially late episodes), or even an x-files game that I really loved were like that. I specifically loved bioware for recapturing the feeling of those since nobody else does that well these days.
That’s why I dont like their move to things others are doing as well… If I want an open world experience I play skyrim, or the other dozens of identical games, but there is/was noone who created games the way the ME franchise (or other DA games) worked
I myself enjoyed ME2, I do enjoy a good story, but it a bit linear for my taste. I’m one those who like to explore every nook & cranny, collect everything, finish every task, weather it’s main or secondary. So mixing the open world gameplay with Bioware’s story telling was dream come true for me. And besides if your looking for story semi-open world games, you always have Deus Ex, it’s similar to ME in a lot ways (I should warn you that Deus Ex notorious for bad endings).
Thanks, I have played deus ex, it was ok, but I liked ME much better.
In terms of sidequests and ME2 specifically, since you mentioned it, my preference is with the story, but that includes let’s say companion quests as well, anything that actually makes a difference (which in me2 companion quests did) to the story/ending.
That’s why I didnt like DAI’s “random marker” quests, it is like assassins creed’s treasure chests all over the city for me 🙁 if i am around for sotry reasons I pop by and open them but otherwise no thanks, so that excludes dai’s astariums and dead letter deliveries and such. I might do one each, or two to see if they get any different, but when they dont and they have no meaning in the story I just get bored with them, especially on a first playthrough when i am actually interesed in what happens more than that, but dai’s story was not all that interesting for me to re-play it because there is not much variation in it that my choices would influence.
The Slaughtering Grounds is a prime example of just HOW broken the Greenlight system, and how little Valve actually cares about it. If people are curious how that abomination got into Steam in the first place, you can thank this group here:
They advertise free keys just for voting for the games while in Greenlight with the group, and have them spam vote the games through the entire process with little work from the developer. It’s a disgusting process that is just further poisoning the well.
And they are also thankful for their other games getting through and being greenlit by the system.
Ok everybody today magic word are “sell out” that right everyone sellout when you see a game or DLC that you know sucks scream out at the top your voice “sellout”. Now on the count of three everybody yell you motherf$&?!$& “SELLOUT” one….two…three….. you motherf$&@?!$ “SELLOUT” I knew you could do it .
Who here came to see AJ almost have a heart attack? Pls tell me I’m not the only one, because then I’ll really feel bad about joe and his bad experiences as of 2014. Hopefully 2015 will be a better year for gamers, expecially for joe and his poor heart
I am surprised Dragon Age Inquisition (PC) is in the top 10 games instead of being in this video. Genuinely surprised. I did play Risen 1 and it was nostalgic (reminded me of the first Gothic) but those guys just made everything worse in it in the second one and based on what ive seen in AJ review of the third one i feel sorry for it, the game became a laughingstock.
Is it really that bad? I’ve only played the PS3 version and I’ve been enjoying it. Is there something on the PC version that differentiates it?
The PC version is poorly optimised and has very stiff controls but the console version is very good, especially the PS4 version.
31:07 lol nice pic joe =)
what was that 0.25 of a sec =)
It’s a bit disappointing that much of the discussion, and/or videos for three of the ten games were by other people, rather than Joe. Also in the F.E.A.R. Online part Joe said “it’s really difficult to fuck up a free to play game” which makes me wonder how many F2P games Joe plays, as there’s a lot of F2P games out there that got fucked up pretty good in at least one way. I’d say it’s pretty darn easy to fuck up a free to play game.
Aside from that, he pretty much rhymed off the games I expected him to. I guess some like/prefer his let’s play type stuff on Twitch, but I’m hoping for more actual reviews in 2015.
So, first the bugy vapid piece of shit repetitive clickfest combat single player mmo-rpg Inquisition gets number 1 on the best game of the year when the fucking game is barely out, full of bugs and with painfully obvious content stripped from it to be later released as DLC … and then you give Risen 3, a game that actually improved on risen 2 (but I gues your rage filled ass never bothered to do an actual comparison) a spot on your worst list? You know, the game wasn’t good. It was average.
And then just to add a cherry on top you say movie licensed games are dead, in the year that gave us Shadows of Mordor and Alien Isolation … Probably should have thought that better.
You speak as your opinion is law. It isn’t. It’s a pretty good example on how fascists think, though. Good job on that.
Just…watch the video again. He did compare Risen 3 to Risen 2. Stating that it improved nothing. And he said that licensed games had a rejuvenation in 2014, but that Amazing spider-man fucked it up.
Inquisition is the clickfest, repetitive single player MMO, while Risen 3 isn’t?
Risen 3 has everything a cash-in “Free to play” MMO has:
Brutally hard at the beginning (your still forced to grind for gold and glory to make combat ok)? check
Lame storyline? check
Clickfest combat (and don’t you even think about giving me any of those “it’s all about timing” excuses)? check
Ugly graphics and textures (even on PC)? check
I’m surprised that there’s no microtransactions
Joe did NOT say that licenced games were dead. He said the opposite. He said that licenced games were doing great this year, and cited exactly Shadows of Mordor and Alien Isolation (and Stick of Truth). He said that Spiderman (and Rambo) was notable for being bad, and that it was bad licenced games which were going to be dead.
Dude. Adjust your hearing-aid.
Maybe actually listen to his reviews next time more clearly as he has said what everyone has mentioned. Risen series has seriously gone downhill in which is makes me laugh that every year at least another one of their games makes it on this list. To be honest, I’m happy joe never mention ground zero on this and the new list. Another point, dragon inquisition is one of the best of the series. With people hating on DA2, this one pulls it out which in my opinion, DA2 wasn’t even bad.
Who is the one talking under fear online?
ChaosD1 from mmogrinder.net
Oh, the pain. Every time I watch these videos, it reminds me that game reviewing is just as hard as any other job
I really don’t see Duck Dynasty as THE worst game, but definitely on this list. While the slaughtering ground is also a cashgrab, at least duck dynasty did put in some effort with mapmaking, character building, actual gameplay mechanics, voice actors and such, even if it wasn’t all that good. That, plus the creators isn’t as shitty as the one for slaughtering grounds.
Making a game of Duck Dynasty was such a bizarre concept to begin with. Because if you think about it this show is less about hunting and more about the Robertson family getting into these wacky hijinks. Even when they are hunting it seems like they are doing more talking then shooting. I’ll just say that Duck Dynasty is a fun show to watch but a lousy video game to play.
I agree. Duck Dynasty looks pretty bad, but not as bad as Rambo or the #2 on the list which I shan’t name. Or as bad as that Warhammer abomination. Or as the Dungeon Keeper cashgrab.
Why’s it #1 worst this year? I can think of at least two reasons: Joe’s a liberal (based on how he white-knighted Anita last year), so doesn’t approve of conservative entertainment for its own sake; and Joe composed ALMOST enough material for a full-on review, but didn’t compile it until now, so had all this footage to spare.
Oh come one, for 100th fucking time Joe wasn’t defending anita, he said that people have the right disagree with her, but not with the incredibly childish manner that 75% of her haters did. Me myself, i hate her, but never started a war over it.
As ever Joe, love to watch your videos. I hope you find better games this year than last.
2014 was a crappy year for video games. My hats off to you Joe for sitting through those abominations. Hopefully 2015 will be better.
I thought it was better than last year.
I also thaught that 2014 was 2013 , mostly because Ride to fucking hell was released in 2013.
2014 was slightly better than 2013*
