I'll be honest here.

Me personally I don't really care what we end up doing because regardless what we choose as our name I know there will be a place for every profession and role in the game.........I am not sure if people totally get that, but no one is going to get kicked to the curb. This is a community and we are here to help everyone achieve their goals and vice versa.

To be Honest, I don't see why there shouldn't be several AJSA-Organisations with differen Focus...

This also wouldn't be a terrible idea like since we can do multiple organizations we all could be part of a generic organization. Than a few AJSA sub-organizations between the two. Something like this (sorry for the crude design):

This would require several more leadership roles that need to be filled, so at some point we will need to gather everyone that is actually serious about playing and we see just how many people there are, how many people want to play in the roles (some people might want to play in all). Than go into how many sub groups are needed and how to break things up. What role will the main organization play (I would presume the main organization group will be in charge of governing the pockets of space we control).

There are a lot of possibilities however if done right an organization comprised of several sub organizations could be wildly successful in making sure everyone gets what they want.

i cant argue if the polls win, but it seems to me that given the size of the AJSA community we would HAVE to be an organization to accomodate everyone's choice of path.

Ya i think this might be the way to go in the end. 

If you work with one organization and subbranches, the pirates in the pirate-subbranch will still give a negative impact on everybody else in the other subbranches. Or visa versa.

As long as we can connect everybody from AJSA to one AJSA organization for social reasons.

 

It all depends what kind of functionalities an organization will give btw. If i understood well, there won't be just a guild-chatbox since there's information delay.

My thoughts:

A PMC, basically a mercenary group, focuses to much on combat while an organization would be mostly non-violent.

So I think a syndicate would be a perfect mix of the two. There can be honest merchants and some smugglers that blend in with them, people to escort dangerous cargo, fights about territory, pirating rival cargo transports, hunting down other groups. I think it would be the best of both sides combined.

A definite yes! IMO i'd say organization would be the best choice. Why? Well first off, its an organization. We could have a branch of scientists, bounty hunters, miners, diplomats etc. So everyone in Ajsa who are playing SC wouldn't be forced to fill in a role he/she doesn't like to.

I think it would be the best of both sides combined.

i like this idea but if u as a Syndicate get to many rivals it becomes a big mess (looks at the Syndicate game) PMC is to Military focus for me tho i do not care if i can not play Merchant because AJSA picks it i will go find a Merchant Group and make contracts with this Group

 

Now here is my Counter idea Why dont we Form two Main Groups PMC and Corporation this way people can chose and we can do our fav task

First, let's be clear, we're talking about blindly choosing a path. Currently, the only thing we know about SC Org types is RSA's intent for them. What if it turns out that a PMC gets a relations boost with the Military, but takes a hit in relations with Corps and Traders? What if being a Corp makes you a target for piracy, even with our Corp as a mission target for intro Syndicate missions? There's too many things up in the air still to make a smart decision about this, except for one: treat this like war.

The whole point of these Orgs is to make communication easier, so splitting them up won't be helpful unless we do it right. How to we do it right? By starting out with a good solid core, which will become the command group. So, the first question becomes, who will be our first leader? Will Joe himself? Who will create the Org?

If we start strong, and grow, our first org will become our command one. All things considered, I believe it will be worthwhile to keep our Command org, and initial one, a plain straight-up Organization. Then we can branch from there.

With all the above considered, and restructure of Icazael's plan, here's my proposal for our initial org:

Angry Command [AJAC]

Here's where we start. Organization, nice and generalist so we can easily branch anywhere. Group up, and if we start to get to big, our initial community will be the ones keeping it organized, and they'll be the only ones who actually know what's going on anyway. Initial leadership of AJAC will become the Generals of the branch orgs, while staying in-touch with their roots, AJAC.

Angry Army [AJAX]

If most of our members lean toward combat and military, start up a PMC. Once created, this group will have 3 missions, in order: Secure AJAC HQ area, establish and fortify a base of operations, then improve relations with nearby military. AJAX will become the source AJAC's authority and strength.

Angry Merch [AJAM]

Merchants and traders breathe easier knowing there's some rough-types watching their back. Pirates, smugglers, and salvagers always need a way to unload the new-found merch. So I think it only makes since that they'd end up wanting to be grouped together... for the common good... right?

Actually, I've been working on some ideas behind the scenes for a while, which so far looks similar to what Wyrd posted. I'll post it soon as I figure out what is fleshed out well enough to include- expect a thread later this evening.

I could be wrong on this but playing Star Citizen may require the same kind of dedication that EVE-online requires: if you don't get REALLY involved and immersed, at least in the multi-player, you may find yourself owned in very short order; you may also end up not being able to do much unless you are in a serious corp. I hope AJSA can put together a large dedicated band of space-brothers, otherwise goons and a host of other nasties are going to dominate and dictate what others can and cannot do.

Many people say this simply won't be the case - that larger corps will be able to dominate smaller corps - because of instancing and the limited amount of ships in any given system, but what they fail to take into consideration are the surrounding systems being choked off and blockaded by larger corps and making resupply and assistance virtually impossible: in short, if you are a small corp going head to head with a larger corp: kiss your ships goodbye, especially your Idris! 

So perhaps promoting AJSA on Star Citizen might be an idea given that corps are going to need numbers - a great deal of numbers if AJSA doesn't want to get pushed around at every turn. I don't know if AJSA already has a corp up and running on SC and I am not sure how a multi-gaming community will do against organizations/websites solely dedicated to Star Citizen, but the sooner AJSA can put together something the better. But of course if the goal on AJSA is to just have fun and make the most out of a universe dominated by other corps - I'm down with that. But to be honest, I would love it if AJSA built a formidable armada and kicked ass everywhere they went.

I'm not sure whether RSi has confirmed station capture to be in at launch, but, considering our size, we are already growing to be one of the bigger organisations. We're not getting dominated. Please note that SC has pretty much been built as a smaller scale version of EVE that doesn't require as much dedication. For example, I seem to recall that you will be able to teleport to multi-crew ships and into your buddies' instances. You can also configure a PVP/PVE slider that can make it highly unlikely for you to meet PVP players.

You can also configure a PVP/PVE slider that can make it highly unlikely for you to meet PVP players.

Yeah, I look at it as a mini-EVE as well but WAY better! As for teleporting, I am not sure you can teleport ships in a system during dogfights but I know they are planning to teleport buddies. If this is true then the corp with the most ships will dominate because smaller corps won't be able to resupply with fresh ships. Of course if it is indeed the case that you can transport ships then that would definitely be cool! But you can't teleport if the system is already full - sure you could replace ships that are lost but again the corp with the most ships will have a distinct advantage. And what will the mechanic be? Will filling up a system be based on first come first serve? Perhaps a 50/50 mechanic? But what about more than one corp? CIG certainly have their work cut out for them; something EVE doesn't really have to contend with because they can have hundreds of ships in a system. 

 

As for the slider, I think it's pointless because the slider will not work for the outer more dangerous systems; so essentially everyone will probably keep it on 100% safe mode and enter systems accordingly.

Yeah- going to the outermost regions is probably a bad idea unless you know what you are doing though... we haven't decided whether we are going to participate in "sov warfare" yet, but I suppose it will largely depend on the balance of power as experienced in Beta.

Boy we glad to have people like Weynard. More than having group of friends to cruise together, big organizations like this will be very dope. I hope we'll have big space stations and be able to land in the stations to take poop.

They could even be supporting each other behind the scenes... It would allow for rather dirty tactics.

For example a group of pirates manages to provoke a group of bounty hunters to go after them and then boom they get hit from the AJSA bounty hunters or whatever... If you have enough people in each type of group you should be able to conquer complete star systems using dirty tactics. :P

I think organisation is good because it doesn't ties us down to anything particular and people can do what they want. Then when any events are organised we can all do pirating or trading together or whatever!

Exploration, transporting goods, mining (if there is any), bounty hunting, mercenary, pirate, it doesn't matter.  I'm up for anything in the game, and I want to do it all.  Waiting for this game is worse than waiting for Christmas when I was a kid.  I want it NOW!

I don't really care what we call ourselves (PMC, Org, Religion) as long as each group is represented by a leader. I'm not much of a fighter but I love mining and transporting goods.

 

I had horrible luck with groups in EVE as  miner, they always wanted to pay 50-60% of the worth of your haul and so the people that focused on mining were kinda boned paying for all the ships that some of the military people wasted on excursions that made 0 financial sense.

 

More than happy to contribute to the greater good, but there is a point that the greater good is too much.
