AngryJoe, OtherJoe and the Rebel Alliance work to recover whats left of Battlefront from the forces of the Imperial EA! How does this game live up to its license & franchise? Find out!

That’s an awful game to play and make it a cash grab that EA will never make a Star Wars game I hope
Is this a dead site now? Joe has made plenty more videos that aren’t here…
I want Joe to do a Angry Review on BattleBorn.
Did joe die?
This game was a royal disappointment. Much like Joe, I too was SUPER excited when I found out DICE was working on the fourth (if you count Elite Squadron) Battlefront. But it didn’t take long for me to realize that EA was going to pretty much blanket it all. I purposefully killed whatever excitement I had before it got too large. I nipped it in the bud. And I’m glad I did.
Destiny was a wake up call for me. I spent full price for that game, to my shocking wake up regret. Haven’t bought a single other thing that has to do with Destiny, And I will likely wait for the 10 year contract to end before I buy anything else in that.
And BattlefrontEA…..I have no intention of bothering whatsoever with this abortion of a game. Ever. At ANY point in the future.
This is not Battlefront.
This is not the game we knew and loved in our childhoods.
This is an unacceptable, serious fucking disappointment. It has EASILY earned it’s spot at the Top 10 Disappointing Games of 2015. That’s my opinion. 0/10 because I I REFUSE to give a CENT to EA to try the game (I tried the beta). Angry Joe showed enough of it.
No space battles? No galaxy conquest, Leia sideboob etc. ?
Didn’t the cashwhoring EA teach you anything already?! Expect all above mentioned in Battlefront 2 with the label and .
Because that’s how it works.
If you didn’t get it rite the first time why on earth would I dump extra money into an expansion or dlc. No solo story was a total failure. If I wanted COD with lasers and jet packs it was already done. Online first person shooters are over saturating the market, dull, lack innovation and seem rushed to the market incomplete. Boooooooo Activision ruined the walking dead and now EA ruined Star Wars. Stop licensing to these company’s they don’t care about the franchises you work so hard to build.
I dunno why he isn’t updating his site anymore, but he’s done several reviews on his youtube.
Official: Angry Joe’s website to shutdown after no game reviews posted to it in the last 4 months. We are aware of the issue and are currently looking into it. Please Stand By.
It is May now. Any updates concerning restoring the website?
I have to agree on SW Battlefront – hopefully additional content in the future will take this game to what it should and can be which is an awesome FPS game.
boy after such a long lapse between game reviews I hope you’re planning on coming out with a really good one for The Division and hopefully more for games like Far Cry Primal and ALL the other decent looking ones people are curious that have released since Battlefront…
Go to Channel Awesome, he did more reviews.
Hey, Joe! When the completed version of RWBY: Grimm Eclipse is done and comes out, will you make a Joe Play video of it?
In addition to my last post i do think that you were a bit easy on EA when you know as well of the rest of us they should have been arrested along with their entire family tied up and thrown into a swamp to be set on by a few squadrons of starving crocodiles
You weren’t so much “Angry Joe” more like “Somewhat annoyed Joe” i won’t be buying anything from EA until they stop this Greedy rip off Buttfuckery shite
Joe! EA don’t want a single player campaign. All the big games companies want to see the end of single player campaigns/Games. They don’t want games that you can buy once and play again and again and again no sir! they want always online games that they can make you pay for again and again and again and when they want you to stop playing it and buy something new they will stop supporting it or even shut down the servers and try to make you buy the next load of expensive, not value for money cobbled together shite they thought up next. its easy to see the corporate mindset here …and by supporting the game as it is you are encouraging them to push it even further … it is going to get worse …..
Angryjoeshow is very popular yet only 45 comments on his website out of the entire human race
This is amazing
Could you do a Star Wars Battlefront 1, 2, 3 and EA comparison?
It would be an interesting thing to see how these 4 games stack against each other. Pro’s and cons with a score based on gameplay…
I’ve had it with EA since they blew it on Mass Effect. As for Star Wars – I’ve been boycotting those new Quests For More Money. So I never had any intention of purchasing Battlewhatever.
The only reason I watched this one is because, hey, Angry Joe.
Will you ever do another review or is the last one? Lol
The gamemodes are fun don’t get me wrong, but some modes get boring REALLY FAST. And really EA, only 11 GUNS IN THE GAME!!!!???? I expect more then 11 THIS IS STAR WARS!!!!!!
star wars gets a 2/10 *I havent grown up loving star wars*
Guys I’ve had it with EA personally and I know a lot of you are thinking the same thing so I would like to call for a boycott of EA until they show that they are going to stop pumping out games like this that feel half finished. It is not fair to you or any other person that a triple A title is doing this to cash in on a franchise like star wars. It is absolutely unacceptable.
[…] Meanwhile, EA’s Star Wars: Battlefront debut was a critical fizzle, a disappointing lump of pretty-looking mediocrity according to this kitty’s most trusted Jedi of truth-telling. […]
This game is so shallow and frustrating…and…and yet…I..Can’t…stop..Playing! DAMN YOU ADDICTING DARK SIDE!!!
Stop saying shits like “This game is shallow but I can’t stop playing” or whatever.
Anybody who actually bought the game and is not a professional reviewer/critic doesn’t have the right to bitch about it. You’re the reason companies like EA do this shit and gets away with it – it’s because of people like you who reward them by giving them money when they do this.
You don’t deserve to complain.
We can only hope that the next game is better… there had better be a campaign mode in the next one!
Even the greatness of the new movie can’t wash away the bitter taste left in my mouth by this game.
dice did you get pushed by ea to make star wars so bad
Corporate may have won this battle, but they haven’t won the war.
ya, they’re really worried as they’re watching the millions roll in off this pathetic excuse for a starwars game. Glad I didnt buy it, ANYTHING with EA on it just wait for a HUGE sale or just skip altogether. Reasoning: its going to be half-working,half-story(if one at all), half-multiplayer working, half ASSED and should be HALF price, if that. Of course having a powerful pc and waiting on games to drop down to $10-$20 sales on steam/xbox leaves me with atleast 70 games to play across both. I have plenty to do and can skip this battlefield and not think twice about it. As soon as the rest of you fall in line and can learn patience then maybe the money will stop rolling in to these corporations. Only THEN will u see change. -B
a fucking catastrophe EA needs to be fucking blown up and erased from history its a fucking joke that squanders for money at any chance and now they DARE TOUCH STAR WARS?! THIS NEEDS TO END EA NEEDS TO FUCK OFF
at least they MAKE games, unlike the kings of Pachinko and nothing else aka FUCKKONAMI
I worry that Battlefront marks the beginning of the end for Dice. It is no secret the way that EA treats developers… they buy them, progressively impose their cooperate BS on the products until the developers games and reputation become mud, at which point the dissolve the company, blaming them for all the ills.
If DICE are now going to be forced to spend the next 3-4 cashing in on the Star Wars gravy-train, where will they be when it is all over? God knows where the battlefield franchise will be by then, but I can’t see DICE getting it back. I am concerned that after Star Wars is over DICE will be forced to work on some B-rated franchise-milking games like Syndicate or similar before eventually getting canned 2-3 years down the line.
I fear BF4 was probably the last decent game we will see from DICE… and even that EA managed to pretty heavily tarnish with their stink. Maybe DICE will be able to progressively improve Battlefront they way they did with BF4 so that in a years time maybe it will be a game worth playing… but if that doesn’t translate into sales/profit then it will matter little.
Probably one of the best reviews ever made. Great!
I will admit that I didn’t do much research before buying Battlefront, but you shouldn’t need to. The game was marketed as an in depth single and multi player, and the back of the box even says 1-2 player with 20 player “OPTIONAL”. If EA knew they weren’t making an in depth game, they shouldn’t have advertised and packaged it as one.
As for review comments, I would consider a 5 as average and a 10 as amazing.
Sound and graphics – 8
I give an 8 because although the graphics and sound were great, there were still opportunities. Example, the tokens actually hurt the visuals and took away from opportunities to actually have the vehicles on screen. Additionally, not all of the character faces looked that great. Overall, above average and very nice.
Content – 2
Far from enough single player content, star cards are garbage, not enough multi player content at release, lack of any kind of progression system (the 50 level bs was only to unlock stuff, and had nothing to do with character progression.
Game play – for the casual gamer the supposedly targeted, 4. Hard core gamers, 2.
I give a 4 on the casual gamer aspect because the bots didnt function well at all. There was no I in the AI. As for the hardcore gamer, you cant hide behind walls, slide, star cards act as ammo and fuel, which makes the play feel wrong.
Value – 2
There isn’t enough to justify $60, and I havent seen any info regarding what will be included in future DLC to justify any additional expense, never mind another $50.
Overall – 3
Although the graphics and sound are great, they don’t carry a game. The content and game play are what make the game, and EA/Dice completely failed to deliver anything that resembles a “game”.
I sold my copy to Game Stop less than 1 week after I bought it.
PS, you are awesome Joe! I love the videos man!
I will wait for Price drop just like evolve.
Got it for 10$ and it came with more content than release
When i heard rumors of this game i thought it would be amazing, However i had my concerns like would Battlefront like BF4 have an unstable launch or would EA put not as much content in the full release. I decided to give the beta a play around i was a bit disappointed thinking this game needs a fix. I was glad to see the ‘jackfrags’ and ‘JokerProductions’ reported the same issues and i’m thinking yes EA and DICE have probably seen this and they will fix it, and while yes they fixed some of the issues they get anywhere near to what i wanted them to fix. I bought the game (Digital Deluxe) thinking lets see what they did and after 3 hours of getting killed by Boba Fett, long range battles with the Dl44, quiting the rebels to the imperial side i put a hole in my wall, Furious thinking WTF EA and DICE this is the best you have were are the space battles were is the campaign (yes i know there is a campaign but come on its just crap). In the end i told my friends how much of a disappointment it was and they ended up not buying it. My score for Star Wars Battlefront is a disappoint 4/10 while the graphics and sounds are good, its not enough to hold or raise the verdict for me. SORRY EA AND DICE YOU HAVE LET ME DOWN.
I’m not touching this game with a ten-foot pole. I can think of better things to spend $110.00 on then this crap.
So glad I did not pay full price for this game. I feel bad for anyone that did.
I also posted this comment on your Youtube review of Fallout 4.
Joe, take this from a huge fan of your show. I don’t know if you are familiar with the new expansion for the MMO RPG Star Wars The Old Republic, but I will tell you that this new expansion to the game known as Knights of the Fallen Empire has SOOOOOOO been worth my time and money, because it is, by far, one of the most interactive story driven expansions for any game I have ever played. Your choices literally matter compared to when even the game first came out. Each decision and dialogue has real long-term effects and consequences. It also has the classical feel of the original Star Wars movie (aka Episode 4: A New Hope) and makes even me want to play it over and over, because there are so many different paths; it’s quite literally almost as good as SKYRIM! And there are new chapters for the expansion being released on a regular basis. Your companions have their own quests and personalities, and your list of available companions will keep changing as the story goes on. You can also customize, albeit with only three roles, on how you want your companions to perform in battle. Whether you want them to be a Tank whom can keep your enemies attention off of you, a Damage role that allows them to take on entire mobs on their own, or a badass healer whom always seems capable of keeping your ass alive against even some of the most hardest of trials. I do urge you and perhaps some of your friends to give it a try. All it requires is a one-time subscription, and you are good to go! Trust me when I say it is worth every penny. Your loyal fan, Zachary Giustiniani.
PS. Fallout 4 may have consumed my brother’s life as well. He won’t stop talking about it 24/7.
SWOR is great, I have just got back into it (new content) after not playing since it first launched
yes i play it but i was unhappy that they took away the companion customization away , the outfits i mean …you could put combinations of outfits on your companion … but not anymore. Now, if you stand in the hub you have hundreds of identical Lana Benico’s running around ….. takes something away from the game that imo
I have noticed this trend when a beloved older series is given a new release on the latest systems. The developers try to apply more recent trends and capabilities to the game, like having customized loadouts and firearms, changing the appearance of your characters, and so one, but since these options weren’t built into the game the way they are in a call of duty or battlefield release, they feel pretty weak and anemic. In this case, they scrap the class system, which helped to balance the game by letting different classes handle different roles, for an attempt at a modern customized loadout; the problem is that the star cards just don’t offer enough customization to be a good loadout system, and they don’t have the degree of specialization that the original games had.
Well played the beta and I can’t seem to kill anyone.
Is it fair to judge the game base on that?
yeah the Jedi battles suck. The 1st one to get the 1st swing just keeps swinging as the other fidgets backwards and just dies. I enjoy this game, but it makes me want a fucking remake of Battlefront 2 with new online servers or something…
BTW fucking excellent review Joe. Loved every minute of it Great job on this one.
Awsome reveiw as always joe
Vissually the games look awsome sound top notch, but it is so sad that developers are charging far more for a game that is a best half finished. 2005 we got one of the best starwars games ive ever had the privallege of playing,10 years later we get this. Why they felt to go this rout is completely idiotic and utterly insane no space battles no charater classes which gave a better more varied type of gameplay. Which encouraged team work, a fun story stretching the entire franchise( cant remember how much of EP 1/2 was in there) large scale battles with fairly compentent AI, veichels and maps a plenty. I often wonder does EA do this intentionally too piss us off or do they lack any form of creativity in their brains which are probably the size of a peanut( and that is being generous i think) to do this and combine it with a season pass a sorry ass excuse for what i think is supposed to be a trophy page and expect us to be happy. Cmon EA pull your severly inflated heads out of your ass and give us what we should have had in the first place. Its almost 2016 how are developers allowed to get away with this crap
Really, when this was announced it was going to be an EA game, why would anyone think it was going to be good and worth full price? EA does games like Taco Bell does Mexican food, only if Taco Bell charged 3x what it does now.
Glad to see Joe *finally* putting the hurt on these companies that release crap with shallow campaigns, empty (yet expensive) DLC add-ons, and microtransactions. Make no mistake, the $10 gun in this game is a microtransaction, only one that had to be purchased at the time of sale. You can still get the Deluxe version now, so the whole “it’s a pre-order bonus” bullshit line falls flat on its face as a lie.
Why does anyone bother with EA/Activision/Ubisoft games anymore? They’ve been doing the industry more harm than good for many years now, yet fanboys and teenagers with parents who have more money than brains keep buying their shit-sandwiches they call games. With developers having quite a few options of being able to self-publish without selling their souls, there is simply no excuse for people to keep buying the constant “me-too” games these companies shit out year after year.
In some of your past reviews I was sure a game would get a better score than you gave it just based on how you talked about it. This is the first time a game scored higher than I thought you were going to give it. I was fully expecting a 3/10. It sounded like a 4/10 at most.
Thank you so much for this, I agree whole-heartedly. They fucked up an amazing game. I’m glad someone finally had the balls to tell it like it is.
I rented it from Redbox for 2 days, got my fill of the game.
I found it a blast, but no where near worth $60.. hell I still feel if there is no true campaign/single player mode (and not a horde mode or player vs ai) then a game should be 2/3rd the price.. $40 or less might be more acceptable.
Not to mention the crappy DLC/Season Pass tactics. The game is fun, but not worth the current asking price.. maybe in 6months/1yr when the “Complete” version is released at a drastically discounted price.
Seriously who in their right mind is going to pay $120 for this? Admittedly great graphics but I think we established in your last review of Fallout 4 that graphics do not make the game.
EA should not be allowed to get away with selling a quarter of a game for over 3 times the price. If I buy a game I want it to be whole with MY option of adding to the already time consuming content but with EA it’s more like “you get the shell for the full price and the rest comes later but you’ll have to pay for that otherwise the game is sh*t”
I really hope this is not the new direction games are going. 🙁
Sadly, it has been for a long time.
Look how hard DLC and Season Passes have been pushed for months/years now.
How games seem shorter, but the Season Passes and DLC are announced months BEFORE the game is even on store shelves.
MKX and Evolve are huge offenders, showing us all the cool things you can buy AFTER the game is released, not even pushing the actual game’s release as hard as the additional premium content.
Having never been much of a Star Wars fan, I remember the first time I tried Battlefront on Xbox because of a friend’s recommendation. Even having just a moderate interest in the movies, it was overwhelmingly amazing and I bought it very quickly after trying it out. Recently bought Battlefront 2 on GOG and it’s still so great, despite some crashing/control issues.
Couple things I notice here that seem to be a new trend:
– Collectible/purchasable card based items or even special match rules to try increasing the replay value. It showed up in another review here (can’t remember which) and in Rise of Tomb Raider. Not sure how to feel about this, it seems like a neat idea but could lead to some laziness in game design if they lean to heavily on this selling that replayability and actually selling the cards rather than some in-game unlockable system.
– Diorama? I’m guessing this is some weird connection with the education system to teach kids what a diorama is. Can’t see another use, especially if you can’t actually place the figures yourself and create your own little battle scene, still useless but might at least be a fun distraction. However, looking at how they are unlocked, it seems like it could be some new achievement system, considering the Uplay rewards and similar aren’t very well received.
Angry Joe! Great cutting commentary as usual, but absolutely 0 presence of Corporate Commander?!?!?! The character is SO funny, I feel as jipped about his absence in this review as you do about the missing campaign in Battlefront! C’mon! I guess perhaps you felt it was too easy this being such a shallow EA game, plus run-time of the video is already solid. Just wanted to say, really wanted Corporate Commander to pop in a few times on this one.
The best part of this game was watching your review, there was more entertainment than what the game has, I played the beta and apart from the additional modes that you get with the paid version there does not seems to be much that will make we want to hand over my money, which is a shame as dice us one of my favourite developers, I can’t help feel that the saw how well Titan fall did and decide that is he model go with, I also believe that dice did want to make a better game but like with everything that EA put the chubby fingers in dictated to dice what they wanted out of the game, if the future if games are mediocre campaigns with lack lister story’s, that have you do micro transactions if you what the content it progression in the game, my retirement in gaming will be forced not because I’m getting older but that the industry is make g gaming boring and unentertaining which is the opposit to why I am a gamer
This game. looks to me to be a “better” version of Titanfall which is probably how EA wanted it to be.
I was thinking the same thing. How did you get toriyama, wb games, and capcom to sign off on this? If you didn’t joe your game is dead before you even start it man.
Whomever he’s negotiating to design the actual games will probably handle the legal side as well. They’ve made games based on all sorts of franchises and I’m sure the copyright holders will see the potential if approached by professionals with a background for this sort of thing. Kickstarter funds will likely partially go toward the purchase of the licenses as well.
This game was made for Star Wars fans, not nessasary for video game fans (not saying their exclusive but EA sure doubled down on that idea). This game is shallow but is held up with beautiful sound and photo-realistic imagery. It’s the same as Madden, it’s made to wow a casual player into buying a system, spending the $60 on the disc and ask for more $$$ for DLC in a few weeks (where was Corporate Commander! This game reeked of his evil doing!). I personally don’t give that a pass, I love Star Wars but I’m not going to waste my money on this succubus of a game and I’m hoping there’s enough players out there that agree.
yeah, except star wars fans played battlefront. And Battlefront 2. And drove around tanks, piloted x-wings in space battles and even went around for a spin as a droideka, and that was ages ago. This game isn’t even made for Star Wars fans, it’s made for the disney kidos that were too young or not around when star wars was a thing and got tons of good games made out of the franchise. I played the beta of this piece of shit EA did … yeah it looks nice but I would rather go back to and enjoy a good game of Battlefront 2, because that game is 10 times as fun and complex and interesting as this one. Well, except the jedi … they did do the lightsaber swingers better this time around and they aren’t a complete waste (in BF 2 a heavy trooper could take a direct saber hit and survive. que 1 heavy running and hugging the jedi before firing his rocket launcher in mele range. Yeah it was a suicide tactic, but a hero for a simple heavy that could respawn right away was a good trade. And that’s not mentioning how fucked heroes are if a good player gets into any sort of vehicle). Shame about the rest of the game … or the fact there’s just 2 of them compared to the 10 I can remember of the top of my head from Battlefront 2.
There 10 included in the single player campaign, but how many were available in Galactic Conquest?
0_o joe… How did you get a hold on those liscenses!!! This is great cannot wait to see what you are cooking for us!
