Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Review
The Short Version: Dice proves once again its prowess at creating a masterful online multiplayer Experience! We have a new king of online military shooters! Using cooperative squad mechanics BFBC2 engages players in a visceral chaotic, but structured, online skirmish experience. All that remains is to return to the franchises “Buddy Action Comedy” single player storyline, rather than this more “serious” approach which feels like a pretender instead of the unique offering BC2 can offer.
What you’ll Like:
• Currently the KING of Online Military Shooters, so says Joe!
• Vehicles, Fully Destructible Environments and Changing Objectives come together to simulate an excellent battlefield experience.
• Squad Mechanics are the heart of this game, with almost every aspect encouraging squad coordination and Faction Teamwork.
• Superb and Visceral Sound FX create a feeling of a much larger engagement.
• The Bad Company Team still crack funny jokes, but a bit less so this time around.
What you’ll Hate:
• Bad Company’s Single player was stronger as a “Buddy Action Comedy” rather than a “Serious Epic War Film”.
• Its possible in some sections to just charge past the enemy, which auto-loads the next set of adversaries, completely skipping sections of the game.
• EA’s Server Outages and Downtime during the first weeks of Release.
• Not Much Else….(Quit Bitchin’ about the Recon Class Newbs!)
Final Verdict:
9/10

ur shows sick
Joe,
I completely agree about the single player, but I personaly think anybody who buys this game just for the single player is a complete idiot… Aaah yes the first Bad Company single player was bad ass, But I still like the original Battlefield 2 Single player overall. I was one of the people who got this game day of, and personaly the server issues didnt bother me much sense I knew when everything did get running and updated, the online play would be amazing, and ooooh it was. In my opinion, there is no other online play like the battlefield series. Call of Duty doesnt compair. Well Thanks for not ripping my beloved game a new one… Love the reviews Joe.
Hey Joe,
The bad ass seal of approval example was not made by Tim Healy, but by me =/ I sent them to your email about a week ago after you asked me to on Twitter. Did you get the names mixed up?
So far I’ve logged more than 24 hours on this game. Loving EVERY minute of it.
If you haven’t bought this game, wtf is wrong with you!
Only thing missing is System Link for 360, which would make it perfect (and take over MW2 in the Gaming Competitions)
Awesome review Joe. I have been hearing so much of this game, but your review has finally pushed me over the edge and I WILL be buying it now.
Game looks f’ing fantastic.
you love the fire background lol
BFBC2 got free dlc map packs!! ohhhhh yeahhhh
I haven’t played MW2 storyline but what I’ve heard it sucked balls and the major complaint about the game.
The clichéd Russian nationalist terrorist coming to power has been done to death and is just lame.
Realistic Joe that the US mainland is invaded and all the other stuff? Really?
Couldn’t have said it all better myself. The main reason that the connection issues have pissed people off so much is because this is such a good game and they are mad that they aren’t getting to play. Hopefully the server issues will be fixed, and we can see this game go places. I know I’ve been playing it a while, and I’m very much satisfied. Now that you’ve got your review up, I can finish mine and place one up in the forums.
Also, I bought my game on Steam rather than playing it on my Xbox. There isn’t any cross platform online play is there? Not certain myself, and not sure where I would check. I remember they had done that with Shadowrun.
