Who's excited by War For the Overworld Dungeon Keeper Game

15 posts in this topic

Who's excited about this game I have great memories of the first game as well as deeper dungeons. I have just got the second one. Trying to get it to work on win 7 is such a headache played for a couple of hours its great. Though it did crash after 2 hours. Hope it does not crash too often!

I'm a bit unsure about it.

I've been watching it but so far it just looks like a polished up Dungeon Keeper 2 .... which I already own. I'm not a fan of buying the same game twice so i'll have to wait until I see more of it.

If it isn't too much like it then i'll be all over it like leprosy and hump my monitor as I play it.

I did watch a video it endorsed by the creator of the original dungeon keeper of him endorsing the game. If that's anything to go by

It does look interesting, we'll have to see where it goes.

I did a search for this because I was gonna start a topic, but it's here already, so BUMP.

With Joe's inclusion of that horrendous mobile version of Dungeon Keeper in ho top ten worst list, I'm just letting be be aware of this. I have played it, and it looks very promising.

I bought into the early access early last year, and its really shaping up to become a very worthy successor to the Dungeon Keeper titles.

The developers are absolutely stars when it comes to communication.

Back in August, I asked them about the "dungeon" feeling, since at the time, WFTO did not really have any.

Can read the developers reply here: http://steamcommunity.com/app/230190/discussions/0/34093781874764456/

Totalbiscuit talked about EA's mobile dungeon crap and WFTO here:

In my opinion, there will never be any new dungeon management game, that can ever be "better" than DK1 and DK2. Nothing will ever be able to precisely give the same gaming experience as thoose 2. I guess its a nostalgia thing...

To me, DK1 gave birth to the entire dungeon management genre.

But I believe that WFTO will succeed in being the 3rd Dungeon Keeper game we never recieved, thanks to EA... bastards....

Hell, even the title "War for the Overworld", I believe was the subtitle meant for Dungeon Keeper 3.

Oh yeah, there is another dungeon management game in the works aswell... Its called "Dwelvers", and is pretty damn fun too, although very different from DK1, DK2 and WFTO.

Peter Molyneux isn't involved in this in any way, he's just approving the project as the man who created the original games. It's like a rockstar tipping his hat to a tribute band.

While they are classics, they are extremely outdated.

Take Doom for example: It's awesome and still fun to play; but outdated, and there are more entertaining games, with awesome and game changing features.

I realize he isn't directly involved but if he says he likes the way it's going, or would do it that way himself, i still feel the need to be doubtful
